Half the vehicles on the road in America are as guzzling monster trucks that are used as commuting vehicles.
Americans be crazy :)
Yep, they bitch and moan about the price of fuel and drive vehicles that struggle to reach 20mpg.
My old Jeep 4x4 Tank has 1/4inch thick I Beams as bumpers 🦅 🇺🇸 🦅 💥 2 tons and 12 miles to the gallon.
But I drive like 6 miles to the office 😂
About oil. Refining capacity is built very near to what production capacity is. Ukraine has been blowing up a lot of Russian oil refineries, so a lot of unrefined crude oil is flooding the market suppressing the price. That's why gas prices haven't fallen as far as crude oil prices have.
Chris, you are a breath of fresh air.
Fresh air is always healthy :)
All I know is, if there is a recession you better have an adult in the White House and not a geriatric child. Vote blue!,
And how will whoever is in charge affect your life if there's a serious recession/depression?

I think the right to make choices about your own body is being talked about and is a major concern to voters.
Bro you would smash it in politics, if they're aren't people like yourself in politics then that's a great reason to get into politics so there's more people representing people like you and it will influence others like you who might of otherwise been discouraged
Appreciate the kind words. Wish it were in the cards :)

@@realchris Chris you are too smart and have too much of a strong moral compass to be in American politics. Keep the pressure on "Leon Musk." 😀
At 54 I have seen those boom-bust cycles several times already. I think they might have affected my life but not in a way that I am consciously aware of. I just kept working, changed jobs if necessary and stayed focused on my family.

Buffet is selling early, we won’t be in recession in another 12-24 months

I am glad I don't follow the crowd with my investments. When oil dropped in price, I bought up a few futures contracts and ETFS and OXY shares (Buffet owns 25 % of the company). Now, Oil is trading at 70.00 per barrel.

Can you speak on the UA-cam dividend investment hype? Specifically SCHD. There's a fanaticism in the UA-cam comments and on reddit for it.
Even people who say they diversify between growth and value/dividends... How are they investing enough towards dividends where it's financially beneficial if their focus is spread??

As a consumer, the Xbox experience has been really poor the last 4 years. Not surprised the decisions of few is affecting many
What's been the main problem with the experience you feel?
The poor quality of their games, games skipping the Xbox system, miss management of studios, announcing games years too early there are more
The exclusive games have not lived up to the marketing and money spent. Prices for memberships have increased and now limit certain new games to top tiers. Most of the companies they’ve acquired have been dissolved or not released games. Terrible management from the outside
@@jngobngo and Lies
My understanding is Xbox is similar to Hollywood where they just make sequels these days. Cool games are indie passion projects but those kinds of devs can’t make stuff as fast.
The Social Security cap was set in 1977. Accounting for inflation, it should be $160,000 x 5.19 which is $830,000. Politicians will never do this as it affects them directly and it will continue to be a tax on poor people which is what most taxes are except maybe income tax and even that is riddled with loopholes. There was talk in the past to raise it, but even then, the politicians wanted to create a donut hole that avoided increasing their taxes.
I would vote for you
Removing the SS tax cap would make it solvent for decades. Most rich folks won't see a lifestyle change other than lesser digits on a screen but many more poorer folks would be lifted out of poverty which is what SS did when it was introduced. Yes the rich would also get SS but the payout would be capped universally before anyone asks. Is that considered "unpopular"?
0:01 Chris watch out there’s a bull right behind you!
That’s good for markets!!!
As soon as you build affordable housing investors will buy them up and boost the prices.
Ignore the belief about limitations due to your looks
I live in Québec were electricity is NATIONALIZED and we pay 8 cents per kilowatt hours!
So that makes my Electric Cars cost me 300$ for every 20,000km (13,000 miles).
About Internet: same thing, our (bad) socialist government putted money so that everyone in the province have fiber internet! Take a look at a map and compare Quebec to New York State and imagine the size of it: all connected to high speed internet.
We love, what some Americans would call, “socialist” province.
Free education free healthcare low costs of living, great quality of life, extremely low crime rates, no guns death. Just nice and cozy
You talk about raising retirement age: try to see the big picture: you do video on UA-cam for a living and can easily see yourself doing that to 70. Now thing about a ROOFER … 70 really?!
Now looks at all jobs and figure out if retirement age at 70 is impossible
Excellent suggestions but overlooked in your list of strategies to foster affordable housing: Complete and total ban on converting residential housing stock into defacto commercial properties via short term rental apps. At the very least, short term rental hosts should be subject to all regulations and taxation that hotels and other commercial hospitality industry players are compelled to abide.
I also wish you could run. I watch (or try) to watch all your videos and I feel smarter when I do . Keep it up. You rock!

Not sure if Google is still exploring other ways to deliver internet in rural areas. They had a project call Loon. They were suppose to have ballons that acted like wireless networks but they shut it down in 2021.
The stuff isn't profitable, that's why it would need to involve government. Same as mass transit though, it's not meant to be profitable, it's meant to provide valuable public services. My opinion is giving people access to affordable high speed internet is important.
@@realchris Maybe, or it could be they needed to come up with a better business plan. Musk’s Starlink seems like it might have some clients, like the government, that could help pay for these services. There are probably some remote rural areas or schools that need internet service. Starlink is profitable right now based on just subscriptions. Maybe ballons were as good of a solution that Google planned out to be. It seems like Google ventures with internet never panned out as well like Google Fiber. It's still in areas but never expanded to the level they proposed.
Love your content. Thank you very much.
Glad you enjoy it!
Is raising the retirement age the solution, or just not let people live outside their means. Both are controlling someone’s lifestyle by either forcing them to work longer or forcing them to live differently. I’m spitballing here also but which option is better?
Further more, if energy production, internet, cellphone services, food, transport, and housing are all lower. Why would we need to raise retirement age?
Billionaire please pay your tavmx accordingly , dont relocate your profit to pay pess taxes, america been well to you ,also make a very good place to do business, please please pay your taxes ,be a men of honesty
Just recently started seeing your channel, going back to older content. No, not a recession, but the overheated pace of growth (the root of inflation) is slowing in response to FED's higher rates. This slowdown was needed, if painful to some. As inflation has subsided and growth has slowed the FED will be easing rates. Unemployment is low, inflation is under control, and life is still hard just like it always was. Housing cost is high due to low inventory (Supply & Demand). First Trump's immigration crackdown then the virus hamstrung new construction. When builders are short on labor and must build fewer houses, they build expensive houses. When interest rates are at historic lows people don't mind buying expensive houses. With interest rates cycling toward historic pre-2000 normals and the immigrant construction workforce still in disarray, housing costs will remain high for years to come. The upper limit on SS tax is way too low. No more room or time to comment now, interesting subjects you bring up
Appreciate you taking the time to find older videos. The housing situation is our biggest problem we face right now and should be talking about it a lot more :)
In Brisbane, Australia our local government has been trialling $0.50 AUD (6 months) public transport fares for bus, train and ferry. The networks spans to other cities like Gold Coast, Ipswich and Sunshine Coast. So there has been a uptick in patronage. It's far cheaper to use public transport here than driving. But I would say it's not as well connected or frequent like Singapore
Ferry too? Seems like that would all be very popular
And every time there's a failure in the system everyone sits around for hours looking like lost sheep or staring aimlessly at their phones.
I'm all for good public transport but I prefer the choice we made decades ago.
We moved to near city regional and I never lived more than about 20 minutes by car or pushbike from my employment.
The idea of living in a box in the city leaves me cold tbh.
@@realchris yeh. Brisbane city cat ferries are owned by the council
@@oldbloke204 I hear ya. Definitely nice to be living close to work while having some greenery in the yard and surrounding areas. Anyway the rail network in south East Queensland is prone to shut-downs during heavy rain in the summer. It sucks twice as much in Sydney when parts of their network shuts down. Other than those gripes, it's something I can live with.
@@HarukaMizune I sort of take a bit of a holistic view of where we live and how.
We seem to have become ever more reliant on systems to get by and most are helpless or have no backups if they fail for whatever reason.
Our place is over 100yo now and has Chook yards, vegie/fruit gardens, firewood, rainwater and our home has a cellar and a wood stove. It was also built to work with the environment instead of needing heating/cooling 24/7.
Lots going on in the world atm and I suspect that most don't realize just how fragile and interconnected our systems are these days.
Retirement age in Australia currently is 67, with politicians wanting to push it to 70 eventually.😥
Retirement age is whatever age you can afford to stop working and still fund your life.
Pension age in Australia is 67 but plenty retire well before then, we did.
Please no walking around, so distracting... Otherwise great content, thank you for your work !
Low oil price, could also be because of alot of EV in china
Comcast is doing buyouts, too.
It's scary out there.
I don’t take it as much. It’s at the point now where Buffett could (but I hope doesn’t) pass away unexpectedly and I am sure they don’t want the uncertainty of neither him or Munger at the helm compiled with a huge portfolio shift of buying and selling. Berkshires public portfolio could definitely use some revitalization and him leaving them with that kind of cash pile to either buy into a downtown or just reinvest into whatever momentum is next makes sense to me.
650 jobs cut at Microsoft Gaming. It has gotta be tough for these people to find a new job that pays as well in this environment. Good luck to them.
I have observed firsthand more homes being purchased with cash by non-American Asian buyers in SoCal, some of whom may have entered the country illegally. These cash offers drive up real estate prices, making it harder for middle class Americans to afford homes. Homeowners often favor these cash offers, further inflating the housing market. This is a massive problem for middle class Americans!
Yep when I was in LA it was a huge issue.
@@realchris Yes, it's unfortunate. I'm in Orange County, and I can tell you the problem remains significant. I even reached out to Senator Newman to address it, but unfortunately, no action has been taken.
Essentially you just want to make sure the owner lives in the house if the money is coming from overseas. Because there are situations where local people aren't necessarily American, but they work in the area and live there, so it's their domicile.
@@realchris You're right, but I don’t think that approach will really fix the problem since there are still a lot of loopholes. I suggested doing what Florida did by focusing on homeownership opportunities for legal permanent residents and American citizens.
Its a supply issue. Until they incentive home building, ease zoning laws you arent going to fix the problem. Remember building supplies were inflated and they started raising interest rates so that certainly didn't help either. Now land prices are inflated and borrowing money atm would be dumb unless its a quick flip (also the a lot of markets have cooled off).
I dont think brka or brkb pay dividends so selling stock is the only way to reap any profit from it. If this guy has been there that long he may be retiring and wants the money to use for other purposes. And he still has a couple hundred million still in BK. Or he might see impending doom coming and is cashing in before it hits. We have no clue as to why he did this.
He is planning to take it all with him when he goes to meet Munger
Rather than age for social security it should be based on net worth. Why the hell should people wait while all the old wealthy people collecting social security are living into their 80s and collecting $4,000 per month in their million dollar homes. Better to cap payments after twenty years of collecting at $2000 per month after your 82+. People make it sound like jobs grow on trees but the fact is they are disappearing as fast as you can say AI or robotization. It's Social Security not Social Bonus plan for the wealthy. Your market value is now severely diminished after the age of 62 so it sucks in that way. Sorry, but the average person is not here to maintain your millionaire lifestyle.
