THEY LIED TO US !! EU4 Norway Has NORSE MISSION PATH

- IMPORTANT! Seems like the 1% change to get norse isn't viable anymore since they grayed out ( # ) the event choice after they fully released the dlc. I recorded this is early access when it wasn't the case.
Right now THE ONLY way to get Norse is via the 'Wave of Curiosity' event that can be triggered by a scandinavian culture nation.
EU4 Norway can become Norse via a secret set of events that make it the eu4 ultimate colonial nation too at the same time!

And so, what's up with the fort in Bähuslen? Level 4 if already built? :-D
Did you check the bahuslen fort thing?
@@interficere4129 you get menpower instead i belive from what i was testing
@@vonpilaresko1925 How much?
What about fort ludi
Ludi: *''We have to be really careful with our manpower''*
Also Ludi: *''You're not a man if you don't attack with a river crossing''*
yes, this is accurate
You don't lose manpower when you attack with a river crossing, you build a bridge. It's an investment!
@@LilGamingYes bruh

Erik the Red is actually not a bad person. In Norway his thralls, slaves, were murdered because they accidentally caused a landslide which damaged a farm. The farm's owner's friend, Eyjolf killed the thralls. Erik returned the favor by killing him, and Holmgang-Hrafn. When he was exiled to Iceland afterwards, he entrusted some ornamental beams (which were passed down by Erik's father) to a man named Thorgest. When Erik went to get these back, Thorgest didn't give them, so Erik killed Thorgest's sons. His epithet, "red", was due to his hair color, not that he was murderous. Erik the Red's son was Leif Erikson, interestingly enough.
Don´t wanna call out Ludis lies, but I think he would do Denmark even without 10.000 likes...
Liked the video anyway
Absolute beauty, good that they decided to bring that for Scandinavian countries after all :D
there's actually 5 ways to get norse now, so other nations can get it also, but only norway can get it via this mission, which is cool
@@LudietHistoria exactly, I already saw pictures of some abomination combinations :p
@@ZlewikkTV i got a really interesting one coming soon too xD
9:09 Some info on Eriksfjord:
That region in south eastern Greenland was actually called Eriksfjord by Erik the Red probably around 982. However, he was not the one who discovered Greenland, which happend 50 - 100 years prior. Gunnbjörn was blown of course while sailing from Norway to Iceland between 876 to 932 when he spotted some islands which probably were parts of Greenland. He ist considered the first European to have discovered Greenland and therefore geographical North America. His sightings were reported and therefore known in Iceland. But as the sightings had mere accidental nature, they where neglected in Greenlandish history.
About 982 Erik the Red was exiled from Iceland after he slayed some Norse Icelanders. He then headed to the region he called Eriksfjord (the south western tip of Greenland behind later known Cape Farewell). During his 3 years of exile he discovered the region and came back to Iceland. There he advertised the newly found lands as Greenland to attract colonists. Due to a famine in Iceland he managed to assemble 25 ships of colonists of which 14 reached Greenland. There he founded the Eastern Settlement (nowadays Qaqortoq) and the Western Settlement (near present-day capital Nuuk). Both where the only regions where farming was possible in Greenland. Even now, you can still find about 500 groups of Norse farm ruins and 16 church ruins. The ruins of the Erik the Reds family estate of Brattahlio with the first christian church in Greenland can still be visited. Its part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.
In the early years of the colony they mainly lived of livestock and farming. Due to a climate deterioration in the 14th century later the colony mainly relied on fishing. It was abandoned in the 14th century due to soil erosion (because of overgrazing), the effects of the Black Death or because of fighting with the native Inuit (however, the last reason is based on Inuit legend rather than archaelogical studies).
So, Erik the Red was the first European to have settled on Greenland.
Fun Fact: The son of Erik the Red, Leif Erikson, is believed to be the first European to have set foot on continental North America. There is a Norse settlement in Vinland (todays Newfoundland, Canada) today called L'Anse aux Meadows which was occupied in between 990 - 1050 CE. This might be the settlement Leif Erikson founded when he reached continental North America about 500 years prior to Christopher Columbus.
And after that my favorite spongebob episode was born. Happy Leif Erikson day!

With enough effort, all nations can form prussia
Sweden has a path to Norse as well, it's just a bit more hidden and complex
so there's multiple norse paths now, norway has the fastest one here
@@LudietHistoria Sweden may be faster depending on RNG. The event chain is highly dependent on your ruler though. First off you need to have the Statue in Repeals decision active, while being in the age of discovery. After that, your ruler needs to either be a scholor, a sinner, or have a 5/5/5 ruler. Taking religious ideas while being excommunicated increases odds.
@@yoshman6696 if you get the 5 5 5 yeah u can get it faster true
Sweden can get it really early, unfortunately following the event can change sweedish, danish and norvegian culture to norse. so no Caroleans for you. Learned that the hard way a minute ago....
@@domin87 Yeah, but you're giving that up in exchange for a powerful faith, and a really easy CB through Deus Vult.
Brother! Quick comment, Sapmi is pronounced “Sah-mee” and according to Norse stories, they are the origins of elves/Santa’s helpers. Learned that when I lived in Norway for a year!
oh wow never knew that! thanks for letting me know bro!
Huh, interesting.
Of a lifetime living in Sweden, Sápmi is pronounced Pretty much like it sounds. It is only the inhabitants of Sápmi, the Sami, which are pronounced that way
I just want Sapmi to have mission tree with little middle earth references like Aragon has.
well, that's not true. and I've lived in Norway since I was born 43 years ago.
Fun fact: if you get scholar/sinner/555 and excommunicated/restraint appeals, you get an event(100 yrs mth) where you can become norse.
Hell, Norway/Scandinavia can become The Emperor of China from becoming Norse!!
The name Eiriksfjord is from the saga of Eirik the Red and he lived there in his settlement named Brattahlíð
Now we need the same for Gallic, Hellenic and eastern cultures!
There should be branching missions with specific criteria leading to the restoration of all major dead faiths in eu4!
This would be cool, it would have to be equally ridiculously hard to trigger to be fair though. It’s funny how you can reform Rome as Pagan but the first European pagans only just became accessible in a normal game in this update. Would be fun to see a decision to switch to the various Roman cults when forming the empire or restoring the Anglo Saxon and Celtic/Pictish traditions of paganism and Christianity
You are obliged to give independence to Norway in your dane video, as you promised at the beginning of this one
wait what xD
@@LudietHistoria But you said you would grant independence for the beautiful sprites. Ludi lying... why doesn't that surprise me?
@@blackfang101 ok fine sir fine xD
@Ludi et Historia ludi I`ll be very disappointed if you don't grant independence to the fine Norway sprites, they deserve it and you know It!
Very cool, it’s a shame the same thing wasn’t done with Lithuania though, because at least by 1444 Baltic paganism was still alive.
Baltic paganism is still practiced today

Wow! I’m so glad they ended up adding norse through that event, it’s already ahistorical anyways so it’s nice that they could add a little fun to it

As a norwegian, I approve of this video. Thanks for the fun content Ludi!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Quick use bots to get ludi to 10k likes before he denies a new quick danish campaign
I was wondering why they didn't add Norse in this update... guess they did kek
yup
Nice
So nice
My wife and I visited Stockholm briefly once a few years back. The Vassa was definitely a highlight. We loved learning all about it, and it really is amazing to see such a well-preserved example of an old style ship (even if it's a little top-heavy).
That copper mine monument is OP as hell. As Sweden I was making 50 ducats from it by 1530.
Yeah it is Norse, and damn I was surprised when event chain show up, and later was again suprised I can even change culture and get ideas. And if someone want try be norse, one tip. Make earlier Scandinavia nation cause Norse culture can't make (maybe some event show up later but I havent yet).
As a Swede I had to downvote to suppress the amount of Danish eu4 content on yt.
Oh my freaking God. 169 attempts to get this event
IS THERE SECRET MISSION HOW ABOUT THE TENGRI TRIBE FORM FAR NORTH EAST ? 🌏
maybe
i love you ludi
I love you too Adam :X
I was soooo waiting for this! I was surprised this wasnt your first playthrough;).
I was also hoping for this, because I wanted to recreate Norse for all of Northern Europe! So this was seriously what I was hoping for! As a Dutchman, I love Scandinavia. So my mission: Make all of the North Norse and....include northern Germany and The Netherlands! Vamos!!!
Gosh imagine how it feels to be one of the other guys who posted a vanilla Norway guide in the last couple days… >.>
It would be really cool if they added a Hellenic religion in the next update
Ludi: I love the new ai it's easier to bait them.
Also ludi: Holy schanpeldorpskiblabadum I lost.
Eric the red: first confirmed troll in the history of humanity
Fun Fact, I am related to Erik the Red through his son Leif Eriksson! Who is credited with Founding the colony of Vinland in Newfoundland!
Great video! I like it!!
You are so kind
Looks like they're finally getting around to fixing the flaws and errors with this dlc. Hoping they fix Lithuania and include Romuva with a revival branching mission for a pagan empire similar to Bohemia and the hussite faith. Also some civil war would be historically accurate around 1444.
By 1444, Švitrigaila was still very much alive and he was a claimant to the throne of Poland and Lithuania who disliked how much power Poland and outside Catholic powers had on Lithuania
Hope they add an Romuva revival. It's literally the only country where there was a major religious revival(i.e when the wars of religion were happening, the area around Birutė hill aka the coast were noted as having returned to paganism and restored the pagan religious institutions)
@@kajus1402 I'm also hoping they add something in regards to Švitrigaila. No idea why he wasn't included and the whole sucession crisis going on in both Poland and Lithuania
Also hussite Lithuania would be an interesting option given Vytautas was deemed king of the hussites
Ludi you can try to play Age of History 2 in Steam. Its the clone of eu4 that has majority of eu4 mechanics but its worse.I played both eu4 and Age of History 2 (eu4 feels amazing after AoH2) but I recommend you to record this game because its a meme
I feel like since Paradox is going down this path they should have more pagan paths for all nations: Hellenic for Byzantium/Greece/Roman Empire, Canaanite (with Carthage formable) for Tunis, Celtic for Ireland and maybe Wales/Scotland/UK, also get Mesopotamian and Kemetic religions in there...would be seriously fun times and make the custom nation designer that much better to boot. :D
I still don’t get why they don’t put Romuva religion into the game
Come on ludi we all know you're norse no need to hide the truth
si
Always love your videos, I have not played EUIV in a while but this made me want to fire it up for the new patch. As a relatively inexperienced player I really appreciate they way you explain concepts that to intermediate players might take as a given.
As a CK player I love the idea of going Norse in Europa! Even if I dont got for the Norse religion thing the build up and going Colonial Norway via Greenland looks like a laugh even if I stay Christian.
I feel paradox paid more attention to this DLC than others lol
Fjord is a type of geographical terrain type (like mountain, hill, valley) and eirik found it it might be named after him. They did this at gibratal it is Cebel-i Tarık means Hill of Tarık because Tarık made his army camp at that hill when he invaded iberia
Is it a level 4 castle ludi?
no, u just get manpower bonus if u build it :(
@@LudietHistoria Thanks for the research Ludi
When you visit norway you can see the wooden churches, they are still quite norse.
Oh nice, first Norse tutorial.
Hope you enjoy!
Bro they made it almost impossible to get norse religion 💀, but fun and rewarding in the end
I really love this easter egg but it is SO ANNOYING that Norse cultured province names are broken even in Scandinavia!
Sweden’s infantry is so OP in this patch, its ridiculous. They can stack wipe armies 20% larger than them.
Cod Fish Empire 😋
As a swede I can confirm elves are from Elfsborg. Just dont tell everyone please as thry're quite shy and skittish (not to be confused with aggressive pixies) 🙏
Hmm yes eu4 lore of Norse Scandinavia in 1.34 momentum 100
I keep on hearing that manpower has been massively nerfed in this patch, is that just the professionalism and quantity nerfs? I wasn't aware of any other changes but the amount it's been repeated has made me doubt that, like it's still a big deal but yk.
Also I love how PDX hid this in there, Hope in the future they do similar things for other lost religions - although by far this is the most popular one, only other one I think could be interesting is the Steppe Christians so you could get a Native Christian Mongol Empire rather than Holy Horde Mongol Empire which is now possible.
Did Lupi not notice the +1 building slots 1st idea for Scandinavia? lol
20:00 im honestly impressed you knew about Gunnbjarnarsker (an island to the north west discovered around 900 that Erik heard about, it is believed to have been Greenland). while you didn't know the name, that's a niche trivia to kow
I needed this video.
Still waiting for the South East Asian Marines Strat
i like the new dlc allso ludi the skins you thought at the start of the game where not danish they where Holstein
Fun fact, it's not really called Erik's Fjord anymore but there's a fjord near the southern tip of Greenland with a few Viking settlement ruins, vestbygden is just West Greenland now, in Greenlandic it's kitaa, just west
Great success XD
“If I get 10,000 likes I’ll make this video” meanwhile the video is already made just waiting to be uploaded
Yup xD
They kept the manpower from policies the same tho so they didnt nerf all manpower.
You releasing the entirety of Scandinavia to Denmark gave me glaucoma in both eyes
xD
Video 17 of asking for a releasable Nitra tutorial.
We know what happened to the Viking People of Greenland though. The Inuits Genocided them in a war that began after a famine gripped Greenland. They talk about it in their myths and the original Viking settlements were torched and sacked.
holy shit never knew about this, will look into it, thanks for the info bro!
@@LudietHistoria yeah it's a really weird moment and if memory serves the Inuits look on that event with great shame. Basically an icelandic volcano went off around the same time the Norwegians lost contact and the volcanic ash led to crop failures and animal deaths in Greenland. Facing starvation, the Norse and the Inuits, who lived north of them, turned on each other over the remaining resources after a while. Though they had iron weapons and better tech, the Norse were too few in numbers and were eventually wiped out.
Amerigo Vespucci was never credited with discovering America, that was Columbus, Amerigo was credited with proving it was a new continent, not india
10:10
Great success 🤣🤣🤣
I was with you right up until you abandoned everything....
Ludi this is thank to you, you made the greenland norse recommendation
a note! if you check the wiki under "norse events," there's also a separate event chain you can follow to get norse as your state religion without having to be force converted by rebels! it has a long list of requirements, and a low chance of really working out, but it's doable.
Did the exact same thing. (Snooping through event files) I believe you can get it with any Scandinavian culture with the right setup (owning Bergslagen religious ideas sinner trait excommunicated ruler)
you are correct yeah
May i ask how to make the trait?

I've a stupid question for good players of EU4;
Is it really a big lose of money to give ALL the monopolies to the orders?
Things to consider; if monopolies are ON we have;
-100% mercantilism quicker and for each % a flat bonus to trade
-a good amount of money each X years that you can grow up because it's base on the production dev and buildings for it that you made (workshop,, manufactories, etc)
Poor forever with these dudes. I wish I were able to declare independence with having Sweden in the war at all. Me personally, I can’t stand Sweden in this game at all. Most annoying Nation in the game. Because they rival me, even when I’m only two or three provinces. So stupid.
at 18 mins you had 13% inflation...
You trying to emulate modernity? lol
*activates annoying sub voice* Awh, LOODI, the Black Death was in the 14th century, not the 11th, what's wrong with you bro?!

13:35 as Stockholm is called Tukhoma in Finnish, no, we don't have a problem with that xD
Haha selling ships as norway. Reason That is a achievement named Norwegian wood. Is because they produce alot of wood used in the Danish navy.
Ludi stupid question but whats the filter you got for your mic? I just realised I have the same microphone xD
I understand why they are nerfing manpower, because it's the main limiting factor to expansion, but I wish they would give you more to do while at peace.
In my playthrough, denmark just keeps breaking off the PU, even if their liberty desire is below 50%... and it doesn't even lead to war, they just "elect their own nobles" :/
Pleas play Lübeck
So the need a flagship to complete the mission? which mean you will need another DLC to be able to complete your missions? pay wall

It's not just Norway sweden and Denmark too should be able to form Scandinavian with adm tech criteria removed via their own respective mission tree branches
