I just traded in my TRX after a year and a half with it. It's a magnificent piece of engineering, but I have to say I was pretty disappointed in the number of bugs I had with the head unit. Occasionally the truck would start up in Baja mode for no reason, the screen itself became really unresponsive, and sometimes it would just BSOD and reboot while I was driving. Add to that the never-ending driveline thunk and the Stellantis ads popping up when you shut the truck off, and it got to be one too many annoyances to justify the massive price tag and gas.
I read about the front drive line clunk before I got mine. Thankfully, I think they got that sorted for 24. At least, I haven’t had that issue. The head unit I agree isn’t great . It definitely has some weird characteristics.
Interesting, I haven’t had any problems with my 2023 TRX head unit. The driveline clunk is definitely there once again. Keep the videos coming, not enough of TRX content lately on the channels.
Hello, good morning, excellent video of the RAM TRX, the best pickup in the world to date. I hope RAM launches a new generation on the market. I just subscribed to the channel. Greetings from Córdoba, Argentina.
I've went from a gen1 raptor to a gen2 raptor and then to the TRX. Have to say I love my 2021 ram trx the most. But in a perfect world I would take a gen 2 raptor exterior and put it on a Raptor R chassis. That Raptor R is going for 185k cad and up which is crazy. I'd much rather take the TRX slightly used for around 100 to 120k
Beautiful truck. I want to buy a hemi powered vehicle now that the end is here for them. Normally id go for the rubicon 392 but I already own the rubicon diesel. I do love the trx.
As always thanks for the great video. I think you do a great job not being biased on the two trucks. For me I'd take a Raptor any day over a TRX, the TRX is a mean monster there's no doubting that but since Stellantis has gotten involved with Ram I personally would never put my money into owning one. But I am glad that I can watch someone who has both super trucks & gives an honest review on them.
ه had a trx a year ago , and i yes the z automotive and i did the force rear wheel drive several times and it destroyed the transfer case , DO NOT USE THE REAR WHEEL DRIVE IT WILL DEFIANTLY DESTROY THE TRANSFER CASE
Wow! That’s wild ( and a lot of money for a transfer case). I usually don’t drive in ForceRWD. I just can’t feel that big of an advantage with it. Hopefully my transfer case will go the distance.
I suppose, at this moment, I would say the Raptor R. This is partly because of the size compared to the Ram, which is 4 inches wider. The ride quality is a little better and I like that it has 37s right out of the gate. I actually think the Ram looks better inside and out. But, if you’re asking me at this very moment which one I would choose, it would be the Raptor.
@@DrivingLine Thanks for the frank insight, Curious if your answer has changed at all now that you've had a little more time with both trucks? Im currently in a 23 TRX and as much as Im trying to love it, I must admit my experience with it so far has been soured by either poor quality parts, Quality control issues, and or poor workmanship on RAMS end( horrible panel gaps). I have already had 7 different parts on the truck completely malfunction and fixed under warranty; Not including numerous recalls. Dealership experiences have also not been great. I watched your earlier R video when you introduced the TRX and you did mention there were some things going on with the TRX contemplating whether you were going to keep it or not.. curious if we're in the same boat. At this point I'm contemplating on 1. thuggin it out and keeping it, 2. snag a leftover 24 FE like yours in hopes of better luck, or 3. Go for an R
Well, technically, they have a selectable rear locker. If you look at the section of the video where I’m talking about two wheel drive, you can see that both tires are spinning. With the Tazer, you can actually use the rear locker with the ForceRWD setting. With it launching in 4 Auto, I’ve never really had a big issue with traction. The Raptor R rear differential is open until you engage the locker as well.
@@DrivingLine The raptor R uses the rear brakes to mimic an LSD on its rear open differential, the TRX has just an open differential. Nobody daily drives on concrete with the locker engaged. Not sure how it’s relevant.
I understand that. I suppose my point is with the truck in 4 Auto, even with the diff open, it doesn’t really have an issue with traction on the street. I can easily roast the rear tires on my Raptor R in two wheel drive. If you want to really launch it, you have to use the 4A feature on it as well. I think a limited slip with the 4Auto would probably make the truck corner poorly. So, that’s why they likely went open rear. That’s my guess anyhow.
Those would definitely both be nice features on this truck. The sway bars are pretty easy to get to. I’ve been trying to figure out how to make my own disconnects.
It’s all relative. I live in a small coastal town. Most of my commutes are very short. With the exception of motorcycles, my experience has been that everything that is fun to drive off-road gets terrible fuel economy.
Uconnect absolutely sucks on the TRX. From the non-existent performance pages to not being able to rely on the backup camera, these trucks have the build quality of the Chrysler minivan.
@@DrivingLine I have like 3 years worth of video footage, pictures, ramcares email correspondence, etc. You must be the exception, because dozens of other people I’ve spoken with say they have had a lot of issues on the Uconnect 5.
You can't get better fuel economy because TRX don't have front axle shaft disconnect, that also true for 392 jeep. What's that mean, everything that turning in 4wd mode, turning when you in 2wd mode.
You have to live in an area where gas is $2.50 a gallon to afford to drive this beast. The aspect ratio of the infotainment center just looks dated to me in 2024.
I live in a small coastal town. Gas prices here are significantly less than they are many other places. I also have very short commutes on average, so that really helps.
@@DrivingLineI’m on the West Coast so no chance I could justify the the MPG over here unfortunately. I saw a MotorTrend write up that said they dropped like $12k in gas alone over one year. Bonkers.
It’s just a truck. I toss in groceries, dirt bikes and haul off junk with it all of the time. You only worry about depreciation if you plan on selling something. I don’t know if I ever will sell this truck.
I've watched A LOT of TRX videos and this is one of my favorites. Well done!

What did you do with your stick tires and wheels!?!? I’m look for some :)
The Ram just has the look, its just another world.

Now that you said that about the stock tires that is all I see when I look at my Final Editions tires.
😂 sorry. I think it’s partly because they are so wide. Drove me crazy.

You got a TRX too!! Man you must be loaded. 😂 Very nice.
I’m incredibly fortunate to be able to have what I have in life. Thankfully, I have a very supportive family and unbelievably understanding wife. 😁
My TRX FE is #434......night edge blue.....it sits in our garage next to my Son's 2012 superbee......yellow with black stripes...
I love the wheels, did you level it?
No. Still stock suspension. I might level it eventually, but I’m not sure if I want to go springs or not.
Really like the TRX....i have one a 2024 FE also....
you can change the drl to amber with alphobd also
Thanks for the tip. I’ll check them out.

You forgot to mention how these trucks have open rear differentials, and easy it is to do a one wheel peel out with the rear wheel drive mod.

Hook the RaptorR up to the TRX bumper to bumper for a power contest....the TRX will crush it....

10 mpg sounds awesome, until you realize how much that cost over the year

A million times better than the TRX food stamp edition RHO that replaces it.
The bot troll repeating what the internet tells him. You'll be jealous of the RHO aswell. Its better off road than anything.

I haven’t had a lot of problems with it. In terms of reliability, the one in my Raptor has frozen and dropped CarPlay connections way more frequently.

I'll just put a super charger ony Toyota tundra 😊

Too expensive to use a truck. Too expensive to use as a grocery getter. Will depreciate $45,000 in 5 years. Unless its stolen first.
