When I heard this song for the first time back in the '70s (oops now im giving away my age), the singing would touch my soul and warm me up, when i was cold. the sounds still send trembles down my spine. and its 2010.
My cousin lives in Texas, and she thinks it's so hick that we would write songs about our state.. & that everyone has them memorized.. I think were CREATIVE!!
In 19 aught 6...no, it was 1985. In 1985 my friend Pez and I standing outside the squad bay ready for a bright new day.Wearing boots, cover and cammies, I looked at Pez and he looked at me. For some reason I started singing "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" with a Cockney accent, and started dancing from one leg to another in time. Pez joined in and we were both doing it. As we danced and sang, each separately, a sargent comes up to me and asks me, "Cld you show me the steering wheel puller again?".
@eyesk8er :: I'm a substitute teacher in local high schools. The kids taking Theater and Chorus in the classes I had today are watching this film in preparation for a production of OK that they are mounting in the spring.
The genre of the song is broadway. The genre of Mr. MacRae's voice is that of an opera singer's (even though he was not an opera singer, his voice is trained that way).
ive just lost a bet cuz for the last 30 or so years i could of sworn Howard Keele sang and starred in this film I remembrer Gordon in Carousel singing "My son Bill" but not in this! How strange
The sky is blue and all the leaves are green. The sun's as warm as a baked potato. I think I know precisely what I mean, When I say it's a shpadoinkle day. :)
Henry I agree with you. I just took a Native American History class, and they were not killed off by just Disease. There was starvation, bad environmental conditions, and also being uprooted and put into reservations also had something to do with it. And by the way, those diseases were caused by Europeans and American's coming here when and spreading it, when they were immune. So it was both European and American responsibility.
During WW2, an air pilot participating in the attack on Iwo Jima was shot down over the island, and over his radio transmission, command could his last words, a defiant parody. "Oh what a beautiful Morning, what a beautiful Day, I've got a terrible feeling, everything's coming my way." He was the first air pilot to die on Iwo.
it's 00:30 in south africa, and here I am writing a 600 word article on a topic which I know barely anything about . . . life of a journalist! anyway - this song right here has officially made being up this late - or early, depending on how you look at it - quite very worthwhile!
It was a beautiful morning, but later on that day, he fell off the horse, broke his ankle, and ended up in hospital. He was last heard singing, oh what a terrible afternoon!
@AliceCullensAwesome Yes, that technology has been around at least since the 1930's. That's how they were able to put voices into animated movies as early as Snow White in 1937. I agree, he's still really awesome :)
I'm not gonna lie, I don't especially like Oklahoma...however. If PatD covered any song from any musical, I would be ridiculously happy. Musicals! Win! Do it, Brendon!
@bookwormpianist For info it was Jeremy Brett who played the part of 'Freddy' and sang On The Street Where You live. He is more famous for his depiction of Sherlock Holmes in the TV production of the same name. Cheers (and read more books, it's an education!)
It'd be hilarious if someone photoshoped this slightly and put a double rainbow in the background and Gordon MacRae rode off and the double rainbow dude come on and is like "WOOO HOOO! DOUBLE RAINBOW....ALL THE WAY!"
If it's only the victims who keep changing, then that means the oppressor doesn't change. Should we not try to change the oppressor's patterns and attitudes toward other civilizations?
Since the beginning of the course of human events the land of this earth has belonged to whoever could take it and hold it. There is no moral judgment to be made...it is just the facts. My Choctaw ancestors took the land from an earlier society who probably took it form an even earlier one.
@AliceCullensAwesome He probably lip-synced this song while riding the horse, and then at some other time recorded the actual song in a professional recording studio. I think most movies, if not all, do it that way.
Even though I absolutely love Gordon MacRae's voice, you should listen to William Warfield sing before you deem Gordon as the best... I'd reccommend MGM's 1951 production of Show Boat's "Ol' Man River" that WW sang (just for reference).
Thank you. This song is helping me stay positive during a major illness.
I have to say this is one of my favorite musicals of all time.. soo happy to hear this song again,, life was simpler, happier then!
Rogers & Hammerstien who wrote the lyrics and music were treasures to musicals. I love all their work!
wow 1 yr on and i still like this song lol.. cant beat the good old times, know im only 48 was b 4 my time.. songs of today are nothing of love...
When I was a little girl my father used to sing this song every day while he was getting ready to go to work. Magnificent, nostalgic memories.
I've just adopted this as my morning mantra to cheer me up in the morning!
Fantastic waking up to this song!
wow my mom used to wake me up by singing this to me.
This is possibly the best way in the world to wake up a kid IMO
God, what a voice! I saw him in a concert about 20 years or so ago, still had it. Amazing...
This movie is soo special.love the songs, love the actors/actresses,love..everything!!! nothin like old movies
my grandma always sang this to me. LOVE the memories ❤
When I heard this song for the first time back in the '70s (oops now im giving away my age), the singing would touch my soul and warm me up, when i was cold. the sounds still send trembles down my spine. and its 2010.
so many lovely memories shared with my dear mum. God Bless. x
Oklahoma is one of my all time favorite movies :)
I heared this on Q94 in the morning and loved it
non-stop grin going on here! Love this movie! And his voice!
A perfect singing actor. Listen to all his work and (as my mentor, Clyde Gilmour said), listen to how he sings softly.
OMG this is totally the musical drama club is putting on! we are gonna rock this
lovley song from a happy man, wish ppl were like this the whole world over, instead of these sensless wars and killing..
My cousin lives in Texas, and she thinks it's so hick that we would write songs about our state.. & that everyone has them memorized.. I think were CREATIVE!!
wish that people still sang like this! it's so much better than the crap that's called music today!
I love him. He and George Hearn (in his younger more proliferant days) are my two favorite Musical Theatre Baritones.
aww this reminds me of my mom...one of her favorite musicals :)
Oh what a beautiful voice!
LOVE THIS SONG!!!

Great song for a good attitude.
..i saw this play three nights in a row lolz i still love itttt
Love this! Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could see clean, wholesome, love stories so well done today.
Best baritone ever (certainly outside of opera).
I will pay so much money to hear Brendon Urie sing that song haha!!
I love his voice! My highschool is doing this musical, and I'd never seen it before, but I really liked it!
I love how the horses ears are turned back to him the whole time :)

Gordon MacCrae's the man. The best Curly of all the recordings I've heard.

LOVE this so much! O "what a beautiful" voice too! How could anyone DISlike This?!!

He is the male lead in the musical Carousel. I think many of the songs from Carousel are on UA-cam.
@eyesk8er :: I'm a substitute teacher in local high schools. The kids taking Theater and Chorus in the classes I had today are watching this film in preparation for a production of OK that they are mounting in the spring.
That is priceless. I bow to you.
The genre of the song is broadway. The genre of Mr. MacRae's voice is that of an opera singer's (even though he was not an opera singer, his voice is trained that way).
I wish I could just break into song when doing stuff like he does. And sound half as good as him.
Brendon Urie is the reason I'm here.
i have to sing this for choir
Thanks for posting this! Gordon Mac Rae is incomparable :-)
Gordon MacRae. He was wonderful.
ive just lost a bet cuz for the last 30 or so years i could of sworn Howard Keele sang and starred in this film I remembrer Gordon in Carousel singing "My son Bill" but not in this! How strange

:)
Wow! he looks like Mange Ottosson!
Oh my lord...great job, brendon. :)
He was also in a few movies with Doris Day. Just type in Gordon MacRae and you'll find more of him.
Henry I agree with you. I just took a Native American History class, and they were not killed off by just Disease. Originally, they tried to get Mr. Ed to do this scene, but he kept singing along with Gordon.
Brendons voice would be perfect for this :D
Oklahomas the best state
Good job Brendon.
haha, you would do a great cover on this.
haha bless you brendon urie!
I'm not gonna lie, I don't especially like Oklahoma...however. If PatD covered any song from any musical, I would be ridiculously happy. Musicals! Win! Do it, Brendon!

Madison scouts 2011! cant wait!!
Zusterrr!!! You should know this one!
Gordan MacRae was the man.
Cracks me up, though, this was shot in Arizona. Just google locations for the film...
This movie was actually filmed in Arizona.
I sing the chorus of this whenever I get the Death Machine in Nazi Zombies.
here is the corus:
Oh, what an OCD morning!
Oh, what an OCD day!
I've got that OCD feeling!
Washing is here to stay!
either that horse is small or he's one tall man
It'd be hilarious if someone photoshoped this slightly and put a double rainbow in the background and Gordon MacRae rode off and the double rainbow dude come on and is like "WOOO HOOO! DOUBLE RAINBOW....ALL THE WAY!"

Do you know how hard it is to find this version? Thanks SO MUCH ^^
I'd be wondering about your scout master lol
Like if you are broadway star in your dreams instead of a depressed science undergrad
best video on youtube
I had to sing this in general music...
@AliceCullensAwesome He probably lip-synced this song while riding the horse, and then at some other time recorded the actual song in a professional recording studio. I think most movies, if not all, do it that way.
@zava55 LOL!!!!!! that comment was classic !!! loved it!!
is oklahoma the ok state? i think that oklahoma is more than ok!
Just sing and just let what happens happens :P
Even though I absolutely love Gordon MacRae's voice, you should listen to William Warfield sing before you deem Gordon as the best... I'd reccommend MGM's 1951 production of Show Boat's "Ol' Man River" that WW sang (just for reference).
are you the same jay garrish who lived on gleason ave in connecticut? if so, i am him ;)

@kristiybisty "singin' this in choir" it's "singin' " in the vernacular

@SondraHarnes You are so right.
Musical theatre.
