- 3-11-19 - Broadway @ Town Hall - Jeremy Jordan/Seth Rudetsky. "Bring Him Home" by an unmic'ed Jeremy Jordan. Wow! Have you ever heard anything more beautiful? This video doesn't do him justice. It brought me to tears.
I'm on a Jeremy Jordan binge
Wait...this is just his voice, no mic at all? That's amazing.
Yep! Incredible isn't it?
@@anrina Yep! I'm seeing him in October - can't wait!
With a song like this in that space, a mic would have been detrimental
He’s got all the power he needs
What I would give to see him again 🌹.
He’s a powerhouse.
The Jeremy Jordan is the powerhouse of the cell
Torn between wanting him to play Marius or Valjean in Les Mis 😭
Rachel Sanchez what I wouldn’t give to see him preform empty chairs at empty tables! 😍😍
Julia Craft Omg same
Me too
Can Jeremy please play every role ever? There seriously isn't a role he wouldn't be the best at. Like he literally made me believe he was an old man ready to sacrifice his life. I'm never cried at bring him home before, even with my favorite Valjeans singing it. It always feels like a weird switch between falsetto with way too much vibrato and excessive belting. He made me cry. It's the same with every other cover he does, his version is always my favorite version. By far my favorite actor AND singer of all time
I need an album, please god please give me a bunch of covers from this man.
I knew it would be a mistake to click on this video. I’m dead now.
(At least I died happy) 🥰
OMGoodness. Les Mis. Is in great hands with Jeremy….❤️
Jeremy Jordan is musically perfect. Such a strong grasp of tone. This is probably the only rendition of Bring Him Home I like. I’ve always found everyone else to have really weak falsetto with horribly contrasted belting.
Really? The only one??
@BaneOfPigsOP Thanks for the recommendation, I appreciate it. I listened to this version ua-cam.com/video/wL0rRWffiSs/v-deo.html and I have... a lot to say lol *this is my subjective opinion*
First off, I never trust studio recordings of musical theater, because the technique involved requires a lot of resonance and overtones and they just get lost in the studio process (unless it's a pop/rock/etc musical). So listening to Jeremy singing unamplified in a concert hall with (I assume) decent acoustics, then comparing it to Nick singing into a mic in a studio, it's not a fair comparison. I did check out his rehearsal video but it's not in full, but it is reasonably better.
Second, the thing I love about Jeremy is his ability to maintain his signature timbre throughout all his different registers. Whether falsetto, mix, or chest, they all have that 'Jeremy' sound that we all love. Nick on the other hand does not do that, his falsetto is great but so much weaker compared to his chest voice. Here, Jeremy balances between his registers so they all complement each other musically. (2:10 that switch from falsetto to chest is amazing)
Third, Nick's vibrato is far too wide for my liking; it's almost Hugh Jackman levels. Jeremy's control over his vibrato and being able to fine-tune it to meet the music's needs is amazing.
However, more and more now I realize that Jeremy's phrasings are getting shorter and less musical and I don't know enough about vocal technique but it just doesn't work for me. In this video, commas between phrases are cut way too short (2:49 that not is just begging to be held longer) and his ritardandos are pretty much absent (3:10 sounds rushed). Nick's phrasings are much more musical and narrative in quality.
Sorry for the essay, I have very specific preferences lol. I have to give a shout out to Ben though, his playing is very musical and saves a lot of his singers' misphrasings with his super responsive accompaniment.
Alfie Boe's rendition is my favorite :)
I highly reccomend watching Nick Cartells version!
Try Colm Wilkinsons version he was the original jean valjean on the west end he was the first one I ever heard and he is still amazing at it today. This is an amazing version and Jeremy is very talented but Colm will always be my favourite 😊
I am in love with this man.
Amazing voice and great actor. Love his new Hallmark movies
And he did this while feeling a little under the weather? Wowza!
His voice ahhhhh it’s perfect
No auto tune needed! Gorgeousness!
Oh boy, that voice.
This is one of my favourite versions of this song. Jeremy is one my favourite musical theatre performers, he is absolutely amazing ❤❤❤
Hitting hour 4 of my Jeremy Jordan binge and this is just another reminder of how much better of a singer he is than Hugh LOL. I actually saw LSOH with JJ because Music Man was postponed and seeing Music Man this week. Going to wonder how much better JJ would have been xD
I wish that The Greatest Showman hadn't burned Jeremy for a role in the movie. Wasn't he just wonderful in LSOH!?
I saw him sing this in London and it really was something special. Goosebumps, chills, the works.
Not the first to ask this, but why haven’t the musical theater people been competing to have him star in one of their shows?
He starred in Newsies on Broadway, Played Dr Pomatter in Waitress on Broadway, and probably many more but he’s definitely had leads. Check out Newsies on Disney + and you’ll see
I mean, he was the OG Jack Kelly...
Still salty Greatest Showman pulled the part of Phillip from him, especially after all he did for that film
Here’s the list so far: Newsies, American Son, Rock of Ages, Waitress, West Side Story, Bonnie & Clyde. Jeremy has said that he’s a certainty for Les Miserables but they’d like him to be a few years older. He recently performed Bring Him Home at 54 and it’s pretty clear he’s vocally ready but even at 37 he can easily pass for 27😍 And Ashley, at 37, also looks very young. His time will come for Jean Valjean.
I love this man so much.
The power, the raw emotion, the near-perfect pitch.
♥️♥️♥️
He’s also just a fantastic ray of sunshine
This is incredible thank you for posting! I am absolutely obsessed with jeremy jordan. I want to see him live SO badly
This is so perfect 😭😭
Utterly fantastic!!!!!
WHEN IS HE GOING TO PLAY IN LES MIS!!! I need it NOW!
only version of this song I find no problems with- the purity of tone is unmatched
He's truly amazing!!!!!!!
Is that Seth on the piano? I wish this had been professionally recorded, as it is such a beautiful voice and an important piece.
I cannot wait to see you in Les Mis🌹
LOVE IT 💕
Incredible
Oh god I wish this was a better recording.
He must play Valjean when older
❤️
❤❤❤
I’m just imagining him as Enjorlas or Marius
No mic?! Jeremy! Oh my gosh
Thank you for sharing this! Can you tell what else was on his set list?
You're welcome! I have a few more videos to post but I know I did not capture a couple, like So Far Away, which was lovely.
I posted all the videos I had. These are the ones I don't have: "Something's Coming" from WSS , "So Far Away" by Carole King, and an impromptu snippet of Grease "Summer Nights".
Who's disliked 🤔😡😠🤬
