One of my favourites, the last of the 1600E's in colour Aubergine, it was so different! These were gorgeous cars when they were introduced and still are.
Wow. This car is in fantastic as new condition. I bought a 1970 model identical to this one in 1972 for £900 at a Ford main dealer and even though it was only two years old it was nowhere near the condition of this one. I owned mine for six years and then sold it for £700, absolutely loved it but started to fight a losing battle with rust on top of front wings and top of the front struts. Apparently it is still going but registered as SORN.
I’m ashamed to say i owned a 69 Aubergine Mk2 1600E best car ever! beautiful gearbox etc, later i had a rear engined model.. Hit a telegraph pole at around 70mph rolling the car etc and the whole engine ended up in the passengers side rear seat.. Sorry guys for letting everyone down …
Very nice 1600E ,My Dad had a 1968 red special order 2 door it’s first owner was a very big wig from fords lovely car pity it got stolen in Rayleigh Essex he only had it for 10 months, still the Lotus cortina was great to replace it. I was so impressed that I got one in 1978 wish I still had it.
i wanted one for when i grew up and left school, by that time most of these beauties were long gone and i eventually had a mk3 escort - definitely not the same !!
i used to have a 1600 but not the E . there was a 1600e owners club. mine was a very cold car and you had to have the choke out for the first couple of miles until it warmed up. that was in 1975. wow.
this car was a bit before my time and i remember all the boy racers tearing around town in these, by the time i could drive most had gone to the great highway in the sky :)
@@destroysomething13 These were bang on my time and I used to admire all the new ones driving about and visiting in my area. I considered the drivers to be extra cool with their helicopter sunglasses. I used to study their registration plates to see where all the well paid jobs were so I could get a job there and buy one! lol. By the time I was able to afford one they were starting to get old and the boy racers were doing their bit, so at that time the performance Escorts started looking very attractive! They do a full circle then you want one all over again!
My maternal grandfather had one of these cars. They were very reliable and safe.
Lovely looking car the best colour well done 👍👍
Stunning Aubergine Series2.
I had one for 7 years.fantastic car.same colour never had any mechanical issues.I think the 1600e was the best looking car ever made.
Couldn't agree more!

I wanted one of these in the 70s when I was a young man but I couldn't afford so I ended up with a Viva, not quite the same.

Whats type wheels?
Those are Rostyle wheels, original Ford items.
Some big money spent on this classic
indeed and worth every penny :)
