Pretty hilarious with the context given in one of Carrie Fischer’s interviews where she talks about how she was so taken by Harrison because he’d taken philosophy classes and would quote philosophers in interviews, so she studied it too to be able to do the same thing
Yeah, it sounds pretty chilling! Actually, the original title for 'Return of the Jedi' was supposed to be 'Revenge of the Jedi.' During the time of this interview it was still 'Revenge of the Jedi.' It wasn't until later, shortly before the film was released, that it was changed to 'Return of the Jedi.' The cast and crew decided that 'Revenge of the Jedi' did not make sense and ruined the image of the Jedi because Jedi do not seek revenge. They seek protection and peace. The title 'Return of the Jedi' also ties into the fact that after Luke becomes a full Jedi and he and his friends save the galaxy, all of the deceased Jedi "return" through their Force spirits at the end of the movie.
"I don't know about the 3rd film, "Revenge of the Jedi..." I had a Monster magazine circa fall 1980 that had that same title for the coming-soon movie that Mark calls it for the 'Return of the Jedi'. After the release of RotJ, George Lucas was asked about the title change within the last year, he said that revenge wasn't fitting of a Jedi's way, but more appropriate to the dark side & simply made the change when he realized it.
Yeah even before they told me about the car accident he looked really different in empire as opposed to a new hope ! Him breaking his nose makes complete sense now as to why he looked so different !

Pretty hilarious with the context given in one of Carrie Fischer’s interviews where she talks about how she was so taken by Harrison because he’d taken philosophy classes and would quote philosophers in interviews, so she studied it too to be able to do the same thing
Mark called it "Revenge of the Jedi" That's cool!!
The title 'Return of the Jedi' also ties into the fact that after Luke becomes a full Jedi and he and his friends save the galaxy, all of the deceased Jedi "return" through their Force spirits at the end of the movie.
i love how old this is.
Why? It's not that hard to find media hype about a major sequel to a monumental movie.
"I don't know about the 3rd film, "Revenge of the Jedi..."
I had a Monster magazine circa fall 1980 that had that same title for the coming-soon movie that Mark calls it for the 'Return of the Jedi'.
After the release of RotJ, George Lucas was asked about the title change within the last year, he said that revenge wasn't fitting of a Jedi's way, but more appropriate to the dark side & simply made the change when he realized it.
Oh. My. God Harrison is so hottttt and Mark playing with his hair is so cuteeee😍😍😍😂
I love that Mark says “Revenge of the Jedi” not “Return of the Jedi”
Rockabilly Ragsdale because it was the original title at that time. Changed later by George Lucas
16:18 - nope. He still talks too much ;) Great interview, btw.... love these old ones. Thanks for posting this!
Damn, are they being interviewed by HAL from 2001? "I've still got the greatest enthusiasm and confidence in this interview!"
‘A pathological aversion to exercise’ is going on my tombstone
Man, you can really see how Hamill's appearance changed between ANH to TESB.
Nah as much as TESB to TLJ
my favorite thing about harrison ford?
he answers the GD questions.
brilliantly Id say.
I can’t believe how young they were when they did this interview
Yeah even before they told me about the car accident he looked really different in empire as opposed to a new hope ! Him breaking his nose makes complete sense now as to why he looked so different !
"Revenge" of the Jedi! Wow.
This guy Linehan is actually pretty good. I got the impression from Martin Short's Brock Linehan routine that he was kind of a joke. Again, he's pretty competent. Brock had a better theme song though.
+assignmentearth Linehan was one of the best interviewers. I'm going through all of these clips!
+assignmentearth . Not sure if your wow was because you think he got it wrong, but Revenge of the Jedi was the original title. They changed it to make it less aggressive in keeping with the idea of the Jedi.
+TheSeannachaidh yes. Yes, aware of that. impressive bit of history there to witness. I have a friend who worked at a movie theater at that time, remembers seeing a poster with that title in the lobby. Wishes he had it now. Worth money now.
You caught that too! I was aware of the Original Title but glad to hear Mark say it back then.
assignmentearth that's the gag; Linehan was known for his amazing research. Martin Short turned that around and made his parody incompetent. Both Short and Linehan were from Hamilton and apparently Linehan liked the parody
Really awkward interview, especially on the Ford side.
Oh yeah. "Mark, how's fatherhood?"
"Harrison, why weren't your movies more popular"?
Ouch. Tough break.
@@Balazak: Tough on Mark sitting there listening to the problems of Harrison Ford's dilemma of artistic integrity doing 6 films in 3 years while Mark waits for a call to do a laundry detergent ad, anything.
@@TS-qq7vr Now it's probably the opposite.Mark Hamill is still getting jobs as a voice actor.
@@manormanman7092: I'm glad the guy embraced his niche. He's incredibly erudite and funny off the cuff, but was bad at the melodrama of Star Wars. I wish he'd gotten comedy roles back then.
@@TS-qq7vr He was very good in Star Wars though? He can pull off a whiny, clueless teenager in ANH. A brave but stubborn warrior in ESB. A mature, calm Jedi in RoTJ. And he nailed the depressed, bitter old man role in the sequels. He also nailed the creepy, psycho, serial killer role in movies like "The City" or "Midnight Ride" He is such a great and versatile actor, and a brilliant voice actor too (Joker, Fire Lord Ozai, Darth Bane, etc)
The title everyone was familiar with through media bombardment was "Revenge Of The Jedi".
Should've called it Shark Jump Of The Jedi though.
It feels like they started filming the interviews halfway through it.
Oooh damn, Mark Hamill is such a lovely cuteness!!!
(5:00) Good response Mark, thumbs up.
*the inner meaning of Han Solo*
mark cant handle it anymore xD
they seem jet lagged
I bet Harrison was on pills and mark was stoned.
How did HF refrain from knocking this guy out? Such restraint.
Mark Hamill finishes with "I probably talk too much". Yes, he did in old interviews, but cut forward a couple decades to no answer under 10 minutes.
Cus Disney did his character wrong
Force 10 from Navarrone, one of Harrison's "less successful pictures", was great!
mark seems like the delightful one....
its strange when you look at hamills filmography, he really didnt do anything after return of the jedi, and then started choosing really shitty projects. Its so refreshing to hear a real interviewer asking hard questions, instead of the siccupantic ones we get today.
Harrison Ford was Smart and was careful not to be type casted or stereo typed in just sci fi . He had a Expanded and brilliant career due to his OTHER work
He never really cared for the Han Solo character and wanted to do more dramatic work like Witness, among others.
not gonna lie this is Exactly how Han Solo would react to doing an interview
This guy is so pretentious it's actually entertaining.
These 2 are def on Harrison's special Green lmao they are high as hell here! Laughing every at each others answers. That's great! xD
