Congrats! Thank you for that trip back to sixth grade. 2010 was the first year I was really exposed to pop music on my own. Remember a lot of the hits of Kesha, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Usher, Lady Gaga, and the whole bunch of club and non club songs. Enjoy thinking back to hearing all those songs on the school bus, middle school dances, TV, etc. Been watching your videos for a year now and enjoy your take on pop music. Your Billboard Breakdown have made me more aware of the Hot 100, how it determines where music is going and tracking what’ll be the next big hit.
Mark, you are one of the best music reviewers not just on UA-cam but in general. I want to thank you for keeping me up to date with Billboard every week and never failing to make me laugh. Congratulations on 30,000 subscribers.
I know I’ve already said this on Twitter, but I really want to say it here: You’re a big inspiration for me in reviewing country music myself, so thanks for being great!
Woah. Flashback to 6th grade. That was the year I actually got into mainstream radio (for, like, two years, but still). Music was my only escape from school. I look back to that time, and I cringe most of the time. Music is one of the few good memories from middle school.
Nick Cruz It's funny. Selena is not someone i would call talented at all, but i enjoy a few of her songs, probably more than i should. Naturally, Slow Down, A Year Without Rain (more back then), and It Ain't Me (although it's a feature) and Fetish more recently are songs i enjoy. So i disagree with both of your statements, although of course most of Selena's songs are bad.
I find it kinda funny that the only song this list had in common with Todd's was the #1 (not counting HMs). And since that list came out in 2011 and this one was current, I think that speaks to the real staying power of that song.
I still occasionally hear it on country and even pop radio today. It’s not just good, it’s iconic. And honestly, when we look back at the decade, this is probably gonna be one of the songs that everyone remembers, regardless of genre.
I'd agree with you on Selena Gomez until It Ain't Me, which is easily her best. Of course that's a Kygo song so whether that counts or not is up to you.
I'll be honest, I was expecting a lot more Ke$ha to be on this list. Also, I'm glad you put "Haven't Met You Yet" on this list. I remember playing it in band in high school.
Here's My Favorite Song's From 2010: 1 ) Not Afraid - Eminem 2 ) Nothing On You - B.o.B ft Bruno Mars 3 ) The Only Exception - Paramore 4 ) Bad Romance - Lady Gaga 5 ) Need You Now - Lady Antebellum 6 ) There Goes My Baby - Usher 7 ) Bulletproff - La Roux 8 ) Magic - B.o.B ft Rivers Cusmo 9 ) King Of Anything - Sara Bareillas 10 ) According to You - Orianthi Honorable Metions : - Do You Remember ? - Jay Sean, Lil Jon, and Sean Paul - Love the Way You Lie - Rihanna ft Eminem - Animal - Neon Trees - Tik Tok - Kesha ( Pretty much the only pre-2017 Kesha song I liked ) - Whataya Want From Me - Adam Lambert - American Honey - Lady Antebellum - Alejandro - Lady Gaga - California Gurls - Katy Perry ft Snoop Dogg - Just the Way You Are - Bruno Mars - Telephone - Lady Gaga ft Beyonce - Over/ Find Your Love - Drake - Airplanes - B.o.B ft Hayley Williams - The House that Built Me - Miranda Lambert - Unthinkable (I'm Ready) - Alicia Keys - My Chick Bad - Ludacris ft Nicki Minaj - Misery - Maroon 5 - Breakhaven - The Script - Just a Dream - Nelly - Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart - Alicia Keys - Live Like We're Dying - Kris Allen - All I Do is Win - DJ Khaled/T-P/ Ludacris/Snoop Dogg/Rick Ross - Say Something - Timbaland ft Drake - Undo It - Carrie Underwood - Naturally - Selena Gomez & The Scene - I Made It - (Cash Money Heroes) Now all these song's I really do like and hold extremely high nostalgia and memories for me, but yeah a lot of these I can agree would probably have not made my best list in almost any other year. Despite these unfortunate trends though, 2010 wasn't just a completely worthless year. Despite music and the economy being in the dumpster that year, there was still a lot of good to great pop culture to come out in terms of TV and Movies. And while 2010 may have been Bottom 5 material for music, it's definetly Top 5 for animation because 2010 was an AMAZING year for animation !! Seriously there was so many great and impactful stuff to come out in 2010, largely in cartoons, especially in comparison to 2009 which was just a complete dead year for cartoons ( Adventure Time, Regular Show, My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, Generator Rex, Archer (technically started in 09'), Black Panther, The Ricky Gervais Show, M.A.D, Sym Biotic Titans, G.I Joe Renegades, Young Justice, etc. ). Animated movies were also pretty good as well ( Tangled, Toy Story 3, Despicable Me, Megamind, How To Train Your Dragon, The Secret World Of Arrietty, and a few others ). So with all that aside, 2010 wasn't completely worthless and your picks for the most part are what stood out the most in terms of what that year had to offer musically. Great vid Mark.
Dude I've been a huge fan of yours since 2015. This is so AWESOME!!!! I can only wish someday I can be as great a critic and get 30K subs. But you .... DEFINITELY deserve it. 2010 had some good songs, but some horrible ones too
Fo me i would be 10-take it off (always loved it) 9: magic 8: DJ Got Us Falling in Love 7: Only Exception 6:Naturally 5: Airplanes 4: Miss Me 3: Haven't Met You Yet 2: Need You Know 1: Find Your Love
You're absolutely right about how Selena Gomez hasn't made anything on the level of "Naturally" since it came out. She really needs to take a step back and think about whether or not she even WANTS to be an artist.
My Top 10: 10: Love The Way You Lie-Eminem ft. Rihanna. 9: Airplanes-B.O.B ft. Hayley Williams of Paramore. 8: Misery-Maroon 5. 7: Viva La Vida-Coldplay. 6: Just The Way You Are-Bruno Mars. 5: The Catalyst-Linkin Park. 4: Animal-Neon Trees. 3: Back To December-Taylor Swift. 2: Only Girl (In The World)-Rihanna. 1: Need You Now-Lady Antebellum. Honorable Mentions: Nothing On You-B.O.B ft. Bruno Mars. Tik Tok-Ke$ha. California Girls-Katy Perry ft. Snoop Dog. DJ Got Us Falling In Love-Usher ft. Pitbull. Teenage Dream-Katy Perry. You Belong With Me-Taylor Swift.
Wohoo! You deserve all those subs, you are my favourite music critic and your content is always great! Cant wait to see more lists, BB episodes and album reviews!
Congratulations on 30k subscribers! You are one of the best music critics I know and underrated till this day... I have to thank you for the 2 years that I stay tuned to your channel and also to help my english to improve, considering the fact I'm brazilian hehehe
Congrats on 30,000 subscribers. My own list would be slightly different, I'd probably throw "Mine" by Taylor Swift, maybe even "Today Was a Fairy Tale" in there. I'd probably include "Billionaire" by Travie McCoy and Bruno Mars too. And I didn't mind "Party In The U.S.A." by Miley Cyrus either.
Congrats at 30k subs man! :D Here is my list: HMs: - Carry Out - Billionaire - Alejandro - Meet You Halfway - Not Afraid. 10. Whataya Want From Me 9. Cooler Than Me 8. Nothin' On You 7. Love The Way You Lie 6. Break Your Heart 5. Take It Off 4. All I Do Is Win 3. DJ Got Us Fallin In Love 2. Magic 1. Bulletproof
Congrats to the high heavens on 30,000 subs. This was an amazing list. I'm honestly surprised how many of these songs I knew considering I was an idiot ten year old in 2010, does to show how long some of these lasted I guess.
I absolutely cannot stand Stuck Like Glue and I hate you for reminding me it exists. Rest of this list I've never even heard half of these but I can't really complain.
I don't get why people say that "Recovery" is a bad album. I know, it's shadyless and slightly humorless album, but...if you dig into it, tracks like "Going Through Changes", "Talkin' 2 Myself", "You're Never Over" are some of the most mature songs in Eminem's history.
This is an awesome list! The thing that surprises me is the lack of Bruno Mars on this list despite how enormous he was in 2010. In a different note, Magic by BoB is one of my favorite songs ever, and it's got more than 1500 times in my phone
There won't. When he put the year-end lists up for Patreon requests, he said Best or Worst only. The next one coming will be a Best list from the 60's.
Bad Romance was such a bad song. Like what the, rarararara, gagagagagaga, olalalaalalala dafu****... only the music video makes it iconic. And that it's the most Lady Gaga-ish song from her.
I loved DJ Got Us Fallin In Love, but hesitated on where I should put it... ...then I heard the Minecraft Parody again and this song just skyrocketed to the number one spot. I fucking love it.
Darn you, Mark, for bringing back great memories from college with this countdown! ;) Haha, seriously, great list, man! I have to ask, though; what's your opinion on the people who claim "Need You Know" was a rip-off of "Eye in the Sky" by The Alan Parsons Project? Personally, I think it's nonsense.
For a English language country/adult alternative to be a huge hit in Brazil is hard, but that Lady Antebellum song was. Ahahahaha I kinda hate it. Paramore is a band that is growing on me, I started to listen more after Hard Times. Congrats on more subscribers! I was around since the 10k and I hope you achieve the 100k+. You're my favorite music critic on UA-cam. Thank you.
this accomplishes 3 things in concept alone celebration of your 30k patreon related thing and now you can get around to doing the 2011 and 2012 written versions and turn those into video form like you said you wanted to alo thank you to the one guy who opted to put this on the schedule
10: It's sad how forgotten this song has become. Even by the end of 2010 people had mostly forgotten about it. I'm not the biggest fan of her vocals and the lyrics are kind of basic, I do love the music (especially the guitar solo) 9: I know nothing about this song at all. All I know is that Alicia Keys is almost always great (not so much recently though) 8: In hindsight, I'm willing to give these club songs more slack for being catchy, but I still can't stand this song. Kesha's autotune is far more annoying here than anywhere else and whatever points I give it for being catchy are ruined by the fact that it's a rip off of the Streets of Cairo. However, I will give it some credit for have darker lyrics than most club songs and I really want to hear a rock version of it 7:I don't think I've ever heard the full version, though I will say that the chorus is pretty damn catchy, which I feel far more comfortable saying now then back in 2010. Also, I'm sure you probably know this, but See You Again and Naturally were written and produced by the same people. So that may be why you like both. 6. A very interesting song, made even more interesting considering Eminem and Rhianna's relationships and how people would interpret this song in 2017. One of the best parts of the song is how Eminem, as the abusive boyfriend, has an internal struggle and seems to regret, but not be able to stop himself from being abusive, which seems to be pretty realistic. 5:This song is a cheesy love song at its core. However, Michael Buble's sincerity and charm is able to make this silly love song come across as really charming. Don't like it as much as I used to, but still puts a smile on my face. 4: Sorry, but I just find this whole song cringe-inducing. It feels like your mom trying desperately to be hip and embarrassing everyone. The pre-chorus is catchy, but the chorus, verses and especially the bridge are just so embarrassing that it ruins whatever charm this silly love song had going for me. 3: This is just as great as I remember it being. I loved the hell out of this back in 2010 for not being a club song and especially for being rock. But unlike a song like Just the Way You Are, which I loved back then but now is pretty bland, Animal still holds up today. Considering how good Everybody Talks and Sleeping With a Friend are, this is the debut that I'm happiest had more hits. 2:I think the song is really catchy, Sara Bareilles gives a really good vocal performance and I enjoy the lyrics, calling out a condescending asshole. However, considering your interpretation of it (It doesn't even say anything about a partner or even a man specifically) and how many people would agree with it, I'm glad it got big when it did. Not just for standing out in a really good way, but before SJWs began ruining a lot of things, like they would with this song HM1: I'll give it credit for using actual guitar when it was rarely used it pop music, but Katy Perry's vocals usually blow and this song is no exception HM2: Sorry, but as much as the song sounds pretty good, I can't stand the lyrics of this song. They make Taio Cruz come off horribly, and I'm kind of surprised that you don't really have a problem with them. HM3: Pretty solid song overall. From Hayley Williams's vocals to B.O.B talking about wishing to have a simpler life (very rare in 2010) this is a really good song. It's just a shame that people will often remember him as the flat-earth believer. HM4: Not really familiar with this one, though Paramore has some pretty solid songs HM5: One of the better Drake songs, and one where his monotone delivery felt like it belonged in a song because this was a love song where he actually sounded somewhat genuine. HM6: Really fun and catchy song, even if it is a bit silly. Even if Rivers is phoning it in, he still sounds pretty good. Not much else to say. HM7: The best Usher song of the era and perhaps the best Usher song since Confessions. I love how the song isn't about partying to have fun, but just to escape a crap life and the beat is really catchy. Pitbull or not, this is a great song and it's aged incredibly well considering other dance songs 1: Todd in the Shadows made a really good point when he put the song as his favorite. He said that Need You Now showed true heartbreak (and drinking) in country music when it was sorely lacking it (and still is in the mainstream) and I agree that the lyrics are the backbone of this great song, as well as the vocals being really good. And your interpretation of it, about how people would rather have a crap relationship then none at all, really makes this song better then I thought. Great #1. Didn't agree with all of the choices, but I thought this was a pretty good list. I've always wanted to see you do more top 10s, particularly of older songs, and I'm looking forward to the next ones.
Congrats! Thank you for that trip back to sixth grade. 2010 was the first year I was really exposed to pop music on my own. I feel the exact same way! 😱
Mark, you are one of the best music reviewers not just on UA-cam but in general. I want to thank you for keeping me up to date with Billboard every week and never failing to make me laugh. Congratulations on 30,000 subscribers.
HPFMav Same here!
HPFMav you nailed it, just add that he also gave me some amazing albums.
HPFMav Same I hope he keeps gaining more subscribers
Congrats on 30k subs, dude! Great list as well!
I know I’ve already said this on Twitter, but I really want to say it here: You’re a big inspiration for me in reviewing country music myself, so thanks for being great!

Acewheel 58 Same lol
I unironically love Haven't Met You Yet by Michael Buble. I've been a middle aged lady most of my life, and I'm still only 27.
Man, B.o.B used to be so good.
(...see what I did there?)
riddy-pr No, please explain it to us cause we can’t figure it out. I’m kidding. 😂
Bob is a soft drink brand here, kinda fits
I’m extremely disappointed he didn’t put Nothing on You anywhere
YES! Some praise for Naturally, that song is so great.
Mark your videos are just so fun to watch. 30k was way well deserved. Pff, you may need more!
Finally! A 30k special involving a throwback review.
As overplayed as I thought that song was, I'm going to have to agree with you.
Umm
Animal was on both lists.
Hell, Todd’s WORST from that year is on this list
@@SurgingSpecs I think Todd said on Twitter that technically Deuces was his worst for 2010
I'd agree with you on Selena Gomez until It Ain't Me, which is easily her best. Of course that's a Kygo song so whether that counts or not is up to you.
for 50k do "top 10 weirdest ass faces spectrum pulse has made"
Pupsi follow best of spectrum face
I'll be honest, I was expecting a lot more Ke$ha to be on this list.
Also, I'm glad you put "Haven't Met You Yet" on this list. I remember playing it in band in high school.
Yesss #2! I've loved that song since I first heard it in 2010, so glad to see it on the list!
Holy shit! Someone else actually LOVES Naturally?!?!?
Thats comforting to know.
OMG I forgot that most of these songs were hits. Thanks for all the great jams that I need to go back to!
Great list Mark. Congrats on the 30k.
OMG SO MUCH NOSTALGIA
Congratulations, love your work.
Where’s Nothing On You?!!! That song is WAAAAAY better than almost everything on the list

Now all these song's I really do like and hold extremely high nostalgia and memories for me, but yeah a lot of these I can agree would probably have not made my best list in almost any other year.
Wow. You have great taste. Your list is so diverse and also goes out of its way to compliment mainstream music.
Dude I've been a huge fan of yours since 2015. This is so AWESOME!!!!
I can only wish someday I can be as great a critic and get 30K subs.
But you .... DEFINITELY deserve it. 2010 had some good songs, but some horrible ones too
I sometimes forget how amazing Need You Now is. It's soooo good.
Love the vids Mark 🤣🤣🤣 , congrats on 30K !!

I agree I unironically LOVE See You Again by Miley Cyrus and Naturally by Selena Gomez
Great list and congrats on 30k subs. Bit surprised you didn't add If I did young or the house that built me but great list.
All of these were my jams the summer before I started high school!
Heard Animal come on and got the chills. It seems dumb to be nostalgic for a time that was only 7 years ago, but man.
But yes, congrats on 30K subscribers. Quality content as always.
Find Your Love by Drake will always be favorite hit of this year
Fo me i would be

You're absolutely right about how Selena Gomez hasn't made anything on the level of "Naturally" since it came out.
She really needs to take a step back and think about whether or not she even WANTS to be an artist.
Finally you do the top format in the usual format.
Congrats on 30k.
Lol I made a script a month ago talking about the same subject but I was never motivated to make the video.
BTW, I put Nothin on You as #1.
Honestly, I'd put Nothing On You ahead of Magic myself. Also, Chasing Cars would likely be on the best hits of 2010 for me also.
Online Mo' Graphics that is an amazing song I forgot!
His no1 is still easily the best song that year.
Crazy Luigi Chasing Cars is from 2006
Thijs van asselt I mean, Need You Now was ok.
good video my man congrats!

All this Nostalgia makes me wanna cry tears of joy 😢
Congrats on 30,000 subscribers. My own list would be slightly different, I'd probably throw "Mine" by Taylor Swift, maybe even "Today Was a Fairy Tale" in there. I'd probably include "Billionaire" by Travie McCoy and Bruno Mars too. And I didn't mind "Party In The U.S.A." by Miley Cyrus either.

This was an amazing list. I'm honestly surprised how many of these songs I knew considering I was an idiot ten year old in 2010, does to show how long some of these lasted I guess.
I got so happy when i saw Naturally in the video
Congratulations on 30,000 subscribers! I have been subscribed since a coupe thousand (your ARTPOP review). I'm so happy for you!
Very surprised nothin on you wasn't on here
That was the first time I heard Bruno Mars! Also I loved that song! (Also it was a better Bruno song than Millionaire or Just the Way You Are.)
I absolutely cannot stand Stuck Like Glue and I hate you for reminding me it exists.
Rest of this list I've never even heard half of these but I can't really complain.
Congrats Mark!
I don't get why people say that "Recovery" is a bad album. I know, it's shadyless and slightly humorless album, but...if you dig into it, tracks like "Going Through Changes", "Talkin' 2 Myself", "You're Never Over" are some of the most mature songs in Eminem's history.
King of Anything is a great song.
I wish The House That Built Me was on here.
oh god I worked at Kohl's in 2013 and #5/#4 are giving me PTSD flashbacks to their playlist of like 15 songs
This is an awesome list! The thing that surprises me is the lack of Bruno Mars on this list despite how enormous he was in 2010. In a different note, Magic by BoB is one of my favorite songs ever, and it's got more than 1500 times in my phone
Man I miss Michael Bublé being on the charts...
Please tell me there will be a Top 10 Worst list
I hope so now! :)
There won't. When he put the year-end lists up for Patreon requests, he said Best or Worst only. The next one coming will be a Best list from the 60's.
Ooh! Any specific year in the 60s?
elmo0280 Grocery Bag!
Yes, but I'd rather let that be a surprise for now.
I remember 2010 in music very much. Literally everyone was making those EDM party songs (fist pumping)
Where’s Taio Cruz - Dynamite
congrats man
I LOVE NATURALLY TOO 😂😂😂😂😂
Michael Jackson's album, as well as his planned tour, was called This Is It, NOT This Is Us.
this video was uploaded at such perfect timing because I've been listening and vibing to Need You Now a day before this was uploaded haha
Not a single Lady Gaga song? Not even Bad Romance?
Anonymous asdfg I think bad romance made the 2009 year end list
harrison duncan it didn’t. As for my opinion. I would put Alejandro on the list.
Bad Romance was such a bad song. Like what the, rarararara, gagagagagaga, olalalaalalala dafu****... only the music video makes it iconic. And that it's the most Lady Gaga-ish song from her.
@@knowyourroleboulevard7119 Your wrong.
@@knowyourroleboulevard7119 Bruh it's her most popular song ever
Hoo boy, Todd in the Shadows is gonna kick your ass for that #8. XD

God damn, the nostalgia

I loved DJ Got Us Fallin In Love, but hesitated on where I should put it...
...then I heard the Minecraft Parody again and this song just skyrocketed to the number one spot. I fucking love it.
ah I see, a man of culture as well
Somebody take me back to the days where everyone still thought the earth was round
If Kanye isn't on the list at all I am going to be a little upset.
I will take Find Your Love because it was written and produced by Kanye
well, he has a mention on a drake song, but you're probably gonna be upset.
Kanye didn't even have one of his own songs on the year-end this year.
Huh, you are totally right. Honestly I just assumed he did because he had 3 songs chart in the top 20 and runaway peaked at 12.
Punk Buster they're probably on the 2011 year end list, MBDTF came out late in '10
nice to see Animal on the list! For me with Need You Now the best songs of 2010
Darn you, Mark, for bringing back great memories from college with this countdown! ;) Haha, seriously, great list, man!
Thank you.
Strange that dancing on my own didn't chart.
Nice
this accomplishes 3 things in concept alone
celebration of your 30k
patreon related thing
and now you can get around to doing the 2011 and 2012 written versions and turn those into video form like you said you wanted to
alo thank you to the one guy who opted to put this on the schedule
watching this list the only thing running through my head was "HOLY FUCK WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE?"
Not gonna lie- I never thought I would see Ke$ha and Selena Gomez on a 'best-of' list of 2010.
Congrats on 30k!
Naturally Selena Gomez legend
10: It's sad how forgotten this song has become. Even by the end of 2010 people had mostly forgotten about it. I'm not the biggest fan of her vocals and the lyrics are kind of basic, I do love the music (especially the guitar solo)
9: I know nothing about this song at all. All I know is that Alicia Keys is almost always great (not so much recently though)
8: In hindsight, I'm willing to give these club songs more slack for being catchy, but I still can't stand this song. Kesha's autotune is far more annoying here than anywhere else and whatever points I give it for being catchy are ruined by the fact that it's a rip off of the Streets of Cairo. However, I will give it some credit for have darker lyrics than most club songs and I really want to hear a rock version of it
7:I don't think I've ever heard the full version, though I will say that the chorus is pretty damn catchy, which I feel far more comfortable saying now then back in 2010.
Not just for standing out in a really good way, but before SJWs began ruining a lot of things, like they would with this song
HM1: I'll give it credit for using actual guitar when it was rarely used it pop music, but Katy Perry's vocals usually blow and this song is no exception
HM2: Sorry, but as much as the song sounds pretty good, I can't stand the lyrics of this song.
HM4: Not really familiar with this one, though Paramore has some pretty solid songs
HM5: One of the better Drake songs, and one where his monotone delivery felt like it belonged in a song because this was a love song where he actually sounded somewhat genuine.
Pitbull or not, this is a great song and it's aged incredibly well considering other dance songs
1: Todd in the Shadows made a really good point when he put the song as his favorite.
I've always wanted to see you do more top 10s, particularly of older songs, and I'm looking forward to the next ones.
he always said that he would have all the year end lists of this decade by 2020
MrMike855 #5 *What's wrong with that?*
Loved this video! But can't wait for the 2010 worst, so that I can watch him bash 'Hey, Soul Sister'
