John Fogerty has one of the greatest voices in rock and roll history. He started out as a drummer, having to raise his voice over the drum set. He developed into a powerful singer and also a great guitar player. He's also a very nice and likable person.
I feel like I can trust this Abe Lincoln guy. He seems honest.
Doug Clifford and Stu Cook don’t find him all that likable.🤔
@@sasquatch885 Maybe they have reason to, nobody is perfect, but the simple fact is that John Fogerty was the one with the talent, he wrote the hits
@@bbb462cid unlike the actual president.
@@robertjones6971 Or the last lying SOB. You know, the orange, racist one.
John Fogerty is a national treasure
On the album "Centerfield", John Fogerty played every instrument. It's a great album.
It’s a fantastic album
@James Buckingham Yes. Even the Sax that's on some of the songs. When I learned this when the album came out. I was very surprised he was that talented.
@@txheadshots Yes it is.
@James Buckingham on "the blue ridge rangers" he played like 20 instruments! Genius
The drummer from John Cougar Mcallamap 80s band played the drums on Centerfield.
John Fogarty did a lot of the work on CCR's music. When he left the group he had to go to court to be able to do some of his own work in concert. He's awesome in concert also. His song Center Field is a baseball opening season stable. He's just good.
And the judge had to rule that it was impossible to say that John Fogerty sounded too much like himself
He was CCR. What did they ever do after John left? They lived off his portfolio and The Old Man collected royalties from John's songs.
Think you meant staple
I love guitar I am learning play his song@@txheadshots
John Fogerty's signature voice is one of the most distinctive sounds in rock-n-roll history. His songwriting skills are just as important for driving the unique songs of both Credence Clearwater Revival and his own solo career. We still haven't heard you react to him with CCR in two classic numbers, LOOKING OUT MY BACKDOOR and RUN THROUGH THE JUNGLE. And there is a video of a performance with the Fairfield Five gospel group from his album Blue Moon Swamp that deserves your attention. The song is ONE HUNDRED AND TEN IN THE SHADE. It literally paints a picture of old southern summer heat and musical thirst of hard it was to work in the fields. It made that ice cold lemonade worth the wait. Amber might remember those long gone days from her youth.
Another suggestion, John Mellencamp-
PAPER IN FIRE.
Looking out my back door is very very good, my favorite CCR song.
Good suggestions. John (The man of many names) Mellencamp is an artist they need to hear.
I might even toss in PINK HOUSES for good measure.
What a great tune!!! John Fogerty is truly a LEGEND!
John Fogerty, is one of the best singer of all time. Solo and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Keep up the good work 👍 from Dave in Australia.
He has the untamed vocals of Memphis rockabilly. It’s a backwoods howl.
Not only is he a great singer songwriter, he plays every instrument on most if not all his solo albums! Remarkable! Peace & Love
Absolutely. He played all the Instruments on his first 3 solo albums (plus the never released "Hoodoo")
@@ilvescuso5538 "On The Run" is a lost classic.
@@RideAcrossTheRiver it's my favourite track from Hoodoo
HOT ROD HEART-JOHN FOGARTY ❤
This is my kind of music lay back and just chill 😃
It is such a shame that music like this is not mainstream anymore. Love it!!!
it is for me.
@@davidkettell5726 Corrected. I meant that it should still be mainstream.
I stream it from my car on Main all the time!
I love that the first guy uncovering the guitar amp and then we follow the patch-chord all the way to John playing his guitar.
John Fogerty was the leader of CCR. He wrote the songs, played lead and sang lead.
Fogerty has 'grit'.... that distinctive voice
Fogerty and CCR are from El Cerritos, California, a town north of San Jose. His unique voice is even more evident in "Long As I Can See The Light" and "Tombstone Shadow". I love and miss hearing it.
driving back country roads with windows down jamming to this song and ccr and John Fogerty songs. I live in a small country town my hometown. good memories when John fogerty songs playing and ccr songs.
Fogerty has such an amazing sound. Incredible.
One of the masters of the swamp rock / swamp soul sound.
He has Bayou Sound listen to the Blue Moon Swamp Lp one of his best Solo efforts A Grammy winner
It’s a funny thing, people think that John Fogerty is from the “SOUTH” because he sings with a Southern accent, but the truth is he was born and raised in California!!
Since you're both coaches, you've gotta take a listen to listen to Fogertys' Centerfield, another solo hit off this album I think you'll enjoy!
It's all about who you listened to...that's why he sounds that way
John Fogerty is a generational voice. Only so often
John Fogerty sings the Centerfield song. An amazing song that rings through my childhood playing baseball.
"Put me in coach" 🎶
Part of the reason John went "solo" was a dispute with CCR's record label. Afterward he started achieving success with his new label, the old record label sued him claiming he was infringing on the copyrights of CCR by sounding so much like them. He argued that he wrote and sang most of CCR's music, so the "sound" was his even if the old record label owned the copyrights for CCR's songs. It cost him a lot of money, but the courts ruled in his favor, saying that to rule otherwise would be tantamount to preventing from practicing his trade.
This is true! The only musician in history who has ever sued himself for copyright infringement! 🤣
John Fogerty sings a great baseball song called CENTER FIELD!
This man is beyond a legend
When this song came out John Fogerty’s old record label tried to sue him for copyright infringement. They said it sounded too much like the CCR song “Run Through The Jungle “.Of course it sounds the same the guy wrote both songs
Yah, I was in H.S. when that happened. Essentially, he was being sued for plagiarizing...himself. (I know: "Wait, what?") Here's the Wiki link to the 'controversy':
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Run_Through_the_Jungle#Controversy
I thought it was green river, " I cery well could be mistaken " but they accused him of plagiarizing hinself!!!
Listened to an interview with Fogerty about how he was sued after leaving CCR and recording on his own. He suit said he was “copying” CCR and the suit was seeking to stopping the sale of the album. When he was questioned he just said I wasn’t copying anyone, that’s me, how I make music. It’s what I did with CCR and still do. (Paraphrasing the comments here. ) Don’t recall the outcome of the suit. But, there is no doubt about who Fogerty is and what his music sounds like, it unique and quite wonderful!
The fun thing about John and the band is that He was born in Berkeley, CA and raised in El Cerrito, CA - no where near a swamp.
Ha! When I learned that fact many years ago, I was thinking "no way is that possible"! But it's true, John is a So. Cal. Boy!
This was called swamp rock. Crazy thing was Fogerty lived in CA when writing all these songs.
John is from California folks. Just blessed with his southern sound. John is CCR. Wrote most of the songs then. Still writing and performing in his 70s. Check out his vids from covid lockdown with his kids.
John Fogerty had a band before Credence Clearwateer Revival. The band was called Blue Ridge Rangers. Good classics on that particular group. Today I started loving you again,.
Fogerty played all the instruments on this album, not to mention, he wrote all the songs.
He did an album called the Blue Ridge Rangers a lot of all country songs I believe he played all the instruments in the recording of that album
It's always amazes me how John Fogerty's unique voice and music evokes that delta rock-bluesy sound when he was born and raised in California. It's great to enjoy his music all over again with you guys! ;o)
Been a big fan since the sixties. Most Under-rated of all time.
"Centerfield" is an iconic song of John Fogerty
A little background on Johnny Winter. Born in Texas, he briefly played with Jimmy Hendrix in the early 60's before they became famous. He lived in Mississippi with Muddy Waters for many years right near Highway 61. He was an albino and just recently passed away. He is a well deserved member of the Texas Blues and Rock and Roll Hall's of Fame. If you want to experience his versatility, check out the mandolin on Too Much Seconal from his Still Alive and Well album.

Jay,one for you done by him. "PUT ME IN COACH,I'M READY TO PLAY,TODAY. The guitar he plays on it is made from a major league bat. He was asked to donate it to the Baseball H.O.F. & it resides there today. Great song.🤠
Centerfield.
This song and "Center field!Hits are all instruments done by John in his home studio!
CCR is a great band. Their songs age very well. Fogerty has a very unique voice. Some music just stands out. It is at the top of the wave. Good music is immortal.
100% John Fogerty. This is all him, every sound you hear. Great artist. He's from California.
Doc Watson Tennessee Stud. Doc is an amazing bluegrass guitarist with a great down home voice. He is blind. Tennessee Stud is a Johnny Cash song that tells a story. I grew up on Doc's version. You won't be disappointed! Also thanks so much for your wholesome content. You both are getting me through some hard times. I appreciate you.
Fun fact: In the 1980s, Saentz/Fantasy sued Fogerty for supposedly plagiarizing his own "Run Through the Jungle" - a CCR song to which Fantasy owned the publishing rights - with his solo hit "The Old Man Down the Road." A jury decided in Fogerty's favor.
I've loved CCR and John Fogerty since first hearing them in1968. Always played at the 7th thru the 12th grade
Love this song still has that classic 60s CCR sound....60s meets n blends in the 80s.
A great bluegrass crossover hit that was played on rock stations is a song called "Amie" by Pure Prairie League. Great structure, lively guitar pickin' and robust harmonies make this a joyful classic.
Amie is awesome
The Fogertys and CCR are from northern California. But John adopted New Orleans and the bayous and visa versa. He has always had that Cajun spirit inside of him.
Centerfield!!! Centerfield!!! Its a sports song about baseball and a lot of fun.
John Fogerty is a National Treasure.
He was sued, by the owner of the CCR music, for stealing from his own music- crazy but true!
And it was incited by his former friend and band mate- so much lunacy John has suffered.
You need to also try his Song called "Centerfield". (Excellent Tune)
When I have a rare bad day like today, one of the first things I do is look up one of your new reactions - and sometimes even old ones. Your love and knowledge (and desire to learn) of music is infectious as opposed to others who do reactions that seem more like they just want to be seen and who interrupt constantly (one does it after about every 30 seconds). You wait and jump in at just the right times (to me, at least). So thanks for brightening some days
Yea! I'm glad you got to this one. Always liked this song.
Yes, when you hear Fogarty, you know it's CCR. Very Southern. To me they have a whiskey sound.. smooth, but with bite.
Perfect description Shari Kraft!!! Nailed it
@@CJBW why...thank you, thank you. Lol
John Fogerty is the one in CCR that paints the pictures! Except for the cover songs that CCR did and a song called Walk On The Water on CCR’S first album that him and his brother Tom (the rhythm guitarist in the group) wrote together, John Fogerty is the one who wrote all the songs!
Guys, John C. Fogerty is not only one of the most iconic voices in rock, and one of the greatest songwriters, and performers, he is still out there doing it and hasn't missed a lick. I saw him about four years ago in Cincy with ZZ Top, and the Old Man Down the Road still has it. If he comes to a venue near you, by all means go see him, you will not regret it.
Wasn’t he also known as John Fogerty and the Beaver Brown Band?
He writes the lyrics and music.. in the Centerfield album he played all the instruments and then mixed the individual instruments into the finished song.. he wrote all but a slim few of CCR’s songs..
I played the heck out of Long As I Can See The Light at my local pizza joint. It was an old style jukebox, and they never changed the songs. It was wonderful.
Another one of his great solo hits is Rockin Roll Girl.
Good song good reaction another song by John foggaty is center field
Fogerty has some great solo stuff too, Premonition, center field, rock and roll girls
Another song he sang and wrote was "Long as I Can See The Light." I love playing CCR songs on guitar. Easy chords great beats.
Never heard Johm Fogerty before and I loved it so thank you guys 👍
John Fogerty was sued by CCR, which he founded, wrote almost all the songs for, sang and played lead. It’s a long, weird story, but the quick version is that this song sounds similar to “Run Through The Jungle” by CCR. He wrote both!! John gave up rights to CCR songs to get out of the band. There’s more, that’s the gist, but it should be noted that Fogerty v Fantasy was settled in the US Supreme Court!!!
Can you imagine that? Fogerty, his song and his voice, sounds like CCR?
It's crazy. The singer/songwriter/lead guitarist for a band having to explain why his solo work might sound similar! I remember he sat in court with a guitar explaining how he went about writing songs.
I love this song. He sang it when I saw him in concert.
You have to hear the live version of Long as I can See the Light by John Fogerty
Amber, if you want some down-home bluesy, Southern rock, you HAVE TO check out John Cougar Mellencamp's "Paper and Fire." I guarantee you BOTH will love this one. The official video for this song needs to be the version you play. Enjoy!
I think I'd call the style "swamp rock". Although Fogerty is a California boy and was not actually "Born On the Bayou", it's clear that the bayou is where his musical heart lies.
Well as I've pointed-out here before, Fogerty and CCR hail from Berkely California here in the Bay Area. BUT THAT is what is so AMAZING: How can someone from the cosmopolitan Bay Area sound LIKE THEY GREW-UP ON DA SWAMP? By the way, since you probably don't know because you two don't seem to know, well, ANYTHING, is that ''The Old Man'' is a name for the Mississippi River. ''Old Man River''. SO now that you have learned your lesson of the day, give this a listen again. It sounds like Fogerty is talking about how river denizens have to flee when the ''Old Man'' rises and FLOODS as it often has.
So glade that John made it through all the legal challenges with CCR and is still such a Great performer.
John Fogerty used to live not far from me in Franklin,TN. We would see him in the parking lot of local restaurants, grocery stores etc. he seemed like just a nice regular guy. His kids were cute too
GREAT REACTION JORDAN!! In my opinion, a person Feels good country music as much as Hears it. To me, that's the essence of Three Chords and the Truth! Love ya both!
John Fogerty was CCR,he wrote, played lead guitar, and sang every song
You can call it Southern Rock or Country Rock. It doesn't matter where they grew up. They were influenced by this music, by the old masters of it, and they are channeling it thru their love of it. Databyter
Absolutely. To say because they live in Cali, they can't be called Southern Rock. I guess you can't be singing Country unless you live in Nashville or more to the point, you can't sing Country if you live in a city. It's stupid.
When CCR broke up, their record label kept the copyrights. This song, on a different label, is just a lyrical rewrite of Run Through the Jungle with the same melody. The original record label sued him and lost in court, but Fogerty's countersuit to recover legal fees was unsuccessful.
No way is this a rewrite.
Fogerty's "Rock and Roll Girls" is amazing.
With Jordan being a sports fan, John Fogerty wrote a song about baseball called “Centerfield”
John's playing like 4 guitar parts on this song !
I’ve been hoping you would get to this one. Merry Christmas to you all
To me John is the best! Believe their style is referred as swamp rock. Nightime is the Right Time by CCR is fantastic. Johns solo CENTERFIELD is very good. He just did a concert in FL fall of 21,had to be great. He's definitely worth seeing in concert.
What vI loved about CCR was Ramble Tamble one of their BEST SONGS!
Omg my favorite song ,it's so me.
Oh man I feel the same- Amber
Same here
Great old song! Great singer.
I always thought of CCR and John Fogerty as California swamp rock. They had a gritty groove all their own. Happy New Year. Cheers....
Thank you again! Love Fogarty, and CCR! They were the inspiration for me to start a band in 1969 doing their stuff! Such fun dsys🎶👍😜
Your reactions are pure and genuine and you can not go wrong learning more about John Fogerty.
I hope that you all had a happy holiday. I would just describe Fogerty as classic American sound. He dabbles in the Southern sound, the swamp sound, the 60's rock rebellion sound. He sounds like America.
This song makes you feel like your way out in the woods sitting around a camp fire and playing music with your friends and family. Also I hope yall have a wonderful Christmas.. Have yall heard of the band Bread? They are a early 70's band. I think you would like them there like a soft rock. The words to there songs tell a story you can get lost in the words. If is a great one, Diary, Guitar Man. Keep on what yall are doing I'm a fan..
Yeah, if you're tellin' ghost stories. This song is about the Devil.
I saw John at Jazz fest in New Orleans, several years ago. I am 71 years old so, I grew up with CCR & John. J, Like you I am a city boy. Grew up in New York, but when John sings I feel like putting on some bib overalls & chewing on a blade of grass. BTW, at Jazz fest, he had the crowd rockin', We're talking about teens up to old geezers like me. If you go through his whole catalog, before you finish, you might be as old as me!
I only got to see John Fogerty perform live once, but it was memorable. He played one of his biggest hits, “Centerfield” before a NY Yankees game at Yankees Stadium on a baseball bat guitar. You should check that song out, you’ll love it. Especially Jordan, being a coach.
The only musician in the Baseball Hall of Fame 🤘👊⚾️
I think it was a Louisville Slugger I believe. he also had a matching plaid shirt and guitar
It was said that on his Centerfield album, John played ALL the instruments himself.
One of John Fogertys solo songs is probably the most played song at baseball games all over the country. "Center field" is a classic song that almost everyone has heard, whether they knew it was Fogerty or not.
As a huge fan of baseball, there is nothing better than hearing John Fogerty's "Centerfield" on the radio on a beautiful summer day on the way to the ball field.
When CCR started, everybody thought they were from Louisianna or somewhere near there because of "Down on the Bayou" and the sound they had, not to mention the name of the band, and that assumption wasn't surprising, given all the aforementioned factors. In art, it doesn't matter where someone's from, where they're going, what they look like, their political opinions or any other extraneous matters, the craft is correctly considered as an item standing alone, no other influences cluttering the appreciation of it. Ladies and gentlemen, Creedence was from San Francisco, but that don't make a hill of beans.
My favorite John Fogerty track is Walking in a Hurricane. That is a complete jam.
John Fogerty has soul and he rocks.
Southern Rock, ya gotta love it!! Love John Fogerty & CCR!
