Both Japanese, both good. The perfect engine here would be the SR16VE/SR20VE with the B16B gearbox from honda. They even make a belhousing for the K series gearbox on these engines.Face it Nissan you made gears longer than the road to mexico.
It’s possible they did it to reduce wheelspin at launch. Arguably the VE’s has a smoother launch while Hondas choice to go with shorter gears results in more wheelspin.
vvl vs vtec is a big thing in cape Town South Africa. We got vvl's running deep 11s in to 10s with oem internals and cams wich is the famous N1's from the SR16ve. We mostly run one stage and they give most vtecs a hiding until the guys decide to put a K20 in and then it's a bit more even. We even got vvl and K20 swaps in rabbits ffs lol
I don't understand why nissan make more of these or make newer versions of this motor, Instead we got the QR series motors which were ok but not as great as these. it was clearly gold, look at how well it worked for honda
There is no which is better or bad. Japanese automotive was always trying to develop engines with low emissions a lot earlier than the other car manufacturers. Driving lift valve technology from toyota, mazda, nissan honda you have a car that in city has a very nice and smooth operation and when you hit the gas you have a very good amount of horsepower from a tiny N/A engine. Japanese also are always a step in front of all the others producing hybrid technology (before 20 years) and now hydrogen technology. All the others are just copying.
The honda was the first in applying valve lift in a B16 in the late 80s. Nissan just copied it l, look at nissan neo now they are not in production anymore while honda still producing vtec with turbo today.
@@conradsealy9603 if nissans neo vvl was great why they stop producing it? SR20 is great in turbo form but if you compare it with K20 with turbo, the K has more after market support compare to SR. Some K series are producing 3 to 4 hundred hp in all motor form and running 9s in quarter mile.
K series and f series can beat an sr20ve but a sr20 vet and det can beat k and f series but mind you that’s a turbo charged made motor so in theory if you turbo a k or and f series depending on the grip and weight of the vehicle and the tune Honda’s will have a good shot beating it on same weight honestly I think it will be close due to the torque sr motor makes off the line
@@conradsealy9603 Saving up to put a xtrail sr20vet engine in my almera Hatch. that think is nuts, if only nissan had a hot hatch to developed. stock configuration is about 280HP. I can't wait to buy and install
NISSAN made neo vvl , so as to have a better engine than honda vtec, and honda responded by making Kseries (K20 - ivtec which is the most advanced normallu aspirated engine ever made)
SR20VE power

Love the VVL.👍👍

I wanna know what upgrades cud be done to a sr20de

Neo VVL also affects timing but for branding the timing bit was left out
This video offers an amazing explanation. Thank you
your welcome! glad you found it helpful :)
Vvl top 😍❤️
i love NEO VVL
Love vtec sound
Something important about VVL: By lifting valves on 2 stages, you have of nearly 1 kg of torque gain!!!
We put a SR20 NEO VVL on my friends nissan sentra b14
Yeah I'm sure now that my exhaust solenoid isn't working, thanks for the video!
Does anyone know where i can find the video on its own at 2:16?
i forgot where I found the video is but I do have the full file if you want?

I know now Nissan Neo VVL have 2 stage for their vvl
That stage 2 vvl sounds fuckin awesome
Agreed
Best video explaining it!
Vvl is the best
Baby Godzilla..

Jeffrey Garcia so what?)
And Nissan's VVL is superior to hondas vtec. Theres no doubt the SR20 has done quicker and faster 1/4 mile times. Soooo.......
yeah thats a real shame, would've been interesting to see where NEOVVL could've been...

Copy but improved 😜☺️
bro u really feel neovvl kick in tho vs vtec...
Vvl is better
hahaha
Poeple in cape town don't know how do modify hondas right that's why they loose so against vvl
VTEC the best, Honda for life!

Lolol. Keep dreaming. In the top ten fastest 4 cylinder 1/4 mile drag cars, there are NO hondas but two of that top ten are SR20 powered.😉

loved it thx.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Gast VTEC😻
Nissan was the first company vvt technology
Vvl for ever
I'm a toyota guy dual beams will eat vvl anyday at anytime
In your dreams
VVL N1 beat vtec type-r
so vvl is just discount vtec
Vtec is discount VVL
VVL is discount iVTEC. K series smacks all NA 4 bangers.
