I came back to this video after I learned of his passing . This is one of the first videos I remember of him.. I watched this so many times when I was younger . This man was a legend . Prayers to his family , and may he rest in GOD’S arms .
I grew up hearing Aaron and his Brother play.....They really came a long way....Dynamically and Speed wise.....Calvin is just........jaw dropping.......Like the Marvin Sapp recording I had almost all his songs except one on repeat......
the atmosphere is just phenomenal because of the song. and obviously the musicians. That song is just groove...grooving all day long! thank you guys. amazing video!
so much energy and soul! 5:28 if i started doing that in my church, i dont think it would go down too well... aaron spears, gerald hayward, tony royster and jo jo mayer are my favorite.
the pocket is very, very, very, important.Which is why all musicians should come ready to play in the pocket at all times and not depend so heavily on the drummer... this way no musician has to feel handicaped by less talented musicians. For what I hear ....Aaron nails it. Great drummer
LOL Calm down...I wasn't trying to argue with you..... At least we can agree Calvin paved the way for so many drummers....Did you see him play a song called "Crazy Praise" by Vashawn Mitchell? CRAZY TIMING ANTICS!!!
@lattorrence I dont know and wish I did..But he sounds like and I think he is one of the members of Gideon Band..Aaron used to play for them and thats where he got his start..They were like the MInt Condition of Gospel.
Yeah, I was actually more impressed by his "accompaniment", than the start of the show :-) He's got some ear, if he only plays by ear. His technique and choice of passing tones, is every bit as hip as Anthony Jackson's and John Patitucci(who are definitely "readers"). I think he may be the Ken Friend guy (from VA), that plays with Jamal on another UA-cam video. Sounds a lot like it :-)
I ride a Harley 05 but this is far in it's own right better. Aaron would be a 1st round draft pick if I was coaching & trying to lend some insight...awaiting...
Rest in power Aaron Spears 🕊️🕊️
