      I wouldn't say emotional eating is a disorder as in, your emotions is an abnormality that causes you to eat but I would say there could be underlying issues that are causing the stressful emotions which then forces the person to find ways to *cope* such as food, alcohol, marijuana, or drugs.
      But then there could be a case where the amygdala is damaged or a tumor is pressing on it and that could be the stressor that causes the stressful emotions.

      I now opened my eyes and discovered why over the years my problems is memory and concentration and attention and focus issues and I need vitamins and supplements for this and I basically need an anti depressant

    I can’t stop myself when I am stressed everything needs to be eaten this goes from yoghurt to chocolate, dry bread, probably a whole pack of cookies, ice cream it really is an issue

      I think meditating more often is going to help you. i had binge eating disorder in the past and the things that helped me the most were praying, meditation and raising my awareness about the topic. i still face some kinds of emotional eating every now and then. But it is much more manageable and way less dramatic. i feel more in control even though i sometimes overeat i am not as stressed about it . educate yourself as much as possible about the topic and try to do your daily moves with more awareness and presence to always stay in control, also i suggest you read a book called The Power of Now . The key to change is consciousness.

    Whenever I am severely stressed I always take like a 6 hour nap and eat junk food, I go through mood swings too

    "I deserve this because I just endured that/am enduring that." I think that's been my comfort since I was a child. I noticed it happen just today. I'm now actively trying to fix it.

    This is the very reason I'm overweight right now and have always struggled with weight. As a kid I was always stressed and never really felt safe and I was very emotional as a kid and shunned for having feeling things. Food was the only comfort I really had that made me feel safe but then the stress would come back. Now that I'm an adult and in my own place I have more control over what I eat and I'm a vegetarian now.

    When I’m bored or not stimulated by social interactions I eat :-/ I used to live in Vegas and that fast lifestyle had me fit but not happy. It’s crazy how eating fills a void that said missing

    I’m under a lot of pressure from school and parents and I noticed I started to eat more junk food and a lot more food in general and have put on about 5lbs. It’s annoying but I don’t have the will to care right now

    It's so interesting, l think most food itself is a drug (bad processed foods). If people realize that the bad food is part of the stress, they can avoid it but it's a commitment just like say quitting smoking....hate to be harsh but it's the truth.

      I've always been a student with perfect grades and now I'm doing it to achieve my dreams ,but it's really hard because I get anxious and feel helpless when I can't get the best grade. So I get stressed often and eat potato chips to calm down. At first I ate it when I needed something salty ,but now I'm eating it to reduce stress and it feels like I'm addicted to it

      me but with bread and stuff to spread on it. If i do have this in the house, then i will likely not have anything else. I have gained a tonne of weight though from it and i personally hate the way i look

      Get a mini fridge and shop weekly for fresh veggies and stuff. Seriously tho on the mini fridge. The less you have to go in the main fridge tge better it’ll be for you

    Whenever I'm stressed idk what I eat at all😳 and then worry about my obesity😶 I workout daily but the reason I'm showing less result is my stress eating habits😑 I would be happy if someone told me how to control them

      I know! I never really feel convinced about these psychology studies- the guys stress was hand in a bucket of cold water! I think just the cold and temperature would make them chose the high calorie food. I think they see the food as the reward for doing the experiment not really realistic stress. It needs to be a better designed and more sophisticated experiment.

    There’s literally no science I get stressed out sometimes I stress eat truthfully it’s just calming I don’t really talk about it much with the people I know it’s easier to commit online. I don’t stress eat all the time like every time I get stressed but sometimes

    I’m glad the study focused on men because stress eating isn’t talked about enough in men. Every time I Google the subject or type it on UA-cam 8/10 vids are for women and made by women. It’s gets swept under the radar too quickly cause nobody cares about men and it’s a new age problem.

    If Darwinian evolution was real this would be counterintuitive. Thankfully Darwinian evolution has been shown to be nonsense. We are Created by God Himself, the Bible explains some of what you’re seeing here, it explains how we should renew our minds (build new neuropathways through creating new habits), by reading the Bible, and worshiping and praying to God, and by focusing on what is good and lovely etc. the Bible talks about breaking down strongholds (bad habits or bad neuropathways in the brain) the Bible tells us not to worry (which causes brain damage and creates bad habits ‘neuropathways’) the Bible fasting can help with this as neurons are formed faster while in a fasting state. The Bible is also clear that overeating the ‘kings food’ (cakes, sweets, etc etc) is not good for focus and health, whereas eating veggies and legumes are very good for health and the brain (Daniel). God tells us so much in His Word, but you must be born again of the Holy Spirit of God in order to really understand it. Seek God passionately with all of your heart and he will reveal himself to you. That’s a promise from the Bible, and it’s also how I came to know Jesus at 30yrs old, with no Christian back round. I just started to cry out in prayer, and after a couple weeks of daily crying out, seeking God (whoever he was) he finally revealed himself to me, in a clear and miraculous way. Jesus Christ is who the Bible says he is. Seek him.

      Thank you SO MUCH for your beautiful and amazing testimony. I am a Christian too and I am struggling with overeating and binge eating due to stress. I have made a lot of progress by the grace of God but it is still hard. God promised me that I would be able to have children but with that He put me on a specific diet and told me to only eat four types of foods. I saw over a period of three months my doctors who had said I was infertile before declare me healthy, and tumors on my ovaries shrank. When I was following the diet I felt so close to God and so much power! Because we had a covenant. But like Samson I broke it and have become weaker and weaker each day - leaving me in a state of despair. I kept repenting and trying again and again but whenever I am stressed I break it and I’m starting to feel like giving up now. The Lord promised me that one day this will become a strength for me but I am struggling really badly. Do you have any tips or suggestions?

      @@Alexandriafrancescakiel hi my beautiful Sister! Thank you for your sweet words! Your testimony of God showing you what to eat and it healing you is inspiring! I know you’re in a valley right now but just know that you won’t stay there. I prayed for you and asked the Lord to give me words for you and this is what I feel he has just pressed upon me to say:
      “...to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.” Isaiah 61:3
      Every time you feel down and feel like going for ‘comfort’ food, put on the garment of praise first. Turn up your Christian music and worship! It will uplift your mood and you will gain help from the Lord.
      Second is practical advice, remove all other foods from your home. Maybe decide you’re going to throw them out, or maybe give yourself a week to eat most of it, then throw the rest out and meal prep what you are supposed to eat so it’s always there when you’re hungry.
      Have Gum or another guilt free sweet snack to grab when you feel like indulging. Maybe organic frozen fruit, Walmart has that.
      Vision board, make a vision board and keep it where you can see it. Some Christians don’t believe in things like that but our God made the laws of the universe and He wants us to focus on his goals for us and achieve them. It’s too easy to let it slip from our minds here and there. So put up a vision board with pictures of your goals and keep it before your eyes in a prominent place so it will remind you every day, Also writing your goals daily will help you to set them in your mind. Check out the “cheerleader of dreams” I’m forgetting her name right now, she’s an older blond Christian woman on UA-cam. She’ll help motivate you and give better explanation for the vision board and writing goals.
      And finally, just know that even when you aren’t following perfectly, our Father loves you with a great and mighty love.
      All brothers and sisters, especially me, struggle with similar things as you Sis. I love you, this will pass and I know our father can help you overcome this, in time. I pray you will be blessed with children and healing in your body and endurance to overcome this too. Love always your Sister in Christ.
