Appreciate for helping Owners Op. it’s been stressful for us been in shops for long days waiting to be fix something minor like this. Thanks
Seems like pretty simple job. I have in mind to replace mine even though not leaking. The plastic cover is clouded up enough that its hard to see oil level. Thanks for posting. As a new owner operator I've learned quit a bit from your videos. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for watching and your positive feedback. I hope more of these vids prove useful and come in handy for you.
I’m having this trouble right now just 3 hours away from my delivery location thanks man just ordered the parts hopefully I will replace it plus it’s a Labour Day 😂
Bro me too I have to get out here and do two coolant lines and both steer axle hub oil caps and gaskets 💀
Make that 3 of us!
Thanks for the help !
When it leaks like that u can tell its not the hub seal its that plug that lets out oil. I replaced that and it fixed the problem it was dry for few months and started getting slightly wet again from there.
Be careful about the torque. Aluminum hub strips really easy.
You are amazing thank you 😊
Judging by the streaks coming from each wheel lug nut you probably should have torqued the lug nuts before cleaning the streaks off😅
Buy one of those super scrapers they’re worth every penny
No sealant on the gasket?
I have a question about headlights.
My 2015 cascadia has regular halogen headlights. I tried to install aftermarket led bulbs but my driver side doesn’t work on low beam but passenger side does. So I just put my regular halogen bulbs on. Do I need to program my headlights to run led’s?
Freightliner M2 and Thomas busses (assuming it's the same with the rest of them) run each headlight to 2 different body control modules. One is the Bulkhead module and is on the fire wall. The other is the chassis module and is directly under the floor/behind the LF wheel well. Usually LED lights require a resistor to mimic the same circuit resistance a halogen bulb has.
Hi bud, how often should we change steer oil?
I recommend doing trans and all hubs/diffs at every 100k miles. That way you remember every hundred thousand miles you’re doing everything.
I keep telling my pops to replaced the whole thing like this but he insists that putting silicone would solve the issue. It might work I guess
I mean he can sure give it a try, just make sure it’s dry before he fills it up. But they are cheap enough just to replace.
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 we tried it. Shit still leaking. So now he wants too take the hub off and seal it from there now. I’m still on the replace the whole thing scenario
mine popped out on the passanger side after climbing up on a curb after having to maneuver in a tight dock rea it leaked and i put it back on. and drove after everything seemed fine.. is there something i was supposed to do?
If it just poped off I’d be a little worried. I would Deff get a new one and new oil in there. Also make sure there no issues with any of the screw threads.
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 I dipped my finger in it and seems there’s oil still in there
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 the thing is inoticed it after getting unloaded and before i left the dock i put it back on there were some drops but ...and i drove after and it seemed ''okay'' but ima rookie so.. also i stuck my finger in there and there was some oil in there still
@@kingsleysarfo. Well youll know if there’s some damage down the road. You’ll smell it and they’ll definitely be some seizing up
what kind of oil does it take?
There special Lucas oil you can get for cooler temps or just synthetic 75/90 is fine
I'm really glad you stated that. I have that in my hubs now. Thanks again.
My Volvo battery dies very fast . What could have been an issue. Please help
Bad battery, bad alternator, poor wiring, loose wiring, too many loads drawing it down.
75-w90 for every truck?
Good question, we use that specific oil on all diffs and axles as its synthetic weight is perfect for them. And axle manufacturers recommend it. But always check with your manual or dealer for proper fluids.
75 90
You better shut off engine, before you start making video LoL!
