I live in a rented space also and our lease is only for a year but I told my husband, when I leave the house and come back home I want to feel good entering my space even if it’s rented. There are certainly things we can’t do because it’s rented like hang nails everywhere and all but the little things I can do to make my home cozy I always do it Cos I spend most of my time at home. I totally get how you feel about the house.

Hey nelo the thing on your wall looks like mould (not sure yet) but check if it is damp … but it would be wise to really treat the mould as it could affect your health x

There’s nothing in making a rented space a home, because you can still take everything to your new space or resell if they are in good condition if you don’t need them again

Water might be leaking from somewhere into the walls. Please check, especially if you have a toilet around there. A pipe could be leaking.
