Gary Oldman is one of my favourite actors, too. I'm even enduring watching the violent series called Slow Horses because he's in it. That's how much I'm impressed, for want of a better word, by this quiet and humble man.
It's crazy to hear Gary oldman speaking of his insecurities and turning down jobs. He's such a tremendous actor, that never would have crossed my mind. He's just so brilliant. It's interesting to hear that even actors of his caliber still have insecurities and get nervous.
This and THR Roundtable of Actors/Actresses/Directors are exceptional because of the peer to peer format then on a smaller level I'd say it's Sean Evans from Hot Ones and Graham Norton from The Graham Norton Show.
I couldn't agree more, and is exactly what I was going to say but you....... Oh wait, I can't say you beat me to it,... coz someone Already Beat Me To THAT! 😁😂😂👊👍
Oldman's portrayal of Commissioner Gordon is one of the most underrated performances of a character. Winslet in Steve Jobs was magnificent, I love how they select actors for this show.
They're just people, like you and me. Many of them have impostor syndrome because they're being praised for acting like they've discovered a cure for cancer.
You underestimate the crafy nature of actors. Maybe shes hoping her pension fund will be the talk show host, shes playing a part . Surprised you cant see the performance.
Gary Oldman is one of the greatest actors I have ever known in my life time and I am 75 years old and have seen so many actors in my lifetime. He is completely AMAZING.
This conversation SURPRISED me! Not the fact that it was fascinating because come on! They’re perhaps the best male and female actors today. The surprise was the ease with which they conducted this interview “conversation.” It had such a natural flow and you didn’t feel like they were asking what they thought they should but instead real questions due to mutual interest. Usually these actors on actors conversations feel unnatural. Because the setup is forced! (I still love them!) Even the really good ones like the one with Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor who know each other well from working closely together and have such great chemistry, there's an awareness that it’s an interview instead of a genuine back and forth. Goes like this: “My turn.” “Okay now your turn.” Even Tom Hanks who excels when it comes to being natural in any setting and Viola Davis who is as real as they come, still had a bit of a forced feeling at times. They didn’t just freely carry on. I’m not really sure how Gary and Kate managed to give us an authentic conversation but I’m grateful because they gave us a real peek at the inner selves of two incredibly gifted artists. I assume that it’s because they admired each other so much that they truly wanted to learn about the other so they weren’t just doing this for us but also for themselves. Which resulted in them getting lost in each other the way people who click carry on in real life. Or perhaps they’re such incredible actors that they did what the other actors couldn’t do: “act” like their conversation was genuine.
Ya, know. Both British, talented, not threatened at all by the other, prob not too dire of an alienating British class difference/tension to squelch the exchange.
Winslet is a great storyteller, very spontaneous and free-spirited. She's a natural conversationalist and down to earth. .she's done some really dramatic roles since her Titanic days.
My hands down favourite actor. He has delivered the most amazing performances I have ever seen. Sometimes its not clear its actually him performing!!Each performance is unique and not prescriptive or repetitive. He should have won way more oscars than he has for his incredible performances.
Gary Oldman's WC is probably about the best inhabiting of a character I have ever seen. I kept thinking it was WC himself up there. Brilliant turn and brilliant film. Loved it. Have not, as yet, seen Kate's Woody Allen film, but will try and do so, but Kate's passion for her work is still to the fore, no wonder she is such a great actor.
Gary Oldman is the BEST ACTOR ever!!!!! A lot of young actors say Gary Oldman is their favorite actor as well - Hell Johnny Depp named him as his fave actor (well one of them) I just LOVE him such an AMAZING actor & I love Kate W. she's such a beautiful woman & a terrific actress as well.
LOVE them both SO MUCH. Two of the best actors of the 20th/21st centuries. LOVE her doing a New York accent -- she's BRILLIANT! She's so chameleon-like, I can't choose a favorite role because I love her in EVERYTHING I see her in. And his Dracula is bar none, the BEST portrayal of that character EVER onscreen.
you read Tom Hardy on him? He's so gushing it's brilliant. Great since 'Sid and Nancy' and 'A Prick up your Ear' and his single directing experience, the brilliant, scary 'Nil By Mouth.'
It doesn't get much better than two artistic titans discussing process in a one-on-one setting like this. Just amazing stuff. This series is brilliant.
This is why Gary is such an ASTOUNDING actor - the way he picks and picks at Kate's methods and motivations. No matter how big of a star or how great of an actor he becomes, he remains CURIOUS. Fantastic!
They both are amazing ♡ she is such a stunning woman inside and out. He is wonderful. They have great chemistry, leaning into eachother the whole time. I hope to see them in a movie together.
Gary is great and I fell in love with his work asa I saw Dracula ! A role that believe it or not should of been nominated for an Oscar cause no one could of made this character believable and with as many layers as he did ! As he does I love Al Pacino and John Lennon and later found out that Al is his favorite actor and that Lennon was the most influential artist in his work even though he is an actor and not known for his other craft which is music ! Leo is very cool tho.. he just doesn't like people putting cameras on his face... if you ask him kindly he is the nicest person.. my son saw him on a game and he was really nice with him. you can see how usually he takes pictures with people... just don't be a weirdo and treat him like a human being.

This is actually Daniel Day-Lewis 🤣
I honestly think that this "Actors on Actors" series is one of the best things on UA-cam! - Thank you, Variety!
