    I love working with Drops Air and wearing it, but in my experience it pills a lot, and this way pulls the fibers out of the tube so the yarn will get really thin in high friction areas like under the arms etc. Also in my case the tube is white (the yarn is teal) and it will show once the fibers start to get pulled out in those areas. So for accessories definitely YES, for clothes that I wear a lot, maybe not so great.

    I like Drops Air - very soft and great price. Since it's a naturally drape-y yarn due to the alpaca content, I hold it with silk mohair to give it more structure especially for sweaters and cardigans. Since alpaca is a soft/fluffy yarn, that also means it's more prone to pilling and the mohair helps. You could use other lace weight yarns if mohair is not your thing.

      That’s a really good idea to pair it with mohair, I will try that perhaps with my next sweater :)

    Yes, Air is very uneven. I've used several colors and all had this issue. For some skeins difference between thick and thin parts is not huge, but I have had skeins where some parts are twice thicker that normal and other parts have polyester shell with almost no wool inside. And it is quite fragile. It did brake, when I used Italian bind-off technique.

      Oh wow okay, I guess I’ve been kind of lucky overall then! That’s frustrating that you haven’t had a good experience with it then ://

      @@stitchespastfive I like how soft this yarn is, but there are issues with the quality. I haven't used blown yarn from different brands, so I don't know, if maybe that is just how such type of yarn is in general. Although I experienced similar issues with other Drops yarns. Sometimes the yarn strand just changes thickness at some parts. It is not always, but happens.

      @@dacekundrate4391yeah I’ll definitely use this yarn in the future, I do love it at the end of the day - just something to be aware of I guess!

      I just knitted the Kutokavika Darling cardigan with this, I had 7 skeins and only 1 was not the best and it wasn’t the whole ball, just one bit was uneven and Knotty. I loved working with it and liked the price of it. It tried blocking or washing it yet but overall would definitely use it again. I have just bought Drops Cotton Merino to try for the next one. Great video btw x

      Hi! Yes for sure, they are both by kutovakika, from the book ‘knit this’. It’s ’Yukis sweater’ and the lighthouse beanie :)

    Hi, did you also use silk mohair with drop air for the hat? Also do you need to buy the book to find this pattern? I don’t seem to find it .😊

    • @stitchespastfive
      @stitchespastfive  19 днів тому +1

      Hi! I only used a single strand of drops air with it, no mohair! I just had another look on kutovakikas website and yes unfortunately it does seem like you have to buy the book for this pattern. I can definitely recommend the book, it has many nice patterns!

      Thanks. I've made a ribbed hat with drops air before, and have been wanting to make a stockinette one in the starberry milkshake colour which I think I what you've used. Might have to check out the book, her channel is great.
