    thanks for the videos. I constantly use references now more when drawing thanks to you.
    I'm a legally blind comic book artist and I tend to draw on my computer more because my vision makes it very hard to get proportions right. I can also zoom in on parts of my drawing that I can't see too well.
    :) artists like you keep my inspiration going when it gets tough. keeps reminding me why I love drawing

      +Robert Marzullo hope you don't mind me asking but do you have any tips for work?

      You just have to keep uploading new work and spreading it out there. The more you upload and the better your work becomes the more people will share it and you will get more recognition. I think the thing that propels someone's art the most is when you show a unique style and come up with eye catching compositions. Just my opinion, It can sometimes feel like a slow process so you have to practice patience as well. I hope that helps! :)

    @ Zach Blackmer - You could either use a light table or get a kneaded eraser and keep erasing down your lines and then redrawing over the light sketch lines. Hopefully you get this. For some reason I could not respond back to your comment. Thanks for watching!

    I tend to draw two lines. One for the spine and one for the front of the chest line. It is kind of like drawing in 3D the more the guides, the more realistic it becomes but you must be careful to not make the form look too stiff.

I don't mean to discredit school but I am self taught and I have worked in various art industries from 3D Animation, Storyboards, and Comics all by self educating. And I am happy to share all of what I have learned to help other artist like us that couldn't go to the big schools. Good luck to you and I appreciate you watching my channel!

    Yeah I understand that, I think my problem is...how do I apply it to what I wanna draw when I wanna draw from a reference, or....drawing in general

    • @RobertMarzullo
      @RobertMarzullo  8 років тому

      +Jared Gibson I think that will just come with time and experience. First commit as much of the information to memory then practice piecing it all together. I often have to find just the right arm or just the right leg for a pose and then draw it into my form with my own style. It is something we all have to do from time to time. I also recommend talking a lot of your own photos for reference. It also teaches you a lot about composing your shots. Good luck to you!

      @RobertMarzullo  9 років тому

      saklybleu This is done in Sketchbook Pro. I use the same brush the entire way through this video. The pencil tool that comes with SB. The only think I do is turn the opacity down on the previous layer so I can see the next layer a bit better.
      Thanks for watching and good luck to you!

    • @saklybleu
      @saklybleu 9 років тому

      Robert Marzullo but it looks like a different pen from what you use on the previous like its more defined and sharper don't you edit the settings for the pencil tool

    • @RobertMarzullo
      @RobertMarzullo  9 років тому

      No. The pencil tool cannot be edited. I also use the hard pencil tool but not in this video. It is just the pressure and I am using it differently after the rough sketch in the first stage. It just comes with practice.

      I always recommend Burne Hogarths drawing books. All of them! :)

    Hey Robert I'm a new subscriber and I wanna start drawing comic book characters. I have this anatomy book called "Drawing Cutting Edge Anatomy" by Christopher Hart. But I have no idea how to start reading/understand it....

      +Jared Gibson I have never read that particular book but I can tell you when I started studying Burne Hogarth's Dynamic Anatomy, I pretty much drew every thing in there twice and tried to read it as well. ( I did more drawing than reading..... go figure! ) I am a visual learner anyways so a lot of it stuck. I would just say jump on in and don't get overwhelmed. If you find yourself getting frustrated, just take a break and come back to it. I like to work out in between studies. The extra oxygen to the brain does wonders. Good luck to you and thanks for watching! :)

      You would need to use a light box or light table. I have even seen people use their bedroom window. Or another method is to sketch your lines then erase them down just enough to work over top on the same paper. Good luck to you! Thanks for watching. :)
