@@SevyPlays btw one thing that i saw in a video (forgot which one), is that dehya's burst seems to end early when she hits a wall like some fence or something. I cant confirm if thats true or not
There’s just so many unique problems with Dehya, it almost feels like she was an experimental character, they chucked a bunch of features on her and wanted to see what stuck.
She reminds me of how Musicians make an experimental album, it's either gonna be a hit or miss or it will grow on you in the future. This is so random but that's how I see it. I hope she gets better team in the future. 🤞
(Long message ahead, sorry) I dont think that experimental characters are bad. Kuki definitely felt that way with her sacrificing health to heal + elemental mastery scaling and all. Ofcourse this makes more sense now that Dendro was introduced. But my biggest issue with Dehya being experimental is that she feels like she doesn't fulfill any real niches, doesn't do anything really uniquely that other characters dont fill out and her numbers are lower than that of 4stars in many ways, thats my biggest issue.
@@acesword9850 kuki was never bad. Neil was confusion of over how to meld her with other characters, but I never had that problem. Wrap that lightning around a dendro or especially a pyro character, and you are off to the races. Nothing close to this situation with a mediocre character
I love the idea of her dishing out the damage she takes back to the enemy. I feel like it fits with how we've seen her fight in the story: recklessly and with little consideration of herself, but with a lot of impact. And that would truly be unique.
It would definitely give more of a benefit for your higher HP characters like... idk, Ayato? Those tankier characters that can take a beating comfortably. More damage taken, more damage done. Pop out Dehya and destroy
Literally, let others do damage in the field, they get hit, swap and she then does massive damage with her burst. Would've been so cool what were mihoyo thinking?
They missed a perfect opportunity to have a revenge DPS. If they had just added one of these two lines to her A4 passive: "In addition, the damage of Dehya's Molten Inferno and Leonine Bite are increased by 2% for every 1% HP she is missing" Or "In addition, Dehya gains a bonus to her ATK equal to 1.8% of her missing HP" She'd be much stronger. Maybe not fixed, but so much easier to consider.
instead of missing damage from max HP, just increase damage dealt based on damage taken based on % HP and cap like at 50-70% of total HP of damage This way she can heal no problem, the calculation is just the total damage taken when her skill is up and her burst will deal more damage just like how Raiden burst damage is increased based on her teammate burst usage instead of Hu Tao mechanic where she become stronger at 50% or lower HP. Like honestly even if Dehya deal twice the damage she currently dealt she will still be mid so I hope it will be like 3-4% more damage on her burst every 1% damage of her hp taken (max 50% HP aka 150-200% dmg buff) which would be fair cuz outside of abyss a lot of enemies don't deal that much anyway making proccing this effect difficult but if you do somehow manage to do that the result should be worth it. Wanderer for example get 200% burst damage bonus from his C2 if you can trigger it yet it is still not broken
@@wakuwakuwaiwai Did the numbers at the 70% threshold (which is Bennett's cutoff), the 1st proposition is a 36% damage increase, while the 2nd proposition is lower but allows for streamlining her stats even further by allowing you to just flock off with ATK subs.
@@zeromailss Oh yeah, absolutely. I wasn't going for the Zhongli fix of taking him from meh to meta, I was just thinking about how to incorporate the redirect mechanic into skill expression, which would make her *NOT TERRIBLE*. That's my problem. Her kit's disjointed. If we added cohesiveness into her base kit with a passive like this, it would make her so much more "playable".
The sad thing is there really are a lot of ways to make her okay. No one is expecting her to be the next Hu Tao all people want is a reasonable 5 star character
all people wanted her to be was another generic character that deals stupid amounts of damage so that they could coat Spiral Abyss in more of their sweat I won't deny that a rework would do her good but from what I've seen the toxicity among the meta slaves honestly outweighs the issues with Dehya entirely given by their logic since she doesn't deal millions of damage she's just plain bad
@@theunhingedgamer3762 two points to this. 1. Her damage capabilities are a legitimate point of complaint when her personal artifact set, signature weapon, and majority of her constellations are centered around it. It IS a focus in her kit, and it is inadequate. 2. The majority of the complaints about dehya are that she doesn't perform efficiently in even her defensive capabilities. EVERY defensive utility option (healer, shielder, and even other damage mitigatiors) is a better pick to build or slot in a team than her, in near every circumstance (melt ganyu/nahida being the exception and even that is hinky); having better uptime and better team synergy across the board.
Remember all, THIS IS NOT ONLY A DEHYA PROBLEM. Designing lackluster kits to be solved with constellation has been seen in other 4* characters and Dehya is the proof that they want to do that with ALL characters, so even if you're not interested in Dehya, have in mind that if we don't push against this trend your future favorite character will be like this too. For me "dealing with it" is not an option, either they fix her, or I'm not reinstalling the game.
Hoyo has favorites and cleary Dehya wasn't part of that select list. Alhathium is really damn good at C0 and he was just a patch ago. Not sure why the consistency is lacking when it comes to making functionnig kits, but at the same time not every character can be good.
Are you a regularly spending whale ? If not, you not reinstalling will have no effect on Hoyoverse, they'll just lose a bit of publicity. What need to do is another Zhongli situation, "Attack on Google Classroom Part 2: Electric Boogaloo"
I find it weird how she is the only main character from Sumeru that really doesn't seem connected to Dendro reactions. When we met her I was sure she would be a buff to burning.
She sort of is (you can now make burning teams without having to worry about your pyro source's ER, you basically just treat Dehya like a smarter Gouba), but it's a pretty niche use and exactly the sort of thing you expect from a 4*, not the most anticipated non-archon 5* since Yelan.
@@Jetsetlemming , but there is a problem, to be consistent on the burning she needs Nihida. Ok, Nilou needs her too, but Nilou made a terrible reaction viable. Burning it's still not viable, even with Dehya (even going full EM)
@@Jetsetlemming That's not really true, though I guess that's not your point. Cyno had more pre-release hype than Dehya by virtue of him being a travail trailer character and a character in the manga. Alhaitham also had more pre-release hype due to him being assumed as Nahida's familiar, and him being dubbed as Sumeru's Zhongli
She’s unique! I’m glad she wasn’t just oriented for one reaction like Nilou although baizhu is coming and he’s buffing burning to the moon so who knows.
the biggest issue with her being a damage sponge is that there are characters that mitigate or neglect a part of damage, but don't receive it later. Like Xinqiu and characters that decrease the damage of enemies around, like Beidou
The thing is that Dehya actually tanks more than them tho. She not only gives dmg reduction to the active character inside her field but she also mitigates 60% of the dmg she takes. Essentially she sponges the dmg through 2 filters basically. People have the misconception that she only just takes half the dmg of the team when that isn’t true at all. She has issues but her tanky abilities are not one of them.
@@fartyfazbear1932 Babes, characters that take dmg in Dehya’s field take half the dmg. That alone works just the same as Beidou’s and Xingqiu’s dmg reduction. the other half of the DMG goes through a Filter that takes off 40% of that dmg and the remaining 60% hits Dehya over time. Then she heals it back. She Statistically does more than Xingqiu’s protective swords. Y’all sound like parrots.
@@Blizandrio Let me see... Xingqiu has no area limitation. Xingqiu has better duration. Xingqiu neutralize the 50% damage (no need for another damage reduction or healing mechanic). Xingqiu heals your on field character.
The standard banner question is really one of the nastiest things about her release. Assuming precedent holds and she doesn't get another focus banner, Dehya fans are strangled in both directions: if you pull now, you get a crappy experimental character, but if in the future she is somehow powerful, those who skipped will not have a reliable way to get her or constellations. It really looks like they randomly put a 2nd pyro claymore on standard just to strangle Dehya fans specifically
About that, it seems that she should have been a limited character earlier on, but given her beta took place during lunar new year, most of hyv employees were in vacations, when they got back dehya had way to much issues in her kit to be fixed before her release, so they just throwed her in standard banner as a form of damage control If this is really the case they could just have said the truth, recognizing there was problems on their side and that they're working to improve her for next patch. I don't think people would be that mad about it, them recognizing errors on their side and communicating about it would've been a good point for their image I think
Spoiler She is getting an artifact set that is specifically tailored towards her in 3.6. i am facing the same dilemma on whether I should pull or not. Even if I did she isn't that good at C0 and needs C1.
@@DT2007 The artifact set you're talking about is still worse than emblem, it gives her more damage but you loose so much er you will struggle a lot to get her burst resulting in a damage loss
People mostly speak about Yelan and Xinqiu not working with her burst and while they both are the best hydro supports for the role, for me the real tragedy is that not even Candace does. What a wasted opportunity for both characters.
They should have made her burst auto target fuction like Itto's charge attacks! Itto still auto targets but you can influence the direction he swings to help consolidate AOE and make sure youre attacking the target you want to attack. There is no good reason for Dehya's burst to not allow for the same
For me, some things that would help a lot Dehya are: • Make her skill activate a coordinate attack once every 1s, like Thomas's Burst. That 2.5s is extremely awful and doesn't help at all (looks like she's not that great for reactions huh, miHoYo?) • Make her burst not being interrupted. Lock her jump button in Burst Mode, make her immune to Freeze, idk man, just don't keep her Burst so easy to break • Change her burst to normal attacks so she'll be compatible with Yelan/Xingqiu. Unless they're playing to release a Hydro that is compatible with Dehya, Vape Dehya is a complete joke... It hurts me, since I'm not a heavy meta player and I roll for the characters I really like. I don't have many 5★ because of that, but most of them, including Cyno, works. Dehya doesn't work at C0, sadly. I was so excited for her...
I agree with this, poor damage multipliers are ok if the character has high elemental application and reaction potential. Giving Dehya neither is like, wait wut?
I like the idea of her as a super tanky support that can go berserk when she ults. It fits in with her bodyguard that unleashes pain when her friends are threatened vibe. Turning damage done to her/anyone protected by her skill into a boost to her ult is also very flavorful and thematic. Kind of like a tanky, toned down pyro Raiden Shogun.
Dehya is the reason I kept playing Genshin Impact, so it's baffling she was given this kit. These kind of vids of "possible fixes" are fun but I've already made peace with knowing she will not be fixed or buffed in any way.
Anyway Genshin is not so hard of a game, so Dehya is still in most of my teams. The only place where she is really lacking is 12 floor of Abyss but that's all
@@MeowEste not a direct comparison in any way not even close but imagine being a millionaire whose son is born half paralyzed and you're desperate, only for your neighbours to say the child has enough wealth to live his full life sitting anyway. Why bother
@@MeowEste That’s not even true. She is absolutely pathetic against weekly bosses if you want to deal her real damage and not afk. She feels terrible in overworld because you never have enough energy to burst, and when you do burst, it barely kills a mitachurl and doesn’t even dent a ruin enemy.
@@undeniablySomeGuy Then... don't use her as a Main DPS. I don't. I have her in my Thoma Slot for my Burgeon Team and she works just fine. Just because you WANT her to be a Main DPS doesn't mean she IS a Main DPS. And if you try to use her as a Main DPS and she fails, that's a you problem, not a Dehya problem. That being said, there's a LOT wrong with her and she, desperately, NEEDS to be overhauled. However, that doesn't mean she's completely useless.
I love the idea of taking the damage she incurrs turning in into her own personal damage. I'd give her a passive rage/berserker state that triggers after she takes a certain amount of damage (not just for herself but her team as well) that increases her damage output or augments her skill and burst for a duration as well as granting her lifesteal to increase her tankiness and survivability further. The healing she gets from attacking wouldnt be too crazy but it'd be enough for her to reliably keep her on the field. I really wanna give players the feel that she's an absolute bruiser who doesn't hesitate to jump right into a battle when she feels the need to arises.
It would also make you actually *play* different with Dehya instead of a shielder. You would want to intentionally not dodge some attacks so you could build up Dehya's damage. Try to maximize the amount of damage you take before using her burst, a risk-reward style of play.
yeah i feel like it was intentional that they did this , maybe cuz there are alot of characters and they just wanted to make a janky standard character so they dont bother rerunning her lol , although they could just introduce triple banners…💀
They 100% made her the way she is, because they wanted to add her to the standard banner. There's an upcoming geo girl character that is rumoured to be added to the standard banner as well, i can bet if that's true, she will be even worse than Dehya. They 100% know what they are doing....... diluting the standard banner because all characters there are usable, even Qiqi has more utility than Dehya.
i honestly feel the very opposite. When you think about it, this game is designed and implemented as a mobile-first title. The menus, the interactions, the very kit designs are built to work from mobile the best way they can. Of course, not all donuts come with a hole and there are examples where the UX of something turned out bad anyways, but they're really the exceptions. Now, when you see dehya's kit, she looks like the most cursed, annoying as fuck thing to use on a mobile device, with touch controls. The idea itself of locking her into a barrage of attacks that supposedly goes faster if you tap auto attacks (tapping repeatedly is super easy to do on a mouse and on a controller, but it's to say the least ANNOYING to do on a touchscreen) feels like it was never designed with a good thought to begin with. this is why i personally don't believe in the "willing self-sabotage" theory. I can't think of any executive that would come out and think this that "testing the waters of self-sabotage" is a good idea, even if they are super wealthy economically speaking, i find it very hard to believe.
@@yuzzo92 The three teenagers in my house hate playing this game on mobile, they only play the game on PC. The game plays better on PC, even little teenagers know it... Yeah, when they design a character, they prioritize in fulfilling the expectations of CN community. So that's why they made her bad because they know CN players ain't a big fan of characters with extra melanin. She just exist to represent another character from Sumeru and it turns out the Global player expected her to be a 5-star character so they just made her lazily and throw her into a standard banner.
I really appreciate that you're doing this, I think it's the first time I'm seeing a content creator straight up putting the effort of making a video about how we need buffs for a character, and also provide options for it, it really says a lot about how weak Dehya is, cause not even Zhongli had this effect on the community, at least not to this point
Genuine question: I'm guessing you are not, by any chance, a CN player or someone who follows CN genshin community closely? Because Zhongli absolutely got demaciated. Even more than Dehya, but maybe it was so local and so early into the game's lifespan that international genshin didn't have creators like Sevy yet. To emphasize the backlash back then, I havent heard news of anyone threatening to sue hoyoverse for Dehya, like they did with Zhongli.
@@Ayzev for zl, i heard it was something like defamation (because he was the face of china etc.,) and/or false advertisement. I don't know if it ever got through, probably didn't, but it was the only moment mihoyo ever got shaken. For Dehya, you're right, there's no basis. We can accuse Hyv for colorism all we want for making Dehya weak, but at the end of the day that's just how they roll, there's no legit proof of that. It sucks, but what happens to Dehya is just a rehash of Zhongli's case, minus the fixed part. I'm glad though if this makes people more aware of hyv's questionable practices. It's just not a new level of severity like OP pointed out.
If even Sevy made a video about this, then Hoyoverse needs to give us something. They'll probably sell us these solutions as either artifact sets or characters that buff others based on damage taken or something.
Next update we are already getting a burst dmg per stack arti set that stacks from dmg taken and works off-field. But it's numerically at best a sidegrade Emblem
She probably could be fixed by have her skill infuse her attack with pyro until you explode it and make her scale more with her upgrade statt. She feels like a 4star around amber level.
Amber is similar to Dehya in the fact that she has practically no necessary teams, however Amber provides more to her teams than Dehya does. Amber should always be considered at C6. It's been available for over a year just from starglitter. Elegy of the end (one of the best support weapons) is ambers best bow for supportive capabilities. Amber with C6 and Elegy and noblesse is right up there with Bennet. (I'm not sure who is stronger since nobody has made a proper video comparison). But for the comparisons I have seen, they are extremely close. Amber with C2 is a really good Sub DPS with Baron bunnies, whilst also providing quite a bit of energy. Ambers burst is the best shield shredder in-game. Amber also has 100% uptime on her buffs. Making her an effective support Sub DPS. Melt Amber and Burgeon Amber teams are actually really good currently. (those are without her being designed as a support, and instead she is the main carry). They've cleared abyss in under a minute, and yes Amber is the one doing the most damage. Dehya doesn't have any teams she excels at, let alone all teams including dehya either have something better, or dehya isnt doing the most in those teams (mono pyro dehya is built around making dehya the main carry, yet she doesn't do the most damage in that team). Dehya has no niches except the weird ocean Hued clam afk meme, and being a melt proccer for Ganyu (which requires burning and Nahida if I'm not mistaken). Amber has more niches, things she specializes in, and she isn't the worst option in most of her special roles. She's actually pretty damn good. She's also the only character to quad vape/quad melt Xingquis skill and Chongyuns burst solo.
Thank you for making this video Sevy. I love these suggestions and would have hoped to have gotten even just one of them in the game. It’s a true shame that Hoyoverse will most likely completely ignore our complaints and criticisms as they’re just too comfortable and making too much to care if one of their characters tanks.
@Ranger!!! The game is stupid easy, no need to improve her. As she is, with the right comp, she clears all content. People keep missing the point of what this game really is. If there was true end game content then I would say Dehya current iteration would be an issue, but it's not so there is no need. She has a great design and is actually somewhat fun enough to play. Most of this game is just running around the world and killing random mobs, which one does not need Yelan level dmg to do. This community needs to come to realization that Hoyo knows this and will do enough to keep things moving along. The crying really needs to stop for as history has shown it never pans out, well expect Zhongli but that was a different time and towards the start of the game.
14:24 I believe it would be great if in her short burst she deals back the damage she took plus some or the stacking idea where, depending on how much damage she took add so many stacks per thousand damage or something but I like the fact that it’s short, because if it is only returning damage, received while off field. If you made it longer, there wouldn’t be enough time to stack up. The damage. It’s kind of like a reverse eula where Eula has to be on the field to stack up multipliers it would be cool to see dehya stack up multipliers off field. just put a timer on the stacks like 20 seconds so you can’t stack infinite stacks before you switch and deal damage. It would encourage more Face tanking. And just make all her Skillings HP based
I would like to see an added limiter of what happens when Dehya’s HP reaches a certain low amount; an example would be an AOE explosion or pyro explosion that staggers mobs giving her breathing room. She redirects the hits to herself but she knows her limits so it would fit along with her healing abilities
I really like your explanations and discussions. You kept them simple and cohesive. I really want to see Hoyoverse NOT getting way with Deyha’s poor kit design, however, we all know that’s nothing will be dressed. Creating a future artifact will not help her shortcomings. Well done Sevy 👍
Thank you Sevy. Happy channel anniversary! I wanna say i appreciate you immensely for making this video on Dehya. She was really important for a lot of us, and obviously were disappointed how hoyo did her dirty. Seeing content creators helping in our efforts, even if just discussing it like this means a lot. ❤️💙 Also lol, the teacher powerpoint/college lecture vibe
This is exactly the type of video every CC should be making rn. Everyone is frustrated with Dehya's state, but complaining alone will not help. We need to offer constructive criticism so that HYV understands what went wrong and with the suggestions maybe they'll implement something faster.
"Faster", as if they intend to implement anything at all. We are at conflict with their interests here. Although we can only guess what those actually are.
Thank you for making a video on this, she was one of my most excited character since Sumeru released and her kit is very underwhelming and her gameplay could be so much more fun with some small optimizations, bugfixes and buffs.
Character design and development takes a lot of time and the planning goes a long way back from the release date. My theory is hoyo always had dehya as a 4 star character in mind and moulded her like that, but due to recent hype around dehya in sumeru main quest they decided on making her a 5 star(capitalise) meanwhile also adding her to standard banner knowing how hype will fall after release and due to her 4 star like traits.
Kinda doubt: Sumeru August Characters introduction video only showed characters who are now 5stars. And there was Dehya too. So i think they planned her to be 5star.
The interesting thing about putting her on standard is that guarantees that there will be a persistent group of people receiving Dehya- either people who wanted her previously, or those who did not. She can't be swept under the rug, because people are going to keep pulling her. Genshin's never going to live this down, and we're never going to forget. What's a better way to spur people away from gacha than making them love a character that's basically unplayable? And constantly remind them of the time they were excited for this character, and then Hoyoverse dropped the ball?
Yess the thing i noticed with her burst is that it's one animation and not actually something like a Raiden or an Itto burst. Basically the entire 4 second window is an animation itself for the whole 4 seconds, while Raiden's burst animation ends the moment she pulls her sword out, and lateron depends on Raiden's normal attacks. While for dehya, her burst itself is a 4 second animation and not a normal attack. You can see this for yourself if you do not touch your keyboard, she'll still do her said attacks, because that whole attack sequence is an animation and not her doing normal attacks Which is cuncurrenly means that it works like every other animation in the game, and so gets jump canceled. Its also why she cannot proc yelan or xingqui because she isn't doing a normal attack she's just in her animation state. Personally I think its so useless to do that like just make her burst something like raiden, so we can choose our own NA combos and she can proc xingqui yelan while not getting frozen.
13:15 just like Yang in RWBY. The more damage she received, the stronger she attacks. Fierce lion punches! I want her elemental skill just like Raiden's e. The difference is Dehya's e has limited area while Raiden's e follows the team. Also, once Dehya's e expires it will explode.
When they presents dehya for the first time, i thought she would be like a dark knight from final fantasy. The damage absorb by her elemental skill could retaliate with a huge amount like the sacrifice attack, once dehya come back to battle field
I love all the fixes! I do have one extra thing tho, specifically for burgeon- make her coordinated attacks either have an aoe, or always hit close to the ground, in addition to attacking every 1.5 secs instead of 2.5. That is because, as she is now, sometimes her attacks won’t even hit the dendro cores bc the enemies’ hitbox is simply too high! That’s what’s happening in the current abyss, and it’s so sad 😭
Thanks for making this because i really hope Mihoyo is getting the point. Even though ive been having fun w/ Dehya on the "mono" pyro team she really needs a bunch of tweaks balance and QofL wise that are all summed up nicely here. Heres hoping we get even some sort of adjustment to get her in a better state
There's no getting the point with Mhy what we need for them to get the point is to give them the 1st anniversary award treatment but most of the players are fine with it anyways so meh who cares
I really like the suggestions for the support-oriented kit and genuinely think a kit like that would bring a lot of variety not only for the standard banner but also for the Pyro element itself. I think the built-in C2 + her coordinated attack happening every 1.5s instead of 2.5s would already make her a much much MUCH better character--even if we don't fix the other defensive aspects regarding the clunky soaking mechanic. One thing that you didn't mention that I would also love would be for us to be able to end her burst earlier--like, if you press E mid burst she immediately executes that flying kick and puts her field back. This way I think she would feel like a 5* Pyro Fischl that has 2 different ways to reposition her skill.
The only real reason why so many people don't like her gettting buffed. They just like meta characters, which isn't wrong really and they don't want to miss out buffed stuff
@@Aceleo209 dude no, dehya's kit is just that bad, her role can be filled by literally any shielder, most of them even better. It would've been better if she was meta, I mean it's been a while since a pyro 5 star came out, and she turned out like this.
@@Aceleo209 No, the issue is that we are sold a 3* characters as if it's a 5* and said character is going to waste our 50/50 from 3.6. Even losing to QiQi will feel a blessing, because at least QiQi fullfills the healer role well, while Dehya, SADLY fullfills no role. Even Noelle fullfills the tanker role better, better DPS output and heals the whole team without losing the burst if swapping out...and is a 4*. The issue is not the meta. The issue is being given a faulty product.
Thanks for the open discussion! I strongly agree on the poise effect duration to be integrated with the circle field duration. I also have few inputs to share in the fixing: For her defensive role, I think that if her defense stats (and possibly physical dmg res too) is also factored in the HP drain of Dehya when the mitigation happens, she could survive a bit longer and maintain a good amount of HP left while off-field. In her offensive role, I think an energy refund after her burst ends would be nice too. She gets more energy if the burst is used and she retrieved her circle field.
Looking at the timing of the skill and the burst that pauses the skills timer, I really hope that they lower her burst cost or at least better particle generation. At least with you can guarantee that her burst is always up. Right now unless you run Bennett to battery Dehya or run favonius it's kinda hit or miss when you can burst with her without sacrificing too much damage stats.
Great video, and it's really nice to see you include the one specific suggestion I had, which was to actually have the damage she takes on result in a stacking damage buff. It really feels not only good mechanically but also feels like it fits her character as a mercenary/protector/bodyguard
I love Dehya's burst so much aesthetically and as the concept, hope Hoyo wouldn't change it 's duration and animation aspects even if they really decide to change her kit.
they should really maker her burst replace normal attacks instead of being ''auto mode''. Basicalle while in burst mode Normal attack = punches - Elemental = kicks (with 2 or 3 second cooldown)
The only way I can think of buffing her is either lower her E downtime to Albedo levels of spamability or whenever she uses her bursts her theme plays, thats it
The only thing I want in her kit is very simple Fix the bugs (must and SHOULD be done) Give her higher multipliers. Her kit burst every thing is unique. She may be like shenhe who will shine only in mono Pyro. Just give her higher multipliers.
If so she should have had unique Pyro debuffs on targets allowing others to hit harder, or a buff to dendro reactions, like allowing burning to stack or more burgeon cores to effect more targets, etc.
Classic Mihoyo moves: They give you the problem and then sell you the solution 😂 I was so excited for her, thinking that she'll be paired with Candace .The only good thing I can even think on her kit is her interruption resistance ffs P.S. Guys you know what to do when the survey comes
It is important to talk about problems in game design of charecters, thanks for doing it! That's a shame that mihoyo never rebalance their charecters like other gachas doing
So this is something that I have noticed quite often with the release of "Support Characters" why is it that every single support needs to do higher damage & work with X & Y, meanwhile we had: - 2.1. Kokomi who was bashed for low Multipliers, couldn't crit, but works well with Xingqui before and after Hydro Resonance change. Her "Artifact Set" & Corrosion was introduced 2 patches later to emphasize on bringing a healer against corrosion instead of shield teams who got ran over by Corrosion. - 2.4. Shenhe got compared to Ganyu & Ayaka in terms of damage, when she was meant to actually boost set Cryo DPS, yet people wanted to use her with Chongyun to make her able to be a Main DPS cryo. - 3.1. Nilou as a Bloom DPS gets compared to Ayato & Tartaglia in terms of damage multipliers. When she was meant for a whole new kind of "niche team" outside of Hyperbloom which was the dominant bloom version. Now we have Dehya. Who is clearly a burgeon trigger, not supposed to be on-field for the most time, unless you have her C4 for healing herself even further. If we look at who she competes with in that regard it is currently Thoma & Xiangling. So if we take replace Xiangling so that we can use her in National or Vape teams where she actually performs better. Now the question remains what is best Burgeon or Hyperbloom?
Sevy is one of the most known educational content creators in the community. If she makes a 2nd video about a character being awful, MHY should listen cuz a LOT of people are gonna see this and be more educated on the issues. As we all know, Sevy has lots of I-Dehyas. Get it? Like Ideas? I-Dehyas?
Support Dehya Elemental skill: 1) 100% uptime, make base skill duration much more longer (ex: Layla Skill). 2) Skill circle follow the active character (ex: Gorou Burst, Barbara Skill, Kuki Shinobu Skill, Kaeya Skill) and at certain constellation, the circle can be activated to nearby character (ex:Zhongli Burst give shield to nearby character). 3) Active character are immune to any type of interruption like electro-charge and frozen, they still take damage but not stutter or anything.
26:00 a FANTASTIC idea. i love the idea of a tank that absorbs and reflects that damage back at her enemies. it fits well with her identity and backstory as well
I think any chance for character “fixes” is wishful thinking. It will be interesting to see where she stands 7-8 months from now after Fontaine has been released. She’s a support and we could very well be looking at another Kuki whose kit looked underwhelming at first but made sense later in the future.
Not the same problem. Kuki looked underwhelming only to Meta players, but she was solid enough and already had her uses. Dehya is literally broken, her kit has objective problems which hold her back. Specific characters, weapons and artifacts cannot fix her problems.
@@bloody4558 Dehya's kit revolves around taking damage and HP. Hydro characters have always had an emphasis on HP and healing. Imagine a character like Ocean Hued Clam on steroids or an artifact which buffs damage based off how much HP was lost. Her kit looks irredeemable now but it is unique. No other character has a kit focused around intentionally taking damage. Time will tell if she is truly unfixable.
I mean they fixed Zhongli and even if they reverted back the changes they still tried fixing Yae Miko (which iirc not as big of an issue compared to players feedback of Dehya rn.) And we can always use our "1st year anniversary incident" card. And as Sevy said in the video her role is unclear. The concept of her supportive aspect is really great and is a nice addition to characters that can sustain themselves like Hu Tao but poorly executed by making such questionable decisions.
@@toolazytoholdagrudge1148 Yae's case was pretty much a joke, people complaining about literally nothing, resulting in a totally uneeded change. Yae even hits in a bit of an AOE, sot it was even less of a problem. Meanwhile Fischl only hits single targets and people praise her to high heavens, even though when Oz starts focusing on objects, it results in an even bigger problem than Yae ever had to face
@@toolazytoholdagrudge1148 I think the fact that Zhongli was the only character who got directly buffed just goes to show how rare it is for Mihoyo to buff characters in the first place (not to mention he was one of the first limited characters, an Archon, and has heavy ties to fictional China). I don't think it's impossible that Dehya gets buffed, just highly unlikely.
An approach could be that she gets a passive that changes depending on the reaction that she comes into contact with, i.e. a burgeon, would make her and her team ignore burgeon damage for 3 seconds, bloom would increase EM, etc.
Good overview of her issues and potential improvements. I hope HoYo is willing to give her some buffs. Technically they could leave her as bad as she is and it wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would be a bit sad and may be a worrying sign of how they plan to treat future characters if not given enough pushback.
I feel like it wasn't they wanted her to be bad, like some people are claiming. They wanted to try things and they didn't pan out. They put that burden on Dehya because they knew the character had a following already and that people would bite the bullet and pull her anyways. If a 4 star character had had that kit, like Kaveh, people would have declared them bad and skipped over them without fanfare. Remember Dori? Everyone agrees she's not good but there was no strong backlash over it. People just went "Unfortunate, welp." I feel her burst is broken in so many ways because they wanted to try something that didn't mesh well with normal attack, that being the dynamic attack speed from mashing the button? But the way it's implemented just breaks. It limits how much other characters the burst interacts with quite devastatingly (Not even Candace's burst works with her and they're like desert buddies), it gets cancel by janky animation logic, and the targetting is actually bugged and will sometimes target environment elements rather than enemies. Her burst is a total mess and I personally feel it stems from what they tried to do with it being a rapid fire thing instead of just changing her normal attacks like.. so many other characters work correctly with. As many have stated the 2.5s delay on the Coordinated attacks feels really slow, especially since a random burning enemy on the other side of the field could trigger it rather than the bunch of grouped enemies you're targeting actively, essentialy wasting that AoE blast. Her normal attacks are too weak to justifiably space the procs so far appart, like her multipliers are objectively low for a claymore. They won't and can't rework Constellations, but it would have been better IMO if C1 was just built-in. current C2 was C1 and C2 was instead that Dehya procs the coordinated attacks on everyof her own Normal Attacks in the field. That would have been a substantial increase in her own damage which is more typical of 5 star C2s we normally see. But her attacks being the trigger also doesn't work with the current way the effect triggers. Though personally, I wouldn't want that to be a constellation at all. Changing it to 1s like many have suggested achieves mostly the same thing, but has the added benefit of working even when Dehya is off the field. The fact she has a suplemental interuption resistance buff on 9s of a 12s uptime is so bizarre too. It would be very easy to make it "make sense" by having the 9s restart whenever she relocates the field with a second use of the skill. Timing it right in the middle would align perfectly with the 18s uptime that her C2 can give you. The numbers feel like they were meant to align this way, so it's puzzling that they do not. Then there's the burst which... like. It's so janky. It really should just have worked like every other similar bursts that override normal attacks. It would fix the targetting, the animation and burst being cancelled by jumps and collisions, as well as its ability synergize with other characters's own bursts of effects. It's like the Burst was intended to be a tradeoff mechanically, but nothing was gained in return. Also, at the risk of taking more damage, you could get around the "Frozen" interruption by just making Dehya Pyro-affected. That way only melts or vaporizes would proc against her during her burst instead of Frozen which kills it entirely. Taking damage is her whole schtick so I'd be okay with that. It's not like the game is very Hard, I have a C1 Dehya and she feels fine, numbers wise. On the low side but things still die relatively quickly when the whole party's involved, so whatever. But her kit itself is so bizzare. It's not things that seem like it'll all make sense later, like with EM scaling Electro units of the past year suddenly "clicking" much better with the introduction of Dendro. Short of an Hydro character who works similar to Raiden's skill, proccing on DMG applied and not NAs, the burst is super limited which sucks in a team-building oriented game. I once again want to say I believe Dehya was used as an experimental sacrificial lamb because they knew the design and character appeal alone would carry her well enough through this. They wouldn't have tried that with Baizhu or Kaveh or even Mika because people would have skipped them much more easily and then forgotten about it, like we've seen with Dori not that long ago. Anyways, thanks for reading through my ramblings. I think Dehya plays okay in the game, since the game is not very demanding to begin with. But it's a shame to see a character wasted with broken design so much. I want to make it clear I don't believe Dehya has a number issue, personally, her kit just feels like it has been poorly thought out and limits her enjoyable team building options in meaningless ways.
These are all great ideas. I'm 100% with all your ideas, save my ideas on her E pulses and burgeon support. I also agree that her various kit timers should be simplified... poise throughout the E (and her burst just for her). I like her mitigation concept but it needs her built in reduction full time. Amd the c4 healing passive should be full time. I also love your idea of her burst having a built in revenge mechanic, that damage taken makes her burst hit harder. With all these ideas implemented, honestly her scaling ceases to be an issue because her reactions and protection and burst would all have "in concept" ways to make up the dps loss due to her scaling.
You could write a whole curriculum for a "what a game programmer shouldn't do" course and include an entire unit/chapter just about Dehya alone. Each lesson is about one broken part of her kit.
tbh your presentation skills are so good than professors and even dehya kit. I was concentrated throughout the whole video and for the video i completely agree with your ideas. it is really good job doing this and hope hoyoverse realize this and at least fix it somehow
I want a support/tank oriented Dehya, I pulled for her cause I like her. I hope they extend the "infinite" resistance duration cause I really liked when my characters aren't thrown away by hits. Shield bot Zhongli still breaks from the consecrated beasts
Just triple her dmg. Easiest way to fix her. Wouldn't make her broken by any means but she'd have a role on your team as a pretty decent, but a bit clunky, burst-dps with some support capabilities. There's a lot that can be fixed with Dehya because she currently doesn't do anything even at a decent level. She just ranges from kind of bad to really bad or just nonexistent. There's really not much that can be changed that would make her much worse when she's already basically unusable at c0. Like Qiqi at least fulfills all of your healing needs. That also reduces the need for shields, dmg mitigation, etc. Dehya doesn't adequately fulfill a single role on a team be it energy, recharge, tanking, dmg, burst support, sub dps, elemental application, healing, buffing, etc. She's pyro as well so she can't even be carried by hyperbloom like all of the dendro, hydro, and electro characters can. Characters like Cyno and Alhaitham aren't really that good, individually, per se but they can easily clear everything by just abusing hyperblooms. Dehya would be significantly worse but she could be carried by teammates and the reaction dmg if she was one of those three elements. Cyno doesn't really do anything better than anyone else either. He just doesn't suck and he can abuse one of, if not the most, broken reactions in the game. Expensive burst cost as well and no huge nukes. Cyno's full burst uptime is kind of pointlessly long but there is such a thing as too short. Dehya's 4 seconds of kind of decent sustained dps is too short.
Things I want for her. [C0] > Reduced Skill CD a bit > Reduced energy needed for Burst > Burst when pressed it will skip the Flame-mane Fist and instead canceling the burst.. it will perform to the next move which is Incineration Dive. > Since her highlight skill is resistance to interruption , I want her to activate a buff when she gets damage while interruption is still active. > Rework her Skill/Burst damage [ATK + MAX HP] to Just [MAX HP] , [MAX HP] for mitigation / resistance to interruption.. this is really weird because we don't even have artifact that has double stats on a single option. focusing on 2 stats ATK and MAX HP is really a terrible idea. > Rework her signature weapon to be HP based or Elemental damage Her damage is so bad without a buff and without other team to trigger a reaction.
This is a very well-compiled video. The two things I have been saying to my friends that I'd like to see changed are the Golden Forged passive lasting the entire duration of her skill and her Burst receiving a damage increase when you pick up the Skill field with it. Since you lose the coordinated attack, it would be much more cohesive if picking it up with the Burst meant it modified the Burst damage somehow (such as a scaling pyro damage % increase based on the amount of damage taken within the field up to the point you pick it up with your Burst, or perhaps just a flat multiplier increase, similar to the way we see Yae Miko's totems empowered dynamically based on the number of totems in proximity to each other). The low multipliers, the slow tick rate, the jump cancelling, and even the janky auto-targeting are all things I can tolerate and get used to. The poise passive ending 3 seconds before the Skill ends (or NINE seconds with C2...) is absurd to me, though. It's so counterintuitive in actual gameplay, especially without any noticeable or effective visual indicator to let you know when those 9 seconds of infinite poise expire. Anyway, excellent video. I think you did very well with adhering to the outlined objectives you presented at the beginning of the video. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas!
I feel like Hoyoverse just wants us to do something different for a change. We have used Xingqiu, Bennett and Xiangling everyday since day one. Maybe they just want us to build more experimental teams. You can kind of already see that with all the HP-scaling characters nowadays not needing Bennett anymore. I feel like back in the day, Hoyoverse didn't realise how OP these characters were and now they are afraid to nerf them. It's similar with shields. We have a good amount of shielders but also get more enemies that can still hurt us even if we have them.
@@JackieBlade1 true I meant more for a general scenario. Teambuilding has become a bit boring, because the team itself doesn't change, rather just one or two characters.
@@ricokarev3410 No offense meant, but a lot of us have been doing more experimental teams for fun from the beginning. If players are getting bored with the same two abyss comps, that's their own fault. There are a lot of extremely fun non-optimal team comps and builds that can still clear the Abyss, and more powerful teams that can hold their own against the most-used comps but are repeatedly ignored. Nilou Bloom teams are quite fun and also feel quite broken. Sukokomon is perhaps the best example of a joke-themed team that is very easy to use and can hold its own against the strongest meta teams at the time. Try Thoma, Yae, & Yun Jin, you might be surprised (the fourth character doesn't matter). Add back in XQ if you want it to be unfair.
@@ryllharu No offense taken. I just generally see people use the same Team over and over again. But maybe it has something to do with the people I personally see in coop. To your other point I actually use Nilou myself and I unfortunately don't have Kokomi for Sukokomon otherwise I would actually like to use that (if you have any ideas for substitutes, I would love to hear it). Third Option also sounds interesting. It might sound wierd but I'm the kind of guy that plays wierd myself. I for example don't have and don't care about pulling for Zhongli, Venti or Kazuha. I have a C6 Xingqiu that I don't use and a Bennett that is barely "build" (if you can even call it that). But if you have any other fun Team comps, I would love to hear it (sorry for my english, I am not a native speaker).
On the topic of burst duration: The simple solution is to have the jump cancel that is in place actually baked into the kit. When you jump out of her burst it forces the incineration drive kick to happen and drop the skill field down. It would actually give a sort of animation coming directly out of the freeze as well that would actually be kind of cool. ----- A unique concept that I feel like they are likely to play off of soon: Dehya is the only character to get an alternate skill during her burst. There is the additional fact there is no cooldown on you mashing it. I was hoping the artifact set would play off of it but instead it seems we are getting a useless set. This could be an alternate to increase the bursts damage without actually scaling off of her ingested damage that still kind of fits the character. I am figuring hoyo had originally planned on dehya using her ingested damage but it was found to be too situational and finicky to actually feel good. On the topic of her skill: There is actually an argument to be made to keep the interval slow. In particular because she appears to be focused on working around melt/vape not dendro reactions. The damage doesn't particularly support it right now but that could be fixed. An easy solution to the burgeon proc completion that would actually be very cool is that if the coordinated attack is proced rather than it be an AOE on the enemy it actually explodes from the pillar in her field like a large explosion to cover the whole area. It would actually support her skill scalings and delay for a reason. Even if it is not relevant yet it would cover a unique issue that could come up in the future of many small enemies that we need AOE to deal with. Edit 1: On the topic of her burst part 2: A unique use case for her burst they could implement would be if you switch off of her during her burst she will actually stay on field and keep going while you are controlling the character you switched to. It would explain why you would need to jump out of it instead of switch. Edit 2: on the topic of her skill part 2: If her skill actually built up stacks of procs over time instead of just being a cooldown would be particularly interesting. This would allow her to backload a lot of procs if you want to jankily setup for a few burgeon procs very quickly. I don't think this is particularly important or good but would be very interesting. Her skill REALLY needs to generate particles on cast and not from the coordinated attacks. Raiden doing so made sense, but dehya isn't setup/supposed to battery other pyro characters. Especially since she is the energy hungry one. Edit 3: on the topic of energy generation: One of the most interesting ideas I personally have is that she actually doesn't run off of energy particles. Rather her burst charges off of the damage mitigated and once her redmane reaches 100% of her HP she can use her burst but if you let it overcharge it increases her damage by that same amount above as an end value % increase to her burst. This would effectively be a berserker state and mesh with everything extremely well. It would mean her rotations are non existent but I personally find it a fascinating concept.
I was thinking of well a couple of different buffs which is just: Better multipliers As well as better pyro aplication And to gain bonus damage if you place her elemental skill but the reposition not the first time you aply it when she uses her burst and takes away her elemetal skill if you use your burst and then the elemental skill she will not gain that bonus damage something like that will make her more of a burst DPS or something like that idk these are just some random ideas imma throw here great video btw
I wish she got some traits of classic tanks in other games : 1) Taunt for crowd gathering that can also provide bosses. 2) Damage absorbed gets released in AOE damage after absorbing a certain amount. In this case , she should do it off field as well. 3) Or instead of damage absorption and then released, she could just straight up get damage reflection. 4) Damage Taken buffs her and/or her team so she/her team can deal more damage. 5) Stun/sleep/slow abilities.
Professional af video 🤓👍 No lie I went from playing genshin almost everyday since release, to almost not playing at all in the week. I have been so excited for her since her first appearance and keeping in mind that she's a mercenary, I was hoping she would be very good in combat. As my brother puts it: Dehya feels stretched thin. My obsession/attention is finally somewhere else in another game. The controversy with Dehya is just not what I hoped for, and I might just be done with Genshin altogether which is a shame because it has excellent combat compared to other games, but it feels neglected by now.
I originally wanted her, even after hearing about how bad her numbers are, because I can already clear the abyss with a lot of team combinations I have. What I was looking for was a fun playstyle and it looked like her Burst was fun on her demo. The day she was released, I tried her and actually found her Burst fun. I then did a couple of pulls, didn't get her yet. It took a couple of trying her, (in a span of a few days ) and the fun quickly wore off. Her burst is just about spamming the left click. (It doesn't help that you literally can't do anything else during her Burst period, no skills or charged attack is available.) Combine that with the knowledge that she'll be on standard, made me retract from pulling her.
100% agree with everything you said. I like the hybrid, jack of all trades bruiser concept but I also feel that Dehya ends up not doing anything in particular that well. Another fix would be that her Skill should hit higher so it can reach giant enemies with higher hitboxes (like Albedo’s Skill).
I like the burst idea where it's a stance but I thought of something where she can proc the burst like a stance at any time but it would tick her energy which can make her high energy needs more viable.
While watching this video, I couldn’t help but wonder if hoyo did the same thing they did with faruzan. Basically hiding essential parts of Dehay’s kit behind constellations.
Thanks for helping spread the word Sevy. You did a good job explaining her flaws as well as explaining how those flaws might affect us in real gameplay scenarios. But just as a reminder that while it may seem hopeless, the odds of them giving Dehya a rework are never zero. They've made adjustments to characters in the past post release (no, not just zhongli) due to overwhelming feedback. If you are genuinely sad about how dysfunctional Dehya is you should direct your frustrations toward the people that can actually do something about it. "Wasting" a couple minutes to write a feedback about her is much better than laying down and accepting her in this state
i love the idea of making a new character that substitutes xq, i can imagine an alternative such a hydro application with burst or elemental skills, imagine that with ningguang, after every gem you could do crystalize rx or with the new baizhu, do blooms at the distance.
If we look at Carole from Honkai impact 3rd she is a shield breaking unit who has a unique ability wherein another party member can switch in while her burst is active and in doing so they gain a buff from Carole which boost their attack and crit (correct me if i am wrong) she also has something called Armor shredder which helps her charged attack do much more damage and stacks up to 3 times So using her as an outline for Dehya we have a DPS who gains a stack of “Flame mane’s protection” stacking up to 3-5 times which increases Dehya’s damage but also has some supportive abilities where she can lower enemies defense, in order to trigger the effect Dehya would have to be in her circle and take damage from external forces (which can also be bloom explosions)which converts that into her stack which boosts her ult by 100%-500% plus an additional 55% from the damage she’s taken which also has been converted. Her allies gain a special buff when they switch during her burst which gives them damage reduction and a 20% defense shred MAX. And there we go a dps, supprt hybrid with buffing and a bit of defensive capabilities
On the mitigation front I would make it that 100% of the damage is prevented to the on-fielder and ranks in the skill merely reduce how much gets added to the redmane stack (100% at rank 1, going down to 40% or whatnot at rank 10). Keeps it simple, removes the need for a healer and doesn't make it half-assed like anything less than 100% would be.
I'm imagining her burst being a 1-hit nuke like you mentioned, and just seeing in front of me the absolute satisfaction of seeing a huge explosion with her punch. Damn I would love that rework.
For her burst, I'd like add to the Jump cancelling to do an uppercut (and possibly create a new field). It'll deal 75% of the damage of the Dive Kick but the Dive Kick should get buffed in damage. Alternatively (and this is just fueling my Jojos fantasy), increase the duration (7 or 8 secs) just to have more punching uptime, the Dive Kick is built as the jump cancelling animation to end the burst, and the last part is like some mega punch.

There’s just so many unique problems with Dehya, it almost feels like she was an experimental character, they chucked a bunch of features on her and wanted to see what stuck.
Dehya is bad just because of her skin color, the Chinese are very racist, that is well known.
She reminds me of how Musicians make an experimental album, it's either gonna be a hit or miss or it will grow on you in the future. This is so random but that's how I see it. I hope she gets better team in the future. 🤞
i loved her demo, a great character and fun to play
without a single reason to use/build her
(Long message ahead, sorry)
I dont think that experimental characters are bad.
This would have opened up a new playstyle and line of characters.

More damage taken, more damage done. Pop out Dehya and destroy
I love the idea of her doing more dmg based on the damage she takes
Literally, let others do damage in the field, they get hit, swap and she then does massive damage with her burst. Would've been so cool what were mihoyo thinking?
That also works great with Burning and Burgeon(both deal self damage)
So Hu Tao ?
@@NTDang Kinda? But without a defensive teammates, Hutao can't take damage, while Dehya is the defensive one.
Seriously, let berserker dehya be a thing
They missed a perfect opportunity to have a revenge DPS.
If they had just added one of these two lines to her A4 passive:
"In addition, the damage of Dehya's Molten Inferno and Leonine Bite are increased by 2% for every 1% HP she is missing"
Or
"In addition, Dehya gains a bonus to her ATK equal to 1.8% of her missing HP"
She'd be much stronger. Maybe not fixed, but so much easier to consider.
her passive self heal may make this difficult to manage
@@wakuwakuwaiwai Maybe have it be based on pre-mitigated damage taken during her skill?
instead of missing damage from max HP, just increase damage dealt based on damage taken based on % HP and cap like at 50-70% of total HP of damage
This way she can heal no problem, the calculation is just the total damage taken when her skill is up and her burst will deal more damage just like how Raiden burst damage is increased based on her teammate burst usage instead of Hu Tao mechanic where she become stronger at 50% or lower HP.
No one is expecting her to be the next Hu Tao all people want is a reasonable 5 star character
yeah cuz she has such a good design and story.
all people wanted her to be was another generic character that deals stupid amounts of damage so that they could coat Spiral Abyss in more of their sweat
I won't deny that a rework would do her good but from what I've seen the toxicity among the meta slaves honestly outweighs the issues with Dehya entirely given by their logic since she doesn't deal millions of damage she's just plain bad

I find it weird how she is the only main character from Sumeru that really doesn't seem connected to Dendro reactions. When we met her I was sure she would be a buff to burning.
She sort of is (you can now make burning teams without having to worry about your pyro source's ER, you basically just treat Dehya like a smarter Gouba), but it's a pretty niche use and exactly the sort of thing you expect from a 4*, not the most anticipated non-archon 5* since Yelan.

the biggest issue with her being a damage sponge is that there are characters that mitigate or neglect a part of damage, but don't receive it later.
@@Blizandrio While Xingqiu reduces dmg but half and instead of taking 60% of it he deletes it
@@Blizandrio yeah but she provides no healing for the team ANDDD her interruption res is not 100%
@@fartyfazbear1932 Babes, characters that take dmg in Dehya’s field take half the dmg.
About that, it seems that she should have been a limited character earlier on, but given her beta took place during lunar new year, most of hyv employees were in vacations, when they got back dehya had way to much issues in her kit to be fixed before her release, so they just throwed her in standard banner as a form of damage control
If this is really the case they could just have said the truth, recognizing there was problems on their side and that they're working to improve her for next patch. I don't think people would be that mad about it, them recognizing errors on their side and communicating about it would've been a good point for their image I think
@@zartoru_ Unfortunately corporations are adamant about staying out of touch with their customers outside of marketing
I think this is an experiment, and they must want to know from big data how players face this dilemma.
Spoiler
She is getting an artifact set that is specifically tailored towards her in 3.6. i am facing the same dilemma on whether I should pull or not.
Candace works a small amount better than those two but I'm with you , I was really hoping they'd work together given their relationship in game. SAD
the reason they dont work with her, is because her burst is an actual burst (not like pyro infusion) which doesn’t proc yelan and xq burst
They should have made her burst auto target fuction like Itto's charge attacks! Itto still auto targets but you can influence the direction he swings to help consolidate AOE and make sure youre attacking the target you want to attack. There is no good reason for Dehya's burst to not allow for the same
For me, some things that would help a lot Dehya are:
• Make her skill activate a coordinate attack once every 1s, like Thomas's Burst. That 2.5s is extremely awful and doesn't help at all (looks like she's not that great for reactions huh, miHoYo?)
• Make her burst not being interrupted. Lock her jump button in Burst Mode, make her immune to Freeze, idk man, just don't keep her Burst so easy to break
• Change her burst to normal attacks so she'll be compatible with Yelan/Xingqiu.
Going from 2.5s to 1s would be like the best buff for her. I just want her to be viable for Burgeon teams so much...
Also make her resistance to interruption longer and can't be cancelled while casting
@@dylanfallon6720 you Will have a problema with tall enemies jajaja
Also increase her burst damage based of the mitigation damage she receive
I agree with this, poor damage multipliers are ok if the character has high elemental application and reaction potential. Giving Dehya neither is like, wait wut?
I like the idea of her as a super tanky support that can go berserk when she ults. It fits in with her bodyguard that unleashes pain when her friends are threatened vibe. Turning damage done to her/anyone protected by her skill into a boost to her ult is also very flavorful and thematic. Kind of like a tanky, toned down pyro Raiden Shogun.
Thanks Sevy for your support on taking stand for fixing Dehya. Making these videos will gives more impact on Hoyoverse. Hope they listens to our pain.

@@ForeverDegenerate Being able to kil la mitachurl is not even a carry privilege. LET HER WORK WITH ANYTHING OMFG

Honestly I feel like they 100% wanted her to be bad. They have a whole team on these things
yeah i feel like it was intentional that they did this , maybe cuz there are alot of characters and they just wanted to make a janky standard character so they dont bother rerunning her lol , although they could just introduce triple banners…💀

@@tsunohansuu What basis for a lawsuit was there though? That sounds too silly to be something HoYo would feel threatened by.
If both Zyox and Sevy are saying Dehya is a problem, then she really is.
finally a popular content creator that adressed this topic
She probably could be fixed by have her skill infuse her attack with pyro until you explode it and make her scale more with her upgrade statt. She feels like a 4star around amber level.
Amber has one niche team where SHE is required

Granted i think she needs c6 but still
@@sorashiro7611 she needs c6+elegy
@@Boricosa not rlly

This is exactly the type of video every CC should be making rn. Everyone is frustrated with Dehya's state, but complaining alone will not help. We need to offer constructive criticism so that HYV understands what went wrong and with the suggestions maybe they'll implement something faster.

Thank you for making a video on this, she was one of my most excited character since Sumeru released and her kit is very underwhelming and her gameplay could be so much more fun with some small optimizations, bugfixes and buffs.
Sevy has entered the teacher arc.
🤣🤣
Character design and development takes a lot of time and the planning goes a long way back from the release date.
My theory is hoyo always had dehya as a 4 star character in mind and moulded her like that, but due to recent hype around dehya in sumeru main quest they decided on making her a 5 star(capitalise) meanwhile also adding her to standard banner knowing how hype will fall after release and due to her 4 star like traits.
Doesnt it take a long time to make the character quests though?
Great presentation! Only thing I think could be missing is Constellation ideas to replace the ones that should already be built into her kit.
You can see this for yourself if you do not touch your keyboard, she'll still do her said attacks, because that whole attack sequence is an animation and not her doing normal attacks
Which is cuncurrenly means that it works like every other animation in the game, and so gets jump canceled.
Honestly that would’ve been amazing and I’m line with Dehya’s personality! Huge missed opportunity
Imagine Dehya getting buff in future but she will not come in banner instead standard or lost ur 50/50
Better that way than a character with an identity problem who you don't need now and very likely never will.
@@Aceleo209 No, the issue is that we are sold a 3* characters as if it's a 5* and said character is going to waste our 50/50 from 3.6. 15:24 : another suggested fix would be if she jump cancels her Burst her ER will be refunded based on the remaining time left of her burst
Finally big and international streamers talking about FIX DEHYA, congratulations Sevy.
Thanks for the open discussion!
I strongly agree on the poise effect duration to be integrated with the circle field duration. I also have few inputs to share in the fixing:
For her defensive role, I think that if her defense stats (and possibly physical dmg res too) is also factored in the HP drain of Dehya when the mitigation happens, she could survive a bit longer and maintain a good amount of HP left while off-field.

This is such a great presentation, good job! Also these are clear ideas we can all submit to feedback to them !!!!
The only way I can think of buffing her is either lower her E downtime to Albedo levels of spamability or whenever she uses her bursts her theme plays, thats it
omg the canva presentation is really giving teacher vibes~~
The only thing I want in her kit is very simple
Fix the bugs (must and SHOULD be done)
Give her higher multipliers.
Classic Mihoyo moves: They give you the problem and then sell you the solution 😂 I was so excited for her, thinking that she'll be paired with Candace .The only good thing I can even think on her kit is her interruption resistance ffs
P.S. Guys you know what to do when the survey comes

Imma be honest, of all the CCs, I didn't expect you to make this video. I'm glad you did, though! Thanks for being the realest.
If they made her mono Pyro unit that would be so cool, like her burst damage increases depending on how many Pyro characters are in the party.
It is important to talk about problems in game design of charecters, thanks for doing it! That's a shame that mihoyo never rebalance their charecters like other gachas doing
So this is something that I have noticed quite often with the release of "Support Characters" why is it that every single support needs to do higher damage & work with X & Y, meanwhile we had:
Now the question remains what is best Burgeon or Hyperbloom?
it seems that Sevy have some i-dehya on how to fix her😉

3) Active character are immune to any type of interruption like electro-charge and frozen, they still take damage but not stutter or anything.
The more we dig into Dehya’s kit, the more she feels like the embodiment of Murphy’s Law. We gotta make sure it changes peepoRiot

Technically they could leave her as bad as she is and it wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would be a bit sad and may be a worrying sign of how they plan to treat future characters if not given enough pushback.
i love these types of videos! maybe you could do smaller ones, quick "fixes" that you think would make others "better" too!
People just went "Unfortunate, welp."
I feel her burst is broken in so many ways because they wanted to try something that didn't mesh well with normal attack, that being the dynamic attack speed from mashing the button?
I was concentrated throughout the whole video and for the video i completely agree with your ideas. it is really good job doing this and hope hoyoverse realize this and at least fix it somehow
zajef sent me here, here's a like and watch time (:
> Reduced Skill CD a bit
> Reduced energy needed for Burst
> Burst when pressed it will skip the Flame-mane Fist and instead canceling the burst.. it will perform to the next move which is Incineration Dive.
> Rework her signature weapon to be HP based or Elemental damage
Her damage is so bad without a buff and without other team to trigger a reaction.
Can you make a video discussing how to fix my life and get me to touch grass?
I cannot teach what I do not know
This is a very well-compiled video.
But for Dehya to work, she needs a Bennet and preferably Kadzuha lol
On the topic of burst duration:
The simple solution is to have the jump cancel that is in place actually baked into the kit. When you jump out of her burst it forces the incineration drive kick to happen and drop the skill field down. It would actually give a sort of animation coming directly out of the freeze as well that would actually be kind of cool.
-----
A unique concept that I feel like they are likely to play off of soon:
Dehya is the only character to get an alternate skill during her burst.
On the topic of her skill:
There is actually an argument to be made to keep the interval slow.
Edit 1: On the topic of her burst part 2:
A unique use case for her burst they could implement would be if you switch off of her during her burst she will actually stay on field and keep going while you are controlling the character you switched to. It would explain why you would need to jump out of it instead of switch.
Edit 2: on the topic of her skill part 2:
If her skill actually built up stacks of procs over time instead of just being a cooldown would be particularly interesting.
Edit 3: on the topic of energy generation:
One of the most interesting ideas I personally have is that she actually doesn't run off of energy particles.
She feels like a 4 star turned into 5 star due to popularity :(
I was thinking of well a couple of different buffs which is just:
Better multipliers
As well as better pyro aplication
And to gain bonus damage if you place her elemental skill but the reposition not the first time you aply it when she uses her burst and takes away her elemetal skill if you use your burst and then the elemental skill she will not gain that bonus damage
something like that will make her more of a burst DPS or something like that idk these are just some random ideas imma throw here
great video btw
I wish she got some traits of classic tanks in other games :
1) Taunt for crowd gathering that can also provide bosses.
Professional af video 🤓👍
No lie I went from playing genshin almost everyday since release, to almost not playing at all in the week.
Thank you sevy, youre the first content creator that affronts this issue, i think if we speak we can make some changes to dehya
I like the burst idea where it's a stance but I thought of something where she can proc the burst like a stance at any time but it would tick her energy which can make her high energy needs more viable.
While watching this video, I couldn’t help but wonder if hoyo did the same thing they did with faruzan. Basically hiding essential parts of Dehay’s kit behind constellations.
heads up! there's already a signature artifact set coming in 3.6 beta. idk if the effects would be 100% intact in release, but stay tuned for more!
You know it's serious when a wholesome youtuber starts a slideshow presentation
If we look at Carole from Honkai impact 3rd she is a shield breaking unit who has a unique ability wherein another party member can switch in while her burst is active and in doing so they gain a buff from Carole which boost their attack and crit (correct me if i am wrong) she also has something called Armor shredder which helps her charged attack do much more damage and stacks up to 3 times
So using her as an outline for Dehya we have a DPS who gains a stack of “Flame mane’s protection” stacking up to 3-5 times which increases Dehya’s damage but also has some supportive abilities where she can lower enemies defense, in order to trigger the effect Dehya would have to be in her circle and take damage from external forces (which can also be bloom explosions)which converts that into her stack which boosts her ult by 100%-500% plus an additional 55% from the damage she’s taken which also has been converted.
