I bought a used 2016 Z06 and got this warning a few weeks ago and it continued until I found a thread on the Corvette forum blog. This warning has been a mystery for gm and owners. I changed my dash to show voltage meter for a few days and the mystery was solved. The alternator was overcharging and sent the sensors into the warning stage that triggers the "service rear axle" light. I replaced the alternator and all is well with the world now.
Dang that simple but thats also a shame considering my car was only 7 .inths old with only 10 mikes when I bought it. Thats why im not willing to buy another GM product not even the C8.
@@unknow8551 sounds like the same issue. If you continue driving, the voltage will swing over 15 and even 16 amps. Are you getting the warning light about the trans axle
My 2015 Stingray would do that for a few seconds. After some research, the C7 computers are senstitive to voltage. I often let my C7 sit in the garage for 2-3 weeks. I learned the battery voltage dropped and it would take a few miles to completely recharge. I started charging the battery if it was idle for a few weeks (NOCO 10 Amp Charger) and the problem has never reoccured. I share this hoping it might resolve this odd alarm for some of you.
WHats scary is GM service center instead of looking at what you mentioned decided to RIP the rear end out and install a new one NO LIE. 1st they RIPPED out 2 and 3 gear syncs saying that was the problem with the shifting (DIDN"T FIX IT) then after they did that the rear axle light started coming on, THey had someone from GM headquarters come look and thats when they decided a new rear end was required I don't know if that fixed it because the next problem was when ever I made a right turn and accelerated the right rear axel would make a clicking noise as if the wheel was loose and wobbling. At that point I was like F it get rid of it.
Sadly they had tech service from GM come down and replaced the entire rear end. Shortly after that however I started to hear and feel a clicking noise in the right rear upon acceleration. At that point I was done with it. I decided to trade it and move on. Hated it too I always wanted a vette and unfortunately I got one that wasn't up to standards. Good Luck....
@@countwalker9362 i lemon lawed mines they gave me a payoff which is a negotiated settlement and you keep the car with full warranty. I took it because I really wanted a vette in my garage. But it was problems after problems then topped off with shitty service centers and repairs, so i just got fed up. I'm really wanting that C8 but I'll wait 5 yrs into the builds maybe get a gen 2 or 3 Z06.
I love Corvettes, always have, but I'm a Ford guy, so I stick with Mustangs (I'm on my 3rd). I should point out, I have had tremendous success with Ford's (Expeditions and Mustangs) and not so much with GM and Dodge, so I stick with what has worked for me and my family. That being said, I will have my Corvette some day (probably when I retire). Good luck with your car, hope it's just a computer glitch. Lord knows computers aren't perfect. And your car sounds great by the way. Peace.
Thanks, to be honest, this was a ONCE in a lifetime thing. If I had to do it again I WOULD NOT buy a GM product. The engine is no doubt solid as steel and bulletproof. But the other things inside the car the fit and finish leaves a little work. Also, I think if I had it to do over again I'd get the Z06 even though this car is hella powerful. If you gonna go for it go ALL the way.

@@JayDKB sorry to hear that because they're amazing hotrod's for the money like the Z06. Be safe and keep it between the ditches!
How much was the battery volt was because mine is at 14.9 and I think it’s over charging mine too

Did you ever find out what sensors were bad? My 17 Grand sport is getting the same error code.
No sir they just put in a entire new rear end.
Clogged injector bad plug loose wire bad coil?
None of that according to them
I have a 2019 z51 that happened to me today wat did they do to fix it
