I saw this in the theater when it came out. When the audience realized that Chilton was "the old friend I'm having for dinner," they all began laughing and then applauding.
Oh.... I thought the 'old friend' he was having for dinner was someone else, was a musician or someone who had been a child-molester or something. But Lecter did kill Chilton, right? Chilton did seem pretty arrogant in some of his scenes.
Yes indeed, it was Chilton. After he says that line and hangs up, the camera cuts to him, in a disguise, following Chilton as Chilton walks with some colleagues, having just gotten off a plane in some vacation type location- looks like Bermuda or Barbados, etc.
He played this character so well, as such as unlikable pompous jerk. This character could have faded into the background but he made Chilton memorable.
I end up enjoying the Lecter scenes and appreciating his good manners, polite and articulate nature and intelligence, whereas I find Chilton to be arrogant, self serving and rude. A film where I am cheering on the serial killer!
A detail from the book that the movie left out: Lechter was occasionally approached to write articles for various psychiatric publications. He submitted to a series of I reviews with Chilton and then write up every embarrassing fact he’d learned about him from their exchanges. Chilton didn’t speak to Lechter for years afterward.
Its shows how horrible and yet easily manipulated people is. They sympathize with cambial and hate a person because they think he is a little arrogant.
Is it the tone of voice, the facial expressions, or is it that thick hair that brings it all together? I really do think if they'd made this in 1995 that Jim really could have played this part. And I'd keep it just the way it is here, no excessive faces or talking out his ass, nothing this guy does feels like something Jim wouldn't do. Especially dominating the conversation while walking briskly at the same time.

@@brynne77 Although we never see it happen, it's strongly suggested at the end of SOTL than Chilton did indeed become one of Lecter's meals.
Wow, ok. @@jpsned

@@tommym321it was filmed in Bahamas
5 minutes of screen time but I could've sworn he was in for at least 20 mins more. His presence was so memorable
you realize that they are going down the stairs, everything becomes darker and red, as if they were going down to hell..
The underworld awaited them...
On point
They were

Brilliant performance in Silence of the Lambs. So memorable.
"We are pleased with your audition, you look like a sleeze; you've got the job!"
I like how Chilton presents Lecter to the senator like he's a jewel of his collection.
He plays the self important idiot perfectly.
fitting that brian plays him in the family guy parody

He's also a misogynist, f the lowest type lol
The most mind blowing English movie, EVER!!
It has to have been gratifying, portraying one of the utterly slimiest characters in the entire Hannibal franchise.
Perfect Heald.
True story.
Good actor
And complete and utter s*x on Earth.
"He sees me as his nemesis."
BWHAHAHAHA 😂😂😂. As if!!!

He was brilliant as a balance.
Why was the part about saving her eye and resetting her jaw cut out?
I saw that in the second movie it was gruesome!!!!!!!!
She secretly thinks that Chilton should be locked up more than Lector.
3:54 Lector mad dogging
The dude acts like Jim Carrey even kinda looks like him like he could be his brother.
Much too short
They're probably distant relatives😅 the resemblance is definitely there❤
Still like to know how Lecter got Dr. Chilton's pen......???
The idiot left it there lol
I think there must be something wrong me that Chilton creeped me out more than Hannibal.
Love dr.chiltons cold demeanor and his pushy arigonece!

Its the voice and his expressions 😂
I agree, Jim could’ve done that for sure
@@DutchSchultz1911 The way he tries to ask her out and that lip quiver thing is more Jim than some of the things Jim has actually done. 🤣
He played IRA insurgent Ian O'Connell in a 1991 Law and Order episode...so there.
Jim Carrey prototype. Uncanny...
Yes I though nobody besides me thought of that
Does anyone else feel like this guy has Hans Landa vibes?
Mind
The editing sucks on this
Cha?...
as long as people got no love for me they will get no mercy from AIMMEE

Chilton was a gross person. He sexually harassed Starling many times.
