Nice little ending showing the true end game tag: The Desktop Empire
Fixed, thank you for pointing that out.
Noo would've been funny@@Theplaymaker57
The first time I ever tried a Tag Switch was a Pirate Great Britain game. Went from Irish Munster -> Ireland -> England -> Great Britain. Went for Luck of the Irish and Freest Man in the World achievements in the same run. Pirate Great Britain has no competition when it comes to Raiding coasts.
Didn't tag switch for this but I also played pirate Britain for freest man in the world but starting as Scotland. I gave away a couple of provinces to the isles and the released them from vassalage
So you played a historical run.
Some additions:
1. Instead of unstating land you can also give it away to subjects. You can even give provinces in your capital state away to avoid the “to much dev in the capital state” situation. Giving all your land to subjects is of cause only really an option if you can freely annex them, either by an event or by having (temporary) -100% diplo annex cost, which can be easily archived, e.g., by Austria or Castile. This also has the benefit that you get back full cores.
2. Related to the first point, contrary to popular belief, diplo annex cost is not capped at 90% but at 98.75%, so it is worth stacking it to 100%. Therefore, I think you do not sell the point of diplo annex cost stacking correctly. Castile/Spain are really strong, because with their missions you can get permanent -100% diplo annex cost. This is a very interesting way of playing. It lets you integrate PUs for free and later client states, which you can use to avoid overextension entirely. Despite common belief, diplo annex cost is not caped at 90% but at 98.75%, so it is worth it to be stacked to 100%.
3. Another strong benefit of the English missions is that you get access to coal way earlier in the game, where it actually still matters.
4. While Germany is a strong tag, it is typically mutually exclusive to becoming the HRE and since tag switching typically only makes sense if you care about modifier stacking, forming Germany means loosing out on the 10% ccr from the HRE reform. Therefore, Germany definitely would rank much lower in my end tag list.
5. I am actually surprised that you did not mention Russia in your discussion of end tags. I think Russia is probably the strongest formable end tag right now. If you have stacked admin efficiency from Prussia/England/ Sardinia-Piedmont I actually think that the ccr from Russia is more valuable than another 5% admin efficiency from the other tags. (Strictly speaking, Russia has also 5% admin efficiency in their missions, but you only get it very late and I typically have conquered the world before then)
6. Another thing that makes the Commonwealth worth considering are the additional artillery levels vs. forts you get as military hegemon. This makes sieges go faster in the late game, which is a QoL improvement for finishing a world conquest.
What makes the last point unique to the Commonwealth? Can’t everyone become the military hegemon?
Where does it say diplo annex cost is capped at 98.75%?
@@FastnorFurious You have a mission (Proclaim Hegemony) that gives you an extra reward based on which hegemon you are. Being military hegemon gives +2 artillery levels vs fort and +15% gov cap until the end of the game and is the only one actually worth pursuing.
@@pierreproudhon9008 "... and the final cost per province can not go below 0.1 dip points per development(or 1.25% of the normal cost)." - Annexation section of the Vassal wiki page.
But 5% admin efficiency is at it's strongest when you have a lot of it, if you have 80% stacked already that reduces everything by a quarter. Russia is indeed very strong and coring quicker is nice but I don't think it's a clearly best one
5:55 there is an ironman compatible mod called show national ideas on the workshop that allows you to see ideas before you take them.
I believe the best tag switchimg trick is to granting provinces and slowly carpet siegeing, and annexing your subject, then playing as it. i saw it in your three mountains video and it inspired me to try the achievement "Empire of Mann"
5:50 there is a steam workshop mod which allows u to see ideas of nations before u form them and it doesnt lock u out of ironman
New "get aztec missions" decision in the coming DLC looks like it has potential for your three mountains strat.
I also learned from your other video
to use Events switch back from end game tags back to non-end game tags.
Thank you for your knowledge. :D
I'd argue for the Mughals to be the strongest endgame tag. 10% admin efficiency for the rest of the game. And also the Diwan, which is insane - 10% CCR, either 10 or 15% PWSC (depending on how successful Russia was), and it's a T2 reform so is compatible with Rome.
I personally hate the Mughals and think they are the most overrated nation in the game.
@@Theplaymaker57for what reasons?
@@bangercakes linked in descrip
Gotta shout out my Austrian mission tree, arguably better than all non prussian german regional tags. You can also go with -90% diplo annexation easily twice for several decades on austrias mission tree over Spain. Big advantage as that isn't an endgame tag. Used that once to integrate an almost 2000 dev plc and a spanish pu controlling 80% of the new world within just a few months. Rome is basically the reason why I never go for Spain but always go for France and their mission tree instead. The only tag I'd argue is better than rome is the HRE but that's less for the ideas and more for the fact that revoke is just to this day the single most op thing in the game and allows to annex all subjucts with the click of a button.
If you form coptic armenia and complete one of the missions while directly controlling all 5 coptic holy sites, you get the the coptic faith bonuses Permanently (meaning you get the coptic faith bonuses even if you switch out of coptic later on.
Make sure to not only accept the culture but also promote it. I learned from expierence
Promote and accept are the same thing aren't they??
@@Tyrathca no. you can accept culture but that doesnt make it your primary culuture
No one in the comments has mentioned how you can cheese Altaic culture group, with give you additional Mongol Empire mission tree, on top of any mission tree. (Works like Teutonic order which just grants you additional mission tree)
The easiest way to cheese it is to form Poland, sneak to Oirat, shift to oirat culture, force form commonwealth, and you get everything commonwealth and mongols have.
I know most players here only plays Europe tags, but when you tag switching to WC it does not matter where you play or start. It is the same repeatable route if you go Prussia, sardin, England, and so on.
I want to mention that starting as Mamluks is the quickest WC contender since Ottomans cannot tag switching, (Ottomans could also do pre 1550 WC too), but mamluks could and it’s geographic location give it insane ability to dodge ae, finish Europe before everyone scaling, easy tag switching, starting 2nd greatest power, ease to dominate Indian trade which make you don’t have to state anything (which make you switch tags at whatever time). This should be the fastest non-horde WC if everyone really want to try.
And please stop bothering QOL, because once you start tag switching you already cheesing the game with its “mechanics”. and since WC is a super tedious thing to do, playing hard for maybe 12 hours for WC is better than looking at the map and wait until Last Age to start WC.
Cool! My next suggestion if you're looking for another topic like this is to do a few examples of tag chains that you think people should try in their runs.
You can use the mod “Show National Ideas” to compare if the ideas of new tag is better than your current one. The best mod ever in workshop and it’s Ironman compatible as well.
Love the video thanks! A couple things you didn’t touch on that maybe you can say here. You mention half-state meta a lot when planning your tag switches, does that mean literally everything isn’t stated until late game? How do you make money that way? You didn’t mention Russia or Austria in the video, I know you end with Russia stometimes for the CCR, any other benefit to ending with them? Also Austria, I know you prefer Prussia because of admin efficiency, Austria has diplomatic Annexation, is that the only reason you go form that one? You talked about completing missions thru all the tag switches, do you plan to do them all in one go or do you actually stay as he formable sometimes to work on mission trees and than shift later?
Very helpful, thank you.
When would be best to tag switch? Is it worth completing the tree or do you rush certain missions then switch?
First time i tried to do tag switching from Austria -> Prussia -> Germany. And when i went through the Prussian mission tree the militarization mechanic completely broke when i did the last mission for total Prussian militarization. It did not fill anymore, i could not hover over it to see the interaction. First time doing tag switching and this happens :D Maybe next time it will work.
thank u sir.
I usually don't do all that jumping around with tag switching, nowadays unless you go for one culture you really don't need to optimize that much.
Fuck yeah it’s here!!!
Honestly I would appretiate:
1) Quick/mechanics guide on how to utilize being Mughals the most....
2) What route to go to utilize siberian frontier + Aztec mission for high american tech - what would be the best route and best usage of techs.... of course - Capital in Washington DC
I would definitely want to see that and I would support that video
Message me on disc, I have no clue what you mean on the second one haha.
@@Theplaymaker57 is there somewhere discord address?
12:20 you can get all of these spain goverment bonuses with the %5
I'm wondering how high is possible to stack admin efficiency?
90%
Just a heads up you cannot promote to primary culture if you are an empire and that culture is in the same group as you intial culture, a example is as romangol you cannot promote piedmontese if you are a empire rank.
the quick fix is to culture convert out of your original group italian > french back into into the culture you want.
Mongol also counts as super endgame i think, bcs 4 khanates needednto form them are semi endgame?
I wish you made this video 24 hours earlier so ı couldnt f up my game. So close
Can you form castille for the goverment reform (the one spain has) ? I am currently doing provence >Sard piedmont> france (i wanna end with france) can i do castille in between for there tier 1 gov reform ?
Sadly castile is not a formable. So if you want to benefit from the mission tree you have to start as castile.
Question. Not sure if anyone has tested this out. If I form a German regional tag, then form a non-German tag, will I then be able to form another German regional tag? I’m asking this because Paradox added the restriction of even if you used to be an end game tag but has since formed a non-end game tag (Hawaii for example), you are still functionally an end game tag and blocked from forming other countries.
you can't if I'm not mistaken because it doesn't check only if you are a regional tag but also if you were one before as well.
But you cant get 5 admin eff from angevine england missions and them form other nations
Yes you can
@@Theplaymaker57 Shouldn't Angevin Kingdom be formed?
@@wait...5091There is nothing in the mission tree that requires you to form it.
i feel tag switching destroys the unique flavour of the country i started as. it removes your flag map colour and ideas.
Theres 2 types of eu4 wc players. The kind that tag switch and wc in the last 100 years and the kind that overextend every moment of the game and keep their tag.
Im not saying that tag switching is bad but it can get repetitive to go SP prussia england, ang, rome. every game.
You arent wrong, but I feel like Quality of life wise, its way less annoying to wc the tag switching way. Being overextended the whole game is not for me
Hi, I know I am asking again but could you please put subtitles since my English is not very good. please
What language do you want me to add
@@Theplaymaker57 Italian pls
I'm also italian, but by talking in chat with others i started to understand english better.
@@emib6599 si faccio del mio meglio ma non sempre capisco tutto
Not having Russia as one of the top end game tags is kinda crazy
I mean, its not that crazy... they don't provide admin eff until super late game.
@@Theplaymaker57 Personally I think maxing out on CCR is better than AE. It makes overextension not matter once you stack it high enough
@@extinctzebroid Do you know that you are wrong? or should I tell you? 🤣This is why everyone has their own opinions, I would strongly disagree.
