Enraged Divine Beast Talisman works on the Stormwing Bone Arrows btw for a 10% damage increase which can be nice if you are farming those arrows to use
I'm surprised the Spear Taliman didn't get mentioned for the counter damage on bows considering the bait and shoot style. You can eek out quite a bit more damage with pure physical damage arrows on those counter hits.
About the bows and crossbows that have elemental damage, while you can’t enchant or grease them, you can use different arrows to get the same effect of increasing the low base elemental damage. It’s definitely situational, but it can put in good damage against an enemy weak to that element Also, mighty shot is great for applying status. It gets an increased status buildup as well as damage, so it is way more arrow efficient than barrage. In my opinion, serpent bow with high arcane is a great way to apply most status effects because it’s the only bow that can scale bleed, poison, and sleep, in addition to the small flat poison buildup
Perfect video, learned alot myself as abow user. I had no idea that two handed talisman, horseback and backstep talisman didn't work with bows. I should've tested, but assumed it would. Likewise I didn't know the range of the talisman for poison, rot and bleed. Fantasic work
I always keep a +10 Pulley Bow on hand, just because there are some precarious situations where if you're careful you can avoid some incredibly difficult fights just by sniping some specific enemies. Mighty shot headshots + Alexander's Shard/Bow talisman actually does respectable damage if your enemies can't reach you.
Great video man, you really covered pretty much everything about bows, and showed how much of a challenge this run can be. Now, just sharing some thoughts, I hate doing bow only runs as much as I love it, fromsoftware could've made so much more with bows/ranged combat in general... farming/crafting becomes a pain in a bow playthough, specially if you die to the boss after using a lot of arrows. There was absolutely no need to have both fletched and unfletched arrows. They could've made a "weaker" version of fan shot as an Ash of War for regular bows, there's not a single new AoW for bows in the DLC (well, Igon's Drakehunt is for greatbows which are another weapon class, it even uses other ammo type). And I'll never get over how claw talisman, rellana's cameo and some other talismans simply don't work with bows.
@@Planterobeetswhat do you mean “prove it?”. that’s literally where you find it in game. that IS the proof, ya numpty. that’s like someone telling you the sky is blue and you say “prove it” instead of just walking outside and looking up.🤨🤦♂️
No spear talisman? It’s probably the biggest damage boost you can get on a bow build. You’re always going to be hitting enemies in attack animations and arrows count as thrust (pierce in past games). You can get huge numbers with this talisman and counter damage. Personally would say it’s a must. At least in the top tier of options.
If you want a midrange weapon that scales pretty decently (for a bow) I didn’t see you name the albinauric longbow! If you give that one enchanted shot it makes sniping from a good distance quite reliable and strong outside of a boss arena! Ansbach’s is a boss nuker if you’ve got the dex for it. Black bow is amazing during generalized combat without worrying about it stealing all your arrows like Ansbach’s will. And I honestly still find Radahn’s greatbow superior to Igon’s sadly, at least for a quality build style. And the bone bow is a cute mix of short bow barrage meets albinauric with enchanted shot except lower damage per hit in exchange for fast and versatile attacks and status build. So for the most part I do agree with you! ☺️ except I believe that albinauric is quite steady for a basic longbow and shouldn’t be ignored.
Don't sleep on the horn bow. If you use it with the correct arrows it does some really good magic damage. which most of the time nets higher damage than physical due to most enemies being weak to magic or having less magic armor overall. At least from my testing. Ansbach is still better. But pre dlc it is a worthy choice. Edit: try it with the magic scorpion charm.
I'm using a bow build as my first playthrough, got a +10 Black Bow and for "help" Crystalian Ashes +10 once I summon it I run behind it and it tanks so hard while I can do a lot of damage
i think you can change Igon’s Greatbow’s AoW too. it comes with a new AoW but i’m pretty sure it’s switchable, like how you get the banished knight halberd from irina’s father that comes with a unique AoW that you can actually switch. (not at the game at the moment, so not 100% sure, but still pretty sure)
A thing about Ansbach, it seems that it’s intentionally coded as one damage instance bc every other “multi shot” type weapon functions the same, I.E. spread crossbow and scattershot throw. The arrows from fan shot already have individual hitboxes for each arrow, so it’s gotta be intentional, it’d take extra coding to make it work the way it currently does. Same with spread crossbow apparently not registering all 10 arrows, it was likely capped at 5 intentionally. I suppose it was all done for intentionally for consistency, you spend 10 arrows for a nice hitbox and fast DPS/buildup but you technically lose 2x arrows doing so. But unlike spread crossbow someone seems to have overlooked the status buildup and didn’t cap Ansbach at 4 arrows with 8 cost.
Enchanting shot doesn’t do a specific element, it’s just a shot with a higher motion value and tracking, so it depends on build but I prefer it on albanauric bow personally
@@NA-rr7jl Whenever you hit the enemy during an attack animation with pierce damage, you'll deal some extra damage. Pierce damage always had this unique property. All the Spear Talisman does is amplify said counter damage.
@@mkv2718 Especially when they can zoom in and allow you to headshot, you can get a lot more range on a bow than most sorceries or incantations. Even if you can’t kill that enemy from a distance in one shot, if you pepper him with arrows while he’s walking towards you, you still get the utility of getting him away from the other enemies and with lowered health. Bows work wonders as a utility weapon
Have completed most of the game with a quality/bow build. Very fun way to play the game. Ansbach’s bow is one my favourite weapons from the DLC

Weird you didn't mention the spear talisman, since arrows do piercing damage.
Does spear talisman work?
Yes
Definitely, one of my go to talismans for damage
The spear talisman works with bow as well
Most people watch guides like this before or during their playthrough, not after, so I'm confused why the b-roll footage needed to be DLC bosses.
How to fix Ai input reading ranged attacks, lets just add a weapon that rapid fires and homes
Great vid thanks!
You forgot the Spear Talisman, my man. It works on arrows and bolts as well.

What armor are you using in the showcases?
Do multiple hit dmaage boost talismans like Millicents Prosthethis work on bows? Particularly the multishot bows?
Great bows handle human enemies realy easy jut wait for them to attack and shoot right before the hit you
I can say since the dlc bows are pretty viable and predlc it was a waste of time to even try
Regarding raksha armor you are wrong, each pieces lowers all your mitigations by 2%. It is in the game files, wiki and build pages.
We have Remnant at home
Remnant at home:
Why even bother putting bows in the game if they aren’t really viable? So much lost potential.
there basicly just another legacy mechanic at this point
they’re supposed to be extra tools, not you main weapon. not everything needs to be the strongest thing ever to have a purpose.
I mean honestly my archer build has been my favorite play through so far and pvp is challenging but so satisfying getting that W in invasions

Because they are a utility not a style for a build realistically but you can beat the entire game with anything so I don't get your point
idk how its possible to mispronounce IGON's name as INGON, HE LITERALLY SAYS HIS OWN NAME.
