That bonnet flipping up while driving must have been pretty stressful! I saw exactly the same thing happen on another UA-cam channel where they were taking an American muscle car for a test drive after repairing it. Everything else was fine but the bonnet was totally wrecked.
My grandfather was an opel addict. He ran an old school gas station with a garage around the back, where my mum grew up. He had a Kadett like that when I was a child, except it was like a red/orange color. He took really good care of it, right up until “the hurricane of 1999” where a roof fell on it. I still remember the lubrication tag on the gear shifter. But most of all, the smell. Opels of this era have a certain smell, which I got to reexperience it in an Astra a few years ago, and I was instantly taken back to getting ice creams on a summer day with my grandfather! I think he might have been one of the reasons why I really got into cars. He used to ask my about my mopeds etc. But I never learned to appreciate Opels the way he did haha! Anyway, glad to see you got a rear window for the Mercedes! Awesome stuff!
Eat your heart out, Jay Leno... Great collection of... projects. And the W123 is awesome! I can comiserate with the garage door/back window story - I did the same with the barn door glass of my T4 (a lot more difficult to find!). Look forward to more videos.
One thing about Mini automatics is people often say it's like driving a go-kart, just put it in drive and mash the pedal, of course being a BL product, the transmission hits top gear before it's even at 30mph, so, motorway driving in them can be quite loud!!! As for the W123, seems like a perfect swap, one thing I got corrected about is the way thy badge them, if it's a "300TD" it's a "Tourer, Diesel", if it's a "300DT", it's a "Diesel, Turbo", and of course, "300TDT", "Tourer, Diesel, Turbo", almost a militaristic naming system, this received from a mercedes nut across the pond... :P
Great Merc !. I had a W124 in the same colour. I am not a fan of the chrome surrounds on the wheel arches. They are water traps and then rust. There is enough chrome on the car anyway. Sometimes more is less. One other thing is I changed out the Orange indicator lenses for clear and put in orange bulbs. It reduces contrast in the appearance and it gives it a smoother line.
Nice old benz wagon, i have a CE in the same colour in Australia. No critism but maybe u need to focus one car at a time. that storage garage structure looks rather interesting
I really like your new car the W123 300D a very reliable car probably the best Mercedes-Benz ever made if only the new Mercedes-Benz were as good as this one none of the new Mercedes-Benzes will be around in 40 years time but your W123 station wagon will if the deaded rust doesn't get it
A wonderful update. I am very surprised you got rid of your Porsche but the Mercedes estate is a great car. Funnily enough my very first car in 1979 here in England was a bright yellow old Renault R4 and then a brand new Citroen Visa Club. Great cars and although I now have a fabulous Audi A8 I still miss those cars as they had such character.
Hi 😊 I recently started the restoration of my red BX 4x4 wagon. You could maybe find some inspiration in that cause I'm making a series of videos with that project. By the way, your new S123 was a really good new one! 👌
Nice with an Opel Kadett 1.4 , a real landeplage på de danske veje for godt 30 år siden👍 Øv at den fine Volvo 440 har fået ny ejer, en fin og "moderne bil" i (Seaside Garage regi) der kunne være en virkelig pæn driftsikker og stabil daglig driver!!! Kedeligt med endnu en MB123 More Visa GTI or Rover
I don't think changing a cam chain for a belt necisarily is strange. Alot of engines have really bad chains and need to be changed as often as a belt anyway.
Hmmmm, i think it’s time for a bet between us followers: how long will the W123 stay in Seppo’s possession….. (my guess is, that it’s gone before you know it. “Something IRRESISTIBLE came by. I HAD to own it, so the 123 had to go”)
So relieved it wasn't the Saab. Thrilled to see it. Get 'er done! Those Citroens are gorgeous too. Held og lykke!

I’m in love with the Saab 900 commander 😁

So many great cars! 300D 7 seater! That's an ultimate wagon! Congrats!

Congrats on the 300TD. This one’s a keeper.
Restored several Kadett E's 20 years ago 😂😂- Very easy to work on
The 300E TD is an inspired choice. What a beautiful wagon. I am really happy for you. Best wishes from Wellington, New Zealand.
waiting for a trigger set install :D
That barn is so empty without Dorris 😮
The merc as the family/ winter wagon…..the visa gti for dry days and fun

So I'm looking forward to you getting started on the Vw bubble project, it sounds exciting even if you didn't mention it ;-)
Yea
Congrats to your fleet upgrade/update 👍
The new car is great and just up your street , looking forward to videos on it.
I’m sure you could fund some of those projects by selling some stickers and mugs etc…
Stickers for patreons at the moment... maybe mugs in the future?
@@SeasideGarageMaybe special edition merchandise for patreons and a regular range of stickers, mugs, t-shirts for general sale?
@@johnsmout7802 cold be fun!
300TD is perfect. Not sure if it is perfect for you, but i wouldn´t sell that one...

Pity the CX is no longer around...
Glad it wasn’t the Saab 💘
What happened with the Citroën CX? Did you sell it?
