    Suggestion for times when you don't have a current video to upload on a Friday: how about taking a "classic" episode and do a bit of a "pop up video" and make comments on it throughout such as favorite moments from the vid, lessons learned, or even how your views have changed since. Just a thought and I would enjoy something like that so others might too. CHEERS!

    On the master/preamp volume thing: I used to experiment setting clean channels on full and setting the master volume where needed. Won a battle of the the bands years ago in a rock trio where I would do just that with the provided backline. Wouldn't work for a lot of things, but it sure did give us a unique sound.

    Mick: one time I was "trip-sitting" a friend who'd taken LSD, making sure he didn't do anything too crazy. After an hour or so, I asked him how he was doing, and he said, "It's intense ... like the circus, or camping."

    Hi Dan, something I came up with to solve an EHX Good Vibes problem. That pedal needs 9.6v , anything less and the univibe part of the pedal doesn't work.
    Ended up using a dc-dc boost module to get 9.6v from a 9v output on an isolated supply. No switching noise on the output, but it needs an isolated input as it put a ton of kHz range noise on the power input side.
    I couldn't see a way to do this with the GigRig 9v adaptor

    H90: it impacts tone even in stereo - the DA/AD is always on, converting your signal. The audience won’t hear it, blah blah, I know, but for someone who spends hours noodling at home as well as gigs and rehearsals, it’s noticeable (I have A/B’d it). I briefly ran the H90 in one loop of a GFI Duophony (AMAZING for parallel and keeping the dry signal intact), which gets rid of most of the latency issue in a wet/dry rig (Wetter Box is similar), but it doesn’t solve the tone thing.
    I was the same as Mick - too much gear dedicated to one pedal only to solve only one part of the issue. That said, the H90 is a total masterpiece of sounds and programming, and I’m glad I had one to play with, create sounds on and gig.
    Ironically (Alanis meaning), I have gone back demo w/d to stereo with an analog / analog dry-through set up that comprises tc SCF > Walrus Meraki > Poly Verbs. I occasionally miss the presets on the H90, but otherwise it’s simpler and more inspirational. Everyone else’s mileage will obviously vary greatly.

    Don't be afraid of effects before a gainy amp. I used to run stuff in front of a gained up plexi (sv20 both volumes near ten). As long as you have a mix control on your pedals it can be done and also controlling the gain of the guitar volume brings a new dynamic into everything. Not as refined as running fx on a volume pedal, but definitely interesting

My live tonal reference is completely lost. Doesnt help I was into HBs and channel switching gain monsters and rack FX units back then - now Im clear/edge and crunch, and want to build a pedal board. spending time, chatting, and "referencing" things would be great. it is what it is though. Maybe next year.

    I used to compare myself to other guitarists, and it can be kind of disheartening. Then i discovered simon neil and mike vennart through scrolling through videos here on TPS who are pehnomenal musicians, but their music always seems to be about the sum of the individual parts as a whole.
    The math seems to add up like this: 1+1+1+1+1= 9⁹⁹

    Gidday Mick & Dan, I’m contemplating buying a Tone king Imperial mkii based purely on reviews (I’ve never played one as they don’t come up much down this part of the world) My only concern is no well known guitarists I know of play them in a gigging sense. Is there something I’m missing as to why? Would love to hear your thoughts as to why they’re not more common on the music scene? Very much appreciated from Downunder!

    Distortion for non-distortion people: ThorpyFX Gunshot, Andy Timmons @. I was also surprised as hell that I liked the Macon circuit, in my case via The Butter Machine. Hasn’t been off the board, is awesome cleaning up with the guitar volume. Quite amp and speaker-dependent when cranked though, in my experience of the BM, anyway.

    I want a tweed Blues Deville 4X10. I have my brother’s Hotrod Deville and it’s awesome but I don’t need the gain channel. At least I don’t think so. I also have my dad’s Blues Deluxe 1X12 and it’s pretty amazing. They give me a little more tone at a more reasonable volume than my two 100 watt Twin Reverbs. 😂😂😂😂

    • @J0eR0e
      @J0eR0e 3 місяці тому +1

      First of all, if you've fallen down this rabbit hole, it's very hard to stop that collecting insanity... ;-)
      Anyway, if your amp has no built-in reverb, a reverb pedal is a good point to start or of course a delay pedal.
      There's a whole lot of different types of both, check That Pedal Show videos to find out the type of reverb or delay/echo you like the most...

    About the latency. I run 13 pedals all analog, but when I want to try some new effects, I often use my stomp to try it out. It has an all analog function, and I cant hear a difference in my wet/dry setup. So go for it and see if it works

    • @ThatPedalShow
      @ThatPedalShow  3 місяці тому

      There’s a video coming out next week where we explain the analogue dry through thing clearly. You can hear very clearly how latency on one side sounds weird. But if there’s no latency, no weird!

    • @mikkelclausen831
      @mikkelclausen831 3 місяці тому

      Thanks for the answer. I just never had that problem in my wet/dry with the stomp. Looking forward to the video. On a side note, I would have bought the new stomp thing line6 put out, if it just had analog dry through. It matters to me too, as I go for analog dry too

    I would like you to do another show on "Watts vs audibility". I have interesting experience lately. There was meeting of pedalboarders and I was trying stuff thru my Marshall 1930 Popular (10watt head, something like if Marshall makes Vox AC15) at around 1 O'Clock on volume. There come guy from another room to ask me to turn down, as he cant hear 100Watt Engl Savage. I of course called BS, so we switched places and really, that modern highgain 100watt amp was totaly in audible against mainly clean vintage 10watt Marshall, even in another room. I went as far as haveing almost full on master on the Engl, to start hearing anything.

    • @ThatPedalShow
      @ThatPedalShow  3 місяці тому +1

      EQ! And speaker efficiency. So 1 watt with a peak of 1khz is going to be very, very audible. 1 watt with a peak at 50hz, not so much!

    • @stanislavmigra
      @stanislavmigra 3 місяці тому

      @@ThatPedalShow that might be it. What I also found, very polished and modern high gain sound (very distorted, but with no sharp edges) just dont cut thru very well. Wher slightly crunched up tones, just goes right thru to the earhole.
