This is very beautiful. Rob Thomas's vocals is really superb and very sensitive. He and Matchbox Twenty have been vastly successful but I think they're still underrated. Heck the only time Rob Thomas got recognized by the Grammys was when he co-wrote "Smooth"! And as Santana himself attests, Rob Thomas' contribution was critical in making the song the acclaimed juggernaut hit it became.
Nice job, brutha. Rob's great of course, but the band is *so* on the money. Kyle's backing vocals are deadnuts on, the brass sounds studio, drums & bass tight as a tennis racket. Man, did I enjoy this iconic song. Cheers, mates!
Great love song I miss those days when life was much more meaningful but those days are gone now. Hang on and never give up . Thanks match box for all the memories.
Gosh I’ve heard this song for years since I was a young kid but now view it differently. My little brother passed away almost 3 weeks ago, a week before his 24th birthday, he was gone and needed to come home 😥.
Wow no difference to a concert 22yrs later,❤ fkn brilliant band ,been to every concert since 97 in Australia I've missed out on tickets since now 2023😢
I was on the 2000 Mad Season tour in Australia. 3 weeks of shows in late October/ November. Was incredible. Had never been there before. Lots of memories.
Wow. Nice catch! Never saw that and I stood next to her the whole time. It was 20 years ago, though..I found it after looking. @3:00 you can see her coming up with the trumpet.
@@haysfordays LOL! You must have been fully-engrossed in the moment to not have noticed her switching instruments. I can understand though. You're on freaking Letterman! BTW, when you get a gig like this, do they give you the sheet music or do they just hand you a CD and have you listen to how the session artists played it?
@@freddyt55555 Yeah, I was definitely engrossed. I toured with them for a year. At this point, which was Jan/Feb 2001, I had been with them since late August '00, so we knew the music pretty well. haha. When we started the gig we were given sheet music, and memorized it. We only played 6 songs a night at most. Definitely an interesting job. hahaa
a sign of a great band is being able to make their live shows sound like the albums. These guys nailed it back then and still do in 2024.
Fabulous band! Love Rob Thomas.❤😊 Still listening in 2023.

What would happen if it wasnt for Kyle Cook with that backing vocal performance..amazing live performance close to the album
Wow! A touch of class on letterman?
My friend Danny Bonomo loves Matchbox Twenty especially Rob Thomas
Rob is a good guy!
