    Hey dude. I just came across your channel and subbed for the content - love the variety of player levels across the channel. I noticed that in this match that your opponent (yellow) took most of his shots early, which is why he crushed so many balls. I think the way to counter this is to play with more topspin and keep the ball low to the net to stop him from getting his body over the ball (if that makes sense). Really enjoyed the video - can't wait to see more in the future :)

    Mr. Yellow shirt is something else. He didn't play many rally balls. Probably 85% of his shots had a purpose and put you under pressure in some way, either side to side or up and back. And taking the ball early cut down on your time to respond.
    Dude, you need to cover your forehand on his service returns. It seems like every shot he returned went hard to your forehand and you were rarely even close to it. If you take a big step to the right to cover it maybe he could be just as effective returning to your backhand, but you've got to cover and make him prove it!!
    He has an awesome serve +1 game, too. I don't have a clue how to deal with that. And his nasty drop shots and spinning serves are tough, too...
    Based on the points you showed, I don't know how you hung in there as well as you did.

    The guy in the orange shirt was never taught proper recovery positioning. He's always trying to get back to the middle. Proper recovery positions you so that you are bisecting your opponent's possible angles of return. It would make his court coverage significantly more efficient. This combined with a properly timed split step would allow him to get back shots he currently thinks are "too good".

    • @TennisTrollChannel
      @TennisTrollChannel  3 роки тому +8

      Bill Cook that’s a good suggestion. I’ll try to make a better effort at recovering properly. Thanks you for sharing.

    • @Gitfiddle
      @Gitfiddle 3 роки тому +3

      That’s an excellent suggestion. He’s not in the proper position to return these shots. You should always mirror your opponent’s position so you can cover the angle. Now to be fair the kid in the yellow shirt is pretty tough. His game is very awkward and his shots are extremely flat. He also takes the ball very early. I think to beat him you need to play high percentage tennis. A lot deep cross court shots with topspin to drive him back. Mr Yellow wants a short ball to smash a winner. The best way to beat an opponent like this is to make him beat himself. This guy wants to hit winners quickly. He doesn’t want long rallies. If you keep the ball deep and consistent he I think he will try to hit a low percentage shot for a winner and you can force some unforced errors. Also you have to mix up your serve. Every single serve is right down the middle right in his strike zone and Mr Yellow is teeing off on it. You got to push this guy back with a kick serve imho. Of course it is much easier to say this from behind a keyboard. But I think you could have a much closer match with him if you change you tactics. Good luck!!!!

    What a beautiful location to play. Yellow shirt has so much variety in his game. The good...Great disguise on those two handers and he works the angles like Seles... wide shots using the short court, etc....The bad.... so many shots to choose from that he's almost his own worst enemy out there. A lot of the points he lost were due to poor shot selection. The lefty serve wasn't much to speak of at all. The greasy serves on the deuce court from the doubles alley he was very lucky to get away with. I'd be so pissed playing doubles with him... you'd get hammered at the net. You cannot spin in these 40-50 mph serves and expect to get away with it against anyone who knows how to return. I bet after orange shirt watches this video he will play him totally different next time. Returns should be from inside the service line against someone who can't, or chooses not to serve more than 70-80 mph. You have to move that guy side to side with two hands all over the place. When you see him drop the second hand off the racquet, then move in. Every shot was either a drop or landed in the short court. Take advantage of that. Practice that backhand slice a lot more. Yellow shirt was not nearly as effective when he had to hit up instead of through the ball. He absolutely dictated on all of the waist high balls.

    I sometimes practice with a better right handed player whose main sport is hockey. He hits two handed forehands and one handed backhands. Although I normally hit one handed forehands and two handed backhands, when I hit with this guy I mirror his ground strokes (left handed). In the lab is my cross-hand two handed serve. My notion is to hit a short serve with so much backspin that it returns to me without my opponent hitting it. If I can do that I'll get the on court love I've always deserved.
    Hsieh Su-Wei has the grip part of her rackets extended. She puts her right hand in the middle of the grip and shifts the left hand top or bottom according to which side of her body she's hitting from. I think she also moves her right hand up a bit on the grip for some shots.

    Next time you play him guard a little bit more on any cross court side either fore/back that he will naturally swing to. He seems to hit most of his shots cross court whether forehand or backhand. Don't center yourself in the middle of the court, keep him honest by recovering to the side where he will hit a cross court a bit more. guard both cross court wings depending on where the ball lands on his side. And I'm sure you will beat him next time. You can also try to serve to a direction that will force him to hit an inside out shot or a down the line shot. Also, you might want to slice some low short balls when he's on the run. His slice return looks very rudimentary. Try to make him uncomfortable.
