  • Bye Emirates | Why I quit my Emirates Cabin Crew job * MUST WATCH *Emirates doesn't allow its Flight Attendants to speak out. Freedom of speech doesn't exist. Why did I quit? Flying turns you old quicker, doesn't reward you enough and kills your relationships.

    That's the truth! You may have friends in Dubai but, keeping the relationships strong is really hard. Everytime you work, you could fly for 16 hours, stay away up to 48 hours and another 16 hours flight back to Dubai. You're terribly Jet Lagged and need 14 hours to recover from the shift. Will your friends be free on those 2 days of rest you have? What if they aren't?
    Happy to meet you!

    Emirates employees suffer from loneliness. Being alone will be one of the most common things you'll experience if you decide to be an Emirates Flight Attendant. An Emirates career is a tough one and will keep you away from home for really long amounts of time.
    At a certain point you must think, is the money and travel worth the sacrifice?

    ►More information:
    Keep at mind that retirement benefits are missing, schooling for your children is only provided if you're a purser and its provided upto secondary school (if I remember correctly). If you take in account the amount you'll have to set aside for your retirement, the amount for your child school funding (in many other countries it's provided free of charge) and add the fact that Dubai is very expensive, you might end up making the same amount of money you'd make back home! Only difference is that back home you have your long time friends and family!
    Is it truly worth it? Does the sacrifice convert well? Think about it!
    Also, think the fact that, you're worth a lot! Putting a smile on for work and giving the best possible customer service on board doesn't reward you, it only rewards Emirates.
    There are so many Employees in Emirates, you're just a number to them. But remember you're not just a number! You're full of potential, YOU'RE a person! You deserve the best rewards for your sacrifices. Think of that.
    Lastly, I'd like to outline that, working for Emirates has been a beautiful experience. Even if Emirates has quite a few negative aspects, treats its employees like children at a boy scout campus, we both admit that it has been one of our most beautiful experiences in our life.
    If it hadn't been for Emirates I probably wouldn't have had the chance to visit Bali or, New Zealand or, Sydney! We are thankful to Emirates and we'll never regret working for them.
    Work for them for a short time, that's our biggest tip! You'll sacrifice little and yoiu'll love it! Promise!

    Wow so good to hear such a raw and honest reason why you quit. I really appreciate you sharing these intimate personal information - feels like you really do care for our cabin crew wanna be community and I’m so grateful for you Orlando! I follow news stories about why people quit or develop mental health issues and it’s so important to be aware to prevent them from happening so you can maintain a healthy lifestyle. And what a beautiful background scenery!! Incredible. I hope we get to do a UA-cam collab some day.

    Hi there. You video was so interesting! I worked for another Middle East airline and the main reason why I left was because I had zero personal life. Environment and work culture were extremely strict and I couldn't handle that constant stress and feeling that I live in a boarding school even I'm a mature adult. It was super hard to make friends, because you never flew with the same people, you always away... if you're off, your housemates are on duty or vice versus. Also, it was a public secret that romantic relationship between employees were not tolerated at all and you could easily got in trouble if somebody from management finds out that. Practically it was impossible to have a boyfriend, to plan a family or to have a normal life outside job. Maybe when you're 20 or 21, it's ok, but when you're getting older, you realize that you don't want to spend your whole life in loneliness or surrounded by temporary, fragile "friendships" with people who just come and go in your life. Of course, there are many good things too, but I think now social media doesn't reflect the reality of this job and lifestyle. It looks glamorous and fun, but there's another side too and rarely wants to show that.

      I agree with everything you said. We kind of felt the same. Stressed to the bone by having to recover from a flight and get ready for a flight. Having a normal life this way is impossible.

    Isn’t this how it is in every airline?
    Correct me if I’m wrong but this is how stewards and pilots live. They fly for hours get less sleep and less free time and get compensated with few days off and lots of benefits. There’s nothing different with Emirates Airlines. Of course you would know that if you worked with a different airline or know someone who works for one.
    Maybe this career isn’t for you. There’s nothing wrong with that, just don’t blame the company that hired you and paid you well.

    • @WishCasting
      @WishCasting  5 років тому +5

      No blaming. Just outlining.
      You like many others, may know what being a cabin crew is all about, but many people applying have no idea. There is no harm in letting them all know what's behind the job, the real side. People only talk about glamorous perks. That's not the reality. Everyone has the right to know what they're jumping into.

    • @PrincessElla02
      @PrincessElla02 5 років тому

      You’re clearly portraying the airline as a bad company with your choice of words on the title and the description . So it’s either a clickbait to get more views which is not a cool thing. Or you completely deviated from the point you just mentioned.

    • @WishCasting
      @WishCasting  5 років тому +3

      The hard truth is the fact that so many suicides have been swept under the carpet. Loneliness is a big deal being crew. One month ago the last of a very long list. You have no idea how many other negative aspects I've experienced but will disclose on future episodes. I quit but I'm still on many fb pages where plenty of other crew disclose much more negative aspects not covered on this video. I've quit for many other reasons that I still haven't disclosed but will soon.
      Ps: I have close friends in Ryanair, EasyJet, Norwegian and couple more. They have many days off for proper rest. They can actually have a holiday if they couple leave with days off. Emirates crew are flying more and having less days off. When you book leave you get 1 day off before and after your leave, not enough compared to other airlines. Some Emirates crew going back home in Mexico need 3 days just to travel, that's just unfair. In the past (2 years ago), we'd have 5 days in front and 5 days after our leave. With 5 days of leave you'd get 15 days total away from dubai. That was good! Not now anymore. That's one of the reasons they're hiring again. They lost 10k of their crew members in resignations. Wait for next videos, you'll see. Stay tuned 👍

    I've been asked this question by an anonymous user and wanted to let you all in for the answer:
    1. 📹 What would you like us to talk about on our next video?
    What questions do you have regarding Emirates?
    Hi,I wanted to ask you do you know if I can work for emirates or any other airline if I have dandruff. p.s.Love your youtube channel. Thank you.
    We've seen people working for Emirates with dandruff and we're sure you shouldn't have any problems getting in. Just make sure to scrub your scalp and hydrate it well before attending your open day. Once you're in the company it's not your problem anymore, they'll probably get a physician looking into the source of the problem and fixing it for you. But you have to manage getting in first.

    Orlsndo thank you for your video. I'm a cabin crew of Aeroflot more than 5 years. In April I had interview with Emirates including final interview. But I didnt get golden call. In a week I'm going to Assessment day again. Can you give me some advice for that people who are going there the second time? I have gone through all process last time but didnt get this job. My biggest mistake was that I didnt prepare for final interview and didnt know all this tricks. All questions are quite tricky. You have to think twice what to say and what do not yo say. It was skype interview it's not easy to use charm and charisma that can help you in real life, it doesn't work through the computer sometimes. And one more thing is the recruiter asks you to tell the example in all details what exactly you said, what client/colleagues said and etc...I'll appreciate any advices

    Hey Orlando, the wrinkles part scares me! Hahah is it true that everyone who works as a flight attendant prematurely ages? I watch so many girls/ follow on UA-cam/Instagram that work for emirates and they always look immaculate! Haha do you think the wrinkles you experienced is due to the lack of sleep? Does everyone experience premature wrinkles?

    • @WishCasting
      @WishCasting  5 років тому +2

      Hi Georgia!
      Wrinkles show up depending on these factors:
      -Age
      -Lifestyle
      -DNA
      -Personality (easy or not easy to get stressed)
      -Food
      -Sleep
      -Exercise
      -Smoking
      -Alcohol
      -Make-up
      All of these factors impact your appearance. The reason why most crew look immaculate is either cause they really take care of them selves or are very young, or use botox and apply a lot of make up.
      You're probably used to seeing crew on Instagram or UA-cam. Of course they'll always put their best pictures with perfect make up on. This doesn't reflect reality as you know. When they remove makeup, you'll see blemishes, pimples, birthmarks, scars and wrinkles :) It's a natural thing.
      The way you age is just 1.5x faster I'd say than regular. But again, it all depends on all the factors above and how well you treat yourself.

      You should follow the guidelines to have maximum chances in getting in. I printed several causal clothes ones and several in formal attire (passport and full bodied just in case). Wonderful! Thanks for your reply! I never experienced flying over 100 hours. However I was told off by at least 5 crew members that 90 hours average is absolutely unreal. I'm happy to hear that it isn't like that for everyone.
      When I joined, I would get on an average 80 hours per month and 5 days off twice a month sometimes.
      I was able, with 5 days of leave, to get 15 days off total if I placed leave at the end of the month. That allowed me to high priority bid 5 days off on both months and make sure I got them.
      It's dreamland nowadays unfortunately.
      Yes, good flatmates and less flying hours make this job close to a holiday without an end.
      Where are you from? How's your next months roster?

      Emirates doesn't have much information regarding this matter on their website. However we do know that after you become 50 or so ( I'll have to investigate on the precise age, I cannot remember right now), when and if your contract gets renewed, it'll only be valid for 1 year.
      When you join the company, your contract is of 3 years. Every time you renew your contract after it expires, it always lasts 3 years. However if you're older, your contract is limited to one year every time.
      I've heard from one purser friend of mine that they discontinue crew after they become too old. That's why they make 1 year contracts for older people, so to discontinue them easily within their legal rights.
      The first part of the answer isn't totally accurate and only reflects an approximation of what I heard and know.
      Hope we were of any help!

    Hi dear
    I want to ask you what HR they looking for in CV to hire someone?

    • @WishCasting
      @WishCasting  5 років тому +3

      They are mainly looking for:
      -customer service
      -leadership skills
      -cooperation among a group
      -quick reaction and reflex in taking actions (paramedic, lifeguard, referee, sport athlete)
      -great English
      -previous experience is greatly recommended (cabin crew is the best but not limited to)
      The format of your cv needs to be strong. You can have the best experience but if you don't simplify it well, the recruiters will be bored and not consider you. Capture their attention quickly. That's the key.
      We'll do a sample cv episode soon. Stay tuned Abdalla my friend 🖐️☺️

      I wrote this to Abdalla, you asked a similar question.

      Emirates is amazing ;) But one of the major bad things is that you're killing your health. Many jokes are said, that you look 10 years older if you're a cabin crew. Check memes on google about cabin crew :D We are so unhealthy and we age super quick. Live a lonely life. Better do it for a short time.
