He made this beat, produced the track and wrote the lyrics all himself! He’s the only credit on this track 🔥🔥 even came up with the MV concept! this man too talented
Someone pointed out to me that the red chopsticks have a duality - like the haeguem instrument has 2 strings, the chopstick had 2 roles. In the beginning, they took life, in the end, they sustained life (fed him.)
Also some ARMY said how the red chopsticks may also represent Capitalism and how Yoongi condemns it and at the same time he’s also a part of it… since he’s also the part of a system( we all are)
@gameboyy310 The blond mad king from deatwicha represented ANGER that was carried out from his 1st mixtape... during that time BTS was getting dragged so much so yah. the guy with the suit.. (he has healed scar. The scar from Amygdala of trauma and mental health issues).. he is the peasant from deatwichta who has succumbed to GREED... thus the real Agust D/ Suga who has healed comes to deal with the perverbial GREED from the power he currently has
The word haegeum has two meanings in korean. One is a traditional instrument and the other means lifting a ban. Agust d uses the second meaning in this song, as a way to show that he's done everything that is prohibited. For eg: idols smoking on camera is considered like a crime in korea but here Yoongi doesn't give two fucks and he's done smething which was banned. So everything he talks about in the song is a haegeum.
I'm sorry about the smoking part. Crime isn't the right word. Lemme try rephrase it again. In Korea it is considered bad for your 'idol image' to smoke on camera (there are a lot, smoking is just one example). Even Yoongi's smoking scene has gotten him into some controversial shit but that's the point. He basically doesn't care about the so called 'idol image' which forces a 30 y/o grownup man to act a certain way. He's defying everything which has been imposed on him saying they're rules but who the fuck is actually making the rules and why...
@@bismitadutta0613 He also put the cigarettes in there because a couple of other BTS members have been seen with vapes, which caused a stir among some of the more prudish ARMYs. In a way, Suga was saying, "I've got your backs." And as a matter of fact, when he did his live in the middle of his American tour, he made damn sure that a lighter was visible on the table beside him! Yoongi just does not put up with crap.
People are not saying enough about the Haegeum instrument playing hauntingly in the background while he raps about the freedom from what is forbidden meaning of Haegeum. His layers of meaning in all of his music composition is incredible… ladies and gentlemen… Agust D/Suga/Min Yoongi!!! Same with Polar Night and D-Day… what he is saying in those songs… snooze, too! Oh, and Huh! Genius album!!!!
He was stealing from the dirty cop, that's why he didn't mind burning it. His purpose was to drag out the cop so he could kill him. "It's not about the money" phrase from the joker is the perfect phrase to explain his actions haha. The metaphor of two Min Yoongi (scar one is Agust D, full of anger; and Suga/his true self, ready to get over that anger and accept himself and say what he things without fear) is so well done... love your reactions!!🥰
The police officer was from daechwita. He was the commoner that killed the king. Yoongi killed the king(himself) that part of himself the anger the flexing. And in this mv the commoner/police officer had become what he killed. Yoongi grows and changes but that dark side is still there.... feels like he is fighting it. The way his hair lays on his face at the end it makes it look like like his scar like he will eventually become again what he just killed.
I don't think it means he will become what he killed again cause Suga stated that Agust D is dead now. So instead, I think it means that it happened, it's the past, it's possible he's not going to forget it cause it's a part of what made him become the grown man he's now. That's what I think.
I love how much time you spend on the lyrics and making sure you understand the song while still giving your own interpretation. Makes me love your reactions.
Agreed. I will never get mad at you pausing or going back to reread lyrics. We love seeing a reactor who clearly wants to understand the message and respects our 7 kings. I love watching your reactions and can’t wait for you to get into all 7 of them!
One thing I noticed, whether it means something or not... The king in Daechwita had a pretty fresh scar on his face while the peasant version of SUGA had the same scar, but it was more healed. In Haegeum, the Boss has a completely healed scar while the thug version has no scar at all... yet at the end of the MV, now that he's in charge, his bangs hang over his right eye in the same location of the scar. What does it mean? Maybe that the scar represents a physical manifestation of his darker side and past trauma and as he grows and evolves, he not only accepts his darker side, becoming more whole, but also heals from his past trauma; yet it never COMPLETELY goes away. Even if the "scar" is physically gone, there will still be the memory and a part of WHO you are since your past experiences have made you who you are and impact how you live your life. Also... the guy on the phone in the beginning of the MV calling the boss, shares a look with Agust D as he leaves with the money; he his the same guy at the end "drowning" him and must also be the one that put the gun in the barrel for him, since he takes it and holds it for him after he shoots the boss. Thug Agust D only stole the money to draw out and set up Boss Agust D so he could kill him and take his place. This parallels the peasant version in Daechwita planning to overthrow the King with the butcher/executioner.
Yoongi’s words: “The word “Haegeum” came to me when I was young. I played rhythm games, I loved rhythm action games. When beating a certain stage, you’d unlock a forbidden song, then you could play a new rhythm. It was a “freedom from the forbidden.” Why don’t I try and break free from those things?” But the Haegeum is also a traditional Korean string instrument that is featured in the song. I love how Yoongi fuses modern hip hop in a way that honours and shows pride towards his Korean heritage! ❤
Every video, he’s killing a corrupt/greedy version of himself, since he’s grown! They’re connected bc the Agust D that lives in the previous MV, is corrupt in the next MV. It shows he keeps maturing and killing off his past selves
thank you for your reaction! you're deadass like a breath of fresh air for me as a reactor, I like how you're both excited and attentive. also, somebody mentioned that the part of him "clowning", where he was looking at the fish in the bottle, kinda represents hypocrisy or irony of "a guy who's trying to fight against restrictions" still taking away the freedom from another being. This mv is kinda a circle of gambling with freedom, in a way, it shows us several different ways how self-indulgence and freedom coexist. Also I really like the part of the mv there he says: "All the controversy incessantly triggers confusion in judgement" and right after that a scene with the Agust D in the suit happens. And this Agust D is a corrupt cop. Seeing him as a cop and the other Agust D as a criminal, it's easy to assume that the cop is a good guy, but actually, your judgement just was confused by controversy of the cop being the worse one between the two of them.
yes, doolset breaks down all the songs. Back then, captions weren't readily available in BTS' music videos and other video content. So we had fan translators who helped bridge the gap with the differences in languages so that everyone could understand their lyrics more. Doolset isn't the only one who does this and she's not as active anymore so her translations will come several days later after a song/album drop but her translations are still one of my go-to's because she provides additional context to some of the cultural insights that non-koreans don't know and she has a fuller catalog of their songs. The ads are weird on their sites (I remember you seeing this before in a previous video) but that's because it's just a free blog platform.
Yoongi’s mind is so attractive he is a forward thinker with immense emotional fortitude he talks about things that people shy away from. The stuff he spitting will go over 99% of peoples heads
4:12 Haegum in a literal meaning is a traditional Korean string instrument, really unique sound but his intended meaning behind it was to unlock something forbidden or breaking free from something forbidden. He has an interview with I.U where he gives a really amazing explanation
Yoongi is deep, he has so many sides - a master at his craft. Philosophical, poetic, and such an incredible artist. I love the scope of his talent, such as an inspiration. He tends to be quiet, but it is in that silence that genius is born.
Hello thank you for your love and support for me and my career🎼, I hope that you will not stop supporting me😊💕💕 I am really very pleased that all of you have been around all these years of my career.I appreciate your support and warm comments, I want to say thank you very much I humbly appreciate you, and also have a blessed week God bless you✌️✌️ where are you from…? 💞🎼🪕🫂🌺💐
Yes! He’s always killing the power hungry greedy part of himself, here the cop is running a drug lab and stole his money (some scenes got cut showing this more). He’s got a street smart rebel who fights back and battles that part of himself/society. We are dying for actor AgustD he claims he’s not attractive enough. His tens of millions of fans disagree. His swag on this is John Wicks level of charisma and intimidation. He’s been talking like this for a long time. He’s got a duet rap song with RM on his last mixtape “Strange” (no MV) that really gets into how we have polarization in society. BTS has always had deep social commentary. The song Polar Night on this DDay album is another stellar social commentary one. He’s like a wise man dropping truths on the most ridiculous beats. Every. Damn. Song. And RM and Jhope are just as intense in their solo albums.
I love that your reading the lyrics and questioning it. Thats the shit he wants. Envoking conversation. This man HAS BEEN THRU IT. From his family ( him growing up and they not supporting his dream to produce music but to learn a trade) , being challenged about his music, his rapping skills ( he pauses often rapping and playing piano because jerks say bts /him arent LIVE) . Hes showing his personal journey in an artistic sense. My interpretation of this video is of the character of the joker. His villian orgin story. The joker was created BY SOCIETY. The unfairness and judgement for being yourself. Society saying your "bad" when your not. Then you get mad and rebel. He went thru this. Bts went thru this. Constant judgement of their art. The fans backed them up. Thats why they GO HARD for them. They see the talent. The hard work. On 3/4 hrs of sleep. No food. These guys PUT IN TIME. Thats why theyre seen as the kings of kpop. All have their role. All his videos are chapters of his journey thru life. Notice the blond hair, scar then black hair. It shows in his agust d concert. He takes you on a journey. Learning lessons, self reflection and self love.
Love how in depth you get into the lyrics/message - I'm not sure how much you know about Min YoonGi aka Suga/AugstD....but the following info might be of interest to you.💜💜 Suga/Agust D began writing music lyrics and working with MIDI at age 11 and held a part-time job composing and arranging music at a recording studio at age 16. Active under the name "Gloss" (wordplay on his name YoonGi, which means "to shine") as an underground rapper in Daegu, He originally entered Big Hit Entertainment as a producer at age 17 Between his commitments as a member of BTS, Suga/Agust D took advantage of time on the plane and in hotel rooms after concerts to continuously produce and compose music. In an interview for Grazia Korea, Suga/Agust D expressed a desire to release the music he wanted to do without having to consider popular appeal or music ranking. He intended to release his music for free in the form of a mixtape to avoid such considerations, commenting that an album "has a feeling of being trapped in some sort of framework" due to the need for company involvement in promotion and advertising. He has released 2 mixtapes free on soundcloud for the fans - this is his first official album (of which he continues to maintain full creative control) Developing Agust D musically on the base of hip hop, much of Agust D's inspiration for the lyrics came from his own stories of dream, youth, and reality. In order to differentiate his work from that of his work as Suga, he developed the alter ego "Agust D".... Backwards D (Daegu) T (Town) Suga Suga/AgustD was involved in all aspects of this song and music video (and Daechwita/Amygdala) and had great input into how the music video was designed/produced (working as usual with Director Lumpens (Choi YongSeok) who does most BTS MVs) - Yoongi wrote, composed and produced the song, he conceptualised the MV and had full creative control he is a true genius. This is the middle song in a trilogy..... He is a master storyteller.... a fellow army best explained the trilogy as - Daechwita... ridding himself of the need to prove his worth to others Haegum... ridding himself of the confines of modern society Amygdala... he investigates the inner demons and trauma that started his confinement in the first place. Haegeum has 2 meanings...1. it is a Korean traditional musical instrument with 2 strings and.... 2. to lift a ban/to free what was restricted. He has a documentary on DIsney+ that shows how he made his album DDay. It will be released into cinemas in June.
"It looks like he's always killing a version of himself in these videos." (EXACTLY the same thing I thought the first time I watched this.) If you read the lyrics to The Last (where he talks about his past struggles with depression, social phobia, and fame), there's a line "Min Yoongi has already died (I killed him)." So his war between selves goes back a LONG way. (And I was in AWE of how he laid it all bare for us in concert. Yoongi is a rare combination of directness, courage, and compassion.) It feels like the part of himself he fights against most often is the fame monster, the part that craves and devours to the point of destroying self and friends-- so, the Mad King in Daechwita, and the Corrupt Cop/Mob Boss in Haegeum. He knows that's a part of his character, but I feel like sometimes it's sort-of benign (In Interlude: Shadow, he doesn't kill his Shadow, he kind of accepts that it'll always be there), and sometimes it's a cancer growing out of control, where "killing" it is the only way the rest of him survives. (In The Last, he seems to feel like it got him first.)
I believe Yoongi suggested watching Amygdala, Daechwita and then Haegeum to see the storyline progression of the trilogy. It was heartbreaking and amazing. Would recommend, only if able. I know Amygdala hit some people really hard.
I've only been able to watch amygdala completely twice. It brought home a lot of my past that secured a eerily close connection to that song and video. When I saw his concert in Chicago I cried like the biggest bitch not fangirling just connecting because the similarity is insane
BTS as a whole have always been rebels and have spoken out against wrongs whether it's from society, government, whatever ie Baepsae, Am I Wrong, even Spring Day. They always have the message of 🖕 when necessary 💜
I have same interpretation. In terms of music video, Yoongi was killing off pride/ego in Daechwita storyline and killing off greed in Haegeum storyline. As much as he preaches, he tries to walk his talk. He knows that he himself has pride/ego n greed too -- just like all of us are susceptible to it -- and he is self-aware to do his best to evolve into a better version of himself by trying to kill off the negative parts of himself. In the song itself, Yoongi shares his commentary on pride/ego in Daechwita lyrics and his commentary on greed in Haegeum lyrics. In Daechwita, he shared how the haters had so much ego to look down on him which led him to hunger for his success but through the rest of the lyrics black-haired yoongi himself also flexed back on them with ego and pride too (born as a beggar, to become a king) but then ultimately he attempts to kill the blonde king version of himself (his own pride/ego) at the end. In haegeum lyrics, yoongi sings about the conditions of society that led us to be filled with greed, prejudice, selfishness and narrow-thinking. But he is awake to this problem and is trying to call us to free ourselves from this. Hence the MV shows black-haired yoongi as a corrupt police mob boss filled with greed and rebel yoongi killed that greed version of himself at the end too. this is why I think he is very self-reflexive. Hope u check out Yoongi's AMYGDALA music video next and read about that part of his background/past from there.
I'm a baby boomer and rarely saw the appeal of rapping and hip hop. I had always felt stressed or angry when I heard it. Maybe it was because the rappers often sounded stressed and angry themselves. The rapline of BTS, however, have completely changed my thoughts, opinions, and heart in a way I didn't think possible. While I likely will not really understand the culture and origins of American hip hop, I have come to truly appreciate the beats, flow, and dynamics of it. Add to that the insightful lyrics that these talented young men bring to the table, and I've officially become a fan! Thank you for your thoughtful reviews. I've subscribed and become a fan of you, as well, Gameboyy! 💜
i still don’t understand how he can come up with this like it’s straight up genius, i wish people were not blinded by racism and language barrier because this is a message everyone should be able to hear
So glad I found your channel! As a BTS fan who misses their constant content, I'm loving seeing all your videos genuinely reacting to the things I know and love!
I've been a bit of a saddo and watched Daechwita and Haegeum side by side and it's fascinating how some parts are subtley similar. At the start of Haegeum, when he's walking down the street with the other six blokes, it ties in closely with the start of Daechwita. Instead of a cow and cart there's a tuk tuk instead (and of course whe can't forget the chicken). The similarities don't necessarily happen at the same points in the mvs though. Some of the dancing moves that Haegeum chopstick Yoongi does are exactly the same as Daechwita king Yoongi.... the dark knight thing is also an echo of when he's hanging out of the car in Daechwita as it goes round and round. These are just a few but there are loads - I think I may watch Amygdala along with the other two and see if there are links there as well.
He not only makes incredible videos, writes and produces ass kicking music with profound lyrics, he tells his story, which many can identify with. A story of growing up poor, working at a young age, following his dream without his parent’s support. All the while struggling with depression, OCD and social phobia. Look at him now! A true inspiration I would say!
And a physical injury and medical trauma. I really related to that in the Amygdala video. Watching it was like a catharsis in a way. I know a lot of other people with life-changing Injuries/accidents related, too.
Everything has a meaning in his mv " burning the money like the joker did in dark knight means he robbed not for the gain of money, its not about greed. The fish bowl representing himself and all of us , he said in the song he is also self reflecting " youtube slave, flexing slave, capitalism slave " the fact that he an idols smocks in an MV is the representation of " freeing what's forbidden "
BTS have always talked about controversial topics on their albums. It's one of the reasons why they were ridiculed so much at the beginning. Their entire first series of albums is about being a teenager, the issues of society, the pressure on their generation to follow the status quo. Their song N.O. is just *chef's kiss*
You have to watch Amygdala -> Daechwita -> Haeguem in sequence. Amygdala says the story of how he got the scar. Subject to circumstances he inflicts it upon himself. Then in each iteration, if you look at the scar, it's healing progressively to ultimately in Haegeum the surviving Agust D version has no scar. And it's a continuous process. He's killing his previous negative self in each of them.
That AgustD concert video was amazing. Love the vibe of you geeking out before you got to your seat and then dancing and even getting in trouble for dancing in the isles lol. Heageum is an awesome track. You gotta check out Amygdala now.
Korean is a contextual language… so when it comes to translation there is not really a word for word translation which you would find in many western languages… doolset seems to do the best job… Suga’s tracks are never lightweight.. although some may feel lighter than others… the other one from the album with a video is people part 2.. it seems like a pretty song but the lyrics go so deep… and that’s him.. a guy who takes life seriously and reflects deeply and still is entertaining af💜
I think Agust D/Suga/Min Yoongi is going to be one of the world cultural leaders for the future. He is like a real angel, a figure of reckoning sent to warn us and encourage us, and allow human goodness to prevail. I thought his concert expressed a unique artistic persona and vision, and will be seen as the best show of the year. It is time Life and Love get to win. Dear @GameBoyy 310, thank you so much for joining the ARMY Family, and sharing so much of your intelligence, heartfelt energy, and I can't lie, good looks with us all. You seriously rock. Borahae, now and always.
Yoongi is such a genius!! I'm so happy that you appreciate his talent!!! BTW, here is the link to Haegeum's dance practice. It's a short video (1:37) but it will blow your mind how good of a dancer Yoongi is!! ua-cam.com/video/0zN2YxoPnD8/v-deo.html
i’d really love for you to listen to Am I Wrong by BTS and/or Silver Spoon (Baepsae) by BTS. they’re considered BTS’ most political songs & they were almost blacklisted for songs like them. You’ll want to watch the explainer video of Silver Spoon as it’s hard to understand from the jump, for non-Koreans! thank you for the amazing reaction as always💜
One thing I really like is how he sings about being slaves to capitalism and like.... he uses the chopsticks to kill the dude (f**k the system) but then at the end has to use them to eat (still stuck in the system to live). Love the symbolism... literally have a pair of "murder chopsticks" tattooed on my wrist because of this song!
You, sir, are at the top of all reactors in this game of BTS and members’ musical output. I thoroughly enjoy, am awed at your perceptions and chuckle at times at your newness to ARMYs. But man, you’re so good. I love your passion and when your eyes sparkle as you soak in the layered messages. I’m so happy you were able to catch Agust D live in concert curtesy of some lovely ARMYs. The fandom comprises of so many kind and generous people from around the world. I feel lucky to be one. 💜to you and blessings for good things in your life. Keep going. You’re amazing. 🍜
I’ve always said you have to watch MVs 3 times minimum to get the whole message. Once for lyrics, once for music and once for visuals. Then a million times more when you finally get it. Being Army can be work, but totally worth it for the ride. Thanks for another good one!!
I read somewhere that the version of hi he killed is laughing as he’s getting shit knowing that he’ll keep coming back because he’s a part of Yoongi. The scar represents that darkness and shadow and trauma that he carries that never fully leaves you but you work to keep it down.
the way that all three agust d’s connect is that from the track “agust d”, that blonde version of himself became the tyrant king that is in the daechwita music video, and the agust d of the daechwita killed the tyrant king but then went on to become some corrupt member of the police force that’s portrayed in the haegeum music video, and in haegeum we have another agust d killing the previous.. it’s like a lil cycle lol. the concept of the trilogy as a whole is real genius.
THE BOY READ BOOKS!!! true true truest of true things. with a heavy dose of the kind of emotional intelligence that comes with a certain kind of personal experience. I love hime so much and am grateful for him EVERY DAY.
Suga in his discussion of the balance between freedom and self-indulgence to some extent feels like a well-developed master class on what BTS RM of BTS's song "Do You" hinted at. RM wrote: "There are a lot of adults who can’t hold in their shit. These people who clamor for respect with their own mouths. Even they don’t know the misjudgments of those words, freedom and self-indulgence, they’re obviously different."
The hanja (Chinese characters) at the beginning of the MV make the intended meaning unambiguously "lifting of a ban". The Agust-D persona feels like Yoongi releasing all the pent-up thoughts and feelings resulting in a catharsis. I recommend the Suchwita episode in which RM and Yoongi switched roles allowing Yoongi to speak at length about his music. Yoongi originally created Suchwita to give the other Tanniesa a platform to talk about their music in a safe environment without the asinine questions they get from interviewers who don't do their homework.
AGUSTD is genius and a master of words and messages while you always give out smart reactions. You get the messages of BTS songs and your opinions and views are on point, that to me is a perfect combination. Love it!
Not only did he ride in the back of the cop car like Joker, he also burned the stolen money like Joker too. I think the idea was less about taking the money for personal gain (like the dirty cop assumed) but more about taking the money to get the attention of the people he had a message for (within the storyline of the MV). There's something powerful about distroying the thing or one of the things that society values the most...money. When a person can do that, there's a scary level of unpredictability that they bring to the table. The rules of engagement gets thrown off when faced with an opponent that isn't afraid to lose his life or his money while he has an agenda that you don't know about that includes you. Such a fascinating MV that gets more interesting the more you watch it and the more you have time to think about it. It has great replay value.
Yes you understood the concept spot on! He’s always fighting himself. It will make a lot more sense when you watch the Amygdala mv! But I love your reactions and how in depth you go with not only the lyrics but the music as a whole along with the videos. So glad you were able to attend the concert and experience it!
I believe this will explain the synergy between Suga and RM who lived together with the other members for nearly 10 years. The 2 genius lyricists influenced each other and the other members. Everybody acknowledges the influence of the Rap line in the developement of the writting of the vocal line. RM the warrior poet who longs for nature and peace. Suga the rebel leader who seeks to bring down the system from the inside. Ambitious for power so he doesnt have to ever play by the rules. J. Hope the Eternal student trying to perfect his art. All hang themselves on the nail of their sincerity. In Agust Ds trilogy he rebels against proffessional barriers and unfairnesses( Daechwita) Societal barriers and problems, unfair rules and expectations( Haegeum) and his own personal trauma and blocks ( Amygdala).
So glad you got to go to the concert and see him play firsthand!! “You’re sounding like an activist... shhh... they’re listening.” YEEEEP! And this is the exact reason why mainstream media & the industry tries to suppress the music & the message & downplay their talents, success, and fanbase. They’re speaking truth to power and bringing people of all ages cultures and backgrounds together. If we learn to love ourselves and acknowledge the hate and prejudice we put on others the higher ups lose power. Music is how the message gets out from the activist artists in the 60’s singing protest songs to now. Art is such a powerful thing! 💜
Hi I am a senior ARMY and wasn’t a fan of rap music of today due to the sexual, violence and demeaning of women. But RM, Agust D/ Suga and J-Hope rap on the real deal always an deep thought provoking lyrics. My granddaughters were surprised that Suga/ Agust D became my bias. For these young men to be so wise is fascinating. Enjoyed your reactions and glad you got to witness the greatest of Agust D. Don’t forget John Wick did use a pencil Agust D used chopsticks 💜
The ending, where he sits and grabs the red chopsticks, along with that pose, makes me think of loops. If he's not reflecting on the things he talked about in this very same song, he might revert to being that dirty cop again. It's an ongoing fight against self-corruption, which at his level will undoubtedly bring him money (going commercial or something similar), but in the process, he may lose his freedom to be who he really is. I might be way off, but that's what I feel at the end. It's quite interesting and incredibly well done, all of it.
Suga had a lot of trauma in his life (a lot of Army can relate to this). In his healing process he hates himself (I'm the king, I'm the boss), and kills that demon. Next he blames society, and those who hurt him. He kills that demon. The third in the trilogy will blow your mind, he finally addresses the trauma and the pain directly, I can't watch it without sobbing because this is my exact journey. In his final, very final encore concert, together with a stadium-full and 6 million online viewers, well... no spoilers.
I always look forward to your reactions. It's so good to see someone appreciate the art at all layers. Especially lyrically. You GET it, and it's beautiful to watch. Keep it up man, I'll keep watching!
Something not everyone knows is that Yoongi is a descendant of a Korean king from the Min clan and in Daechwita he kills the king (a side of himself) as he keeps fighting his original desires to be rich and “all that”. That is also reflected in Haegeum where he kills his greedy side again. He wants to always remain humble and not let his great success go to his head. He says that in a few of his songs where he states that success and fame can be shackles as well. 💜🫶🏻🫰🏻💜
Until now, I'm still get surprised of how talented and genius he is. I'm a baby ARMY, so I'm still on my journey deep digging all about BTS. I think The Last is the top of his mastery in make music that so painfully beautiful. But then came First Love. OH MY GAAAAWD....it leaves me hold my breath and feel that there's a boulder in my chest. After Amygdala, I seriously suggest you to check these out, The Last and First Love. I hope my english is good. I treat comment section as my worksheet you know😅😂 I hope my English is getting better.
1:42 not to mention this was His first time doing whole concerts on his own !! Usually he has the other bts members to do their parts in the songs for 10 years now! So 2 hours alone each concert has to be exhausting 😩 he even sadly kept losing his voice and right now at his latest shows hes been sick coughing 😢 😞
He portrayed a version of himself and a corrupt cop (with the same scar like the king) protecting criminals. The cop went after him for stealng drug money, but after killing the cop, other corrupt police returned him to the scene of the original crime. Notice the corrupt cop had an almost identical role and presence - standing on the balcony, like the king in Daescwita. In his third album, D Day, in Amygdala he says he killed a version of himself (Suga), so he adopted the persona Agust D. The trilogy is mind boggling.and full of beautiful narratives that are intellectually critique social, media and success.
The detective and King represent greed and self indulgence of himself. As you see the scar in this has faded but the struggle is still real. In the end he kills off that side of him for freedom. He burns the money for a point that he won't be a slave to it. He creates all of his of lyrics, beats and produces it. He has a documentary "Road to D-Day" that talks about the process of this album. Amygdala is part of the trio I strongly recommend watching that as well to complete the message. It is a hard watch though since its so honest and raw. In that song and video he reflects his past and pain that brought him to where he is today. (side note when he was trainee in 2012 before debut the company had no money so he got a job as delivery person for money so the band could keep going. He was in car accident and hurt his shoulder. He had to lie to the company about what happened so he wouldn't be kicked out and had to work through the pain like that until 2020 when was finally able to have surgery since they couldn't perform due to the pandemic.) He also explains that in the documentary. Honestly that would be a great thing to watch to truly understand him better. As always you reactions are real, raw and unbias. Love it. I look forward to all your reactions every time!
He is such an intellectual person but also has emotional intelligence as well. He is a pure genius, and this makes him highly, highly intellectual, and sensitive. Some people mistake him for being emotionless due to his personality. But he doesn't freely show it in some situations. You see it in his music. You see the person in his craft. And you see it in his performance. He is not defined by bts. He is not bts. He is an individual, and he can be Feely (to a point, of course, due to societal BS standards ) express himself in his own music. I just love him for who he is and his music they are amazing creations and pure art! ❤❤❤❤
I hope someone already recommended this but TRUST ME you wanna listen to 'WHAT DO YOU THINK'- AGUST D And 'Strange'- Agust d & RM P.S. Thank you for always looking beyond the words for the meanings of the song.. ARMYs love you and your soul💜
haegeum is a korean sting instrument but in this it means freedom of expression and pretty much rebelling against someone's thoughts about what's right and wrong
Im following you on your Yoongi journey and am enjoying it as I did while I fell down my own rabbit hole. If you really want to delve into more of Yoongi's work, I recommend his D-2 mixtape. It is a beautiful collection of his songs.
When you find out what Haegeum means (not the instrument) then his message of "This song is a Haegeum" will hit differently. He is killing AGUST D who was created due to all he was dealing with in his life. This son was written during COVID and he felt like he had lost everything. Just another thing added to his pile...but... he has learned tools to cope with things and no longer angry. He is now SUGA and Min Yoongi... I will miss AGUST D because he is wild and out there..but... yea, I am glad he is happier.
Read the book called Almond by Sohn Won Pyung. RM read it, then Suga. That's what his song Amygdala is about. It's an almond-shaped mass of gray matter inside each cerebral hemisphere involved with the experiencing of emotions. I'm reading it now. How to go back and not experience negativity with those emotions you previously experienced when you were young.
Preach! I get you on the wanting Agust D to shush, they are listening. But I applaud him having the cajones to start breaking through the noise to hopefully wake another few people up. It's frustrating knowing the system's hold and still living in it. And I can't help but grin knowing how many streams this video has had on UA-cam simultaneously calling them out. Appreciate your thoughts as always!
Finally!!! Agust D was definitely preaching on this one lol Spitting fire & facts 🎤 Always enjoy your reaction & how you breakdown the lyrics. You’re so lucky you got to experience his concert and see him in the flesh! We’ll deserved. You’re the only reactor I enjoy watching. You keep it real and show a genuine interest and not just for the views. I’m always checking my notifications for your vids. Till next time.
Thank you for this journey into BTS’ artistry! ✨ I’ve loved every one of your reactions! I’m not sure what content you plan on reacting to now that you’re up to date with the D-Day MVs (apart from listening to the rest of the album)…so I just wanted to recommend some things I think you’d enjoy a lot and will give you a greater scope into BTS’ depth of work (I’ll link every video, with subs, below): * Haegeum Dance Practice (Suga dancing solo is a rare and amazing occurrence!) * on the street MV Shoot Sketch (J-Hope meeting J. Cole and fanboying a lot, the hard work put into the video) * Suchwita with RM and Agust D (just imagine the poet of the group interviewing the producer of the group about each other’s artistry) * J-hope Performance MAMA 2022 (first time a member appeared solo in an award show, it was incredible) * RM’s Indigo at the Rolling Hall (I believe you’ve only heard his old songs, not his recent work, and I actually think you’d love the complete album/performance, but All Day or Hectic are perfect for you to start) * Jimin’s Set Me Free Pt. 2 (he’s not a rapper but this song goes HARD, the live is honestly better than the MV…he also named the song after Agust D’s own Set Me Free, ‘cause there’s a theme continuity and as an ode to him) * The entirety of Disney+ BTS’ Solo Documentaries: ‘j-hope IN THE BOX’ and ‘SUGA: Road to D-Day’ (I’ll link my favorite performances form each one, Daydream and Snooze, just to leave you wanting more hehehe) * Lastly, there are some songs from OT7 albums that I think are wholly your taste and you’d love: Dionysus, Silver Spoon, Intro: Persona, and Interlude: Shadow 💜

I love how you react and stop to explain. ARMYs love you for reacting to your true expression of our boy's masterpiece. Yoongi is a genius. They are all legends.
Only a genius do this. Suga IS n he did it all by himself. Beat, produced n wrote the lyric. That is why he has a piano, guitar to play with it to fit his taste n the message he conveyed. It reminds me watching John Wick 1, 2 & 3.
ugh yoongi is a genius. mannnnn… can’t get over it. so, haegeum’s two meanings for those who don’t watch the vid fully.. 1. traditional korean instrument which you can hear in the song and 2. lifting a ban or lifting something prohibited. yoongi’s message for haegeum is primarily about liberation. he included the scene with smoking to elaborate on it. see idols/artists, PEOPLE even at his grown age of 30, get scrutinized over almost everything you’d think one committed a heinous crime. so he took something like smoking cigarettes (not to glamorize it, (we don’t know if he smokes but whether he does or doesn’t, either way that’s none of our business) but to make a point. his lyrics, “this song’s simply about freeing what’s forbidden. but you must remember to differentiate freedom from self-indulgence.” drives it all home. 🤯 man is a genius. and like you said, a character. his personality really is somethin else. something you wouldn’t learn about him (applies to everyone really) until you (as he once said..) “listen to their music without prejudice.” & that’s why it’s been a pleasure watching you go down this bts rabbit hole lol. you just get music and artistry, genuinely man.. and we respect that.
So proud of you for finally delving into the lyrics translation proper via Doolsetbangtan! There you can also play the relevant video she embeds on top while reading along the lyrics notes. But may I also suggest that you do a "reverse-screen" where Doolset takes up the whole screen with you as the small insert (I don’t know if I said this correctly). It's for the sake of viewers still new to BTS to be able to follow along, as well as viewers trying to squint at the text on mobiles! 😂 Finally, enjoy the behind-the-scenes of the Haegeum movie-making (which Yoongi already planned when he did Daechwita - he even said he produced Haegeum's beats at the same time!) ua-cam.com/video/_SAaJkHYRf4/v-deo.html
The trademark of BTS songs is they have you shake ass to something profound and political. There is a song called Baepsae in which the official choreography literally has hip thrusts but it talks about generational capitalism 😭💜
I love your reactions!!! You are so thoughtful. Nice to see you today😊 I'm with you, the message in this song is so very relevant! There's a great live version of this, with the band, and the traditional instruments, and then he did a dance practice to it as well that's real good. I was thinking you'd see the dance at the concert, but it looks to me like he didn't do it at the concerts, at least not the cuts I've seen from them. Have a great holiday weekend!💜💜💜
That's what I love about their conscious real rap, they're trying to open everyon's eyes to the crap of this matrix and social media and the downloads we're fed from TV, the papers, the news all the falseness that get's filtered down to us from such a young age, this song is hard, and never tire from listening to it.
Yoongi is a true pisces he is like Rihanna bruh pisces dont give a fuck once they understand how they want to represent themselves in the world. Pisces are creative nd pple who hate pisces need to think twice bc they’re the signs that actually reflect on themselves the most and when they create they touch humanity bc pisces are meant to do that. They’re the butterfly effect of all the zodiac signs. If a pisces ruined ur life maybe reflect on why that happened, what did u as well and what did u learn from it. And pple only associate pisces to play victim but playing victim is a personal choice bc not all pisces are the same and this applies to every signs
0:38 “I didn’t want to interrupt the views”. This is Armys’ love language. The respect I had for you was already high bc I don’t trust reactors. But you Sir. I salute you. You heard ME!!?? 💜
I love how you always analyze the lyrics word by word. That's how a person should listen to agust d. Btw, he is the writer and producer of that song, he does it ALONE.
You break it down. I am army and I love Agust D but you have stopped it at all the right times and made us look at really what he saying and it is super freaking deep and truthful. Thank you.
Whoah I appreciate your reaction so much. I just read thru the comments - there’s nothing I can add to what’s been shared… but I will say this: your energy & honesty make your reactions so fun to watch! Yoongi would enjoy them, I hope he gets to see them. I’m loving sharing this journey with you. Good music is a joy for the soul.✨Thank you💜
He made this beat, produced the track and wrote the lyrics all himself! He’s the only credit on this track 🔥🔥 even came up with the MV concept! this man too talented
Yoongi has a vision and will execute it well, always has, always will🤌🏽🔥🔥
Yessssss
He a genius bro 🔥🔥 a genius that spits bars
As Gameboyy says: UGHH!
All rounders genius
Someone pointed out to me that the red chopsticks have a duality - like the haeguem instrument has 2 strings, the chopstick had 2 roles. In the beginning, they took life, in the end, they sustained life (fed him.)
Also some ARMY said how the red chopsticks may also represent Capitalism and how Yoongi condemns it and at the same time he’s also a part of it… since he’s also the part of a system( we all are)
I hadn't thought of that. I love the layers of meaning in this. 👍
and there is a great song about capitalism, Strange by Agust D feat RM. it's like two smart guys talking to each other
@gameboyy310 The blond mad king from deatwicha represented ANGER that was carried out from his 1st mixtape... during that time BTS was getting dragged so much so yah.
the guy with the suit.. (he has healed scar. The scar from Amygdala of trauma and mental health issues).. he is the peasant from deatwichta who has succumbed to GREED... thus the real Agust D/ Suga who has healed comes to deal with the perverbial GREED from the power he currently has
damn i wouldnt even have anything in mind while watching
The word haegeum has two meanings in korean. One is a traditional instrument and the other means lifting a ban. Agust d uses the second meaning in this song, as a way to show that he's done everything that is prohibited. For eg: idols smoking on camera is considered like a crime in korea but here Yoongi doesn't give two fucks and he's done smething which was banned. So everything he talks about in the song is a haegeum.
Also, the sound of a haegeum (the instrument) can be heard in the beginning of the song
@@bismitadutta0613 you also can’t show cigarettes on cable tv in korea. they get blurred out in shows/movies like they do with weapons
Yoongi just does not put up with crap.
the second meaning is from japanese as from the kanji
People are not saying enough about the Haegeum instrument playing hauntingly in the background while he raps about the freedom from what is forbidden meaning of Haegeum. His layers of meaning in all of his music composition is incredible… ladies and gentlemen… Agust D/Suga/Min Yoongi!!! Same with Polar Night and D-Day… what he is saying in those songs… snooze, too! Oh, and Huh! Genius album!!!!
Up this 👍🏻
YESSSSSS oh LORD THE ALBUM IS A MASTERPIECE
Yes I agree this album is awesome
Agust D killed the King.
King= Industry
Suga Killed his Ego.
Ego= Agust D
Min Yoon killed his Persona
Persona= Suga
Min Yoongi= True Self
That’s why I love the live performance video you can hear the Haegeum better
I was coming on here to say this! He also has the officer's blazer at the end which is just another visual representation of that (IMO)
Very well said!
Spot on. That’s my interpretation
i’m happy to see others saying this too!!! 😁
I second this
My thoughts exactly 💯
Agreed. I will never get mad at you pausing or going back to reread lyrics. We love seeing a reactor who clearly wants to understand the message and respects our 7 kings. I love watching your reactions and can’t wait for you to get into all 7 of them!
As Jin said to Namjoon " I love your sexy brain"
He is the best and the more genuine 😊
Renee!! Insightful!🔥✨🤗
Wowww...your comment really great
Nice theory 🙌
Nice! You're ready to go to Amygdala now!!
Yoongi’s words: “The word “Haegeum” came to me when I was young. I played rhythm games, I loved rhythm action games. When beating a certain stage, you’d unlock a forbidden song, then you could play a new rhythm. It was a “freedom from the forbidden.” Why don’t I try and break free from those things?”
But the Haegeum is also a traditional Korean string instrument that is featured in the song.
Hello thank you for your love and support for me and my career🎼, I hope that you will not stop supporting me😊💕💕 I am really very pleased that all of you have been around all these years of my career.I appreciate your support and warm comments, I want to say thank you very much I humbly appreciate you, and also have a blessed week God bless you✌️✌️
where are you from…?
💞🎼🪕🫂🌺💐
This is why I love reaction videos; people enjoying good music.
Love how in depth you get into the lyrics/message - I'm not sure how much you know about Min YoonGi aka Suga/AugstD....but the following info might be of interest to you.💜💜
Suga/Agust D began writing music lyrics and working with MIDI at age 11 and held a part-time job composing and arranging music at a recording studio at age 16.
Active under the name "Gloss" (wordplay on his name YoonGi, which means "to shine") as an underground rapper in Daegu, He originally entered Big Hit Entertainment as a producer at age 17
Between his commitments as a member of BTS, Suga/Agust D took advantage of time on the plane and in hotel rooms after concerts to continuously produce and compose music.
He has released 2 mixtapes free on soundcloud for the fans - this is his first official album (of which he continues to maintain full creative control)
Developing Agust D musically on the base of hip hop, much of Agust D's inspiration for the lyrics came from his own stories of dream, youth, and reality. In order to differentiate his work from that of his work as Suga, he developed the alter ego "Agust D".... Backwards D (Daegu) T (Town) Suga
Suga/AgustD was involved in all aspects of this song and music video (and Daechwita/Amygdala) and had great input into how the music video was designed/produced (working as usual with Director Lumpens (Choi YongSeok) who does most BTS MVs) -
Yoongi wrote, composed and produced the song, he conceptualised the MV and had full creative control he is a true genius.
This is the middle song in a trilogy..... He is a master storyteller.... a fellow army best explained the trilogy as -
Daechwita... ridding himself of the need to prove his worth to others
Haegum... ridding himself of the confines of modern society
Amygdala... he investigates the inner demons and trauma that started his confinement in the first place.
Haegeum has 2 meanings...1. it is a Korean traditional musical instrument with 2 strings and.... 2. to lift a ban/to free what was restricted.
He has a documentary on DIsney+ that shows how he made his album DDay. It will be released into cinemas in June.
WOW! great explanation , thank you
The time you took to understand the lyrics, you know how to appreciate them. This is the most enjoyable reaction to Haegeum I ever watched.
"It looks like he's always killing a version of himself in these videos."
(EXACTLY the same thing I thought the first time I watched this.)
If you read the lyrics to The Last (where he talks about his past struggles with depression, social phobia, and fame), there's a line "Min Yoongi has already died (I killed him)." So his war between selves goes back a LONG way. (And I was in AWE of how he laid it all bare for us in concert. Yoongi is a rare combination of directness, courage, and compassion.)
It feels like the part of himself he fights against most often is the fame monster, the part that craves and devours to the point of destroying self and friends-- so, the Mad King in Daechwita, and the Corrupt Cop/Mob Boss in Haegeum.
Amygdala did hit me hard. I cried so hard.
And btw he is the one who created the story board for Daechwita- haegeum - and amygdala the 3 should be watched in order to understand his story
Korean is a contextual language… so when it comes to translation there is not really a word for word translation which you would find in many western languages… doolset seems to do the best job…
Suga’s tracks are never lightweight.. although some may feel lighter than others… the other one from the album with a video is people part 2.. it seems like a pretty song but the lyrics go so deep… and that’s him.. a guy who takes life seriously and reflects deeply and still is entertaining af💜
YESSS SHOUT OUT TO DOOLSET!! 😍😍 she really did all the lyrics to every track list on all of BTS’ albums and their solos. 💜
He is a total package : producer, singer, writer, rapper, handsome and savage all at the same time lol😅💜
RM wrote:
"There are a lot of adults who can’t hold in their shit. These people who clamor for respect with their own mouths. Even they don’t know the misjudgments of those words, freedom and self-indulgence, they’re obviously different."
HE PRODUCED THE BEAT, WRITTEN THE LYRICS ON HIS OWN ❤️🔥
OMG I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!! 😆😆😆😆😆😆 These lyrics are insanely real
And yes, noodles never looked so hot 😉😂🔥
This MV was filmed in Thailand, big props to the film crew for laying down Agust D's amazing vision 🔥🔥
It’s so refreshing and enjoyable to see smart people get the song, the lyrics, the production….thank you for another wonderful reaction.
One of my favorite lines in RMs All Night song is when Tablo says ‘we need to fight when they say behave’ there is a reason we feel empowered by BTS.
Yes!! You get it. (Min Yoongi, Suga and Agust D) #3 of the trilogy is Amygdala. That ties it all together.
I wouldn’t mind watching you for an hour talking about one song from BTS or their solos because your comments are on point and real.
💜🫶🏻🫰🏻💜

D-Day is a masterpiece 🤌
Until now, I'm still get surprised of how talented and genius he is. I'm a baby ARMY, so I'm still on my journey deep digging all about BTS. I think The Last is the top of his mastery in make music that so painfully beautiful. But then came First Love. OH MY GAAAAWD....it leaves me hold my breath and feel that there's a boulder in my chest.
After Amygdala, I seriously suggest you to check these out, The Last and First Love.
I hope my english is good. I treat comment section as my worksheet you know😅😂 I hope my English is getting better.
Yoongi is a phenomenal actor. After Daechwita, he was offered an acting position. He is so damn smart!
18:28 😂😂😂 the way he looked at the camera! Haha I was like “YUP YUP!!” 🃏
Can you tell me what is this scene about i didn't watch the movie but i have seen a lot of people noticed it
I hope someone already recommended this but TRUST ME you wanna listen to
'WHAT DO YOU THINK'- AGUST D
And
'Strange'- Agust d & RM
P.S. Thank you for always looking beyond the words for the meanings of the song.. ARMYs love you and your soul💜
haegeum is a korean sting instrument but in this it means freedom of expression and pretty much rebelling against someone's thoughts about what's right and wrong
I think he outdid himself on the acting on this MV. He seriously looks like he had the time of his life playing these two characters.
Im following you on your Yoongi journey and am enjoying it as I did while I fell down my own rabbit hole. If you really want to delve into more of Yoongi's work, I recommend his D-2 mixtape. It is a beautiful collection of his songs.
"Strange" is a must atp
When you find out what Haegeum means (not the instrument) then his message of "This song is a Haegeum" will hit differently. He is killing AGUST D who was created due to all he was dealing with in his life. This son was written during COVID and he felt like he had lost everything. Just another thing added to his pile...but... he has learned tools to cope with things and no longer angry. He is now SUGA and Min Yoongi... I will miss AGUST D because he is wild and out there..but... yea, I am glad he is happier.
yoongi's definitely been teasing a lot lately, he knows his power (as well as all of bts), chapter 2 is wild
Wooo cannot WAIT for the all the D-Day album songs!! Thank you for your thoughtful + real reactions as always 🔥🙌💜
I’m not sure what content you plan on reacting to now that you’re up to date with the D-Day MVs (apart from listening to the rest of the album)…so I just wanted to recommend some things I think you’d enjoy a lot and will give you a greater scope into BTS’ depth of work (I’ll link every video, with subs, below):
* Haegeum Dance Practice (Suga dancing solo is a rare and amazing occurrence!)
* on the street MV Shoot Sketch (J-Hope meeting J. Cole and fanboying a lot, the hard work put into the video)
* Suchwita with RM and Agust D (just imagine the poet of the group interviewing the producer of the group about each other’s artistry)
* J-hope Performance MAMA 2022 (first time a member appeared solo in an award show, it was incredible)
* RM’s Indigo at the Rolling Hall (I believe you’ve only heard his old songs, not his recent work, and I actually think you’d love the complete album/performance, but All Day or Hectic are perfect for you to start)
* Jimin’s Set Me Free Pt. 2 (he’s not a rapper but this song goes HARD, the live is honestly better than the MV…he also named the song after Agust D’s own Set Me Free, ‘cause there’s a theme continuity and as an ode to him)
* The entirety of Disney+ BTS’ Solo Documentaries: ‘j-hope IN THE BOX’ and ‘SUGA: Road to D-Day’ (I’ll link my favorite performances form each one, Daydream and Snooze, just to leave you wanting more hehehe)
* Lastly, there are some songs from OT7 albums that I think are wholly your taste and you’d love: Dionysus, Silver Spoon, Intro: Persona, and Interlude: Shadow 💜

1. traditional korean instrument which you can hear in the song and
2. lifting a ban or lifting something prohibited.
yoongi’s message for haegeum is primarily about liberation.
he included the scene with smoking to elaborate on it. see idols/artists, PEOPLE even at his grown age of 30, get scrutinized over almost everything you’d think one committed a heinous crime. so he took something like smoking cigarettes (not to glamorize it, (we don’t know if he smokes but whether he does or doesn’t, either way that’s none of our business) but to make a point.
his lyrics, “this song’s simply about freeing what’s forbidden. but you must remember to differentiate freedom from self-indulgence.” drives it all home.
You are officially a baby ARMY!! Welcome to the family. I am so excited that you got the opportunity. I saw him in Oakland. 😊
Finally, enjoy the behind-the-scenes of the Haegeum movie-making (which Yoongi already planned when he did Daechwita - he even said he produced Haegeum's beats at the same time!) ua-cam.com/video/_SAaJkHYRf4/v-deo.html
The trademark of BTS songs is they have you shake ass to something profound and political. There is a song called Baepsae in which the official choreography literally has hip thrusts but it talks about generational capitalism 😭💜
I love your reactions!!! You are so thoughtful.
Nice to see you today😊
I'm with you, the message in this song is so very relevant!
I dont even know why i started watching your videos like a movie marathon. I love your reactions 😅
Extra excited for your reaction to Amygdala! Daechwita and Haegum is supoosed to be before Amygdala, part of the trilogy.
Please do a full review of his album I swear you will enjoy and be amazed with it a lot
Good music is a joy for the soul.✨Thank you💜
BEST PART IS HES THE ONLY PERSON CREDITED ON THIS SONG 😭IT WAS ALL HIM
