The magical and versatile soprano voice of Maite Itoiz, together with the charming voice of John Kelly, accompanied with their own instruments; Celtic harp, flutes, rebec, guitars, Basque instruments, poetry and a selected repertoire full of ancient magic and tradition.
ARALAR, one of the most mysterious locations of Euskal Herria, in the mountains of the ancient kingdom of Navarre, surrounded by spectacular nature, megaliths and legends of dragons and angels, there is an old temple built on top of a cave; St. Michael of Aralar was the choice of the Basque TV EITB to film a full concert of Maite Itoiz & John Kelly. The great audience figures encouraged the release of this album, with the ancestral Basque language as a central point, sharing also prominence with wonderful Sephardic music, English Renaissance, Bretagne's folk and own compositions. As guests, the successful author Toti Martínez de Lezea reads excerpts from her books, and the musician Ivan Allué plays txistu, txalaparta and pipes, creating a unique atmosphere.

Immer wieder Gänsehaut ... Ich erinnere mich noch an diese Weihnachtssendung im Zirkus Roncalli, wo Maite damals mit ihrem Vater Carlos Itoiz, der ja auch nicht gerade im balearischen Raum unberühmt ist, als junges Mädchen zu Gast war. Dieses Konzert hier ist wieder ein typisches Beispiel von vollkommener Harmonie und der Liebe zur Musik. Einfach nur wunderschön.

Maybe it's cause of my viking roots cause my grandfather found out that our ancestors were vikings living in Sweden Up to the 12. century and they started moving to Germany slowly...

I love the Basque spoken by John Kelly. It sounds like lovely as it lacks all the harsh sounds of this ancient European language. I guess it’s like Swiss German for a normal German speaker.

Tolles Konzert! Leider in einer Kirche, die zu Gottes Lob erbaut worden ist und nicht als Konzertsaal und Tanzbühne….
wer diese musik nicht als lob gottes erkennen kann ist ein armer mensch
@@metalfarmer646das sehe ich auch so. ALLE Kellys waren und sind sehr gläubige Menschen und würden eine Kirche nie für ein Rockkonzert benutzen.
