The Provisional Army were vastly more effective at fighting and much more aggressive, while the Official IRA, who were also communist, stuck mainly to the political side with the occasional patrol or bombing attack. And then the Provos started getting heavy weapons from Libya later in the war. That was when the tide really turned against the Loyalists and British.
If the sas are Britans best then god help britan. The Irish Army Rangers destroy the sas every year when they come wicklow. This video makes no mention of when the ira's M60 unit blew the sas away on the Antrim road.
