Robert you are the kind of guy I want to see do well in everything you do. Your videos are always fun and amusing while helping my guitar playing improve. I love how you don't seem to take yourself too seriously. You're relatable to many of us out here and you have chops I can barely hope to build up to some day. Stay awesome brother.
That's how learning guitar goes, no matter how you approach it, or what level you get to; you just keep being surprised at all the connections & possibilities. The guitar is easy to make music with, but a life long journey to master.
Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏 I suffer from depression and today, since saturday I have another depressive episode hitting me. (No joy at all, no drive, no nothing. Just sleeping) That #1 hybrid picking idea made me pick up my guitar which I try to pick up since saturday but failed due to drive. Thank you for sparkling up my mood 🙏
Roberto, big bad Bobby baker, just wanted to thank you for the great content. I’ve been subscribed for a while but just started really going back thru your old stuff and keep finding gold. You’re the man
This is a great lick for beginners! Hybrid and finger style really make things you already know more interesting and open up new paths. Makes rhythm playing a lot more fun too.
Good lesson/tips, useful. Thanks. I like what you said, that sometimes we don't know how much we know. We are focusing so hard on something else, and we miss what we already know...
I've been watching/following for ages now. This was very cool great way of explaining basic stuff people can simply make stuff sound interesting. Well done fella. You're a great instructor _teacher...

Only just listened something about finding octave’s all over the fretboard and then found this vid learn about using octave to solo. Thank you so much !
your becoming one of my top 5 favorite guitar players Robert love this lesson not that you weren’t one of my favorites God bless Trolgy for introducing you to me and others and God bless you and your family
At 6:36 it sounds like "come and knock on our door" from the "three's company" theme 😁 yup.. I'm old and obsessed with sitcom themes. What's your favorite.. Mine has to be the "Sanford & son" theme, although Jean Stapleton really got up there in "those were the days" 😁
That hybrid picking is such a staple in my playing. I use my middle finger to pick at times to help play fast licks or when string skipping can be tough. I learned it from cliffs of dover, but I applied it everywhere.
Really appreciate these little lessons and tricks, your approach and teaching style is relatable and easy to understand and put to use! Thanks and keep doing what you do!
I was expecting all the natural minor nerds to be flaming pentatonics in the comments. I'm pleasantly surprised.. I personally love pentatonics and I live in my majors and minors. Great lesson as usual!🤘
Im just gonna let you know that this is a great lesson. Im also going to say that among the tastiest things you play in this whole thing is that little hammer on at end end of the descending run at :36 and 1:36... which is a little confusing to the beginner player since that note is not in the scale you just outlined. (but this is a great lesson, seriously)
When he's talking about bending up to the note, right after he says "It almost sounds bad" @5:33 He plays the beginning of the "Three's Company" theme lmfao 😂
Man, you make such cool lessons. Even my old tired ass can do this. This is fixing the problem of, when you learn the scale, then you're like " now what". That's my exact problem. I know where all the scale pattern boxes are, I just don't know how to improvise over them. Thank you Robert, you're great bud.😉🤘🎸🎵
That's all very well if you've got about 20 amps to choose from and umpteen different guitar modes, anything sounds good. I just cannot seem to get my guitar to sound as good as that. I've just acquired a line 6 amplifier, but I'm struggling at the moment to get that sound like yours and every other guitar lesson on UA-cam
Your Other Videos I've Seen are Great, But ..... THIS one earned you a follow! Good 💩 Mah Dude. I've learned other instruments ... And it's nuggets like this that forever change your playing.
@RobertBaker - great vid! I'm not a beginner (but no expert either for sure) but the open string trick was one of those OMG I never thought of that moments. Love the way it sounds. Thank you
Great lesson as always Robert. A quick beginners lesson on the rhythm stuff you did at the end of this video would be great I think. Simple changes over nice rhythum strumming with some muting without a lot of more complicated chords. I think there is so much music just in “cowboy chords world “ that gets missed in a huge amount of teaching. Coupled with some cool lead tricks as you just showed would help heaps. You just proved that in this video. 👌
Adding in all of these little tips on top of the lesson plan. I am seeing some really great results from the lessons and these videos. Stay awesome, Rob 🤘🏻
Another great vid, Robert, laid out nicely! I always love dropping in on the Beginner stuff because I tend to get stuck in my head & can't get out... Thanks man!
Oooohhhh, that ending riff was tasty Rob. I want to sing something over that. I'm getting Steven Tyler vibes like crazy. Give us a link to download that and have a writing/solo contest.
Lovin' the bends into the scale notes on example 2. Smooth and sounds great ! Changing gears Mr. Robert, any relation to Stuart Daniel Baker ? He's a good picker as well and a helluva live performer.
Ways of getting in and out of the minor scale to the major from the major to the minor there are little things you can do to get out of the major and go to the minor or vice versa
Very Good lesson Sir. Thank you very much. I have a shed load of practice to be geting on with, as well as some great ideas for me to try out. I think my problem in progressing with this terrible "mistress" is trying to "get out" of the patterns my "fingers" have learnt "robot"style. This being from years of repeating the same "ole"patterns but never knowing how to tease out those amazing "licks" I hear from so many great guitarist. So this has made my "playing" if it can be called that very ridgid in "style n' sound" instead of being much more loose in my finger dexterity. There is much for me to learn n" master......... " Damn and blasts you sir" for the amount of work I now have infront of me. And my Wife also has placed a curse on you because she will have to endure my pratice sessions which will most definarely include words not meant for children's ears. ! Thank you Kind Regards Only joking about the curse. But don't ever show up on our door step unless you want a guitar forced into a place where the sun will never shine ???? MG
Can’t stop looking at the beautiful colors and burst thickness on that guitar. Just absolutely perfect.
Actually kind of a brilliant lesson. As I’m trying to decipher this stuff, it kind of opens my eyes to simple ideas that sound big.
Indeed

I went on meds for mine at one point, helped a lot! I'm not on them now. Have you seen a doctor and asked about treatments?
Great jam at the end of video...maybe more of this as a lesson through different keys...love this, thank you!!!
Roberto, big bad Bobby baker, just wanted to thank you for the great content. I’ve been subscribed for a while but just started really going back thru your old stuff and keep finding gold. You’re the man
Thank you my homie.
How are the UA-cam gods just feeding me this video now??? Great lesson! I'm going to try this out tonight! Thank you!
This is a great lick for beginners! Hybrid and finger style really make things you already know more interesting and open up new paths. Makes rhythm playing a lot more fun too.
You are soooooo talented man please please don’t stop!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot, there's a bit more variety in my licks now... You rock!
Good lesson/tips, useful. Thanks. I like what you said, that sometimes we don't know how much we know. We are focusing so hard on something else, and we miss what we already know...
Killer lesson! thank you for all the fun/amazing content you put out!
Fantastic lesson 🎸👍
Robert. Great channel. Much respect. Your videos are great and informative. You truly love what you do and it’s contagious. Keep up the great videos.
Like all the best lessons; just the right amount of explanation and pitched perfectly for the beginner like me. Thank you!
Great tone on that Paul in your fingers and rig! That bend up in trick 2 has a Jeff Beck sound! Great lesson! Thanks!
Hey Robert, can't really say much rn cause I'm in school but just wanna say you're awesome👍
Thanks James :)
@@RobertBakerGuitar the second trick, bending up to the root note also sounds a little like what Jeff Beck does.
I've been watching/following for ages now. This was very cool great way of explaining basic stuff people can simply make stuff sound interesting. Well done fella. You're a great instructor _teacher...
Ahhh who needs school anyway, go home and practice that guitar!!!

Joe Walsh used to do that for leads on tours with the eagles sneak in the theme from I dream of Genie or bewitched or the flintstones. Good times!😀
You are changing my guitar world. Danke.
As a noob in instruments just wanna say YOU'RE AMAZING. Even the hair😍
That hybrid picking is such a staple in my playing. I use my middle finger to pick at times to help play fast licks or when string skipping can be tough. I learned it from cliffs of dover, but I applied it everywhere.
Great lesson and tones man, and that LP is effin' gorgeous. Nice job!
thanks bro everytime i watch your videos i have something new to add to my playing!!
Really appreciate these little lessons and tricks, your approach and teaching style is relatable and easy to understand and put to use! Thanks and keep doing what you do!
pentatonic , Pentatonic , PENTATONIC 👍👍 ☺️
You’re a really good teacher Bro
Who are the 3 lost in space folk who disliked this, thanks Robert I bought some of your course and they're as awesome as this man!
Really diggin' that Custom. Yea, looks 70's, but sounds timeless.
that intro deserves to become a full fledged song XD pentatonic !
Nice 👍
I love short little tips on videos, thanks Rob.
That jam at the end is the best part of the vid- keep those coming man!!
I was expecting all the natural minor nerds to be flaming pentatonics in the comments. I'm pleasantly surprised.. I personally love pentatonics and I live in my majors and minors. Great lesson as usual!🤘
That Les Paul is so shiny I can see MY reflection in it if I get to close to my TV. I love your taste in instruments.
Im just gonna let you know that this is a great lesson.

This was great! I’ve been playing for a few years now and haven’t heard of these tricks. I’m definitely gonna use these!
When he's talking about bending up to the note, right after he says "It almost sounds bad" @5:33 He plays the beginning of the "Three's Company" theme lmfao 😂
Love your vids! Learning as many of the licks/riffs in your vids as I can, even put some difficult(for me) ones in my practice routine.
Btw that exit riff was awesome
#2 tickled my brain. Loved it. Will definitely add to my bag of tricks.
Awesome simple ideas to get me out of just moving up and down the scale shapes! Thanks 👍🏻
2 seconds into the video and I’m f’in subbed ! You’re awesome , man !
That pinch technique is also prevalent in such songs as Sultans of Swing and Helter Skelter
Great, useful lesson. Thank you
I'm going to get MILES from this lesson! Thanks Robert.
Juicy little tidbits...thanks for sharing with us old ham and eggers. 👍
All great tips. Especially #2. Implementing now and forever.
Super good. Thanks a lot. Regards Henrik

5:30 is the blues version of the three's company soundtrack
You are the coolest guy on UA-cam!!!
Dime did that bend to the note thing alot as well, the Texas pull
Great video Robert! Enjoyed that alot! Love tje channel by the way 🎸
Some say when it comes to pentatonic, keep it simple :)

Good stuff, thanks Robert. 🙂👍
Bro, we need that 80's course.
Man thats what I needed. Thank you for this. It really helps a ton. And yes, I already subscribed months ago.
in the 2nd tip that one note that almost sounded bad just sounds bluesy to me. i think im so use to hearing it that now it just sounds in key.
Love your lessons
