I actually went and saw Robot Jox at the theater with my dad during Thanksgiving 1990. Loved the concept of the film, the special effects, and especially the rousing music score by Frederic Talgorn.
My brother and I were 9 or 10 when we found this gem in my uncle's VHS collection. I still love the scene when Achilles begins his walk and the theme is going.
Yep! And again when I saw the opening scene of Transformers in 2007. I remember leaning over to my friend, as just one Deceptacon was annihilating a US military base in Iraq, and saying "And they still think a MecWarrior film wouldn't work!"

Robot Jox is awesome. I probably watched it at least 15 times with my school friends back in the early 90s. I doodled many giant mecha of my own, inspired by this movie.
Saw this in the theater when it first came out. It was Epic! Granted I was 12, but I watched it a few years later when I was in High school with some friends and it still held up for a group of jaded teenagers.
fyi, I only came here because I want to see what the large new ship is at the end of the new Lower Decks intro......any clues? the really really large one.
I saw it once on a nighttime slot in my early teens, and it took me a decade to find what the movie was called and rewatch it and I loved it to bits. I kept thinking, both back then and later on, "why are there so many Star Wars knockoffs, but not Giant Robots?"
Robot Jox is one of my favorites. It does so much so well you can forgive the camp and low budget.

The janky effects were some of the finest stop motion ever, outside of Ray Harryhausen's work.
You're probably right, but that was nonetheless my impression when I tried to re-watch it in the 2000s. As I say, I might be in the right headspace to appreciate it again. Probably time for a re-watch.
I remember watching Robot Jox on VHS in the 90's and I loved it.
I saw this movie on vhs tape at a rental store in the early 90s and fell in love with the story and visuals as a kid
Saw it on VHS when I was a kid and remember it fondly. Haven't seen it as an adult but I'm sure it would be even better now.
Wow I totally forgot about this movie. Watching was bringing back so many memories. Available on Prime, going to go watch it now!
Robot Jox was my childhood ... It's amazing!
I remember getting this on a 3 vhs boxed set along with Arena and crash n burn, all of them were great films that I still watch even now, I think they were very ambitious for their budgets, and the use of models over cgi just adds to the charm.
I stumbled across Robot Jox sometime in the late 80s on video at a local video rental place. Being a huge fan of sci-fi, I begged my parents to rent it for me. I have fond memories of watching it while building robots with Lego.
I LOVED Robot Jox as a kid. I didn't discover it until it came to Blockbuster video, but MAN was it great!
I saw the thumbnail and immediately remembered this movie. I used to watch it all the time as a kid.
I’m glad to see there are other folks who remember this movie. :)
Underrated film
I honestly loved this movie. I saw it in the theaters, got it on tape, then DVD. I still use the line "I have already killed you. IN HERE." when playing online games.
I saw this movie ONCE when I was 6-7 years old and I've had the last fist bump burned in my brain for 30 years, this movie which name I didn't knew until today is the core of my passion for the "real-robo" genre
I remember being blown away when I first saw the trailer, I loved this movie as a kid.
I remember seeing this about 30 years ago and halfway forgot it existed. I'll have to watch it again sometime.
I loved this movie as a kid!
I watched it again a few months ago and it proper took me back!😊
I'll still love this movie forever and the hero theme gives me chills everytime. I also saw it in the early 90s and wore the Blockbuster tape out renting it over and over. The international Blu Ray release is expensive but the way to go. The movie poster is on my wall in my office.
I actually went and saw Robot Jox at the theater with my dad during Thanksgiving 1990. Loved the concept of the film, the special effects, and especially the rousing music score by Frederic Talgorn.
Oh really? Thats really cool!!!
My brother and I were 9 or 10 when we found this gem in my uncle's VHS collection. I still love the scene when Achilles begins his walk and the theme is going.
Dude I watched this on some TV channel when I was like 9, and I’ve never forgotten it.
Thats funny! Thank you for sharing!!!!
Ive watched this movie dozens of times, LOVE this movie !
The thumbs up fist bump at the end of the movie was so dumb that it was amazing, and I loved it!
Whole my life (and I'm not joking (no pun intended)) is because I watched this when I was seven.
Always loved this movie! Have it on VHS, DVD, and 2 different Blu-rays. Cool poster too!
I rented this on VHS years ago. I've also seen Space Truckers, Honey I shrunk the kids, and Fortress.
Did anyone else think this movie was a road to a proper Battletech film? As a kid I was optimistic.

Yep!
And again when I saw the opening scene of Transformers in 2007. I remember leaning over to my friend, as just one Deceptacon was annihilating a US military base in Iraq, and saying "And they still think a MecWarrior film wouldn't work!"
Robot Jox was an awesome and somewhat campy "B" grade movie! It was _not_ a big budget release. It was, arguably, the best _produced_ Charles Band film ever made.
That just shows that you don't have to put billions into movie for them to be remembered. I agree. B grade movies are great entertainment where you won't forget about it.
I remember seeing this movie on a shelf in my local video store. Never checked it out but I have seen several of Stuart Gordon's movies, without realising they were all by the same guy. I have to give all of them another go sometime soon!
that's a great idea and I'm glad that our video inspired you to rewatch them.
Robot Jox is awesome. I probably watched it at least 15 times with my school friends back in the early 90s. I doodled many giant mecha of my own, inspired by this movie.
This move is amazing! I watch it on the regular!
Amen, brother.
Robot Jox is on my all time favorite movies list, love this movie!
Well, I was looking for giant freakin' robots, and I got giant freakin' robots.
you can't be a UA-cam channel called giant freakin robot and not make a video about giant freaking robot. that is just false advertising.
Saw this in the theater when it first came out. It was Epic! Granted I was 12, but I watched it a few years later when I was in High school with some friends and it still held up for a group of jaded teenagers.
Robot Jox is an absolute joy. I loved it as a kid and I love it now.
I'm so happy I got to see this movie as a child. As an adult, I wouldn't appreciate it as much 😁
Just came to say that Robot Jox was a masterpiece, just like Ninja Terminator.
fyi, I only came here because I want to see what the large new ship is at the end of the new Lower Decks intro......any clues? the really really large one.
I saw some picturex of RobotJox in StarLog magazine about two years before it was released. It was worth the wait.
I was a child and i remember watching this film on tv. Loved it so much
I saw it once on a nighttime slot in my early teens, and it took me a decade to find what the movie was called and rewatch it and I loved it to bits.
I kept thinking, both back then and later on, "why are there so many Star Wars knockoffs, but not Giant Robots?"
Because giant robots are underrated. We like the idea of space not robots maybe.
Saw it in theater, it was fun.
