    So, there are definitely gators in Lake Parker. Part of it the east side was fenced off due to a homeless guy being killed by a gator. Have seen very large gators there. If there is water, just assume there are gators. Also, fun fact-Winter Haven has more lakes than Lakeland. January-April is pollen season, so allergies 🤧 will be crazy. Both of these areas are much bigger than seen in the video. Polk Theater, Florida Air Museum, Polk Art Museum, Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center and Annie Pfeiffer Chapel, Explorations Children’s Museum, Polk’s Nature Discovery Center, along with all the lakes, trails, reserves, and parks in Lakeland. Winter Haven’s water ski show on Lake Silver, Bok Towers, Lego Land, Chain of Lakes, parks, trails too. It’s not a big tourist area. The citrus industry and cattle industry are being taken over by housing developments and businesses needed to support the people. Lakes and water ways with boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and water sport stuff is popular.

      Increasingly horrible traffic from not only people moving here, but tourist attractions. Population and traffic is increasing faster than construction can be completed for expansion to accommodate growth. Most larger populated counties have a bus system-CITRUS CONNECTION in Polk where this video is located, HART in Hillsborough county, LYNX in city or Orlando, Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake counties, as well as parts of Volusia and Polk, PSTA in Pinellas. The high speed rail system was voted down a few years ago, but some cities have Amtrak and Greyhound stations. Some cities have a trolly system like the one in Tampa (Channelside to Ybor) and (Orlando on International Drive). Most of Florida was still rural up until about 20 years ago and have had major boom in housing and businesses added bc land was inexpensive, there was a decrease in agricultural vs citrus diseases, retirement of farmers, products from other areas, etc.

    For the newer ritzier stuff in Lakeland, you have to head to Lakeside Village on the SW side of town. For the super fancy houses and stuff, go to Lake Hollingsworth and the Florida Southern College area.

    You're not going to find too many gators??????? You haven't been here long. Gators are EVERYWHERE. Especially, in Polk County where you are in this video. Also, May-June is mating season. The grunts and growls are being made by the males. There are very few copperheads in central/south Florida. The biggest snake threats are water moccasins (in and around water) and diamondback rattlers on land.

    • @dswysong7353
      @dswysong7353 2 роки тому

      Rattlers? Where. Thinking of moving to Winterhaven from St Louis MO (btw how bad is the life for young teens)

    • @321gates
      @321gates 2 роки тому

      @@dswysong7353 Rattlers are not as numerous here as they used to due to increased development (they prefer dry land and that is where they build houses). Water moccasins are a bigger concern, although much less venomous, because they love water, and Polk county holds a lot of water.
      As far as raising kids here, it all depends on what kind of environment you are comparing it to. I have no idea what you are leaving, but do know we have very good law enforcement, that do way more than most areas in trying to keep their citizens safe. Is it the same county I grew up in, nope, but it's probably as good or better
      than what you are used to.

    Also from a local perspective, SKIP Kissimmee lots of crime and run down, old, nothing to do. Lake Nona is where its happening currently, newer communities, lots of golf courses and a medical city that dwarfs the Mayo Clinic area of Phoenix. They also have a Top Golf there and plenty of other activities like food trucks and Boxy Park, great area! Lake Nona is also where Disney is building the housing community for the Imagineers from California to live. I-Drive is cool a ton to do down there. Disney Springs is GREAT lots of food and shopping and free to park and walk around. Universal Studios has a Boardwalk type thing but parking is expensive but free to walk around as well. Hope this helps somewhat in your adventures!

    If you want to see gators go to Circle B. Those building behind you actually was the original mall for Lakeland. I'm a resident and you have missed a lot of our beauty. Plus City of Lakeland's actual name was supposed to be Winter Haven (chain of lakes) & Winter Haven was actually supposed to be Lakeland. Lakeland & Winter Haven is in the 4th Largest county in Florida and we are the 2nd largest growing place to live.

    You were in the wrong part of town for Winter Haven. You should have hit the Boulevard, Cypress Gardens Blvd, is where all the action is. It’s a parking lot by 4pm most days because everyone takes the Blvd. it leads to both sides of Winter Haven, one side will take you towards Orlando and the other leads you back to Tampa

    If you are looking for gators next time try Circle B. It is between South Lakeland and Winter Haven. I love Winter Haven slow and quite. I work in Orlando the fast paced and crazy traffic. You appreciate Winter Haven slower pace. Next time try boat ride around Chain of Lake.

    I live in Lakeland and gators are definitely NOT rare. You can see them almost daily. You get a big enough mud puddle and there will be a gator in it. Go to Circle B and walk Gator Alley.

      Lakeland is a nice little city. The benefits are the fact that it’s growing constantly, it’s not too big, there’s even prettier places than what was shown in the video, and you’re right in the center of the state, between two great cities… Tampa and Orlando.

    I have a feeling you're going to make an announcement and say you're leaving AZ for FL. At least temporarily until prices get back to somewhat normalcy in AZ. That is my prediction. I live North East of Orlando and please whatever you do, if you do ever end up here do not live inland! The coast is where FL shines, especially the West Coast.

    It is definitely not the place you want to live. Why there's no education system here what's so ever one two the police run the place gang stalking is probably the number one profession here. As they just hired 20 more police officers for what reason oh yeah the newcomers they target you as soon as you enter the state that's right any prior any unknowns they're on you and they're watching you and they may set you up sounds crazy I can count them on my toes and my hands and then some as I've been watching this play itself out. They did this to me 25 years ago and now that I hindsight and caught them on my phone I realize texting right over my text the lieutenant at the Sheriff's Office who has been rotated out since then him and his wife. They had me on the GPS on my car my email my internet activity everything I did and I couldn't understand why I've never been a criminal. But out of the Sheriff's Office the gang stalking is the number one profession here in Polk County why not they got more losers here than anywhere sorry to say. What do you have here they don't like Northerners that's a fact you from New York New Jersey big cities like Chicago Pennsylvania talk to the people who've already come from those places and they'll all tell you yep they have clicks here and they don't like you judges cops School City they all work together and they don't like you. They use you and those few you out when they're all done abusing you for the sole purpose they don't like you. It's not welcoming like New York and Chicago to everybody nope look out it's coming predictive policing is going on here predictive policing like in Pasco County. Please read Tampa Bay Times Pasco Sheriff creates futuristic programs to stop crime only it wasn't the sheriff who created it it's who implemented it he's not smart enough. If you want the truth I'll give it I have 100% documented proof all that I say
