One of the best opening songs, and one of the best Icelandic entries. So severely underrated. I love the live version performed at Songvakeppnin the other day, a whole 19 years later. Sounded incredible with just the piano.
I'm Icelandic, I LOVE this song, it's one of my all time favorite songs and I get so happy when I listen to it and I love to sing along with it. Birgitta is awesome :) But looking back at this now I see theres some little problems with the sound and/or a little with the voice (pitch?) in the live performance, but that really doesnt matter to me cause its one of the songs that cheer me up when I feel sad :)
everything was good in 2003.. the stage.. the postcards... the songs... the green room ... the voting... everything! =) this was my favorite eurovision
People just say that because they can't get their heads around that a girl can be so full of talent and yet so sweet and down-to-earth. She is an exemplary performer.
This year was NUTS for me when I was a kid! Not only did my idol go to Eurovision but kh1 came out that year (funny thing is i didn't play it until i met kh2 :P)!
She hasn't disappeared from the music scene, in fact she just released a new solo album last Christmas. But she took a break from music after she had her son, to be more with the family :)
This song wasn't very popular when it won our NF - at least not from that I detected in the public opinion, as the runner-up was a punk-rock band, Botnleðja, that many wanted to see win. But Birgitta sure showed them, here in Riga! This is a very good mainstream ballad, and Birgitta's performance breathes life into it like no one else could. And I was immensely glad with the top-10 placing she got us. Vel gert, Birgitta, við erum stolt af þér! :)
The same thing that happened in 2016 Belgium, 2014 Ukraine, 2010 Azerbaijan, 2013 & 2009 France, Spain 2004, Slovenia 2015, Malta 2005, Norway 2006, Belarus 2007, Armenia 2008 and Sweden 2009!! The organizers put really good entries that are a really menace for their favorite entries and then for complacing the crowd put that entries in the top 15, mostly top 10, so they believe we are going to be pleased, but obviously NOT! this deserved at least top 3 and almost every entry that I named here deserved too! and a few deserved winning!
Prior to 2013, all running order was down to drawing of lots. It wasn't until 2013 that the producers began to manually select the order. But yeah, this is in my opinion one of our best entries ever and even its 8th place was too low for it.
We really need to hear from this woman again. She's also disappeared from the Icelandic music scene. That will not do, her talent is too great to go amiss.
I'm from Iceland and this used to be 1 of my favourite songs, 1 thing I always find ridiculous is the Icelandic Accent while speaking/singing in English ....
Merci ch birgitta
This song should have won the 2003 Contest. One of the best ESC songs ever!

setheurovision94 This is probably my personal favourite from 2003.
We really need to hear from this woman again. She's also disappeared from the Icelandic music scene. That will not do, her talent is too great to go amiss.
She's pretty and with a strong voice. Beautiful. And good song. My god, she's so damn pretty... :)
well there is many good singers... My favorit is Paul Oscar or Páll Óskar like it's cald in iceland.

Regina Osk from the Euroband (Iceland 2008) in back vocals ... just f.y.i
Hei!Ihanaa ja Euroviisuissa pysytään.Birgitta Haukdal!
she's really beautiful
she's interesting
i like her :)
This was the year Iceland should have one.
And now she's entering a song into the Icelandic NF 2013. So maybe we'll hear her again.
@setheurovision94 Why did she dissappear from the Icelandic music scene?
Always thought this should have done much better but to be fair it was a very tough year and the best song definately did NOT win!!!
She is my ant
Ég er ekki að grínast en ég heilsaði henni einu sinni þegar hún var á kaffitár í Kringlunni þegar ég var annaðhvort 4 eða 5 ára!! XD

Botnleðja hefði átt að komast í Eurovision.
LOL it's hilarious how he pronounces the icelandic names, especially haukdal XD It's completely differently pronounced in the actual language :P
You should so bring her back to eurovision iceland :)
Ég missti af laginu fæddist 2004 og þá var hörmulegt lag

turkyie - Sertab Erener - Everyway that i can
Thanks. Iceland was better.
but at the time a top ten placing is good enough to qualify for next year's final.

bróðir minn sá þig einu sinni ég er ekki að grínast

Bjork's not the only female chanteuse to emerge from Iceland.
