I appreciate these, I might not buy something every week/month, but it's a good way to know the first place to go when I need something I've seen and learn about things I didn't even know existed.

SUGGESTION: A mixed bag of different color small pcb test points.

Hoya may be able to get direction by using 2 photo intrrumptors being blocked in Quadrature, so if chA gets blocked before CH B, you are going clockwise and the opposite is true if CH B goes dark first.

What on earth happened to a penny-a-piece for those test pins? 😮

For the encoder wheels, all you need for direction is a second optical pickup and do quadrature decoding. You (AdaFruit) should carry the optical pickups for one-stop shopping. You probably will have them next week. ;-)

Duane Degn The fun thing that traps beginners is the two pickups don't need to be right next to each other. As long as while one is in the middle of a gap the other is in the middle of a spoke it will work. They can be nearly (or exactly with an odd number of spokes) opposite from each other, which can make mounting easier.

Duane Degn you are right. My mistake. Thanx for the correction.

Or you can keep track of direction in the computer while you send control signals to the motor to spin one direction vs the other.

Suggest test point colors, use resistor color band colors... BBROYGBV... for easy point number IDing.

Eugene Weltzer II Actually according to Lady Ada, the genesis of this is someone wanted less expensive versions of the Keystone test points. I know for a fact that the Keystone line has all 10 colors. Some of the knockoff lines don't. At Mouser where I get my Keystone test points, they are 21.6 cents each in quantities of 100. A little over double of the AdaFruit ones. If AdaFruit is able to get all 10 colors I'll probably switch vendors.

Is it safe to power a microbit using a single cell lipo battery? A cell could be at 4,2V when fully charged. The microbit supports only 3V as input.

How about red LEDs on a pair of RFID/NFC contact lenses? Wear the emitter in a hat or around the neck and with a hidden switch in the pocket or a toe switch in a shoe, make your eyes glow red for a devilish effect for a Halloween costume?

4:30 I have a name, @adafruit! 😉❤️ forums.adafruit.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=133348&p=677075#p663460 Been using these at @decaturmakers to allow children and github.com/haleyma/Arduino-On-Ramp-Class students to prototype without soldering. 6:36 When the "springiness wears out", I pull the plastic off, adjust the bend of the tips, and slide the plastic back on.
