    Something that is not being talked about much and I believe it's key to a long pull...
    FIRST the extreme flexibility through the core (watch where the upper body is when the left is down)
    SECOND the quickness in getting both feet on the ground (needed to create more pretension).
    A lot of throwers miss this. You can't do anything without both feet on the ground. Can't apply any force. The shot is taking you for a ride. This throw my friend, is showing the shot who's boss!
    When I was throwing, it was constantly drilled in my head... to have quick feet.
    Love the video, Thank you.

    I know like he really doesn't look like he's moving very fast. He stays so long out of the back. But he's like what six seven? So the linear speed that's going on is amazing

    Hi coach pls do video about:
    - core training for shot put and discus
    - chest flys for discus
    - what to do one day before a competition

      Google "bondarchuk transfer of training" and apply that to chest flys for discus. They would be considered a General Prep. Exercise.

    interesting that he dug in his left foot at almost exactly the same spot on each of those throws but moved his right foot so much before initiating the throws...and always to the left then to the right of the spot he dug into. but...he planted that right foot further to the right in subsequent throws, then at the furthest plant, he nailed that monster throw.

    I tend to avoid trying to copy his technique because hes just so much taller than me (and most other athletes). He more so takes his sweep leg really far away from the sector and just falls in. Hes way more linear than everyone else spinning with shot which is why he finishes like a glider. In my opinion for technique reasons, anyone under 6’4”should try copying kovaks and other more rotational throwers.

    Can't wait for him to throw 26.17 (and be first to throw 76')..... great breakdown and couldn't agree with you more that it he threw a little more to the left it might have nudged just a little further : )

    Dane, why do you think he sweeps his left leg so wide? Is that how you coach it?

    • @ThrowsUniversity
      @ThrowsUniversity  3 роки тому +2

      This allows for more energy out of the rotation and yes I do coach that.

    Kovacs has better technique. Any additional distance one can get from technique, Kovacs achieves that
