Just recently, I asked a young man (he's a senior in high school) out to prom. I did this because I learned that he didn't have a date to go to prom, and every girl he asked was already taken. He has sent me pictures of us at the dance and has sent his thanks for being his date for his senior prom. Then the question is why I would ask this young man out to prom if he sounds like a normal human being? Truth is, this young man is suffering with cerebral palsy. And I just made his senior year by allowing him to go to prom. I wasn't pressured. Or forced. Or did this out of pity. I did this because he is my friend. And this is what friends are for.
Thanks for reading this. God bless.

I used to be an in-home caregiver. Some families literally pawn their children's off to the state, leave and rarely visit (if ever). It's no coincidence they are the ones who are "troubled". Ya, I'd be pretty fucking troubled too if my family abandoned me. It's almost worse the families that come by every holiday season, just reminding them what they're missing. What makes these people think their child wont recognize being abandoned is beyond me.

You can't prove the one who rejected him was not in disgust by him asking her out, or him in general. She could have been nice about rejecting, it doesn't make the person rejecting any less of a bigot. The average person wouldn't see people with disabilities as a normal person or a person to be around, esp during high school, and even more so at a dance.
