I love ant youtubers who actually know about ants, a pleasure to hear you speak about taxonomy of Formica and their biology. Very engaging narration and footage :)
about mites, the only time i had problem with them was when I gave fresh mealworms to my ants, now i just give cooked insects and never saw mites again

Thank you for making amazing content
i need a colony like these
This is awesome
"Formica obscuripes are kind of known for absolutely taking over entire areas." I have never seen them no matter what forest I go to 😭 😭

Mites are an issue specifically with Formica especially those that are wild caught colonies
Wow
Giving them pine resin ? May help with mites
It could however they aren't known to keep pine resin in the nests
Can these ants climb plastic or glass?
Yes incredibly easily
where can i get one
Figure out if they exist in your area, dig colony or find a queen to found
