Aldo McAldo Last I checked we have the right to compliment other people. Unlike you, complimenting a woman does not mean I wish to 'get in her pants'.

Aldo McAldo It's people like you that give men a bad name. Go grow up and learn how to be a real man.

A couple really good products for sealing electronics are Dow Corning RTV 3145 silicon rubber and 3M EPS-300 adhesive lined heat shrink tubing.
Typical bathtub type silicon rubber contains acetic acid which will corrode electronics really quick. However Dow 3145 is alcohol based and is "mostly" non-corrosive. The EPS-300 adhesive lined heat shrink creates a great seal but its difficult to remove. So make sure you have a good design/build before applying the stuff.

Do you recommend any particular conformal coating? Where would be a good place to find it?

Another way to ruggedize connections is not to use physical connections which can wear out. Instead consider using wireless connections. Naturally this is not going to happen for power, but it might for data. XBee, bluetooth and wifi are great ways to connect different components together.

Yes I agree. But in that way we have to have 2 batteries with indivisual charging or 1 charging circuit for 2 batteries which is again a problem

I've used cable galnds (www.adafruit.com/search?q=Cable+gland) and wateproof conecters (www.adafruit.com/products/744) for projects that hung over the side of a vessel at sea, and they worked great!
