At least Gibsons have got that detachable headstock feature
🤣
All headstocks can break. Those of us who play gibsons can afford another one
@@Ottophil why would you pay 4k for a guitar that is worse than all competitors and then pay another 4k because the company sucks and youre to stubborn to get a functional guitar lol
Can't wait for the reattachable headstock feature
How original. How funny.
I mean, it's not like a strat can break at the headstock when it's abused, right?
adrianne lenker makes such beautiful music
Yes!
Songs is among my favorite albums ever- soooo good
Word!
Yeah.
Big thief is phenomenal
I'd say Sean already is niche. His niche is youtube musician and he's well respected in the youtube community.
Is he though?
the respect is very debate-able
Man, *this* is the kind of brotherhood, warmth, and affirmation I come here for 👌
Get your tongue out of his A***hole, Gary!
Dogs do that!
You're not a dog are you, Gary...?
Why does Sean talk like a valley girlah?
Where would my scatting go after 45 minutes... damn that's deep
Samurai: "I don't think I should own that guitar..."
Me: If it keeps it out of Jim Irsay's or Joe Bonamassa's hands, I vote for Sammy!
For the Stones vs. Beatles question, you absolutely HAVE to pick the Stones, since that would also give you immortality. "The last Stones concert" might maybe take place in like the year 5067 or something.
Very good point. At this point I don't even think Keith Richards can be killed. He has probably taken more bullets by now than John Lennon.
Thats a valid point here.
coming into this I didn't know who this Sean Daniel man was but omg is he funny 💀💀 I have to listen to this guy's music asap
;)
You can still solo without the high E, the B string can absolutely sing up above the 12th fret on the neck pickup. It's super rough trying to get good rhythm guitar without the low E.
At 12:00 Sean says being insulted is his kink, so I feel authorized to say this. Sean's speech patterns are like an AI was told to generate a middle aged dude that talks like a valley girl. The up-speak, and the weird suffixing of "-uh" at the ends of sentences. I have a vague recollection of him saying he is from the Chicago area, as I am, but nobody, nobody there talks like Sean. All the same, he balances that annoyance with precisely the same amount of amusement.
Lmao 😂
why did you do this i can’t unhear it
Yeah, I dont disagree. He over-annunciates, and definitely the valley-girl up speak.
Omg you ruined this video for me
He seems so great but that uh thing is impossible for me to
If this video gets a million views you should skat for an hour straight live on youtube.
Warm up the vocal cords.
It's amusing that Sean said he'd rather never play music again than never listen to it, but then said he'd rather lose his hearing than his hands. So if he remained intact, he'd rather listen, but if it meant losing his hands, he'd never hear anything. That's some crazy nuance.
My hands do a lot
And you wouldn't have to listen to the wife, or dumbasses
@@seandaniel23 that’s fair.
That upwards inflection...😢
Battle trumpet and battle sax gave me a good chuckle.
I have no hair, but my guitars make me happier. Careful what you wish for
This was amazing!
Not only is Adrianne Lenker a fantastic songwriter, she’s also one of the most influential guitarists I’ve ever seen live. Do yourself a favor and see Big Thief live. Incredible band with incredible tones
guys, you two need to start a podcast together. love your chemistry! At the very least, do more of these vids!
With the high E low E question, even soloing I would choose to loose the high e, still don't need it.
Love happy disagreements.
This was refreshing like iced-minty water
Interesting concept!
For me, apart from an obvious winner in the Fender vs Gibson debate which I shall not name, one of them making good acoustic guitars would make me lean to the other one. Imagine never having to mess around with a steel string etc and the music they imply anymore. "Sorry, I can't do the acoustic gig, I picked Fender". Sounds like a dream come true
You'd rather play the most generic guitar ever, forever. You get a much more variety and range with Gibson, including acoustics. Fender fanboys are strange.
@@DaedStarr ignoring that you completely misunderstood what I wrote, don't be so quick to jump to conclusions. I don't particularly like either company
Please do this regularly.✌
If you loose you hearing music is not done. My aunt lost her hearing and is still a touring musician.
That's really cool
Shout out to all the guitar players that lose their hair early.
You can play with four strings - it’s called a Tenor Guitar (with Chicago tuning) 😎
3:26
This guy could total play bass for Wyld Stallyns if Death ever quits the band.
Ska concerts in the 90s were awesome.
Deacon Frost. Hell yeah.
The two most philosophical guitarists on YT.
Great vid
Yup
Sean is the Joel McHale of the guitar world.
Hands for life but ears for love. You can't listen to your love with your hands but you can still welcome closer with just arms. What is life without love?
So THATS why he's called 'Sammy G'!
Lol. Sean just wants to hug his mom at christmas.
I don't think I could do either the "lots of guitars" or the "one holy grail guitar". The former because I want a guitar that I really connect with, and the latter because something could happen to that one guitar, leaving me axe-less. I could definitely do the holy grail guitar plus a backup of the same model, however.
I heard the views at the Fort Garry were good, didn't know THAT good man.
A gospel can bluegrass group did a concert at my church years ago. There was a guy in the group who had had his left hand amputated. He played that old-timey resonator slide guitar with the instrument in his lap and a special metal bracelet around his wrist stump which had a slide sticking out from it.
I guess you find a way. 🤷🏻♂️
J Mascis Tele, an Acoustasonic, Mustang bass, and a Jag-Stang would tide me over.
UA-cam ads are crazy annoying. But I'll put up with anything to watch the new SammyG video
@DR_samuraiguitarist please stop scamming people.
I don't laugh out loud that often when I'm sitting alone watching stuff on my computer, but 12:20 was funny AF.
After that Kiss cover band story - I instantly subscribed to Sean Daniels page. Hilarious
What part of (especially) having a beginner play open bar chords on this thing is going to help them when they get something with strings? Imagine trying to do that first thing,… learning bar chords (particularly getting to the point I had the muscles to do it) took longer than learning anything else. I don’t remember when I mastered anything but I won’t forget when I could finally play bar chords. That was a day I’ll never forget. Granted I learned on an acoustic but I’d assume learning on an electric isn’t much different, even if significantly less force is required.
What the hell, I had that exact teapot a long time ago.
DO a part 2
Covering is for posing but interpreting is still artistic and transcends craftmanship.
Shout out to Big Thief
Does the Gibson vs fender question include amps?
I don't even have a high E because my saddle is broken. And I don't miss it.
There was an English soldier from WW2 that stormed the beach with only some bag pipes and a sword
Big Thief slaps, Adrienne is great
Miles sure didn’t look silly playing the trumpet.
Big thief mentioned 🎉🎉🎉
6:21 "How could you play music without your hands?"
Ever see that guy who was born with no hands that plays bass? Or the guy who lost his arms but learned to play guitar with his feet? Where there's a will, there's a way
I was thinking I'd duct tape drumsticks to my nubs and transition to drums lol.
Gotta keep my hands.
Think it through, there are a lot of tasks that kinda require hands like eating and the consequences of eating. These are things l like to do myself.
“Battle sax”
Let's not assume my favorite guitarist plays what also is best for me to play. My favorite guitarists inform my playing but cannot dictate it.
Part ii please
Also, they don't call it the "bendy sex whistle" for nothing.
And Steve, the military used to use Bugles because you couldn't hear anything over the sound of rifles muskets and cannons. I think it's a completely different instrument
I can't take part in that particular 'either or'. I gotta have at least 3 of each.
🤙👐👏👏👏
"I'm a big fan of my hands."
Sammy G, 2023
This is excellent content. I sometimes hate the sound of saxophones so trumpet for me. Hearing over sight, but not my hands.
Edit: Also, I don't think I could pick a single instrument from a single guitar hero, you know? There's so many choices, do you go with one of Sagovia's? Jimmy Page's Les Paul? James Hetfield's diamond plate Explorer? That's too much, man
Coming to Winnipeg on business this week...Jets are eliminated... What would Sammy recommend for entertainment?
Fender, mainly due to the fact I hate bounded necks.
The scat vs. Lou Reed question is a no brainer. Who wouldn't want to spend an hour being berated by Lou Reed?
would you rather
play guitar only with your fingers
or play bass only with a pick
Ed Sheeran deserves respect even though he's both (a) rich and (b) famous. He's also an enormously great musician.
And yes, Adrienne Lenker is awesome. She's more my taste, but I respect what Ed does.
I think that since I play solo fingerstyle on electric I definitely would miss the high E. Even without a bass player the low E is used occassionaly for "special" effect. But the high E is always either a part of the melody or rhythmic accent. It's also a necessary part of my blues lead playing.
Well with the 15th fret question... at least there's always the touch of men...
I always thought of myself as a Fender guy, until one day I sat down and tried to remember all the guitars and basses I've owned and I discovered I've owned more Gibsons than anything else. That said, my present number one is a Fender bass - as it should be. :)
Best bass I ever played was an Ibanez. I am a metal bassist though, I tend to play humbuckers so I can't really miss Fender. For guitars, once again, I'm a metal guy and neither brand is my favorite (ESP is), but I would rather live without strats and teles than without an explorer or les paul.
I lost my hands and I can still jam! Small Tupperware containers are like 2 pics!
I don't know about you but I think Miles Davis playing the trumpet made it looked cool :)
Well a gibson or a fender it depends on who you are. But when I try to say something that you’ve never heard, never no words
👽
Fellatio joke at 8:14
Id rather lose my hearing, both would be devastating but there are a lot more solid solutions for hearing loss than there are with lost hands. You can simulate human hearing but a prosthetic is never going to have the precision of a human hand.
That's actually a pretty compelling argument honestly
I think the most interesting question that I disagreed with the answer we got to see was the KISS question. The question said cover band, not tribute band, and if I'm getting cursed to start this band I'm going to make the most of it and fully do my own interpretations of the songs. This has me thinking through my favorite KISS songs and consider which to attempt a cover of.
One thing I know for sure is that for mandolin, it's definitely Gibson all the way, no contest. Fenders are toys compared to the worst Gibsons.
I agree with you there with one exception. My 1957 Fender Electric Mandolin is absolutely the single coolest thing I own.
@@charlesbolton8471 Interesting. I didn't think of those. Excellent point.
Of course, there are a lot of small mandolin builders that make Gibson mandos look like overpriced lumps of timber 🙂...
Cool
I don’t have telegram
Can't believe you got Neil Patrick Harris to come on the show with you
Fender, no question. Love me a nice strat. Gibsons arent bad though.
Fender guitars have a huge versatility compared to Gibson's.
@@mrseaweed88 fenders have in my opinion have better designs
@@Dante_yo_son_of_sparda_yo77 absolutely
@@mrseaweed88like the mustang, telecaster, starcaster, cyclone etc
@@Dante_yo_son_of_sparda_yo77yep
Sean Daniel looks like a Bobblehead Chad.
When you say sax or trumpet I think Coltrane or Miles. If you're good it doesn't matter.
I'm a Fender player primarily. I greatly prefer a brighter electric with a longer scale. When I go shorter scale, I go Gretsch (again, brighter). I don't care for acoustic, so that doesn't enter into my reasoning.
Fender!
wow.
I'd choose Fender but I'd rather choose Suhr, G&L or Sire
Choosing between gibson and fender is a hard one, i much prefer fender basses but i prefer gibson guitars, but i would lean towards gibson since i really dont like fender guitars
The intro is more of jazz stuff Myles was the guitar player in the band and Frank was only a live guy
Because of Alter Bridge scheduling Myles is only the singer now and the intro is mostly out of a jam which was common because they did not have original material before the album and the prior tour was supporting a solo album slash dit with like 50 guest
I knew my elliott smith boy would know who Adrienne Lenker was,
And good god would I rather be her than Sheeran too lol
I'll take that 200 million dollar net worth 10/10 times
Elliott squad turn up!
how did you guys get the same exact hotel
It was an event we were both invited to.
@@seandaniel23 oh i thought you just kept getting the same room years apart. sup sean daniel btw
My hot take: Chicken picking is preferred by guitarists who can’t shred. 😎
If they took all my guitars away but I could have 15 fenders. I would be bummed, first thing I would do is get about 5 of those set neck Gibson scale with various pickup arrangements fenders made in Korea. In strat and tele shape. Carved top and binding so pretty much a Gibson. Then I would gets some strats. Did I find a loophole?
What regional accent is that that Sean has with the upturned last syllable
The Fender or Gibson question is weird. I can only play and have complete access to, or I can only play but still have the same access to them as I do now?
I’m not in the military but I’m pretty sure they still use bugles for reveille. I don’t think you have to go back to the Civil War to find brass still being used in the military.
I’m a big Fender guy and always have been. I recon the Fender Telecaster is the best guitar ever made. I also admire Gibsons and I’ve been looking for a nice Les Paul to get my hands on.
I’ve watched enough of Samuraiguitarist’s videos to know his heart broke a little when Sean said the truth that Saxophone is much cooler than trumpet
Didn’t this video come out like 3 years ago or am I trippin rn
Fender highly recommended frome backs all over the world😊
