That's why I went for a Tenere 700. It's not even in the same league as my previous naked and touring bikes. So much more fun and it also feels like more 'bike'
I've thought of it many times, but I just can't get myself into ADV and sport tourer bikes. Too big, tall, and heavy, and I prefer riding lightweight to middleweight ones. I also prefer to keep all my bikes 'pure bikes,' meaning no bags mounted on them at all, and would rather wear a backpack if I have to carry something while riding.
We had a V-Strom 650 and it was a great bike. At the time, we also had an NC700X. I preferred the NC700X(it's closer to a naked bike) over the V-Strom because it was more like hopping on and off a bicycle. It was just easier to do everything with. The V-Strom was a tougher bike for gravel roads and things. It had a 19 inch front wheel for light off-road. If you're just doing short trips on the road, a "less than" dual sport that you can put some luggage on is a better choice. If you're going on long-hauls or gravel roads, ADV. Good video CycleCruza!
A naked and an ADV bike are the same to me. One is just more flexible when it comes to long distance/off pavement riding. If you are never going to be off pavement, and/or you do not do long distance touring, you do not need an ADV bike. But I guess you could put ADV tires and luggage on a Sport naked too. To sum it up and ADV bike is a sport naked on stilts. Kind of like a small SUV is a compact car on stilts.
I have a T7 and the only thing that I really miss is an up and down QS. Everything else is amazing and a ton of fun. And a Touratech seat makes long distances a piece of cake.
I'd always choose a naked bike over a ADV bike. I just got my MT09 SP not long ago. Naked bikes are way better for hooligan fun and getting around in the city. I'd rather get a supermoto with adv tyres than buy a touring adventure bike.
Yeah it depends on the type of riding you do but I've seen many riders being a hooligan on ADV bikes too. For me, I prefer my little MT-07 for city urban cruising but if I plan a tour it would definitely be on a ADV bike or a KTM 690 SMC R fitted for touring.
I don't think there is a universal bike for everything, in the beginning of the journey start where you are, but in the end you would have a collection of several bikes for their specific purpose.
@@franklinsaltchuck2455 Well that’s kind of the point, the closest to a trail most people who buy them will see is a short jaunt on a well maintained forest department gravel road, then a lifetime on pavement.
I’ve had a Triumph Street Triple R for the past 6 years, and made the switch to a Husky Norden 901… I’ve been surprised with the performance of the Norden, so I don’t feel I gave up anything, but gained comfort and capability. Still love naked bikes tho, thanks for the content and conversation, CC!
I almost traded my Z900 in for an adxenture bike, but the ADV prices and the fact that I still love my Z changed my mind. wanted to experience some unpaved riding, but I live here in N.E. Ohio, and we have straight line asphalt everywhere.
I think the Harly Pan Am is a cool ADV. But I prefer just short rides and enjoy the wind rush, so it's middle sized nakeds for me, they are the best for the street imho.
Tuareg 660, Caponord 1200, and Tuono V4 R are the perfect trifecta if you are lucky enough to own all three at the same time. With this combo, you make zero compromises and have the best of everything!
I just love the evolution of CCs opinions about different kind of bikes 😅 First, he throws a lot of hate. Then he starts to agree that there are some benefits on that particular type of bike... later on, he talks about actually buying one, then he actually buys it, ends up in love with it, and the next thing we'll know is that he is cruising the Gobi Desert on an Africa Twin 1100 😂 I really hope to see that one day
@LilSaint77 it's less about judging and more about him standing on his opinion. And even then, that opinion is subject to change. Instead of foolishly doubling down on his opinion "even if he fills it's wrong afterwards", he's able to stand and say he was wrong. That's not a bad thing.
man I had a Triumph Tiger for about a year or so. It was cool and all but the offroad capability really wasn't there anymore than any other motorcycle. Had an Fz-07 before the Tiger and loved it. Rode the Tiger for a while and it got old real quick for just an average daily rider. I'm on a Street Triple now.... Glad I tried out the Tiger but at the end of the day it's not a cruiser and it's not dual sport. I'd never go back.
honestly considering an ADV bike as my next bike merely based on the fact that the roads are full of potholes here in Indonesia. In terms of looks, I like the KTM Adventure bikes
I had an Africa Twin and it was too heavy for any off road riding. I would like to see you get a Tuareg 660 though. A lot lighter and still looks like it would be a good hooligan bike with light off-road capabilities. If I ever buy a large ADV bike it will be for on-road longer distance touring that I could comfortably ride on dirt roads. With seven bikes it would be a hard choice on which one to give up though.
I would never buy a large ADV bike, the biggest ADV bike I would get is a KTM 890 Adventure R. I would not mess around off-road too much on a ADV bike, it would be limited to touring and some dirt roads here and there but nothing crazy. I think ADV bikes make the best cross country touring bikes hands down.
I have a Z900rs Café and my previous one was a first gen Mt09 and I love Naked bikes but I would like to own an ADV bike like the T700 or an Africa twin for practical use.
Well, it's a different style of riding, a different mindset of controlling the bike and a different way you control your body on the adv bike. On lighter weight bikes you're the boss, you control the moto more like a dirt bike when you were a kid. The adv bike you need to control your body more to react and adjust to what the bike is gonna do, it has a little more say in what's gonna go on.
I wanted to have a fun bike but I Also want to be able to go What is the white touring like two or three day trips in the woods. I imagine I could still set up a Moto camping gig on a Suzuki SV 650 or an MT07 but it would be much harder and if I drive to some beautiful places like Southlake Tahoe or the redwoods I wouldn’t be able to actually enjoy any of the trails. So I think I’m just going to get a Suzuki DR 650 comfortable on the road yet I can still go on some lake trails and enjoy the outdoors.
Hey CC! I have a naked bike, but a lot of my friends (35+ y.o.) are into ADV bikes.. To me, there is still that "hooligan" in me, I love the looks, but I feel like those ADV bikes are coming to us at some point of time in future..btw, if you wanted to choose/buy one, which one would you consider? Tenere? Africa Twin? Stay safe out there!
Yeah ADV bikes are the most popular with the older crowd but many younger folks are riding them now too. The Yamaha Tenere 700 and KTM 890 Adventure R would be top choices, I would not go any bigger than that. However, I would also consider the Honda Africa Twin which is about 40 lbs heavier, not too much bigger. Which ADV bike do you want?
@@CycleCruza I like Yamaha Tenere 700 and also Honda Africa Twin, yet lots of my buddies (I live in Central Europe) have Triumph Tigers.. but as you mentioned I don't feel comfortable having sth. heavy.. so it's not easy to choose a right bike
Can't agree more adv bikes are really comfy I sat on one of those a couple of times Himalayan it's kinda good comfortable confidence I don't think it can be taken hardcore off roading like a duel sport just cause of the weight ,,, it might break but any bike is good for offroad but can't do the things your duel sport does I see those clips too lol ,,,
Many people that never rode off-road don't understand how weight plays a major factor, the heavier the bike the more it tires you out and is clunky. However, an ADV is fine on dirt backroads which I would never take a naked motorcycle on.
Choosing best bike style for you? it’s all about the type of riding you enjoy and can fit into your schedule. Pros and cons for all bikes, which checks more pro boxes for you?
🤣I've been wanting to do a trip across the country and I would definitely do it on a ADV bike, however, it would be a smaller ADV bike like a KTM 890 Adventure R.
Just addicted to that Ohio weather omg what are those trees wow plain superb clean neat awesome roads omg I wanna cry LOVE THAT CYCLE CRYZA ❤ THAT WEATHER IS JUST HEAVEN I GET THE COLD WEWTHER TOO BUT YOUR SURROUNDING LOOKS SO NEW JUST LIKE THOSE HOLLYWOOD MOVIES
We've had a pretty mild winter, lots of riding days. Actually, Cleveland used to be called Forest City. We have an abundance of trees, a lot of great hardwoods. The streets are much better out in the country where I usually ride. Nice and friendly folks here too.
I've heard that Ohio roads need very expensive and laborious maintenance schedule, cuz I don't feel like using four letters to describe it today. An ADV has some utilities in that environment. But, then again, so is a sumo.
ADV bikes excel in nothing... Not good for offroad, nor for track, not the best for road riding, definitely not a good choice for the city. Generally oversized, overweight and some hilariously expensive as well. There will be always a hefty compromise with an ADV bike. For touring I'd get a tourer, for offroad a light enduro. For the rest, a supermoto will do.
hey cruz, in 2020 i bought a KTM 790 Adventure R, fitted a aftermarket screen for better wind protection. i really can't see myself on any other bike now, maybe a new 890 R or the new Norden 901 Expedition would be my only other choice if i was looking for a new bike ✌
You're right, the adventure bikes are too heavy for off road, you will fall often and get stuck like you did with your van in the mud. Get a 2 stroke-Yamaha250YZ
There are lightweight ADV bikes too... That said, it's nothing like a dualsport when offroad. I want a bike for majority road/hw riding, so I'm shopping for a light to mid-weight adv that is super comfortable for long tours on road that can also handle itself basic offroad fun.
Depends if you want to partake in hooligan activities! I have no interest in an adventure bike right now at 26. My MT10 is way too much fun. But as I get older I can already know I will want an ADV. Who knows, maybe sooner than later!
I have DR650 dualsports. They create less buffeting for me on the slab than most streetbikes, even without windscreens. They handle bumps and potholes better, offer a better vantage point, are economical, and are WAY more versatile. ADV motos are even better on the slab, having more power, and some aren't much worse in the dirt than a big-tanked DR. Unless you go to the track, where are you going to legally use more than 100HP anyway? I can't even use full power on a 40+HP DR without the front end coming up, and wheelies on public roads mean instant confiscation in some states.
How are you sitting on that bike if you cant even use full power without the front end coming up ? i can full throttle a exc 500 from 2 gear and up with not much liftoff at the front. i am 170 pounds. You know you are supposed to push the front down under heavy acceleration ? I had a Husqvarna 701, got sick of it after 2 weeks, to slow and boring. Not stiff enough in the corners to really ride fast and not enough power out of the apex. But i do street racing doh, so different breed i guess.
@@drazi5201 I don't grab a handful of throttle in the lower gears while I'm on public roads. I dropped a tooth on the front sprocket too, so it wheelies like a sumbitch in the lower gears.
I love them all but a naked suits me the best fro urban city riding and this mt07 has been perfect for me. However, for touring across the country I could definitely see myself getting a ADV bike.
I just wish they would make a smaller displacement adventure bike, that doesn't look dorky..IF they could just change the yamana t7 bodywork a little..make a sportier rally type design that would be awesome..just can't get over the front bird beak design of these adv bikes.
It’s more of a sport touring bike but the tiger 660 you should look at also look at triumph they have really good bikes the tripples the speed twin and the tiger line
Ok man i love my 2016 Africa Twin. i wrapped it all black with upgraded tuned suspension and all the farkles but i would rather have a (performance bagger HD) oh man that looks amazing. Well i need both really
I live in Quebec, a lot of dirt road, gravel road and road quality is just plain bad, I have a ktm 1290 super adventure R and I use my wife MT07. The 1290 is just better most of the time. The MT07 sound is better. Also have a Husqvarna FE 501 with a set of sm wheel and offroad wheel.
What ? What was that? Amenities? Boy dropping some bombs today, but back to the topic if I was to get an ADV it would have to be under 300cC, because, I hate the weight, ( I know that it makes them stable ) , you basically have much more to go through if you wanted to do basic personal maintenance, and they cost slot to both buy and maintain. For clearance I would rather get a scrambler. Like I told you I work with someone that owns a GS 1200 and he hardly brings it out .
Love this channel I've been watching for many many years . But you not turning off your blinkers is going to get you killed some day cc. Some car is going to think your turning and pull out in front of you and set you up for a really bad day
Cycle cruiser me personally. I will get the naked bike if I was only going to use it right around the city. I live in or the state olivia I will rather radio venture pike cross state lines
I went to a bike shop last week, and i looked at some adv bikes.im sorry but they are massive compared to other bikes.if you're touring then crack on,ideal for that.but i wouldnt want to do much more than that on one.its getting like car drivers buying massive vehicles to mooch about in.just unecessary!get what suits what you use your bike for!simples!
CycleCruza, not the first time you're talking about a bike type that you don't have experience on. Perhaps you should get one for the sake of content creation and keep whining about it with a more credible look?
True but how many people actually go the track? I've been talking about going to the track since 2012 and have yet to go. 🤣 It is too expensive, I'm too cheap for track fees.
@@CycleCruza What you can do is ask to do the first session in the morning with the beginner. You only ask and pay to do 1 x 15min session, you probably can do that for 50$. And that will make you a better rider forever. A trackday is THE ONLY WAY to unlock your cornering Chakras.

Good point. Adv Tarmac riding can never be fun like the Naked Sport.
"Put in jail with the booty warrior" 🤣🤣🤣
I don't think there is a universal bike for everything, in the beginning of the journey start where you are, but in the end you would have a collection of several bikes for their specific purpose.
Exactly what I've said. Sport, Naked and Adv. Need 3 bikes.
I recommend the t7 especially if you love your mt07 because the t7 has the same motor with a little different gearing
Best line I’ve heard about the BIG adv bikes are “A Honda Gold Wing for those who don’t want to be seen on a Honda Gold Wing”
🤣
Try taking a Gold Wing.on a trail.. and try picking it up after you drop it 😆
@@franklinsaltchuck2455 Well that’s kind of the point, the closest to a trail most people who buy them will see is a short jaunt on a well maintained forest department gravel road, then a lifetime on pavement.
Don't you miss the handling of the RS...???
I almost traded my Z900 in for an adxenture bike, but the ADV prices and the fact that I still love my Z changed my mind. wanted to experience some unpaved riding, but I live here in N.E. Ohio, and we have straight line asphalt everywhere.
I think the Harly Pan Am is a cool ADV. But I prefer just short rides and enjoy the wind rush, so it's middle sized nakeds for me, they are the best for the street imho.
I only got a klx300sm and this is my second year riding. 18k miles on it now. If I was gonna go "touring"; honestly I'm gonna take the Subaru.
Also here in Europe the streets are full of speed bumps so you'll be way more comfortable and faster on a adv bike
Tuareg 660, Caponord 1200, and Tuono V4 R are the perfect trifecta if you are lucky enough to own all three at the same time. With this combo, you make zero compromises and have the best of everything!
When it gets cold. Like below 40, and you been out for 2 hours. You'll want a windscreen and heated gear 😅
When it's over 90 or under 50, I'll be in my car
When it's over 90 you might want the naked then
I just love the evolution of CCs opinions about different kind of bikes 😅
First, he throws a lot of hate. Then he starts to agree that there are some benefits on that particular type of bike... later on, he talks about actually buying one, then he actually buys it, ends up in love with it, and the next thing we'll know is that he is cruising the Gobi Desert on an Africa Twin 1100 😂 I really hope to see that one day
lmao he’s quick to judge and quick to get his mind changed… maby he should learn to be more open minded lmao
@@dxquinnno Good points. Maybe he likes doing that because he can make more videos that way...
I'm at the same point now. Tiger or Street Triple.
So you got bored of the Tiger and went back to the Street Triple?
Get both! A naked for a quick commuter and an adv for long road trips.
honestly considering an ADV bike as my next bike merely based on the fact that the roads are full of potholes here in Indonesia. In terms of looks, I like the KTM Adventure bikes
If i wasnt vertically challenged id be all up in adv bikes
Vertically challenged 😂😂 that’s a good one
There are plenty of adv bikes that work for shorter riders.
That T7 cyclecruizaaaa it calls to youuu
I have a Z900rs Café and my previous one was a first gen Mt09 and I love Naked bikes but I would like to own an ADV bike like the T700 or an Africa twin for practical use.
Adv bike! Love the comfort and touring but there are people out there that turn naked bikes and even scooters into adv bikes
Also it's easier to haul a Draco and freedom seeds from Cabella to BLM lands on an ADV.
True, and most riders don't do hardcore off-roading so they'll be fine navagating dirt backroads on a ADV bike.
Super tenere = the most unappreciated ADV bike out there. I love mine!!!
Kove 450 rally
I have a Husqvarna 701 Enduro. A beast of 74 hp with just 320 hp! You can ride it absolutely EVERYWHERE😊
Man get the new KLR man!
I gave up the idea that CC would ever get an ADV a long time ago.
🤣I've been wanting to do a trip across the country and I would definitely do it on a ADV bike, however, it would be a smaller ADV bike like a KTM 890 Adventure R.
@@CycleCruza pick that bike up man. Life is short! Treat yourself don’t cheat yourself!
If you want to do multi day trip BDR or the TAT, adv bike are fantastic
Any love for the scrambler?
If Kawasaki would make a Versys 400 twin that would be about ideal.
Kove 450 Rally
KTM 390 Adventure is similar, but the single cylinder vibrations and the looks are very off putting
@@judge831
Definitely a twin is better for high speed travel.
I love my Versys x300, but going 80 on highway gets old fast
Same thought is shared by Motorcycle Adventures channel on youtube, he ride adv bike.
Would be sick to see you on the new 450 MT by CfMoto!
CycleCruza considering an ADV bike now???
I would go with a naked bike because of the lighter weight, and because I’m not interested in touring.
Naked all dayssss 😎🤟
If you want to travel with pillion it’s better mid range adv like v strom 800 or transalp or to take Hight cc naked bike and don’t sell your cb500x?
"They handle better than adv bikes" go try the 890 adv or hopefully soon the 990smt. Or honestly the 1290 sas. Ull go nutty for them
"They don't do what I do on a dual sport" I'm willing to take that bet.
I’m still stuck between a damn Honda CRF300 Rally and a Yamaha XSR700/900. 😭💀
390 adv is the best light weight yet good power to weight ratio
The vibration, lack of low down torque, and the looks kill it for me
finally see the light. Only took you a year
Both are great
I own both
Duke390& africa twin 1000
2 different purposes so the comparison is irrelevant. Just get what fits ya personality simple as that
Dude im looking a adv mostly bc im tall
If I was to buy a ATV bike, it would be a Yamaha T7
ADV by a landslide. I ride a 2022 BMW GSA and I refuse to sit on any other bike. ADV is the best all around bike.
Tenere 700 with 17 inch wheels
It would be amazing
Not sure about amazing, however it would definitely grab my attention!
Some car is going to think your turning and pull out in front of you and set you up for a really bad day
CYCLE CRUZA how many miles does your bike has currently?
Cycle cruiser me personally. I will get the naked bike if I was only going to use it right around the city. I live in or the state olivia I will rather radio venture pike cross state lines
If I had to have just 1 bike I would go for a smallish ADV or sport touring. I have a CB 500X and a mt 09sp and life is good.
A smart person would choose Yamaha tracer
I went to a bike shop last week, and i looked at some adv bikes.im sorry but they are massive compared to other bikes.if you're touring then crack on,ideal for that.but i wouldnt want to do much more than that on one.its getting like car drivers buying massive vehicles to mooch about in.just unecessary!get what suits what you use your bike for!simples!
Adv are just ugly period. Dual sport or naked are the way to go
GS 1200 All Day!
My mate's getting KTM 1290 ADV, with +160HP lol....
SuperMoto hooligans for life baby, Braaap!!! lol
CycleCruza, not the first time you're talking about a bike type that you don't have experience on. Perhaps you should get one for the sake of content creation and keep whining about it with a more credible look?
I ride yamaha ST1200 does everything.
omg... it's all about compromise bro. nothing is better or worse

Midsize ATV,
But they suck on the racetrack
True but how many people actually go the track? I've been talking about going to the track since 2012 and have yet to go. 🤣 It is too expensive, I'm too cheap for track fees.
@@CycleCruza What you can do is ask to do the first session in the morning with the beginner. You only ask and pay to do 1 x 15min session, you probably can do that for 50$. And that will make you a better rider forever. A trackday is THE ONLY WAY to unlock your cornering Chakras.
I’d be all about the adventure, but they are so ugly.
