Rosie the shark - Her final journey to Crystal World

- Rosie The Shark, who is a dead preserved 5 meter Great White shark that was sitting in an abandoned wildlife park in Australia. A few months ago I explored this park and then my video went viral leading to the re-homing of Rosie after vandals went in and tried to destroy her.
This has been such a great journey to follow and be apart of.

@@debbiemontague2355 I don't know the full story but apparently she was caught in a fishing net and ended up dying. She was the biggest shark caught at the time, I believe, so that's why they preserved her body.
@@CatLuvr69 And then she was gifted to Wildlife World Park, was displayed for a number of years until the park was closed down in 2015 due to their permit not being renewed to operate and keep live animals. There was a court issue by Rosie's original owners to get her back too.

THE REAL STORY:
As great as this story is, Rosie had passed away before she was even put in the tank. She was rescued after being caught in a fishing net, but passed away from (I'm guessing) her wounds. Her body was then put into the tank you see in the video, for preservation. The park ended up closing, the owner had no where else to put a large tank with a deceased shark in it, so he was forced to just leave her there until better accommodations could be made. The guys (guy all in black at the end of the video and his friends) found her, filmed her and posted the video. Vandals watched the original video, figured out where the tank was located, they threw the garabage in anattempted to damage the remains while leaving the cover off, allowing the liquid inside to dehydrate. Rosie had only been out of the formaldehyde completely for about twenty-four hours at the time of this video. The wonderful gentleman that you hear speaking on the video then decided to give Rosie a new home.
Though she did suffer and pass away from the actions of humans, it wasn't a cruel park owner or horrible kids, it was overfishing of the oceans.
She died in the fish net because she couldn't breath. The fishermen sold her.

I have seen many Goths with fabulous makeup, done very well with much imagination, it's not a very accurate description of my look. Maybe the dark lipstick, but that is the extent of what could be considered "Goth". Since "Face" was included, I'm forced to believe you were referring to the entire look as opposed to only one component.

I live near Rosie's original location (Phillip Island), I remember seeing her back many years ago when the park was still running. I was scared shitless of it (I was a child)! I stood in front of her tank staring into her face, thinking: "This is the last image shark victims ever see." Regardless of how much I fear sharks, the disrespectful vandalism of her tank made me very angry, and I was very relieved that she's been saved! I intend to go visit her one day in her new home. Though, I recall Rosie being larger than that many years ago. Either the chemicals and decay shrunk her size, or maybe it's because I was a kid at the time - but she definitely looks smaller now than I remember.
i remember the i watched the exploration video of them finding the shark and just by watching them get so close to it made me super uncomfortable and about to shit myself. also i live in america so ive never seen or heard of anything like this ever before.

If Australia can do this for a dead shark then Japan can definitely do this for Honey the dolphin who is still alive. I’m so glad that Rosie is going to have a new home.
Edit: For those who don’t know. Honey is a dolphin that has been abandoned in Inubosaki Marine Park Aquarium in Japan after the owners had to close down the park due to lack of income and they had no money to remove the animals. Honey and 42 penguins along with hundreds of fish and reptiles have been abandoned there and are slowly deteriorating in health. A video shows that the animals are still being fed but it is unknown if that will continue as the owners must be paying someone to do this and we know that they are bankrupt.

They're trying to but as they can't find the owners the legal battle to move the animals without permission is ridiculous. Very easy to find this info out. They're trying but the current laws in place make it difficult as they must have the owners permission and they have gone into the wind.
Considering a preserved great white in a tank full of extremely toxic chemicals it was a good catch to find that before some random kids broke it to screw everyone over in that area. Doesn’t seem like much of anyone else knows of this other situation or atleast it’s not info that is easily stumbled upon like this was.

Rosie's story is honestly really satisfying. How her body was able to (somewhat) stay in tact all these years is incredible. I'm also thankful how everyone was being respectful with her and not just dumping her in the middle of nowhere to rot, or just leaving her there in that tank to be disrespected by ignorant explorers and tourists. So happy Rosie was taken to her final resting place. Truly amazing!

I couldn't help but keep a smile on my face watching this. I'm just so exited that Rosie can finally be in a safer area and be taken care of and preserved better.
I'd also like to let people know, she wasn't ever alive in the amusement park/wildlife center place. I read it online somewhere but I forget my source. But I know that is indeed true considering the tank size. And just, what type of human being would do such a thing to something so beautiful and living. They would've removed all the other animals and left a living shark?
Rosie is honestly just such a bizarre, amazing, and enjoyable find for the public. Being able to see how well she stayed preserved after all these years in that tank is just outstanding. Screw those who threw all that trash at her into the tank. And the total punk who threw the chair.

When I first saw the video with Rosie being basically a shadow in a super murky and green looking stuff in her tank, it scared me a good bit because it just looked horrific. I'm already afraid of sharks but I think they are absolutely beautiful and fascinating creatures. It's so sad when places go under and just leave things behind like Rosie was left. I'm so glad she has a new home :) it wouldn't have been long before her tank cracked and all that formaldehyde and whatnot leaked out and poisoned the environment and left poor Rosie to rot away... But she's safe now :)

I found this out with less than 5 minutes on Google.
I want her rescued but please look into it instead of putting comments about her but no actual information about the situation. She and the other animals need to be rescued desperately and the powers that be are doing their best with the restraints they have on them.
I think the work that has gone into preserving Rosie and getting her to a new home where she can be viewed and studied by younger generations is amazing and I'm very happy this has happened!

Not eating the meat was disrespectful to begin. Perhaps in making her a mount to view and educate others about shark a noble thought - but that was just dashed to pieces when vandals got after that tank, drained the formaldehyde out. By remounting her in enclosure they have attempted to continue that noble thought - that she may serve as a lesson to the world.

Rosie's interesting plot twist: *As Rosie the shark was being transported to the Wildlife Wonderland in Victoria, frozen in a refrigerated truck, it was impounded by the Government of South Australia because a woman had been reported missing, requiring an autopsy of the shark at the South Australian Museum. Following the autopsy, the great white shark was stuffed with dacron and preserved in a formaldehyde solution in a custom built tank. * No remains of the woman were found in Rosie, so she was cut up for nothing 😞🦈 *

wow a lot of people here in the comments didn't see the video where it explained that Rosie was already dead when se first arrived to the animal park where she was later abandoned. this is still an amazing video and weird that I care so much about a dead shark. but I'm glad that she made it to a place where she can be properly preserved again
Thank you Luke for helping to raise awareness of Rosie, if you're video hadn't gone viral she'd have been forgotten forever, it's just unfortunate people decided to be idiots between the video going viral and her being re-homed but at least the story had a happy ending

I'm glad her body was dealt with in a respectful manner and given a new resting place that is more maintained and less isolated. I'm disappointed but not surprised to see all the vandalism and garbage that was put in/on the tank, at least now her body has a more respecting environment.
