Lyle Mays and Bill Evans both smiling now.
Superb, magnificent, extraordinary, sensational!! This is such a superior cover of the inimitable Pat Metheny. If I closed my eyes , I would have thought it was PMG. I have loved Pat Metheny since the 70s. So glad these beautiful young musicians are paying homage to Maestro Metheny while he is still with us. Lyle Mays and Mark Ledford are smiling down from heaven! Thank you all. Please come to the USA on tour. I just saw Pat at The Kennedy Center in DC on 6/26/23 before he left for Europe.
You have touched my heart with this ethereal melody. Bless you all. MBT
8/3/23
PS The First Circle Cover was exquisite!!!
Hey! Thanks so much for your kind words. It's a real pleasure to read comments like this. That's why we work on this project. Connect with people of love this music just like us. We'd love to get on tour, but it's a complex thing to do... There are so much fans in the USA, tho, I'm sure it's doable. We'll see! Cheers from Mtl
The best gift for Lyle… thank you❤
I choked up listening to this.....very spiritual. Thank you so much. Incredible performance.
Thank you 🥹
I would like to say "Bravo" Very well done
Merci beaucoup!
Incredible version. This brought a tear to my eye. This song always does. 🙏
Thanks
as a Pat Metheny / Lyle Mays fan I must say "wow! Perfect cover!"
Thank you!
It's full of surprises!
that's what makes it perfect
Totally awesome ! Lyle I’m sure was listening above. Metheny/Mays was my Lennon / McCartney so thanks for putting together a tribute band. Hope to see you on tour soon.
Superb...Pat woulld be proud.
Maravillosa versión! Gracias maestros, me emocionan profundamente
Muchas gracias a usted!
A sonic feast.
Tremendous performance and one of the greatest collabs I have ever seen/heard apart from Lyle and Pat - Bravo Chris and Louis!!! Thank you for giving the greatest music of the last 30 plus years even more well-deserved exposure!
That's too much!! Thanks again, Don. About the exposure, that's part of the spirit of the band. I'm glad to have fans like you. Cheers from Montreal!
@@firstcirclepmgt Cheers from Virginia USA
Thank you so much! It really means a lot!
Beautifully played with an exquisite piano solo.
Thanks Matt! Glad you liked the solo. Not an easy job...
Played with soul and heart....a truly respectful homage to Lyle and Pat. Hope to see and listen you in Italy soon or late.
Thank you!! Lots of people ask for a show in Italy. That's definitely something we'll be working on!
Absolutely outstanding. What better tribute than the flawless offering you've given. The attention to all details is to be celebrated, right down to the horizontally striped shirt that Pat himself would wear.
Thanks!! :D
nice! just watched the original, searching for my favorit song, As Falls Wichita...,
but this is amazing good to the original, it follows the track done by M/M,
and for those of us that didnt catch the moment in time, hope ill see/hear you at a some jazz festival in Europe, one that understands the importance of booking this kind of memory-lane projects and doesnt allways have to catch the nxt vibe..
thx!
Thanks so much for your heartwarming comment. I respect this kind of projects too. I see it a bit like classical orchestras who keep alive repertoire that was written decades/centuries ago.
I'd love to tour in Europe with this show, maybe one day. It's just so much work, I don't even know where to start!
Wow! Phenomenal Job on one of the most beautiful Metheny/Mays songs ever written and performed! If I heard this, without seeing it, I’m not sure I could tell the difference between your performance and Metheny and Mays. 👏🏻
Thank you Tom! I mean what a masterpiece... wish I could write melodies like this...
Me too! I’m not a musician. I wish I were, and that I wrote music like Pat Lyle. 😊
Wow, this performance might be better for me than the performances I've seen by the originals. Excellent! Thanks for this.
That's a huge compliment, thank you very much!!
no
Yeah.
Nailed it.
Big time.
I wish videos shot in the 80’s could have been this good. Great video as well.
Best 8 minutes of the week.
Thanks.
Thanks to you!! Yeah I wish too, we'd have incredible footage of the masters.
Absolutely heavenly. You guys have nailed this to perfection 👏👏❤️🎶🎵🎶🎵
Thank you so much!
Beautiful job, Christophe and Louis-Martin. I love the chord changes near the end of the piano solo. You two express all the feeling that is meant to be.
Thank you Chris!! The ending is actually from Metheny and Mays. That's how they used to end the tune live.
@@firstcirclepmgt I will have to listen again... the only live version I remember was at Paul Masson winery on the Imaginary Day DVD.
@@chrissupport that's exactly the version I'm talking about :)
In perfetto spirito Mays. Bravo !
Grazie mille!!
Wow, tears, heartfelt amazing
Thank you Trevor 💙
Absolutely beautiful 👏🏻
Thanks!
well, this is truely amazing. Thx🤩
Thanks to you!
Now I wait for the last lyle’s masterpiece… Eberhard…❤
Oww ... Quelle belle reprise
Merci beaucoup!
wow❤
BRAVO TRES BEL HOMMAGE !!!
Merci beaucoup!!
Simply beautiful..
I just discovered your group tonight. Sometimes insomnia can have unexpected benefits...
Simply incredible. I do hope a tour of the U.S. is in your future and that it includes Ohio!
Oh we do hope too! I'm glad UA-cam brought you to us :D
Simply wow. Hope to see you all perform live one day in my hometown of SA Texas. Bravo 👏
Thanks Juan! We got a few comments from people living in Texas. We should definitely play there one day :D
You guys just made my day. Bless you all.
Thank you Jim! We're glad you like it.
Bravo 👍
Thanks!
This is beautiful.
I always get a bit emotianal listing to PMG….and now it happend too…I guess that’s a compliment 👍🏻
Yes it is! Thank you very much
In this composition which is a tribute that Pat and Lyle did to Bill Evans is clearly seen Satie…. Which by the way was one of Bill Evans major influences
I did'nt know Satie was a Bill Evans' influence. I don't know his works that much but I'll check it out!
Absolutely outstanding 🎶🎵🎶🎵🙏🙏❤️❤️
Thank you!!
The piano from the 5:07 mark forward is just magical and when you guys hook up afterwards... wow! Spending more time here than on my channel
Thanks!! Yeah at the end of the day I'm kinda happy with this solo. The whole section is I'd say 50/50 imrovised vs. prepared. I plugged a few chord progressions that I liked and I think were sounding idiomatic. Lyle was such talented, he could hear anything and play it instantly without thinking... The connection between his mind and his hands was just out of this world.
@@firstcirclepmgt there are so many gifted pianists yet Lyle's gift was not excluded to the sheer musicianship and style but also the compositional element which is so noticeably absent from Pat's work without his contribution. Yes, the 'chord progressions' were so awesome and love the improv boldness!
Wow - so interestingly interpreted. Thank you.
Thanks to you, Mark!
When are you going on tour? You guys and ladies are great! I would love to see your tribute band at the Tarrytown Music Hall in Tarrytown, New York. Let's make it happen! Outstanding sound! Thanks!
Hey Kevin! Thank you so much!! We'd love to play in Tarrytown. It's not that far from Montreal, really doable driving distance. The problem is touring with a band of this size is complicated (in terms of schedule and money $$)... But if you have any input to make this happen, PLEASE let me know!!
esti que ça sonne !
Thx man!!
Beautiful, just beautiful 😍. But like Canada? Really?
Thank you!! Well we did'nt choose hahaha
please come in ITaly
Ciao Davide! Man, we'd love to. I know there are a lot of PMG fans down there. It's just a very complicated project with a band of this size...

🙏
Splendid execution! May I know what software to use to obtain a warm pad so extraordinarily identical to the very famous Oberheim Four Voice used by Lyle? Thanks and congratulations!
Thanks very much! It's actually a blend of two or three OB strings pads from my Roland FA-08. Maybe with a layer of Cherry Audio Eight Voice VSTi, I don't remember. The best emulation of this legendary synth is by far the GForce OB-E. Quite expensive... But nowadays I only use the FA-08 for this tune. Works fine. Thanks again to you and cheers from Montreal!
when's the PMG tribute band coming to NYC? you will find a nice audience
Oh I know we would! It's just a very complicated thing to plan... for now we focus on shows in Quebec and Ontario. And USA regulations make it very difficult money wise for canadian artists.
4:48 Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3???
Yeah haha at that time this masterpiece was on my mind...
sans le masque covid c'est mieux
Oui en effet...
tempo
