Can’t believe all the sheets aren’t change between clients. As a customer I want all the sheets change and the table désinfected before my massage. 🤦♂️
I installed the heaters underneath the upholstery. Figured it to be more sanitary that way. I built my table from scratch. It's suspended from the ceiling. With the client suspended in the air. Allows for much better modulation of pressure during the massage. Due to gravities effect on displacement of mass. Also realized that we essentially produce a therapeutic effect by manipulating the water in people's bodies. I mean we are primarily 70% water after all. Working on a stationary table is like trying to empty a kids pool with a small cup. Having the table float in the air. Is like emptying a kids pool by tipping it over on its side. Much more effective at reaching the goal within the appointment time allotted.
You rock, I am Di from Nnj and I’m a massage therapist also. I finally have my personal location in a finished room . I have never been one of those people who had a messy bedroom as a teen and yes I’m ashamed to say, adulthood has not blessed me with an eye for what may be causing the issue. Summer is on the way and it’s early May. No, especially North No is similar to Ny in temperature. We had a day in the mid- high 80s twice. All in all it’s been cool until now and although in all I will be dealing with warmer temperatures in the next few months. For now if my clients are chilly I’m sure to put the covers and blankets in the dryer prior to arrival. Since the pandemic I clean my table really well prior to their entrance. I then remove blankets and sheets and make the table in front of them or while they prepare so they know the sheets were not used prior face cover also. I also offer a portable heater because in sessions where I’m walking, sometimes in heels(not full session just as a little extra for mostly my male clients who enjoy that) . By 10 min in my sneakers go on lol. I have a diffuser on a table where I display it, candles, a few aromatherapy bottles, oil, and a air sanitizer. It’s a square table I expect to downsize. I pull my table to mid room next to it is an organizer with 3 draws and a basket with essential items for the vast majority of sessions. Inside I store more aromatherapy, larger bottles of things I regularly use in session( for the past year and a half xtra masks etc). On the other side is a dresser I want to remove It has all my different sheets and towels for session but I can fit what I need daily in the table with the basket on top. I have plastic lights around I can change in color. I do have an ax that fits perfectly for hot humid days. I also have a mounted tv I play sounds of nature or calming videos on low. Any suggestions? A house plant or anything else. Thanks great finding ur channel.
That all sounds like you have things set up well. I would suggest making the room work for you. You are the one spending the most time there. I have never had a customer ask me if I could move the furniture around for them. They are there for massage. Customers will notice if things are messy or dirty, so it is important to keep things clean. I don't understand your comment about wearing heels and then taking them off after 10 minutes. I do not make my shoe selection based on what I think my customer likes, male or female. I wear shoes that are comfortable for me. Thank you for the great ideas! That's a great idea to put a sheet down first so that you have a "table skirt". I have a queen size flat sheet that is in my sheet rotation and that one will look more like a bed skirt. I have my table padded with a twin size egg crate pad, a table warmer, then a twin size mattress pad. Then I put my sheets on top of that. I have athletes and other clients that sweat so don't layer my sheets.
Working with athletes who are sweaty is where a table protector can come in handy. All of the egg crate foam, table warmers and skirting material can be covered. I made a short video about it here... ua-cam.com/video/J83nCw-14cw/v-deo.html

I had a protector on my table in the beginning of Covid but my sheets would slip all around during each massage, which was frustrating. I lay an extra large towel on my table under my sheets instead.
Hi Benji. I just wanted to make you aware that it's not ok to say that you have OCD when you don't, just because you like something to look neat and tidy. OCD is a serious illness that causes great distress to many people and their families. It is not to be used as a joke. Thanks for the informative table dressing demonstration!☺️
Definitely personal preference should guide your decision, but here are some things to think about. 100% cotton sheets are nice and I used them for years because I liked their feel. Because I am so picky, the wrinkles in the cotton sheets needed attention from time to time. Ironing and such, a real time investment. I now use the microfiber sheet sets sold from places like MassageWarehouse.com. They do have a nice feel, but unlike the cotton sheets they are lacking the thickness of a cotton sheet. The pros of using microfiber are that they dry quicker than cotton sheets and two things that ruin sheets the quickest are Heat from the dryer and Oil and/or Lotion. Any sheet will start to show oli/lotion stains if you use too much lubricant and don't get it properly washed out.
I did the same thing in my salon suite, but instead of a sheet I literally bought a twin bed dust ruffle and it looks really nice! Also, am I the only one that's having trouble with the volume on this video?
That is a great observation. I do use the face cradle that connects into the ends of the table, it's not attached in this video, but you can get a quick glimpse of it in the very beginning, it's got a red covering on it.
Not!! Texas requires that all linens be removed & surface disinfected between clients. He places no barrier btwn the fitted sheet, which the client comes in contact and the heating pads. Placing multiple layers of sheets on the table and removing the used sheet btwn clients is called "hot sheeting". Absolutely not!!
This is outdated because our inspectors insist table warmers must be covered with plastic (eg. shower curtain) to disinfect between clients and back to back clients strongly discouraged to allow for adequate ventilation.
