When I first listened to the album AJA in 1982 as an 18 year old boy, I initially found it difficult to understand. I had never heard of Steely Dan and AJA was not your usual pop or rock album. However the guitar solos got me interested so I kept replaying the album when suddenly the heavens opened and suddenly my musical ears opened up. AJA helped me to open my mind and to help appreciate other forms of music. Over the years I have listened to this album for probably about 10 thousand times or more and Steve Gadds solo has never failed to mesmerize me. Listening to you recreate that magic by Steve is almost like listening to him play it himself. Amazing top class work all the way right to the tunings and all. You have a fan from India.
Really well done! I like the loose,relaxed power you see here coming from the wrists, giving it the perfect ‘feel’ just like Steve Gadd. Rhythmically soulful. Great job.
I’ve listened to this song thousands of times and concentrated my attention on Gadd’s drumming a hundred plus times. To see it played so expertly by you was a privilege. What masterful work. I can’t even imagine the talent and creativity of the Great Gadd to come up with this in the first place.

On my first kit, the high hat was broken and I couldn’t get it very high so the only way I could play it was with my left hand and that’s how I got started left-handed wise. Thank you for the compliment.

And good friggin night, when the first full-bodied snare hit comes in..wow, is all I can say! And why would I be pleasantly surprised that you got Gadd’s stick click in there but I was for sure. The drum chart was transcribed by a percussionist buddy of mine, his name is Nick Shipp and it was written note for note, which is how I could play the part so accurately. Thanks for your kind words.
