Played Rocket League now for over two years and never watched much vids or really trained. Started training and watching many vids in May. Your wisdom and maturity as you approach RL, I think has been the most helpful. Being mechanically skilled and positionally skilled with good tactics only goes so far without a good mindset. Gonna be watching a lot of your vids your library. Plus I am always anxious in duels.

You know, I read a great piece of advice from Daigo Umehara's (Street Fighter legend) book - maintain a level you think you can do sustain every day for 10 years. If that's two hours a day every day, or whatever you decide, you'll never get burned out. Hope you stick around this time and keep grinding this awesome game :)

Watched just for the great commentary. I would absolutely love it if you made some videoes talking about mindsets, how to improve etc. I think everyone knows mindsets are important, but I feel like a lot of people don't know how to improve it
To be honest, this is something I’ve gotten better at from reading. I’d recommend these books: “Playing to Win” by David Sirlin “The Will to Keep Winning” by Daigo Umehara “The Inner Game of Tennis” by Tim Gallwey Mindfulness training is also great as well. Weldon Green is a great resource to start with. Of course, I have my own experiences that shaped how I learn, but for a long time I really was just banging my head against the wall and trying to brute force the experience, which of course was not very effective. The books ended up being very relatable.

Guys. His tip ab looking at the name tags and your kickoff gets better, is actually a really good lesson ab rocket league... sometimes you just gotta believe you’re the best and trust you can hit any shot you go for.

You have helped me immensely over the years, but most importantly...the mind set you play with is inspired brother. Good luck, I think you play on an RLRS team?? but if not good luck going forward :)
I feel like your videos make me improve by watching someone else’s playstyle (your), making me better and getting me higher in mmr, which in turn makes me face off against you, so I’m grateful of that, cause we all are trying to get better and push eachother... then again I suck at RL XD
I've been playing fighting games recently and was feeling some real salt and asked my friend who played rocket league how best to deal with that. They sent me this. I feel like this mindset falls perfectly into fighting games as well as any competitive 1v1 game.
Hey Kev, I am one of the seemingly rare players that uses air roll left/right in my control scheme. I, however, do not have normal air roll bound in my controls. I just can’t seem to get it down pat. I remember your aerial car control vids and see that you have air roll as well as left/right. My question is, when do you use normal air roll and opposed to left/right? I’m Champ 1/2 if that matters at all. Thanks!
Kevpert, I was wondering how your 'bread and butter' mechanics got so good. I'm trying to be a 1s player myself, and I'm really trying to improve on those fundamental things. Like turning, like powerful hits on the ball, like being so comfortable and quick on those awkward back wall positions, and overall just feeling and looking clean and smooth on the ground, and minor aerial shots and stuff. You know what I'm talking about, right? I was just wondering if you got so good with those types of mechanics from hours of freeplay, like just turning over and over, or was it ranked? Was it scrims? Was it just watching fairy and scrub doing it over and over? Also, are freeplay and training packs the place where the majority of my time spent in RL? THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE GREAT CONTENT
It’s no accident. I worked my butt off on those mechanics, since they’re the most important and used the most often. Just training packs that I typically developed on my own (like my long/air roll shots tutorial to help my finishing consistency). Even first touches and bounce dribbling, that’s just a lot of dedicated practice in free play. It also helps to watch pros to see how they do it, Fairy being a great role model on how to bounce dribble with flat cars. Reading “The Inner Game of Tennis” really helped improve my mechanics in the last month or so, I’d highly recommend you read that.
Mr. Pert, it’s Mr. Tuv...We played fairly recently and you signed my profile. Thank you. Just wanted to also say thanks for being a resource for the Rocket League community. You’re smart so I wanted to get your opinion on something - it’s called overspeed training. ‘Overspeed training is an effective method to recruit new muscle tissue to enhance performance when an athlete accelerates their body, or parts of their body, at speeds greater than regular competitive speeds.’. With the use of Bakkesmod, you’re able to change the gameplay speed to something faster than the default game speed. The default game speed is 1.0. I gradually increase my speed over a free play session until I’m somewhere in the 1.3s. When I jump into a match, things are much slower and I’m able to play more consistently. It seems as though I have time to think, as well as play fast since the perceived speed is less than what I practiced. Do you find this to be advantageous or detrimental?
Hi man! Would be interested to know more about your daily practice, see wich things you work everyday and what amount of time you put in them. Your content is very instructive, love it!

Honest question for Kevpert/high level commentators.
