@Tommaso Stefanelli true, if thats a part of the exceptions then it would be possible but very difficult like the rest of the series so far. No necro summons and all that

I'd say intentionally making timed life units that will time out before the mission ends is a no go, but I'm not going to stress out over malfurion deciding to kill trees just cause he didn't feel like going around
@@persey7241 I would just say deaths you can avoid in gameplay count. For example cutscenes don't count as you have no control those treants don't count as you can't do anything against it.

12:44 The rule "Units that die in Cutscenes do not count" exists, because you can not affect their fate. In the same way, you can not affect the fate of a unit summoned in a cutscene. So Malfurions summons should be excluded for the same reason as unit death in cutscenes. But you should still try to avoid them if possible and should try to prevent them from dealing any damage.

I miss when the broken isles looked bright and colorful like this. I also miss how the Jungle Stalkers used to look like Yetis covered in vines and moss rather than JUST being 100% plant monsters in Reforged.
Reforged was a downgrade in every way. In trying to make warcraft 3 look more like the MMO blizzard completely sucked out the charm and character which made the game so great to begin with. If blizzard tried to pass this shit without the bugs I wouldn’t buy, it just looks like garbage, but it actually amazes me that they actually thought it was a good idea to release such a terrible remaster.
seriously man. even back when i played the game for the first time as a child, i always the the broken isles looked so fckn cool. the blue water, the palm trees, the corals, the creatures. it really gave the vibe of an ancient place that was in the ocean for a long time, and only fairly recently raised up. same with the tomb of sargeras itself. ....aaaaaand then in legion they turned it into an ugly clusterfuck.
Everytime you say maiev I just hear "my elf" lol. Manastone foreshadowing. I like it. I'm looking forward to the blood elf campaign simple because there at least two missions I could imagine being basically impossible without cheesing. But you'll do it anyway of course.
@@norberthiz9318 I was thinking of the second mission (because when it did the campaign on hard last year for the first time, that was a nightmarish difficulty spike, even if th emission is designed to be cheesed) and the portal mission (because that last portal was insane)

Lore-wise, their most absurdly overpowered unit, the Naga Royal Guard, has very, VERY few members and they're all technically hero units. The Hard-difficulty AI being able to produce them like a regular unit is complete bullshit as a group of 10 of them is literally unstoppable by virtue of being such an overpowered unit.
@@joshuakim5240 yeah aren't they all equivalent to the strongest and first few of Arthas's death knights? They're all bosses in their own right since they're the royal guardian that protected Asherah (however you spell that Mad queens name) and went down with her during the war of the old well

Music choice especially for the last two missions really fits with your script. I've never played warcraft, but it was easy to understand the challenge in it!
I love these videos so much. I'm not good enough at RTS to attempt something like this so I have massive respect for anyone with this much skill (or persistence)
The talk about failed strategies and showing of the failures gives a LOT more depth to the run, and is absolutely wonderful to get a grasp of the process of how you develop the tactics used. Keep that addition to future videos if you can, please, it makes it much better.
Wait you can stack potion of invulnerability? Naga OP, well except you can't build the OP units xD Lmao Illidan is really a one man army. Getting the dream items are just so awesome. Mask of death, crown of kings, plus Maiev's shadow orb It's true what they say, life uh finds a way xD
I think showing the resets really gave an understanding how utterly BS the Naga forces are in this game. And this made it so much more enjoyable to see you succeed! Great Job!
Small comment about the Deathless playlist: This vid is put after the Blood Elf vid in the playlist, so newcomers might not get the context why the Naga Royal guard was such a big deal for the ending. Just an FYI
I like this style, it's cool to see the evolution of strategies since I kind of pop in and out of stream watching mode and know about like... how half the levels went and what was hard in any given mission. Anyway, always cool to see new full on videos from you, they're always good stuff
It's ironic that a huge part of every Warcraft 3 Campaign Hero's character development is based around the fact that they are willing to sacrifice as many of their kin for their convictions, as their enemies were for their own goals.. And you are nope-ing all of that ahaha. Fantastic work!
Oh, man. This is making me so nostalgic for a custom map I used to play a ton back during TFT called Legacies: Tides of the Serpent. It was an RPG that used password saving, a third-person camera and really awkward arrow controls. The TFT tilesets allowed for some really immersive level aesthetics!
Man I feel so bad for the comment I left in the last vid. Had I known just how fucking painful this campaign is, I wouldn’t’ve been so impatient. Nonetheless, I’m once again BLOWN AWAY by your raw ingenuity and looking forward to the rest of Frozen Throne! May the odds be ever in your favor

7:03 I disagree. Using the guardian as the container for the treasure is smart. This way the thieves cannot lure the guardian away and steal the treasure without killing it. 17:08 Case in point.

There are some RTS in development right now, I think Immortal by Sunspear Games will be the first of the "next generation" to release. There is Frost Giant Studio offcourse but I don't expect to see anything from them until next year since they are in the early stages of development. There are more but these are to me the most interesting parties developing in the genre
Dwarfheim is a very fun and quite unique RTS that I recommend you to try. The one that I liked the most since GreyGoo (maybee even more). Really cool game!
3:18 In Warcraft 3 frozen throne(2003) was the bug, which can help in saving ships. Before satyr base, you could blink right, in the wood, and found a fulborg. When he dies, he drops healing wards. And you can set ward behind the gate, so Maiev can blink and kill nagas without triggering cut scene Buþ I'm not sure, that there is this bug in reforged
Well, the good thing is that most of the Blood Elf campaign missions are gonna be relatively easy for you, due to how few actual build missions there are (Though, I’m excited to see you do the secret mission perfectly, as it is indeed possible from what I have seen, just insanely difficult.)

Can confirm, Illidan does *NOT* carry items forward to the Undead Campaign. He does, however, carry them forward to his appearance in the Blood Elf Campaign.

Hi Grant, very nice video. You are a hero among gamers for even attempting such incredible challenges. However i think that you shout add to your rule set the fact that you CAN use summons or other types of timed units since those are not technically produced units, they are simply magical units. Summons are like any other magic spell. The units produced by magic do not cost resources or food/supply, only mana so i think they should be included in your deathless run. GG!
Can't wait to see more of your content, I'm not good at this type of game so watching you makes me happy. You're informative and concise love the content

I was wondering why there was no continuation of this series until this point, yea... I'm not sure I would've had the patience and skill to do this challenge at all myself.
Yeah man six months is so long
I grantee you that is this the tip of the ice berg of this deathless run
@@dankmemes8254 Speaking of... wonder if he'll do Rexxar's campaign.
@@dankmemes8254 oh fucking boy that undead campaign will be... yikes
@@theshambler6814 I think it looks nice.
seriously man. even back when i played the game for the first time as a child, i always the the broken isles looked so fckn cool. the blue water, the palm trees, the corals, the creatures. it really gave the vibe of an ancient place that was in the ocean for a long time, and only fairly recently raised up. same with the tomb of sargeras itself. ....aaaaaand then in legion they turned it into an ugly clusterfuck.
Everytime you say maiev I just hear "my elf" lol.
Manastone foreshadowing. I like it.
I'm looking forward to the blood elf campaign simple because there at least two missions I could imagine being basically impossible without cheesing.
But you'll do it anyway of course.
He already did it on stream and I believe I know which ones you're talking about, but he cheesed both of them
@@norberthiz9318 I was thinking of the second mission (because when it did the campaign on hard last year for the first time, that was a nightmarish difficulty spike, even if th emission is designed to be cheesed) and the portal mission (because that last portal was insane)
@@zairaner1489 ah yes he cheese both of those(introducing to non dying base and invisible illidan)
@@norberthiz9318 Where can I find the streamed Blood Elf campaign? I don't know if I can wait on the next fully polished video for it.
@@norberthiz9318 humm did he used towers to defend and used hawkriders in 2nd lvl and the second to last lvl same towers ahead of the portals and ignoring the orc bases or he used the flying nagas? just asking im new on the channel :)
So, naga could have soloed undead uprising and demon invasion on their own if they wanted without breaking a sweat? I feel a new plothole being created by these overpowering stats:(
And they would do so, if it weren't for those meddling night elves!
@@lief3414 oh boi do I have a word to have with you Naga were originally night elfs that corrupted by an old God nazzoth
They're all bosses in their own right since they're the royal guardian that protected Asherah (however you spell that Mad queens name) and went down with her during the war of the old well
@@Penguiniel yeah, because they obviously live on different planet they can escape to when oceans start to boil...
I love how it may take forever, but grant always finds a way!
Man, showing all these failures really show how much hell you put yourself through for these videos. Makes me appreciate them and you even more.
Keep up the good work! (or don’t if you think you’re gonna die from the sheer stress of these deathless runs...)
Finally, the dream comes true, these campaigns on hard mode are nightmares with deaths, can't wait for the Undead missions and "King Arthas".
Music choice especially for the last two missions really fits with your script.
I've never played warcraft, but it was easy to understand the challenge in it!
I think that the treants dying in "Balancing the Scales" count as cinematic deaths, that mission still counts as deathless
The nagas that depresses everybody are literally covered by scales :)
I just want to compliment the fact that you show a basic explanation for the Units. This is really nice for people who don't know the Game.
Hearing your commentary makes this run insane. Amazing dedication to this
I remember cursing the royal guards A LOT when i was younger.
I love these videos so much. I'm not good enough at RTS to attempt something like this so I have massive respect for anyone with this much skill (or persistence)
Incredible
O hai
Odds are the reason your supply went down during the runner mission was the wisp turning into a building and not a unit dying
Could be they are the only units that cost 1 supply and he was busy building ancient protecter at the time
The talk about failed strategies and showing of the failures gives a LOT more depth to the run, and is absolutely wonderful to get a grasp of the process of how you develop the tactics used. Keep that addition to future videos if you can, please, it makes it much better.
Night Elf: "I will give you a knife"
Maiev: "I am a Fan of Knives"
Super underrated, loved it
Wait you can stack potion of invulnerability? Naga OP, well except you can't build the OP units xD
Lmao Illidan is really a one man army. Getting the dream items are just so awesome. Mask of death, crown of kings, plus Maiev's shadow orb
It's true what they say, life uh finds a way xD
You can, but only in Reforged! Thanks Reforged
Stacking useable items is reforged feature as far as i know.
@@Neopolis3 Does that mean that the deathless run would actually be impossible in vanilla Warcraft 3?
@@scienceviking4490 Not really. He just needed 1 potion to escape each time. It would've just taken more time.
I think showing the resets really gave an understanding how utterly BS the Naga forces are in this game. And this made it so much more enjoyable to see you succeed! Great Job!
Small comment about the Deathless playlist:
This vid is put after the Blood Elf vid in the playlist, so newcomers might not get the context why the Naga Royal guard was such a big deal for the ending.
24:14 - I like the portrait for the potion of invisibility.
yeah that's definitely one of the nicest remasters
You have never failed to impress me:
- 12 ghosts snipe to kill Kerrigan in all- in
- Heart of the swarm crucible
- Furboughs to kill archimond
- stacking items on the lich for the summoning mission
You are just amazing ... thank you for making 2 of my favourite games so interesting
7:03 I disagree. Using the guardian as the container for the treasure is smart. This way the thieves cannot lure the guardian away and steal the treasure without killing it.
17:08 Case in point.
Although when the owner want to get it they have to get it through three ways and none of them are pleasant
Also i am pretty sure those are just animal that wonder around and eat anything they see and aren’t guardian of any kind
@@hungcuong606 Also true.
bruh this dude is legend
what a dedication
First of the long awaited Frozen Throne deathless videos are finally here
Super excited! Warcraft 3 was my childhood and I still come back to the campaigns to this day. Absolutely love watching you play this. Thank you!!
"I don't exactly know why a furbolg is here, but he was probably the one that killed Sargeras."
This comment is gold man
I really liked the new take on the videos where you explain the struggle, theory crafting and real difficulty in the explanations and footage.
0:13 By the Gods! Pure SOLARITE!
"By the gods! Hierarch! this solarite will boost our core by 500%! we must gather this solarite!"
I imagined Karax slaughtering Naaru for Solarite.
@Taramafor Haikido we can state what we think, yeah?
Man, how you managed the end missions is really awesome.
I really love your planning and explaining strategies!
Thanks for the video!
I love the failed runs clips!
The way you've beaten Ruins of Dalaran should be in all motivational books in "Never give up" chapter
I guess the opposite of a 'Difficulty Spike' would be a 'Difficulty Dip'?
Difficulty Pit
Difficulty Pitfall, if we're keeping with the theme of booby traps?
difficulty slump
Difficulty Drop?
in tvtropes they call it a "breather level" i believe
I love the unexpected joke subtitles in your videos, the owl puns at 2:47 almost killed me and ended the deathless run right there :D
"...dont see in modern rts" Did I miss an rts release, as far as my understanding goes noone makes rts' nowadays. At least nothing on par with CnC, warstarcraft and (arguably) grey goo
Now I'm sad, I miss the rts genre
Edit: honestly if I could reproduce a good pathfinding ai like the old rts' had I'd make the damn things myself
Well, there are some studios made out of people that left blizzard that are apparently working to create RTS games
@@MarcDonders Well heres hoping they make enough competition to see some great rts' come out
Dwarfheim is a very fun and quite unique RTS that I recommend you to try. The one that I liked the most since GreyGoo (maybee even more). Really cool game!
Sins of a solar empire was extremely fun if you want something in the meantime
3:18
In Warcraft 3 frozen throne(2003) was the bug, which can help in saving ships.
Before satyr base, you could blink right, in the wood, and found a fulborg. When he dies, he drops healing wards. And you can set ward behind the gate, so Maiev can blink and kill nagas without triggering cut scene
Buþ I'm not sure, that there is this bug in reforged
I think it still counts as deathless because it’s not doable by technicality, not impossibility
I love the longer video and failed attempts! Great videos!
Well, the good thing is that most of the Blood Elf campaign missions are gonna be relatively easy for you, due to how few actual build missions there are (Though, I’m excited to see you do the secret mission perfectly, as it is indeed possible from what I have seen, just insanely difficult.)
I am pretty sure, GGG had a very hard time on Mission 05. The one where you get to finally train Coatls... well... the ONLY mission where you get to train Coatls.
It makes me feel a lot better watching this, knowing how much I struggled to play this campaign when I was 10
YESSSS!!!!!! I didn't think you were going to do this.
I really appreciate the patience and consistency in your uploads, as well as your attention to detail, not only concerning the rules but also the video quality. Cheers!
That feeling when getting world record speed runs was easier than doing this.
I thought i was the only guy that played like this, glad to find another crazy savior. Thanks for the tip for the exchange of items, that shadow orb belongs with Illidan.
I was so PREPARED for this video
Your format where you explain things nicely and neatly is really good
My explanation is that you seems to be really good at explaining things so listening to you is very soothing
Thanks a lot!
22:26 Naga Royal Guard: You are not Prepared
22:36 Couatl: You are not Prepared
Man that was insane! Good Luck for future runs!
Welcome back, General Grant.
Boop.
Captain Shar.
2 years later and I still laugh at the “summon treant” description hahahaha great job malfurion
The naga royal guard is so strong that 10 of them could kill Archimonde
No shit, but naga general in lore can't do shit other than splashing water and swing their up sided sword
@joserijalkasyasyaf9723 in lore they're roughly the equivalent to the strongest Death Knights but there's only a handful of them
I got to do this at the Milwaukee Mile for my Christmas gift from my family, I felt the adrenaline in just the passenger seat alone. It reaffirms my absolute love for racing
The true definition of the campaign: H E L L
that was a great intro, i have been waiting for one of these, this is cool.
Imagine getting multiple speedrun wr, simply because it is easier than a random self-imposed challenge
This is my favourite campaign ever made , playing it as a kid with my dad got a lot of nostalgia
yes finally the frozen throne!
I just noticed the green progress bar in the intro. That was a lovely touch, thanks! Now to enjoy the rest :)
also im pretty sure the items you give illidan now, he has when you fight him as undead. so i think you're meant to drop them all before the level ends
He doesn't have them
Can confirm, Illidan does *NOT* carry items forward to the Undead Campaign. He does, however, carry them forward to his appearance in the Blood Elf Campaign.
I like this content so much I watched the whole ad. On purpose.
Hahaha this run was as frustrating as i imagined. Fuck the Naga.. they are so damn overpowered. Well the next Campaign doesnt pull any punches either... cant wait for that Video :D Amazing Video and good Job!
Every day i kept checking for the series.
Ty :)
Maiev x Illidan is still a better love story than twilight
Hi Grant, very nice video. You are a hero among gamers for even attempting such incredible challenges. However i think that you shout add to your rule set the fact that you CAN use summons or other types of timed units since those are not technically produced units, they are simply magical units. Summons are like any other magic spell. The units produced by magic do not cost resources or food/supply, only mana so i think they should be included in your deathless run.
GG!
Man the reforged grafics just look sooo wrong xD
no
@@General12th Yes.
@@StormKnight1 Absolutely not. Let it be known that I disagree with your opinion. I think Reforged graphics look better than the original.
@@General12th well then you are lost!
@@VeryPeeved What did I lose?
Super-human effort. Amazing to see your process and some of the failed attempts.
Great video! Thanks for posting.
Maiev is the best character, no exceptions
Can't wait to see more of your content, I'm not good at this type of game so watching you makes me happy. You're informative and concise love the content
So basically this is a pacifist run......from the enemy AI's perspective :P
Forcing the enemy into involuntary pacifism.
I appreciate seeing failed attempts, really drives home the point the effort you put in and the progression of how you come to your ultimate strategies. Kudos on beating this insane campaign! And godspeed on the rest because that undead campaign... Also I would have counted those treants as cinematic deaths.
Can you please credit the artists whose art you use for the thumbnail instead of just taking their work without saying anything. The Artist is Omar Atef on Deviantart for anyone who wants to know.
He did. You should check the description, linked his profile and everything.
The fact that Grant declares that it was easier to best every competitor on Earth for a SC2 speedrun record than to do THIS deathless speaks to how INSANE it must have been. GG WP!
