Wow, these sort of photographs really do give an insight into times past.
Although people were poor back then, I think generally their morals were higher than people today in similar situations. Not just Merthyr obviously.

At one stage, Merthyr Tydfil had more public houses per head of population than anywhere else on earth.

Bring back some memories of pubs that have gone. I have been told that my family used to run a few of the pubs in merthyr in the early 1900s
