LISTEN UP ROOKIES!!!! THIS MAN UNDERSTANDS THE 2 STROKE GOVERNOR BOX AND THE AUXILIARY TRANSMISSION!!! THEY DONT TEACH THIS IN SCHOOL THIS IS TAUGHT BY BLOOD!!!! HE DOESNT OVER WIND UNDER AND DIRECT AND HE DOESNT TOP OUT THE BOX. THIS IS ART IN MOTION COUPLED WITH EXPERIENCE!!!! STUDY THIS VIDEO CAREFULLY CHILDREN!!!!!
I can run a 6+4. Being 35, I bet there are not more than 10k operators in North America that run a twin stick or know how to run a twin stick. The rest have been spoiled with 8ll, 9, 10, 13 and 18 speeds.
Man it’s super cool to see a twin sticking two stroke with some good weight behind her!! Thanks for the ride along buddy, some day I want to have my own twin stick!
Great vid! Driving with the twin stick is an art, and you are an artist. Coupled with an 8V92, doesn't get much better than that. Thanks for keeping this on the road.
Damn i want to get my silver 8v92 to run of ethanol and use castor 927 maxima oil. Some of the oil can be pulled off and blended with a mixing valve and more dumped in as it burns down for total loss. Ethanol is 113 octane and would need a glow plug like did with the ethanol 6v92 and 8v92 experiment line hall trucks.
I have not driven a truck since the mid 1980's. It is a beautiful thing to see you drive it. I so much miss it! (my Freightliner was a Roadranger 13 speed) Almost makes me cry how much I love it. Things have changed so much in the past 30-40 years.
Yea we need a plant making cabovers that each company had like freight liner and peterbilt and kenworth if they could. And the return of 2 Strokes would be awesome
This man never once used that clutch to shift while moving. Quite entertaining to watch you float a twin stick. I can hear you bringing the rpms up on the engine to match the gear. You're a freakin wizard
That's the way to do it, brings back great times movin 120 t heavy around Aus outback, my head is counting every rev, ready for the next shift, I've a Hardon listening to that Jimmy, and I'm now 80 and retired, but wish I wasn't. Thanks for the Vid.
If you are paying attention, he never actually "double clutches." If you do it right, you only use the clutch to start and stop. The rest is done by feathering the throttle to match the rpm to the gear and the feel of the stick.
Actually I was thinking, he has two choices. Either put a couple of strong magnets in the gearbox to catch the tooth fragments or use the bloody clutch. Sloppy, real sloppy shifting.
Thirty years ago I drove a Mack twin stick Mack after driving a 10 and 13 speed tractors & Bobtails. The auxiliary was opposite. It took me time to get learn. Going uphill was a challenge especially if I forgot which gear I was in or missed a gear and had to pull to the side and start all over. Your shifting is smooth and awesome compared to other videos I’ve seen. I’ve asked drivers today if they’ve driven twin sticks and none have. At least I had this experience and still could do it if there is a tractor with twin sticks.
The Peterbilt 359 is by far one of my favorite old school tractors. I'm also a huge fan of the old school cabover tractors. Like The Kenworth K100 an The old school White Frightliner cabovers. Also The Peterbilt 362's. They sure don't make them like they use to. Those where real trucks. Not the BS that they produce today. Love The Pete 359 Bubbles8V92.... Awesome Tractor
I, for one, don't miss those twin sticks. My 18over eaton fuller is super compared to those old 6×4's. Thanks for the memories though. Appreciate your videos!!!
That was really mint. This is exactly what I subscribed for. Not too many vids on utube of an 892 hauling a load. Brings back memories of my learnins to get my AZ, training on a 78 transtar 4300 with a 435hp 8v92. True diesel ASMR...haha. Thanks for the vid. [Like #190]
very nice, thank you for posting. I got here reminiscing about a load of logs I rode along to go get, some firewood out of the mountains of Washington state. The truck owner/operator was from my little town. He had a 1965 Peterbilt 351 set up just about the same, around 1980. You took me back :)
Man that is a perfect classic truck right there! I'm loving every little thing about it. And that brown vinyl interior is my dream ride right there! Honestly I'll take 70s luxury over anything else any day. Absolutely gorgeous!
Sweet ride...two strokes are a sound that i never realized were a dying breed until they were pretty much all gone. It sure was nice to be in one again, if only on YT. The only one i ever drove was A 12V71 in a 1975 brockway. BTW y only Twin was a Spicer 6x4 in an old Mack
It's funny how the ole 2 strokes where hated in their day and now every seems to live them! We always looked for the cat or cummins trucks. And I remember when the road ranger trans come out it was the biggest seller if new trucks! Now everyone wants a twin or 3 stick
Great video, Love the 92 sound, I have one in a Ford CL9000. 2 sticks would be ok for old show trucks but I certainly wouldn't have it for a working truck. Keep safe and keep the videos coming.
Just discovered your channel. Watched some of your previous video's. It's really nice to find a channel with older trucks and equipment still being worked. Subscribing and plan to keep watching. Have a good day! Keep up the work!
Brings me back to the early 70's when my grandmother lived on US90 in what is now called New Orleans East. Always could hear those Detroits passing the house before I10 was open.
I used to drive a Mack R700 with a Detroit 8V92 we got from an old Greyhound it was the T/S engine turbo supercharged it had injectors and intakes mods with a switch blade turbo .. a Big one ...I recovered countless roll overs of heavy equipment and lots of dry vans . When they mad me take the New Top kick I was let down even with the wheel lift ..
I will not drive an automatic transmission truck, I have to be in control of the load, I am hauling. I'm in that seat, I want control. You have to be able to feel,, what you are hauling. I love clutching, especially when you get home safe. Merry Christmas
I knew a guy in Australia, who pulled 80,000kg roadtrains from Brisbane to Perth (4500km) with an SAR Kenworth with an 8V92T and the trucks name was "Symphony of the Devil".
Firstly- cool video... now, on to reality. I started my career with one of those things , and I was around drivers who drove them all their lives. They made driver lose their hearing, they were god awful slow, they got lousy fuel mileage , they seldom went more than 250-300k without having to be in framed . I drive one for my first year trucking and I was sick and tired of that sound after the first week. That said, it is cool to hear it again, but as someone who grew up around them, I don't miss them really. I did give it a " like " though... for fun.
I'd love to see an 8V92 retro fitted to a 379 or even a 389! Maybe with a 13 or 18 speed attached to it! I bet it would sound just as good! Who knows...
Really like this truck bud. How bout a video of grabbin gears on a good steep grade while loaded, if your up to it! Lol. That’d be interesting I think. Seriously tho, them “2sticks” takes skill. Or at least a LOT of practice I guess🤷♂️
On the auxiliary, whenever you'd "hook" shift, that was going from under to direct and back, correct? Then OD on the auxiliary is against the dash, yeah?
The 8V92TA is the best sounding Detroit Diesel in my opinion. It sounds like an 8V71 (318) with a deeper pitch and the turbo whine. Not as loud as a 318 and whole lot more power.
i’m not gonna lie, Driving a twin stick looks very intimidating lol. i want to learn, i’m finna find one at auction or something and teach muse i suppose.
Old school still have contracts , Pullin fright, just cost abit more 😊, oh boi listen to her mid rev range, least 90 , not sure over her that be 120/30 km, a hour

I doubt there are one in five milloine that have a clue about what you are trying to say.
You don't have to yell. I could do this with one hand when I was 12.
@@scotttaylor4546 not many of us left in the world brother !!!!

This guy caresses his truck like a tender woman. Yesss! Could watch this all day.
Lastly, I love how you wave to other truckers. Like bikers do. Trucking used to be a community, and what you do is like "back in the day". Thank you.
Man it’s super cool to see a twin sticking two stroke with some good weight behind her!! Thanks for the ride along buddy, some day I want to have my own twin stick!
Sup brother?

I will be grinning for days now...seeing a young guy outdo us rusty older guys. THANK YOU so much for keeping this alive.
I wish old school engines and trucks made a come back
Yea we need a plant making cabovers that each company had like freight liner and peterbilt and kenworth if they could. And the return of 2 Strokes would be awesome
@@mintyman1968 yeah I wish brockway and auto car and stuff like that came back it would make my day
@@boethekidd9393 that really would. I’m pretty sure autocar still makes trucks, not like they used to though
Brockoway is just awesome
You and me both.
Drove an 8v92 for years back in the 80s. Love the sound they made
The unmistakable sound of an old 2 stroke Detroit. Neat video!
This man never once used that clutch to shift while moving. Quite entertaining to watch you float a twin stick. I can hear you bringing the rpms up on the engine to match the gear. You're a freakin wizard
Don’t have to use a clutch on a twin.
It's called a real truck driver
That's the way to do it, brings back great times movin 120 t heavy around Aus outback, my head is counting every rev, ready for the next shift, I've a Hardon listening to that Jimmy, and I'm now 80 and retired, but wish I wasn't.
Thanks for the Vid.
this guy is one damn good driver! you cant find guys this young that know these old trucks!
Never Hear That beautiful 2 stroke mechanical music in California anymore. I really miss that. Take care of that beautiful lady my friend.🤛
That 8v92 sounds good.
If you are paying attention, he never actually "double clutches." If you do it right, you only use the clutch to start and stop. The rest is done by feathering the throttle to match the rpm to the gear and the feel of the stick.
Because non synchronous gearbox i think
Actually I was thinking, he has two choices. Either put a couple of strong magnets in the gearbox to catch the tooth fragments or use the bloody clutch. Sloppy, real sloppy shifting.
When drive is an art, nothing like the sound of this engine and that transmission.
I'm sure ole twins ticks is a big fan of this channel. You can shift very well. What a work out for a driver back then. Good gosh!
That's awesome used to drive my brother's 8v92 silver hauling logs and grain can't beat that sound 😀

Emmissions regulations play a major part in today's trucks
defiantly can't mistake the sound of a 2 stroke detroit for anything else 👍
I got a silver 8v92 turbo 2 stroke out back to tinker with.
I, for one, don't miss those twin sticks. My 18over eaton fuller is super compared to those old 6×4's.

Very nice, thanks for the video, nice to see the 8V92T working awesome. I run a Silver 4-53TIB in my 2009 Ford F350 and love it.:)
😄😄 thats sweet. Subbed

Nice classic screaming Detroit a collector for sure love that sound awesome a step back in time
Sounds great! Nice shifting and a great camera angle inside the cab too.
I LOVE THESE THINGS..MUSIC !!!!!!.......let me shift the transmission 47 times to get out of the driveway !!!....LOVE IT !!!!
Enjoyed watching this great old tractor still out there and I have to say that you are good with a twin stick.
now this guy can drive a damn truck same i did years back god i miss the old twin stick trucks
Gotta love an ol Detroit...... still my favorite

Good video LOVE that Truck I have a 1985 359 Extended Hood running itfor 26 plus years wouldn't trade it for a new one. OVER
Got a 85 on the farm 👍
Props to you sir for the arm thru the wheel. Not many drivers left can pull that off
Amazing skill..after 50 years of driving in UK I could not drive it like him ..you need three hands
Nice peterbilt truck with a heavy load and the sound is so awsome with twin stick shifters
Great video, Love the 92 sound, I have one in a Ford CL9000. 2 sticks would be ok for old show trucks but I certainly wouldn't have it for a working truck. Keep safe and keep the videos coming.
❤ you have to love the sound of a “Screamin” Detroit two-stroke!
Cool to see ya still running that old girl. Keep up the great vids man 😁
Sounds amazing. Great shifting too!
I love twin-stick shifting especially with a 8v92
Good to see the 359 making her rounds! I just got the driveshaft back in mine this morning.
Beautiful Pete man! Wow that looks amazing.
Lov the old "Corvette" dash on that era Peterbilt.
Great shifting brotha and making the old girl sound off is music 🎶 to my ears 👂

Sound of a 92 over a cat any day, thank you.👍🏻
Sound yes. I had a 8V71 and a 3406 Cat both with 13 speeds. Yamaha was fun but mainly slow and gutless compared to the cat. Cat way easier to drive.
I had two 8v92's in my 1983 Hatteras 50c Sportfisherman Convertible. Mileage 1 gal per 3/4 mile. 1050 gallon fuel tank. 650 hp.
I knew a guy in Australia, who pulled 80,000kg roadtrains from Brisbane to Perth (4500km) with an SAR Kenworth with an 8V92T and the trucks name was "Symphony of the Devil".
Corvette dash thats a '79 - 87. Mine was a '75 which had the oval shaped dash. those dashes where definitely an upgrade.
The truck you drive is absolutely badaas
Look at that dash ,, so gorjus 💕🎼💯
Ricky stenhouse jr driving a semi 🤔 all jokes love your stuff man awesome truck and shifting👍🏼
Great video !!! Beautiful truck
Them DD blocks sound so good😎
Ohhhhh.....what a pleasant music....... u beuty, detroit diesel.
That truck is awesome
Love that great box 😍
Gear box
Always wanted to learn to drive a twin stick and funny none of these drivers now a days wouldn't know what Todo with a twin stick

Ya wonder whats different... mines almost too easy... would like a little more resistance
God bless our farmers!

yup both have an overdrive against the dash
Love those Jimmys
What's the advantage in a two-handed up shift? Makes sense on a down shift on a grade, but an up shift can be completed just as fast with one hand.
Its more fun? I do it both ways
Love the videos man👍🏼 can you do a video of you hauling cattle
i work for wester espress in 1984 had 430 detrorit a gmcs they ran good coss the contey im a a truck driver to day form fred in la cal
No words are Necessary.
Authentic 👍💪🇺🇸
Cool video!

there's no need to radio the sound is music for ears man, keep in truckin and stay safe.
Jesus… that rack set just right… didn’t even lope.. just popped off
Pretty good for 98000! You can't do better that an old truck.
i’m not gonna lie, Driving a twin stick looks very intimidating lol. i want to learn, i’m finna find one at auction or something and teach muse i suppose.
500 horse out of that baby? How's the torque? Almost godlike I bet. 😯👍
Solid!
cool video, thanks.
That transmission of two levers is better than the eaton of 18 gears or for what use is it given or are they the same ???
Looks like he’s tying those sticks in a knot.
You get that old White-Freightliner runnin this year? I’d love to see another video on that
Old school still have contracts , Pullin fright, just cost abit more 😊, oh boi listen to her mid rev range, least 90 , not sure over her that be 120/30 km, a hour
I'm watching here in Brasil,Pará, Itaituba.
