Heck the only time Rob Thomas got recognized by the Grammys was when he co-wrote "Smooth"! And as Santana himself attests, Rob Thomas' contribution was critical in making the song the acclaimed juggernaut hit it became.
Nice job, brutha. Rob's great of course, but the band is *so* on the money. Kyle's backing vocals are deadnuts on, the brass sounds studio, drums & bass tight as a tennis racket. Man, did I enjoy this iconic song. Cheers, mates!

Gosh I’ve heard this song for years since I was a young kid but now view it differently. My little brother passed away almost 3 weeks ago, a week before his 24th birthday, he was gone and needed to come home 😥.

At this point, which was Jan/Feb 2001, I had been with them since late August '00, so we knew the music pretty well. haha. When we started the gig we were given sheet music, and memorized it. We only played 6 songs a night at most. Definitely an interesting job. hahaa
