- The plaintiffs say they entered into a contract with the defendant to hold a wedding at her venue, but they later found out the town forbids wedding receptions there. They claim they had to scramble for a replacement at the last minute, so they’re suing for all the money they are now out. The defendant says the town surprised her a week before the wedding with a notice, but she claims she told the plaintiffs she would work it out with the town, but they backed out. She denies responsibility.

The only time I’ve seen the judge this mad was that one case where one set of parents was hiding an underage girl from her parents!
Oh I certainly remember that! Yeah, I agree with you, that’s just about the only other time she’s gotten THAT upset. Rightfully so both times.
That and the one where the guy and his friend basically kidnapped an underage girl who was allegedly being abused by her parents from her parents, but couldn't be bothered to take her to the police.

Did a little digging, and besides this case, forward in time thru the Covid Pandemic to the present, the owner of the wedding venue is still in trouble with the town of Groton Ct., her name is Natalie "Elizabeth" Huey Min Lee and the town is still after her for zone violations for her so-called wedding venue "Mount Crescent LLC" aka Mount Crescent House mansion.... Truly unbelievable trying to be above the law.
If this is indeed the Min Lee lady, she's in default on this property and two others to the tune of nearly a million dollars (including property taxes that are owed). There's also a lot of photos of weddings taking place there and reviews from people stating they had a lovely wedding there so she's definitely knows weddings are taking place there.

It's hard to find such a combination of stupidity, arrogance, selfishness, and contempt for the law that this defendant demonstrated. I don't know why the judge did not award punitive damages for her egregious behavior.

Technically, the Defendant could hold a personal, family wedding on her property--as can anyone in most areas. She couldn't, as a BUUSINESS hold a wedding. (Just My Opinion) The defendant said it wasn't the "town's business" to know what she was doing, but it definitely is their business to make sure people are following the rules. How can owner's of VRBO's think it's ok to bring in 150 people into a neighborhood? smh The defendant knew she was breaking the rules, but just wanted to make a buck.

I would've been so pissed if I had to come off another almost 4k at the last minute. I also understand her not wanted to sabotage their place to stay. If I have people flying thousands of miles to come to my wedding & they suddenly don't have accommodations, i would probably lose some relationships due to someone else.

The plaintiffs are extremely likable. Probably some of the most likeable I've seen on this show. The defendant made me cringe. She's the type of person that would smile to your face and then stab you in the back. Glad the judge told her off.

This happened to my daughter in Ontario. We paid $5k to rent a venue/house and the town advised no weddings could take place on their premise. She had to host a party like a family event and return the money to us.
